I was in town for an overnight work trip and was meeting a local friend for brunch. She suggested this restaurant and it was an easy 5 minute walk from my hotel ( the Residence Inn Berkeley). I love the Asian fusion Vibe of the menu and it was a hard decision as so many things looked unique and delicious. I went with the Beef Bulgogi Benedict minus the English muffins underneath. They came with the most deliciously crispy potatoes and it was EGGcellent! And you know I had to get the Ube latte (with soy milk). The Latte was not too sweet which I appreciated. Our server was friendly and attentive and our order was right. My friend got the brussel sprout hash (which was going to be my second choice) and it was equally tasty. She got the coconut latte which was made with coconut milk and not real Dairy and she loved both. I would definitely come back read more

We celebrated our friend's birthday brunch here this past weekend and the back patio was perfect for our party size and fur babies! We had about 30 people plus 3 dogs so it was nice to be able to move around and mingle amongst our friends. The setup/ ambience makes this place a perfect spot for brunch dates, bridal showers, birthday parties.. and so much more. Before I talk about the food I must admit, I am not a fan of fusion food. It's usually a miss for me so please take my ratings of the dishes with a grain of salt. What I like or dislike might not be what you like or dislike. Ok, enough of my ranting. Top Dishes: Club Moco: The best dish of day. The patty was thick and the kimchi was the perfect acidity to lighten the gravy sauce. I would order this again. 5/5 Pimped Up Ramyun: Spicy and flavorful. I didn't care for the bacon. 4/5 Bulgogi Benedict: Tender, flavorful meat and I love that there were some mixed veggies. It somewhat balanced out the heaviness of the dish. Korean.FC bites: Yummy! Crispy bonelsss chicken with a light batter! 5/5 Missed Dishes: Millionaire Bacon: Great seasoning but the bacon was not crispy. Not worth the $12 size order of 4 pieces. 1/5 Waffles + Korean.F.C: Their chicken is crispy and juice but the waffles were dry. 3/5 Supreme Jook: No. There's too much going on that it was overwhelming in flavors. This is a hard pass for me. 1/5 Egg in Purgatory: This dish has so much potential but the tomato stew was too watery and bland. 2/5 Although I wasn't a huge fan of the food, the service was top notch and was a 5/5 in my books! I wished I remembered our server's name. She was so friendly, calm and checked on us multiple times. Overall, this is a good spot for small or large party events! read more

Ever since I've moved to East Bay, I've been hunting down for brunch spots. Finally got the chance to try out Berkeley Social Club and it did not disappoint! It is only street parking and during peak hours, it can be hard to find, so I suggest going a bit off hours. The restaurant was actually pretty big with lots of seatings (and people). Felt like a typical western brunch spot tbh (but it's fusion). We got the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) and Waffles, the Ahi Tuna Benedict, and Bottomless Mimosas. KFC & Waffles - 5/5 - The amount of fried chicken on this platter is amazing, and thank god it's not basic tenders and waffles. These chicken are actually battered, fried and goes so well with the waffles and maple syrup. I added hot sauce on the side cause that's a must for me. Overall, probably one of my favorite Chicken and Waffles dishes. Ahi Tuna Eggs Benedict - 3/5 - I honestly had pretty low expectations for this cause everything just sounded like it'd be a weird mix, but I wanted to try it. I can say it was just alright and I probably won't get it again. Bottomless Mimosas - 5/5 - For $24 and 90 minutes, it was pretty awesome cause our amazing server just kept coming and refilling the glass for us LOL Food was good - I probably want to try other things they have. Most things were around the $20-30 range, which IMO is kinda expensive but that's just how the Bay is. Ambience and service is dope. Overall, I'd come back! read more

Haha, I forgot I had eaten here before. Just wrote a new review for a recent visit. 6 of my running friends from work plus some SO came here post the Berkeley Half Marathon to celebrate our 5k race in mid Nov. We were all in high spirits so this meal started on a very positive note. The place is huge with a high ceiling, classy yet casual ; we elected to sit outside since the weather was pleasant. I ordered the Irish coffee which was just OK. Nothing compares to The Buena Vista in SF. For my meal, I ordered the Bulgogi Scramble, it had good meat and appropriate veggies. The meal was expensive, $12 for drink and $24 for scramble. But I enjoyed it and it was a special occasion. read more

