We were just at Berberian's farm and are totally grossed out. Wear your masks to come into our farm store yet the cashier lady pulls her mask down, wipes her nose with a dirty tissue. , buggers on her nose and puts her mask back up She doesn't clean her hands and proceeds to touch the next persons food. Groooossss On top of that. Cash only and the cashiers are taking ATM cards for the lazy sob who felt his time was more valuable than others and didn't take the time to get his cash . Obsessed with the variety of seedlings that they offer: haven't found green zebra tomatoes anywhere else, and also particularly obsessed with the purple cherry tomatoes. They also offer herbs, peppers, eggplant, beans, peas, broccoli, rhubarb, chives, zucchini, other squash, melon I believe? Awesome place, great people. Also love the farm stand. Berberian's Farm is a family owned farm right here in Northborough-lucky us! Many of the fields are right outside the stand, so you can see your produce growing! If they don't grow it, they source much of the rest of their stock from local farms. Unfortunately (& this is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars), there is more "imported" stock than necessary. The produce they do grow is right out of the fields, that morning or moments before you purchase it. You can find many vegetables that you may not be familiar with, but that's what Google is for! Pick up something you know nothing about and Google a recipe! Their Silver King corn is delicious! There are also Armenian (I believe) baked goods as well as pies-fruit & pot that you can take home and enjoy right away. We live in town and have been going there for years. The produce is good however they use a ton of plastic bags . We have a plastic bag ban in Northboro . Each separate item of produce get its own plastic bag ( not the thin little bags that the grocery stores use but large plastic bags like we used to get at check out). Then the cashier loads those plastic bags into another plastic bag at check out . The owner has no interest is taking any measures to reduce the use of these bags which do not degrade fill our land fills and work their way into out oceans . We addressed this with the owner recently . This is a deal breaker for us. Many other small farms in the area and they do not use the quantity of plastic this place does. read more

There are a lot of vegetables and fruits to choose from but they didn't look too fresh. A lot of the vegetables weren't firm nor rich in color. As for the prices they were a bit expensive compared to grocery stores but again they grow their own produce. read more

I wish I lived closer to farms like this but I do not. Anyways, I was in market for vegetable plants, not knowing where to go, my baby momma, Dawn E, suggested and then brought me to Berberian's Farm. They had so so so many varieties of tomatoes, but the first thing i said was NOOOO TO RED! And then I found it!! The heirlooms and all decently priced at about $1.25 per plant. They had EXACTLY the few varieties that I was looking for and was (Still am) completely excited. They have a very good selection of all kinds of herbs and vegetables, so if you are in the area or if you want to take a little country drive then make your way here. This is an unadorned farmstand. They grow most of the produce that they sell. When corn and tomatoes are in season, there's no better place to buy them. Their scallions, cousa squash and kale are good buys too. If you want plain and simple fresh grown produce, this is the place. Their help rotates through but know that cash only is their policy. I've been buying at this vegetable stand for 10 years. No frills, friendly staff & you know the produce is as fresh as it gets. Just bought an on-sale Romaine lettuce bundle at Stop & Shop in a hurry & it rotted in 3 days. Salvaged a few leaves & chucked all of it. No soft tomatoes or limp lettuce at this farm. I've lived near Berberian's for 35 years and shop more than once/week during the season. Today I took in 2 local peaches that I had bought there 3 days ago. I had cut a slice out of each to see if they were ripe. They had absolutely no flavor. I asked for my money back and was told that once their stuff leaves the store, no refunds. (Am I supposed to stand there and taste everything before I take it home?). Asked for the manager or owner, was told that I was talking to him. Told him how long I've been a customer. He didn't care. Won't be going back. Too bad - their corn is great. They chose to lose a good customer over $2.50 worth of peaches. read more

Love this place stopped by yesterday and got some nice lettuce, corn, basil and parsley all of which were their own. Most of the other fruits, veggies etc are locally sourced but they let you know what is their own and what isn't. Prices are good and service is great. As noted it is cash only. If you are anywhere near by and it is in season, it is worth the stop. read more

Disappointed. I've driven by multiple times and the area is beautiful but when I was finally able to stop by today I was looking for something specific. I asked the lady in the shop area and she was very rude in directing me to the products. I had some questions about the products and I felt utterly dismissed and unwanted. Sweet Butter Corn on the Cob! Nothin' says New England like fresh corn on the cob! Berberian's has some of the best corn ever. Summer nights would not be complete without chewing on luscious cobs of freshly boiled or grilled corn with butter drippin' down your chin....mmmm, good eats! They have a great array of fresh vegetables. We can't get enough of the radishes, cucumbers, squash, peppers (sweet and hot!), and of course, corn. You can also grab some prepared dishes, dressings, and local breads at the stand. Great meals in minutes. We love Berberians. No trip is complete without some of their pressed butter cookies filled with chopped nuts too! read more

