Stopped in today for lunch with a group of Jeepers. First time here. Old converted gas station. Ambiance was fun with the car memorabilia. Menu is loaded with dishes named after car parts. As with any new place in town, I've been lookin forward to trying out the Bent Axle since I first noticed it. It's kind of hard not to, being located in an old garage, on West Clinton St., in what was a tire outlet, not too long ago. They emulate this theme so well that my daughter, who rides the school bus past it everyday, thought it was still an auto repair shop. Don't worry though, cleanliness is a sure bet here. When I first walked in, I felt greeted in a manner that a Wall Street broker might be if he walked into a Texas Honky Tonk on a Saturday night. Even wearing jeans and a Wrangler shirt, I almost felt the need to shout "I'm from Jones County". The staff seemed preoccupied and hurried, which in itself is not a bad thing. Of course, I came to eat; so, eat I did. The lunch menu had a solid "burgers and more" vibe. If you prefer, they offer salads as well. My choice was the "Four Banger". Served in just under ten minutes, what I got was crispy, juicy, buffalo wing sauce coated white chicken bites, served over the most flavorful, cheese saturated ( with hints of parmasan and blue crumbles throughout) macaroni that I've had in a while. The chicken was mildly spicy, allowing for each bite to savored. Ranch dressing was served on the side; but go easy on it, because, as it should, the dressing should complement the meal and all of its flavors. At $7.99 just for what I described above (I drank water and ordred no sides) I'm a bit conflicted on the price. After finishing my meal, there's no question I wanted more; but, was I just hungry, or was the portion too small? In the end, if you ask me if I'd pay the same price for the sam meal again, I would have to say "yes", adding, I'll be back (although given my reception, probably for take out). read more

Stopped today for lunch on the outside patio. Really cool place. I mean, it's not fancy, but I really like the atmosphere. It's old-timey and welcoming. And listen--the Buffalo chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've had in years. I hardly ever drink, but I was tempted to have a few beers and sit there all afternoon. The front and back of house staff were nothing but amazing, just finding out that one of the owners is a Child groomer/ CHOMO will make me never return to any of his businesses. Let alone consistently dining here and the owner treating his staff like trash. If you care about these people at all, I'd highly just recommend either tipping great and not ordering anything or just not going at all. Ironic considering that the new owners goal was to make it family friendly, and now that this new information is out, I would never be caught taking my family there. Dropped in after church.Got seated promptly no tables available inside so out on the patio we went.1 million flies attacked us and the other guests.Ordered our food and waited.Baby got restless so we walked around.Peaked in the window to the kitchen saw three of the wait staff hanging out yakin' away.About 30 minutes in food comes out. 30 minutes not too bad.But only half the orders were there.Waitress said she would check on the other meals.Waited and waited.20 minutes went by no meals.Finally as we are leaving out they come.Owner or manager (guy with a goatee) says sorry .arrrgghhh... Heres what should have happened........Fix the fly problem or explain to folks sorry we dont have patio service today....owner manager check on customers make sure staff is doing there job...dont be serving food thats for those wait staff to do instead of hanging out....If an item is slow or not available offer a complimentary appetizer or something not soooorry bye. Overall food that did come out was good ,we were seated quickly and drinks came out fast.Poor service will kill a restaurant.I was in an applebees a year ago same thing staff hanging out manager not managing...not a good experience.. read more

The first two times I ate at this restaurant I loved the food and was impressed by the service and theme of the restaurant. The last two times I have eaten I have not had a good experience.I am not sure if the chef has changed or if the staff has changed but the food and quality of service have gone down . I hate to see that happen in a new place . I really hope that things improve . read more

I took my daughter out to lunch for her birthday & said she could go anywhere she liked. She chose the Bent Axle in Gray and they did not disappoint . I had their lunch special of hamburger on a brioche bun and French fries and sweet tea . It was delicious and served fresh and hot. The bun was toasted and I loved the cute way the fries were sliced .The service was quick and our waitress was quick with refills and asked several times if we needed anything. My daughter had soup and sandwich combo and she enjoyed her meal as well. I loved the cute decor , especially the light fixtures made from tools. We will certainly be regular customers. Typical middling food. Salad dressings so thick they can not be ADEQUATELY applied to salad. Salad was okay if you like with out dressing. Soup too thick to be enjoyed. Tasted okay but ugh! Hamburger (1/2 pound) was okay. Fries were good. So salad dressing 1 Soup 2 Hamburger 3 (I'd give McD's a 2 and BK a 3.) Fries 4 Total 10/4 = 2.5 rounded up to a 3 (three) Decor was interesting. Area was clean. Service was good and delivery of food was fast. Atmosphere probably close to a five when people come to have a cold one. Go by and see how you rate it. read more

Had a home inspection performed with a good sized list of small plumbing repairs. Had Hammond services come and give an estimate. The estimate was over 10k. I knew immediately it was a rip-off. I sent 2 other plumbers to the home with the same list of repairs in the next few days and both of their quotes were within 5% of each other around the $2000-$2500 mark as I expected. Buyer beware - not sure how to justify such a price difference from other qualified, reputable plumbing companies. read more