Came here after a bad experience at another spot, and I'm really glad we did everything happens for a reason. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and quick, which made a big difference. I asked our waitress for her recommendation and went with the Blackstone Benedict definitely the right choice. The food not only looked amazing but it tasted even better. My wife ordered the vegan tofu plate and absolutely loved it. Great service, great food, and a welcoming vibe. We found our new go to breakfast spot when we're in the area. read more

Food is truly a form of art, and I love how BSC puts just as much care into visual presentation as they do into flavor. Everything I've tried--from brunch dishes to salads--has been absolutely divine. I'm confident I could pick anything off the menu and be impressed. It is slightly pricier but well worth it if aesthetics and thoughtful plating matter to you. read more

Berkley Social Club is located just down the street from UC Berkley. Is it gonna be busy? Yup. Packed with lively college students? Yes. Is it smart to put a reservation in? Absolutely. The food here tastes great and looks great too! My girlfriend got the Blackstone Benedict with millionaire bacon. We really got it for the millionaire bacon, the eggs came with the bacon. I got the Mascarpone Blueberry Stuffed Crunch French Toast. They definitely got that crunch to accompany the fantastic lightly sweet french toast. Could've done with more fruits but I'm being picky at this point. We got a hot Dirty Ube Latte. The normal Ube Latte comes with chai. Get the dirty version if you want (or need) that caffeine. This place is lively and looks busy most of the time. A great place to spend your brunch time. read more

Get here early--this place always has a line! If you arrive anytime after lunch, expect to wait 45-65 minutes. But honestly, it's so worth it. The food was absolutely scrumptious! I've never been a fan of Eggs Benedict, but this place completely changed my mind. This might be the only spot I'll actually order it from going forward. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a nice bonus depending on the weather. Totally worth the wait! read more

I can't say enough about this place - but I will try. The food is so amazing. Everything my table ordered was unbelievably good. And the dishes a super unique. This is not your cookie cutter brunch spot. And the Millionaire Candy bacon is worth all of the hype. Also unlike other brunch spot the portion sizes are huge and the prices are totally reasonable. So, this is a fun and delish gathering place. When we were invited to a birthday brunch in Berkeley, we were scared. Berkeley? Is there anything else than Top Dog there. Oh my, please forgive me Berkeley. We had a blast! So, Berkeley Social Club is the cousin of Surisan in SF. So, everything in the menu feels .... exciting, different, intriguing. Brussel Sprouts Hash, Bulgogi Benedict, KFC waffles, Dirty Ube Latte. We were intrigued and did not mind to pay for it. Are they great food to eat? I'm going to join the millennials to look at the dish as a whole; taste and experience. I had fun taking pictures of the dishes. They were pretty and interesting looking. Therefore, they are 5stars! (The x in me: psssst.... not everything was good. They were potatoes, eggs, meat and flour) Service: It's an uber busy place. It's not a place where you sit, enjoy your morning, enjoy your food and companion place. Maybe because we were there on Saturday brunch hours? Hard to get service. All servers and helpers were sprinting from one table to another. After a while it's a blur who was our server. When we tried to just flag anyone, we were either ignored nor told to let our server know. We kept asking until we got the right person. That part was not pleasant. I was really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. When our food arrived, almost everything was slightly warm, which made it really hard to enjoy the meal. It felt like the dishes either sat too long before being served or weren't properly finished in the kitchen. But cold food just isn't acceptable, and it completely took away from the experience. I hope the kitchen works on timing and quality control; this review would've been very different otherwise. I was also concerned to see the ice bin left uncovered and fully exposed in a busy dining area. Ice is considered food, and leaving it uncovered raises sanitation and food-safety concerns, especially with customers and staff moving around nearby. read more

Okay!!!! You have to go to this place! The interior is excellent the vibe is cool and the atmosphere was just fun. The servers were all just fabulous. I felt a team work from the entire front house staff. The menus is Korean crazy cool. Who puts cheese on Gyozo dumplings? That was mega good. The menu has so many great fun and delicious selection you have to go here a few times or just order a bunch of things and eat until you can't move. My coworker and I ate both adventurous eaters and we ordered 4 appetizers. I only slapped 1 pic because everything was so great we just dug in. This place was GREAT!!! read more