Why aren't there more places like this? This is a giant farm stand or more accurately a stand-alone produce department. They have great produce, much of it grown by them, and most of it local. The food is very good. I love the corn and tomatoes. My issue is the owner will come in and yell at of the workers instead of pulling them in the back. I was there when he came in and made one of his female workers cry. I don't think that is necessary and professional. After that show, two of the female workers started to argue near the registers. I shop frequently and notice that some of the signs say "our own" but notice some of the tomatoes have a wax covering them. And I see broccoli being put out and the box says its from Mexico. I just question what is really all grown at the farm and what is really not. read more

I'm so disappointed with Berberian's today! I shop there almost weekly. I spend between $30-$40 each week. I'm a mother with an infant and I am known to the employees. Last week, I purchased 6 avocados for .99 cents each. Unfortunately, they never ripened. They stayed hard. When I cut them open to confirm what I already suspected, they were rotten. They were from Peru, and I'm certain they were picked unripened, and for whatever reason, never continued to ripen. I stopped in today to do my regular shopping. Although I did not have the rotten avocados in the baby's diaper bag. I expected Berberian's to honor me as a customer and replace $6 worth of bad avocados. All I wanted was good avocados. That's all. Berberian's refused to replace my avocados as I did not have the rotten ones on me, nor did I have my receipt from last week. I don't know if I was even given a receipt last week, and if I was, it's probably at the bottom of a diaper bag or plastered across the bottom of a wet sippy cup. Any grocery store I have ever shopped at will honor a customers word concerning bad produce. This is Trader Joe's policy. This is Wegman's policy--and their customer service associates don't even know me! But yet, at Berbarians where I am seen each week, my word was not honored and no one saw fit to replace my measly $6 worth of rotten avocados. I walked out of Berbarians today with an empty cart and a crying baby. It's a shame the owners haven't empowered their employees to do the right thing. You know, I wish I had saved the 6 rotten avocados so they could have continued to rot in Berberian's trash can and not in mine. I tried to talk to the owner on a quiet day recently about the massive amount of plastic bags they use - shoppers take them for each separate item; I've been noticing this for a couple of years. I wanted to offer to help, to devise a way to incentivize people to bring their own bags, or at the very least to suggest signs encouraging people to bring their own reusable bags. I couldn't talk to him, because he cut me off right from the beginning, stating that his bags are legal, and that if I'm concerned, I should have the Health Department contact him to discuss it. He didn't care in the least that there is a crisis with tons of plastic ending up in the oceans and other waterways. He didn't care that my husband and I have been long-time customers. He was remarkably rude to me, even though I was truly being polite. He even got in my face and threatened to call the police, if I didn't leave immediately. I was shocked and actually felt threatened. I will never go back. It was an awful experience, and more troubling was his total lack of concern for the environment. I certainly didn't expect him to get rid of all has plastic bags at that moment. I only wanted a few minutes of his time to discuss options, and he was rude, actually belligerent, from the outset. Awful business owner, awful place. There are many other farm stands, as this former Northborough customer is finding out. read more

5.99 for a package of blueberries that are sealed. I bought 2 for shortcake after inspecting them to the extent that I could. Its been a hot, humid week. I expect to have to sort through and pick out berries that have gone bad. However, after paying extra for local produce, its disappointing to come home and find that over half of the berries are fuzzy and moldy. Judging from other reviews, this is an isolated incident, however there is just not way the staff could not have noticed the extent of the rot. It should have never been put out for sale. read more

Not only do they have great produce but also great garden plants for sale if you are trying it yourself. Way better plants than most big box stores and better prices too. As far as produce, I love that they label their own and also others by location. I think that the prices on their own vegetables are more than fair - no 'local-grown' gouging here. Purchased a 1/2 bushel of tomatoes, got home and half were rotten. This is the third time Berberians has sold me rotten produce. Went back to exchange them for non-rotten and the guy refused. Was dismissive and belligerent and not a nice person. Didn't even look in the box. I'm also finding better prices elsewhere. Bye bye! Switched over to Harvey's, much better. This is the best farm stand in the area. The fresh produce is superb, and the variety is unequaled. Tons of varieties of lettuce, greens, and herbs. I live for their little pickling cukes. The corn melts in your mouth. I go their at least once or twice a week in the summer. I really miss it in the off season:( FYI, no credit /debit cards. read more

What is with the children working at this place. I've never seen such rude help. The plants are wonderful and I love the farm store but the help..... We were greeted by a nice young lady who was very pleasant until we left when we heard her tell her father how she said "Have a nice day to us." The comment was not intended to be nice. If his children don't want to work there maybe he should hire some outside people who would be happy for a job. We were there when the place was quiet. I can only imagine what it would be like when it was busy. So produce great and staff needs a lot of work. read more
