I called the place to make an appointment- told the receptionist that I had a groupon. She told me NOT to buy it , she would honor the price if I took a screenshot of it. After traveling 45 minutes to get to Cedarhurst, I show her the screenshot, and she tells me she has to charge me $80.00 more for (what she called) medium length hair. I said that we agreed on the price and she said the fine print on the Groupon said it would be a little more for medium hair. I didn't use the Groupon and she would not honor the price. My straightening was done by Daniela who was excellent. She was professional, informed, nice, patient and she knew what she was doing. She did a great job. The treatment itself was nice. As long as you are aware that the straightener is activated by heat so if water touches your hair it goes back being a bit wavy. Reason why I deducted a star: I went here using a Groupon. I paid $99 (before tax) for the Groupon. Per the Groupon the cost is $99 for $200 worth of treatment. But there's no such thing as a sale ... you're paying somehow. When I arrived I was told due to my hair length and thickness I had to pay an extra $60. Per the Groupon I should have gotten $200 worth of services. Per the price list I only needed $139 or $189 worth of services (depending on which price list you look at). I'm a numbers person and I hate when it doesn't make sense. Zero stars. I'm highly DISAPPOINTED. I've been co.ing here for 4 or 5 yrs always hd great service. Today was different to say the least. I wasn't pleased with my service and when I said I wasn't the stylist and I got into a verbal argument HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I worked in the service industry for over 30 yrs and my customers were always right with any service didn't like and we would work to correct it. This woman told me to get out of her chair as if she owned this salon. As for all the other stylist they are amazing. I'm leaving with a burt scalp. I was disappointed in Dari. When I first started going to the salon, I was supposed to come back to wash out the chemicals and Dari never told me that I needed to come back and this chemical was in my hair for five weeks. In addition there were other red flags that I should not have ignored. When I was doing the treatment to get my hair straight, some parts of my hair would be smooth and some parts would be rough and dry and one time I went back and she told me to add more chemicals and I told her no because I just did the hair five days ago. Another red flag was that all the time that I was going to her to do my hair, she never recommended that I use special products to protect my hair from the heat and chemicals and my hair fell out and I had asked her about another product and she told me to use it and my hair broke off with the product she recommended. I always wondered why she would recommend a product that I should not be using on my hair. There was another red flag where another customer was mad at her and accused her of putting too much heat on her hair which was the same problem that I had when she was doing my hair. It seems like she could not use her discretion on how much heat to put on each individual 's hair. One morning I decided that I had enough because my hair was suffering because it was not getting the best care and I decided not to go back to her. I realized that my hair was being damaged from all the heat that was being put on the hair. Did my keratin a couple weeks ago. Never been so happy with the results. So easy to blow dry. Now I can let it air dry and just blow dry it when I want. My frizz is gone. Definitely will be back after the 3 or 4 months for when it wears off. My first yelp review saved for the best. My only complaint is I purchased it on groupon for $99 and in the salon its actually $95. Although it's only cheaper at the salon by $4 it's still annoying how they make it seem like you're saving by purchasing the groupon when in reality you're spending more by purchasing the groupon. So that's why you get 4 stars otherwise you'd get 5. read more

The only reason why this salon has good reviews is because if you give review you will get a discount. People are writing reviews before they finish getting service just for discount. Place is dirty and very tacky!!! No one speaks English good enough to understand what you say. I asked operator if they went to school for this and i was answered no. Went in on Labor Day after having an appointment, I was also switched to an earlier time and after being just a couple minutes late I was turned away. I was furious after pretty much just spending my afternoon driving for nothing and planned to never go again as much as I love their keratin. Sent a message to the owner the next day about my unpleasant experience and not even an hour passed by and got a call back. They gave me a discount and accommodated me on the keratin, shampoos and conditioner. I thought I would be uncomfortable but they made sure I didn't. My hair came out amazing on top of that. I just went to this salon for a haircut and a keratin treatment. The keratin seems to be fine (it's only been a day so it's hard to tell). The haircut, however, is an abomination. At first I thought it looked so bad because it was so straight, so I washed it and didn't straighten it. There was no improvement. Just look at the picture. It's completely uneven! I am so upset and angry. I'm afraid to even go back to ask them to fix it because I don't want these people anywhere near my hair now. I spent $200 at this place and now I have to spend more money to fix this mess. So if you're going for keratin, you should be fine. But don't get a haircut here. My hair was cut by Beny. read more

