Everything was fantastic the flavors the pairings the service shelf for all! We went in for a late dinner so we had the entire place to ourselves. That made for an even more personal and romantic interlude. An intimate setting as well as a cozy cafe atmosphere I'm sure it depends on the time of day. I will never miss another opportunity to visit this place agin when in town

Very good casual neighborhood French restaurant. The clam appetizer in garlic and parsley was excellent. The cassoulet was delicious, especially the sausage and pork belly. Salad and albacore tuna were very good. Waitress was very friendly. The only thing I wish were better was the glass wine selection ... given how many great wineries are around Portland, it would be nice to see some more expensive selections ...

This was a wonderful splurge. Between the three of us, we had the Pork Belly, Escargot, Cassoulet, Poisson, Coq au Vin, GF bread, Crème Brûlée, and Sorbet. I can't have gluten and dairy so I had the Pork Belly appetizer and Poisson with potatoes instead of rice (which was prepared with either gluten or dairy, I can't remember). My daughter had the Coq au Vin, and we had them put the butter on the side, so I could try it. IMO, the flavor of the Coq au Vin surpassed the Poisson. However, the sockeye salmon they used in the Poisson was superb, and sat up from the sauce, on the mushrooms and potatoes. I couldn't try my husband's Cassoulet, but he said it was delicious. They also quite enjoyed their escargot and Crème Brûlée. The GF bread that you can ask for (I recommend asking for it when you order the appetizers) was delicious and soft! I put my pork belly on it and wow, so good. We are looking forward to going back one day!

Intimate French restaurant in Portland eastside. Great for date night or small groups. Inside seats less than 30 people, plus outdoor patio seating. One server took care of whole place, pace was leisurely. Friend and I shared two course menus 1 appetizer + 2 mains + 1 dessert Burrata - tomato paste bit overpowering. Wished had more baguette to spread out. Duck confit with string beans, potatoes and jam sauce - duck was rich (a little salty) and jam sauce was important to help to balance. String beans al dente Poisson - black cod was melt in your mouth. Wild rice fine, though on hard side. Would prefer fluffier. Tomato sauce - not my preferred. Pot au chocolate - sweet and rich ending . The strawberry and jam helped to balance. Didn't look like much in beginning but was filling (all that butter and cream!)

I don't have a single bad thing to say about Bergerac. We had high hopes and our expectations were absolutely met. We had several dishes, our favorite by far was the manilla clams appetizer, but the cassoulet was a close second. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a warm cozy vibe that made me feel like I was at a friend's house for dinner. The dining room was dimly lit with tiny candles at each table, which I always appreciate. The weather was rainy and moody outside, and it added to the cozy ambiance.

I was recently in Paris and had Duck Confit many times and Bergerac Duck was as good. The cocktails were amazing as well as the service. Michelle was great and very friendly. Highly recommended. One more thing, the Lemon Posset was beyond good

Came here to celebrate a birthday, and will certainly be back. Every dish was delicious, and the food quality and portions were great for the price especially. We left very full, and excited to come back to try more dishes. They have a decent selection of drinks as well- there were several tasty sounding cocktails I'll return to try, but on our visit I was pregnant and enjoyed a tasty shrub. They have indoor and outdoor dining, and we were quickly seated at a patio seat with a reservation, and service was very friendly. Highly recommend stopping here for dinner.

Sunday morning at 11am my husband and I got a seat at the bar. It was pretty busy. As usual the fresh croissant was amazing, flakey, and buttery. I had the chefs omelette for the first time. It was exactly as I wanted it and the hash browns were nice and crunchy. My husband had the corned beef hash and it was so flavorful and delicious. I will order that next time. Ambiance is great and service was fast and friendly.

I was treated crappily by staff who I observed saying my order was not their responsibility. Not everyone there was bad. The initial service I got was good, but my coffee was so poorly slapped together because I spoke up. My sandwich was also slapped together missing ingredients I paid for, so enjoy the extra money I guess. Here's how the interaction went. I was assured my mocha would be ready in a few minutes, before my food, from a really nice staff person who too my to-go order. They instructed me where to stand. I watched the person put together my mocha. All that was needed was ice. My food came out quickly and I took it while waiting for my drink. 15 minutes passed. Two staff members looked at my drink and one said "who put this here " and another person said "I don't know, not my problem". I spoke up and said "hey that's my drink and if you put ice in it, I promise I'll get out of your way" - it was busy and packed. I was trying to be understanding. One of them made a disgusted face at me and said "I was gonna put ice in it!!!" ... wow. Eventually they did. And did it so sloppily that there was mocha all over the drink. The top was put on poorly and the drink spilled all over me. I tried to tell another server who was greeting and seating people but they kept saying "oh it's okay! It's totally fine" - no, it actually isn't. I get it. You don't want my business of 15+ years, but there are nicer ways of conveying that. I was ripped off and treated in a way I don't treat my enemies. But just like my order, that's "not your problem", right?

We genuinely enjoy discovering new culinary destinations, from thoughtfully curated interiors and elevated ambiance to the creativity and execution behind each menu. Above all, however, the food is what leaves a lasting impression. Given the experience and investment, we fully expected to leave feeling satisfied. Unfortunately, despite an evening that included a bottle of wine, cocktails, and over $400 tab for two, we both walked away feeling surprisingly underwhelmed and still somewhat hungry. The most memorable part was the dessert. We understand and appreciate the concept of a seasonal tasting menu, but we were under the impression that the progression of courses would ultimately feel more complete. Interestingly, your neighboring restaurant embraces a similar dining philosophy, yet we consistently leave feeling both delighted and fully satisfied. While there were certainly aspects of the experience we enjoyed, the overall meal simply didn't deliver the sense of fulfillment we had anticipated. The service was nothing to brag about.

I'm going to be thinking about those Foie Gras Dumplings for quite a long time…read more All items I tried last night at Canard were creative, flavorful, well presented and reasonably priced. The garlic fries were spicy in the best way, perfectly crisp, and served steaming hot. The Duck Stack (pancakes covered with duck gravy, onions, and a duck egg) sounded a bit odd to me (and probably many others). When I asked the server if it was good, they told me that people travel to the restaurant specifically for that dish. I'm glad I tried it. Again, very unique with a well balanced spice profile paired with the delicious undertones of a hot pancake. I know I would have never thought of that, doesn't sound like it should work, but....it worked! Service was great, atmosphere was a bit loud with a band playing next door, it was a bit overwhelming, plus a random dude walked into the restaurant and a server lit his joint for him as a courtesy(?)...stunk the place up for a few minutes, but as I thought about it, I decided that was about the most "Portland" thing I had seen all week on my trip :) I'll be going back for sure, I would love to taste through that entire menu.