A M B I E N C E They're so child friendly and even gave my kiddo unlimited shrimp chips with our appetizer order. F O O D - The Millionaire bacon was so good, but pricey of course. - Kimchi fried rice was ok. - Braised Pork Belly was delicious. I ended up eating it all after we took it for leftovers going home. Wow. Insanely the best club moco i've ever tasted. I love the portion of the food, very tasty and everything just makes sense. I tried club moco in few other restaurants and I dare to say that this by far is one of the best club moco i've had. The egg is perfectly runny, the meat is juicy, soft, kimchi is fresh, gravy so good! The place itself is so cute! Perfect place to catch up with friends or even a solo date!! I've been going back and forth about whether I should leave a review, but considering that my partner and I have been coming to Berkeley Social Club for many years, I feel it is important to share what happened today and why we will not be returning. We both ordered the Korean Fried Chicken burger. When the food arrived, the fries were served half hot and half cold. Some were burnt. It was immediately clear they had been sitting out and reheated, not freshly prepared. The real issue was the chicken. The center of my partner's patty was visibly raw and completely inedible. I have attached a photo so you can judge for yourself. When I brought it to the server's attention, he told me that was impossible because the chicken is reheated in the microwave. That comment left me stunned. It confirmed what we had already suspected, that the food was not fresh. We were seated close enough to the kitchen to hear the microwave going off repeatedly, which only added to our concerns. Since leaving the restaurant, both of us have started feeling sick, and we were perfectly fine earlier in the day. We are now genuinely worried about food poisoning. As someone who lives in Berkeley and has supported this place for years, I am disappointed. This did not feel like a one-time mistake. It was a complete breakdown in quality, food safety, and accountability. I never thought I would say this, but we will not be coming back. read more

Stopped by this place for a quick meal. The decorations for the holidays were so nice and the vibe was perfect. The food took a while to come out but it was decent. A little pricey but we definitely got what we ordered. Everything was a lot more asian than we expected but it was good. Haven't been in a hot minute but this spot remains a great option for brunch in the area. Love the fusion options for breakfast and service has always been decent. This place offers Asian- American fusion food. Filled with college kids during weekend brunch hours. I have been here a couple times. The service was great and attentive. Menu price was on the higher size. Good portion was big. The ricotta lemon pancake that I tried, I would expected more for that price. A lot of carbs, it's way more than I could have. Just an average taste, it will be nice if it comes with a little more berries. Their famous bacon was popular here. It tasted great but a little too greasy and heavy for breakfast. read more

Such a fun and popular Korean-American fusion brunch spot in Berkeley, CA!! The brunch menu is definitely than their dinner menu. I've been here twice! For brunch, I've gotten the Bulgogi BSC burger + Korean FC eggs Benedict and both were insanely good. For dinner, we got the curry noodles (added Korean fried chicken), the Cali burger, and the dolsot with bulgogi. Everything was so yummy, but definitely a bit overpriced. The service is quick and they keep refilling our water! The restaurant is in downtown Berkeley and has cute date vibes (saw SO many couples here lol)! read more

My go to for Berkeley Brunch. Whether it's the Korean Fried Chicken or the Salmon Benedict, palates are always full of sweet and spicy and colorful favors. Bottomless mimosas on separate occasions have been very memorable although service will stop if you reach a certain point. Ambiance is loud but balanced out by a spacious main floor. Personal recommendations are the Ube Latte, very great. read more

First time coming here and the ramen is so flippin cute!!! My friend ordered the ramen with the million dollar bacon and I got the crab eggs Benedict. What I didn't like about my meal was the hollandaise sauce has wasabi in it and I'm glad I asked for it on the side because I didn't even use it. The asparagus was cooked really well and tasted surprisingly delicious! I tried the ramen and I actually like it, they added mushrooms and other veggies into it which was a nice touch. The whole restaurant was ridiculously loud and I definitely see people having trouble hearing their friend/significant other across the table from them. The staff was very friendly and they were quick to bring our dishes and clean up. I kept having to ask them for water even though they could see my empty cup. The atmosphere is very vibey, the food was alright, but the prices were a reach. I thought it was too expensive for the quality of food we got. The really big downside to this place is the parking situation. It took me a solid 15 minutes of looking for street parking and finally found a spot I had to pay for. I don't see myself coming back because of the parking inconvenience and the overpriced food. read more