I tried a few salons for keratins before I discovered Beny's right in my backyard. Always overlooking them because my mixed-breed hair needs experienced hands and full-bodied products. I couldn't image that a salon in Cedarhurst could get the results I needed. But they get it right every time! I'm so glad I switched from perms. My hair finally grows and is so much healthier. I've been coming here for several years now and though I moved away, it's always worth the travel back. And even better: today, at 5months pregnant, they took such good care of me. It was a long debate on whether or not to get it done, but their special formaldehyde-free product (Sleek Touch) is so gentle that I'm happy that I decided to do it. Virtually no smell. They also were so considerate with ventilation, moving me to the main salon away from those getting the regular keratin, tripling my masks, and opening doors. If I wasn't sold before, I am absolutely a Beny's girl for life now... For those of you asking yourselves, "can I get a keratin while pregnant?", I say "YES!!! Let me start off by saying I've been saving my first Yelp review for somewhere I found 100% worthy of a review. This is the place. I've tried countless hair salons and have not been satisfied until now. My natural hair is curly, wavy, frizzy, uncontrollable and always has knots in it and I have been getting keratin done to my hair for a couple years now and nothing seemed to work. No matter where I got the Keratin treatment done, my hair would still frizz and curl. I finally came across this salon, as well as Hair Bar NYC which is connected with Beny's and I decided to check it out based on 3 good reviews. I walked in and a girl kindly walked me about 3 stores down to another salon where they do the keratin treatment. I only waited about 5 minutes until someone was ready to help me. Although the girl who did my hair did not speak any english, she made me feel comfortable and I could tell she knew what she was doing. The whole process took about 2 hours, I have long hair to the middle of my back. They charge $100 for shoulder length so I paid $130, which I was very eager to hand over after the great job they did on my hair!! It's been 4 days since I got the treatment done and honestly, I have never been so happy in my life. The past couple days have been humid and rainy, a usual bad sign for my hair.. Even if I blew it out or straightened it, it would still curl and frizz. But now, my hair has not curled, waved, kinked, frizzed, knotted or anything!!! It's beautiful, soft, straight and SHINEY!! Even after showering... I let it air dry and it still looks flawless... Something I never dreamed happening. HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming here for your next keratin treatment!!! read more

Just received the 24karot Keratin treatment for the second time here and I am just as happy (if not happier) than the first time. Miguelina worked on my hair and she was amazing. So sweet, great to talk to, and did a great time. I have short/medium hair on the thinner side and the treatment only cost $95, so much cheaper than other places on Long Island that I've gotten my hair done at. I think it is terrible that the Salon makes everyone do their Keratin treatments in the "Keratin only" room, when some of the product they use contain formaldehyde, a carcinogen. One of the stylists in the "Keratin only" room was literally wearing a gas mask to avoid inhaling the chemicals. The Salon has a good product that is formaldehyde free that they call "Silk Touch" but they still make all their clients sit in the room with people using the more toxic chemical treatments. I literally couldn't breathe the one time I did my treatment in that room, and my eyes were burning and tearing. For this reason, I switched salons. read more

Stay away! I have never posted on Yelp before but felt obligated to do so after the negative experience we had. My girls had keratin treatment at Beny's. Their hair was damaged and their scalps were burnt from the treatment. AND the treatment didn't straighten their hair. Neither Beny nor his staff were at all sympathetic nor had any interest in trying to fix their hair. Providing keratin treatment requires training. Also, there are different qualities of keratin chemicals on the market. We learned this the hard way. Make sure that your hair salon is properly trained and uses quality products. read more

I bought a groupon for a Keratin Treatment. This Salon website said the treatments were normally at $200. The groupon said the same. I bought the groupon for $99. The groupon also said the Keratin could be washed out in 24 hours. I waited an hour for them to start my hair! Then I was told that there was a charge on top of the groupon. It was based on the length and thickness of my hair. I was told that it should be $45 but because I had to wait so long, they were only charging me $25. Then I saw the price sheet hanging on the wall. Keratin is based on length and starts at $99. My hair normally would have cost $145. Exactly what I paid with the groupon and the extra charge. I saved nothing! When they started, I again asked if this was the Keratin that could be washed out in 24 hours and was told yes. When she was done, she was I should wash it in 3 days. I questioned this and was told that I could wash it in 1 day but it would last longer if I washed it in 3. Sounds like the 3 day treatment to me!!! It remains to be seen how my hair looks after I wash it but based on my experience and the pricing, I will never go back. read more

I have had keratin treatments many times but not at this salon. Took a chance. Got it on Groupon. Staff was pleasant. Most important they did a great job on my hair. I would definitely go back. So I did the groupon for the $99 keratin.I wish I called about prices before buying the groupon. I have hair that goes down to my shoulders and it would of been $95 instead of $99. Anyway the groupofor hair bar NYC but the sign on the door says to check in at Benys which is a couple doors down. Got into Benys, which was such a cute salon. Told the woman at the desk I was getting a keratin, she introduced me to the woman who was doing my hair and she told me we were going back over to hair bar. Hair Bar is like a run down salon, that only does keratin. They need better ventilation in the Salon. They only had the door open which really wasn't doing anything. They offer you a mask To go over your nose and mouth to avoid breathing in the fumes. The fumes were so bad, even with the mask they provide for you to wear, I started to get a headache and light headed. The woman did a great job and offered water and coffee and kept asking me how I was doing and if I was okay. Super sweet and told me every step of the way what she was doing and I really do love how it came out. read more