One of my fav brunch spots! And it's dog friendly!! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service is great and super friendly. Club Moco - my go to order. Their loco moco is delicious and the gravy is perfection. Pimped Up Ramyeon - shin ramen elevated with a side of millionaires bacon. Very tasty. Unique food in a comfy casual place right by Cal campus. We came by on Sunday before noon to join the wait-list. We were seated in about 25 minutes. Along the sides of the restaurant are tables with benches and cushions, and luckily we got one of these tables. We ordered the pimped up Ramyun and dutch pancake. The waitress mentioned the dutch pancake takes about 20 minutes to prepare which was fine. What's interesting is, the Ramyun took 20 minutes to arrive, which I attribute to a backed up kitchen. Looking around at the parties who were seated moments before us, they didn't have their food yet either. The pancake came after 30 minutes and it was beyond delicious! I loved the crispy edges with the soft moist bottom. All the toppings went well with the pancake and it all went down our throats lickety split. The Ramyun was more addicting than I anticipated. The noodles were great and the candied bacon strip was a nice touch. It's really busy here and the wait staff are always moving around doing something. They have a positive attitude and are responsive when you get their attention. They are very focused on what catches their eyes like clearing tables but it can take time to get someone's attention since no one was looking up from their tasks. My husband's water was refilled three times while we were there and my water sat empty. Perhaps my cup was a stretch as I sat inside. I highly recommend coming here as part of your day in Berkeley! My mom would be very displeased and shocked if I told her I paid $20 on rice porridge today. But I would tell her that it had all the fancy fixings and more in it than what we would expect in a traditional bowl of Chinese rice porridge or jook. Every bite was an explosion of different flavors. It was intense. If I order this again I'll ask to have it toned down a bit or put all the fixings in the side. read more

I came to Berkeley for a food event but it didn't turn out how I expected it to be. So I looked around the downtown area to see what was good. This place popped up on my search, so I said "why not" So upon arrival, you sign in to be on the waitlist but luckily mine was just a 2 minute or so. The menu is a more Korean-American fusion which I love. I love Korean food so I was excited to see bulgogi on their menu and what not. I ordered the bulgogi scrambled and it was perfect. The meat had a sweetness taste with it that went well with the other condiments. The roasted potatoes were cooked perfectly. Nicely seasoned. The toast was a nice pair with the eggs. The only downside was my table was a little sticky but that's it. Interior wise is beautiful, big screen t.v.'s everywhere. My friend showed us this place and I absolutely loved it! The ambiance is so nice to catch up with friends and I would definitely come here again. The servers were super attentive and friendly. Ube Latte: 5/5 -- The coffee and ube flavors were SO GOOD blended together. I usually don't drink coffee but I finished this so fast. G.I. Fried Rice: 5/5 -- Absolutely amazing. Such great portions and seasoning. Udon Sauté: 3.5/5 -- I personally did not like the flavor of this udon but the texture was great and my friends liked it. We happened to be in the area and wanted a good brunch spot so decided on the Social Club. Just like Sweet Maple and Surisan the KFC and millionaires bacon is great. What really stood out fir me was the rice porridge. Love the take they do here. Very flavorful especially with the bacon. The dirty ube latte also hit the mark. Parking can be tough but there is a garage around the block. Staff are awesome and cocktails also spot on. read more

The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!

The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.

It took well over what felt like 20-30 minutes from our 1st order to our 2nd Chef's Choice dish. That negatively impacted our experience, but it happens. And the burger was a complete joke. Their "special sauce" is just cheap mayonnaise mixed with some of that cheap ketchup (that is probably from a huge can from the top corporate food distributor.) People listing that this is one of their favorite burgers are really missing out on some experiences in life, or they're eating them after their third double IPA... It's a beautiful place, great yard area. But the food needs to open a new document and start again. I can't believe how much it cost for how horrible it was. I'm in shock.

I love a won ton chip and these were giant and perfect with my fish. The fish came in a lovely sauce. So perfect! Such a great spot! I had a great time chatting it up with Aurora and eating yummy food. I love finding places that are somewhat nearby because it gives me a great excuse to come again.