I have been going to Beny's Hair Salon for a few years now off and on for color. I am always satisfied and very happy with the results after I leave. All of the girls are very friendly and sweet. Beny is very personable and always makes everyone laugh with his jokes. Today I decided that I wanted to do something a little different. I went in with a photo from Pinterest of a girl with violet red hair. I had red colored hair but it was more on the orange end of the spectrum. Beny worked together with one of the girls and did a complete color makeover. He carefully instructed the girls on what to do and did a lot of the coloring himself too. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about lifting my color in order to achieve a rich violet hue, but in the end my hair turned out healthier then when I walked in the door. It was a long day but I came out with color that exceeded my expectations!!! Beny is a true artist and I am very thankful for the superb job on my color!! I have done Keratin about 4 other times but decided to try out Beny's because of the great price. This was the worst decision i have made. Their treatment made my hair REEK for weeks which has never happened to me before. It also has made my hair beyond oily. It doesnt even completely dry because it is just so oily i wash it constantly with non keratin shampoo hoping that this horrible formula will leave my hair. Its a good price but for very bad treatment. You might as well spend the money and do something that will work. read more

This is my third time at Hair Bar NYC 1st time NYC 2 times Cedahurst location. I had the Gel Keratin. There was a lot of confusion about what to do as they were throwing alot of different treatments my way and ultimately settled on the Gel when I probably should not have. The girl doing my hair I felt didn't really understand me. The communications line was rather poor. She was not American. By the time I got home I had a huge kink in the back of my hair and the same for by ears and the front bangs. This is defiantly not the same experiences I have had twice earlier. I know what to do. I know what to expect and I just washed my hair its just about 4 days at 2pm and bay what a mess it is. I had two amazing experiences prior to this one what a shame as I traveled over an hour to get there and said they gave me there longest running stylist thats been there over 2 years. I went on the recommendation of a friend and bought a $100 package foe 3 color treatments. The first of which came out dull and flat so I went back a mere two weeks later and asked the owner to do a single color process this time using a more red tone . He got all offended was extremely insulting. Told me I must be a bored housewife and proceeded to instruct the girl to do something with foil sheets. He then left the salon . I told him I was neither bored nor a housewife and that had I not prepaid for the service would have walked out of his establishment then and there. Needless to say it came out streaky and I now have to go somewhere else to fix it . My third treatment us up for grabs for anyone who wants it. I will not be going back any time soon . In a service industry you listen to what your client is trying to express its not about you. But he was too wrapped up with his own ego. A shame. Because I certainly did not ask for hi lights. Omg this place is terrible! Let me start off by saying that they are very misleading. I purchased a Brazilian keratin through groupon that said $250.00 and with the groupon I paid $99. 00. Well guess what their regular price for their Brazilian hair treatment is $95.00 !! Their is a sign that clearly states it. So why are they misleading Groupon because they are the ones that report their prices to groupon. I will tell you why! Because there treatment are the lowest kind of Keratin hair treatment. The very next morning i woke up with damaged hair. Worst then when I first went in there. The treatments are suppose to improve your hair not make it worst . Then when I called the lady who said she was the owner was very rude and unsympathetic and had no interest in trying to fix it. They continue to tell me that my hair got that way from becoming wet. I told the girl that I did not wet my hair. The owner and the worker insisted that I did wet my hair. At this point I was very annoyed and told the worker ok can you stop saying that I wet my hair because I didn't I woke up this way. The worker said to me ok wait here and went to the owner and said that I was being very nasty with them. Not at all they refused to take responsibility for their incompetence . Oh and let me point out that they finally decided to blowout my ends. I had such a terrible experience a few days ago. I have gone to this salon for years and received the same 24 hour keratin each time. For the first time I booked online and somehow booked a different service. I didn't realize that they put in the wrong treatment into my hair until after an employee put products into my hair. I questioned what was in my hair and the employee barely answered my question and walked away. Another employee tried to stand up for me but the employee who was working on my hair threw a temper tantrum. The receptionist came in and offered me a discount on getting the 24 hour keratin at another time. She didn't get that all I wanted was the 24 hour keratin treatment at that point in time. Why would I ever go back to a salon where they will put whatever they want in your hair? I'd rather pay more money and go somewhere else. Terrible service!!!