I recently visited Berkeley Social Club for brunch and ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Benedict. The dish was fantastic--the chicken had a perfect texture, the flavors were spot on, and the presentation was impressive. The Yukon Gold potatoes served on the side were crispy and full of flavor, making for a delicious meal overall. However, my experience was marred by poor service. I ordered bottomless mimosas, and my first mimosa was a flavor that I didn't enjoy. I left half of it in the glass, anticipating that my server would replace it when she returned. When she came to refill, I politely asked for a different flavor, explaining that I didn't like the first one. Instead of accommodating my request, she insisted--quite forcefully--that I chug the remainder of the drink before she would bring me a new one. Despite telling her several times that I didn't want to finish the mimosa, she raised her voice and demanded that I do so. I felt disrespected and uncomfortable with how she handled the situation. Good customer service is crucial in the hospitality industry, and this incident was a clear miss. I didn't understand why it was such a big deal to get a fresh glass, especially after I made it clear that I didn't enjoy the original flavor & did not want to drink it. Looking back, I wish I asked for the manager at this point instead of complying with her. I am the paying customer after all. In summary, while the food at Berkeley Social Club was delicious, the service left much to be desired. Came here for brunch with a group of 4 on a Sunday so I was worried about the wait. However, we were seated shortly after arriving as spots opened up outside. The outside seating area is cute with bench style seating and a corn hole game, but much smaller than the inside eating area. This place is Korean fusion and I was very excited to try their KFC (Korean fried chicken). I ended up getting the KFC tacos with a sweet mimosa. The tacos were good with fresh avocado and salsas, but the KFC was sadly underwhelming. I liked the flavoring of the batter on the chicken, but where was the sauce? And it wasn't as crispy as I like so that was disappointing. I also tried some of the stuffed French toast which is good but very filling! Would recommend sharing that with a couple others because I could only eat about a fourth of it. The millionaires bacon was also pretty good, and I'm not a fan of bacon :P It's thick cut and has a sweetness to it from the brown sugar, not as smoky as regular bacon. I'm not sure I would come out to Berkeley just for this place again, but would be willing to try again. read more

Love this place!!! I came here on a busy Saturday night with my friend. The food was great and the service even better. We have to wait just a little bit for table even they are very busy. The Korean fusion food is very inspired. We order Takoball and Dino foot as appetizer. Also the Galbi(grilled shot rib Korean style) and Galbi tang(Galbi soup and it come with rice) as our entree. Everything we ordered here was amazing and our water glass never been empty. The servers always come back to check on us and refill water. They are very friendly and smiles all the time. I like that!!! Great atmosphere. The decorations so beautiful, I like their colorful pillow and wall. Can't wait to come back to check out their brunch and try the famous Millionaire's Bacon (I heard so much about it) PS. They have FULL BAR & 40 BEERS ON TAP!!! read more

Best food Best service Best area I and my family went there for visit our kid. Got recommended from my friend who live in Berkeley. Well, why not right?!? It is worst to try. We order and shared as family style but the one that I like the most is Shishito pepper, BSC Buns and Million's wrap. Also staff were so nice. They come check on us very often and also help me change cocktails for me(it's was super good but it a little bit too spicy for me Tamarido. So I changed to Berkeley sour;)) I really like the service mind. Restaurant is very big and I think it is great for the event or wedding party as well. The mood of the person sets the tone for the rest of the evening. We had planned to spend the evening at the beach, and we were able to do so at the Social Tap as well. It was a busy and energetic atmosphere. The personnel was pleasant and efficient. While we waited for our server, another waitress, who was unable to serve alcohol, asked if we needed water or soda to drink while we waited...this is not a regular occurrence in restaurants. I ordered a mezcal Margarita and a standard Margarita, both of which were good. We split a platter of chicken nachos, which were filling and filling. We were so excited to find this spot that is closer to our home and offers the delicious Millionaires Bacon. We went on a Sunday morning at around 1030 and we were seated within 10 minutes. If the wait looks a little longer you can always join the waitlist from afar! Whether you are looking for a special spin on your favorite breakfast plate or something on the simpler side, they've got something for you. The timing was perfect.
