Bad for Korean food, in my opinion and it's pretty pricey. I got the dolsot, which is essentially a bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. The flavors were all wrong. The bibimbap sauce, which typically consists of a gochujang blend, tasted odd. Very sweet overall, and not a ton of rice - which is arguably my favorite part as you can get the rice crispy. $23 + $6 for bulgogi. Bulgogi was standard. $29 for not a big portion of bibimbap that also isn't very tasty/authentic is just disappointing. I also got the fresh orange juice $6, which tasted good. However, it didn't taste fresh per se as it was kind of thick and seemed like it was mixed with another fruit taste-wise. I had no issues with the ambiance or the service. Service was friendly and consistent. The food just wasn't there for me. They seem to be popular for brunch, though, so maybe that's better as it's advertised as Asian fusion. Nothing Asian fusion about my dolsot, though, but it wasn't authentic tasting either. Don't regret trying once, but wouldn't try again probably. read more

I learned my lesson and came on a weekday this time to avoid the huge weekend brunch crowds. Good decision because I was sat right away. I wanted to bring my friend here because I loved the open space and felt it was the perfect environment to catch up over coffee and brunch. Anywho, let's get into the food: Vanilla Latte - 4/5 I enjoyed this! Not too sweet nor too milky. Though I'd typically go for an ube latte if its on the menu, I went with the classic vanilla this time around because I remembered the Ube latte to be chalky the last time I came here. French toast - 3/5 for overall taste and quality. Presentation was very nice, and the berries and mascarpone added a nice tartness and creaminess to contrast the crunchy texture of the toast. The crunchiness of the toast was a bit much for me and my friend, we had a hard time eating this one. Bulgogi Scramble - 3/5. It was a good dish, we finished it all! Very happy with the aesthetic, the tornado egg was perfect! Taste wise, it was not particularly extraordinary, but we did enjoy it enough to clean the plate. To make this a 5/5 experience, I would have liked the food to be mouthwateringly good. That's probably asking for a lot, but I believe it's possible! I had been meaning to try this spot for quite some time, but I kept showing up when they were closed between their brunch and dinner hours. You'd think I would've figured that out, but I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. I finally came in the early evening during the middle of the week. I had heard the breakfast plates were pretty good, but they aren't all-day plates. So Korean food it was going to be for me, and I had no problem with that. It's quite a cavernous space, and I just remember how long it took me to go to the restroom. I imagine it could get pretty loud during weekend revelries, but it was as still as a tomb except for the occasional takeout customer yammering on their phone. There were many tempting choices on the menu, but I settled on the $19 Belly Pot, which consisted of overnight braised pork belly festooned with scallions, red onions, and nori strips over rice. Portions were not an issue here unless excess represents a problem for you. The Belly Pot was aptly named because my belly expanded just looking at it. Served in a deep frying pan instead of a clay pot as described, it was a lotta pork belly ladled with a lotta sweet-savory sauce (Photo 10). Since I wasn't training for a triathlon, it was a bit heavy on the rice for my taste. I ended up taking a lot of it home. No harm, no foul as the staff was friendly and responsive here. Bustling spot for brunch on a weekend morning! We walked in without a reservation but we were able to add ourselves to the yelp waitlist which moved pretty quickly. They have a ton of unique breakfast & lunch options that I haven't seen elsewhere! Specifically, a lot of Korean inspired options (both sweet & savory). I went with the Supreme Jook which was so good! It was highly recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. It was a huge portion & super filling. It came with a great variety of toppings including shrimp, pork belly, a poached egg, seaweed, and veggies. I liked the ratio of toppings to porridge! This place was such a great find! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt clean, cozy, and welcoming. The booths with soft pillows made it extra comfortable, and multiple staff members greeted us right away and made sure we felt taken care of throughout our visit. We decided to try the bottomless mimosas, and even though we're from out of state where they're usually cheaper, we normally don't get them but it was 100% worth it. We were a little hesitant at first, but we're so glad we went for it--the flavors were amazing and kept coming at a great pace. The food really impressed us too. I don't know how I haven't left a review for this place yet, I've been here so many times! I was shown this place by someone who went to Berkeley for undergrad and who spoke highly of this place once they learned I love brunch. My go to dish to get here is the Lemon Ricotta pancakes. I get it every single time without fail because it's such a wonderful combination: fluffy pancake, creamy flavor from the ricotta, and subtle but not too subtle hints of lemon. I've tried making this at home and it's just not the same. Every mouthful is *close your eyes to savor and do a little happy dance* level of good. I've tried various other dishes: the benedicts (salmon, Korean fried chicken, and black stone), bulgogi scramble, the millionaires bacon, etc, and everything I have tried has been really good. I love how it is a fusion of Korean and American food for the dishes. I don't drink alcohol so I don't have anything to say about any of the alcoholic drinks, but I have gotten their dirty ube latte and thought it was a bit in there sweeter side but good nonetheless. The waiters are always super nice and very helpful if you have questions. Service is usually pretty quick! If you come at peak hours there is a bit of a wait. I had tickets for the Berkeley Rep at 8pm, so we decided to try BSC, since it's so close and has good reviews. We weren't disappointed by the food or the service. The people were super nice, the cocktails were good and the food was yummy. The place was super cold, though, and I had my winter jacket on throughout the meal (and I wasn't the only one). So, if it's cold outside, don't leave your coat in the car -- you'll need it! (The warm toddy was a godsend!) Regarding the food, we shared the BSC buns with bulgogi as a starter and each had the dolsot as a main course - one with tofu and one with spicy pork. The portions were enormous! I actually had half of my main course for lunch the next day. The food came out very slowly, so towards the end of the meal I got a bit nervous that we might not make it in time for our show. Chicken and Waffles 10/10- the fried chicken here is so good! Normally I'm not a fan of chicken and waffles as a combination, but this was truly incredible. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside but so juicy and tender inside. The seasoning was amazing and the waffle was fluffy with the perfect texture. The way they paired together was actually perfect - the sweetness of the waffle complemented the savory chicken so well. This completely changed my mind about chicken and waffles. Beef Bulgogi Scramble 8.87/10- made with marinated ribeye, carrots, spinach, red onion, cherry pepper, and scallion. This was such a unique twist on a breakfast scramble! The marinated ribeye was so tender and flavorful - you could taste how well-seasoned it was. The vegetables added great texture and freshness, and I loved how the cherry peppers gave it a little kick. The scallions added this perfect finishing touch. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors worked so well together. KFC Benedict 10/10- I love eggs Benedict and I love how they made a twist on it by making it with Korean fried chicken! This was so good and so creative. The Korean fried chicken was crispy and had amazing flavor, and I loved how they incorporated scallions and Gochujang hollandaise sauce - it's so unique and delicious. The Gochujang hollandaise was the perfect balance of creamy and spicy. The eggs were poached perfectly with that runny yolk. This is definitely one of the most creative benedicts I've ever had. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes 9.68/10- these were the perfect sweet treat to balance out all the savory food! They were so light and fluffy but packed with amazing flavor. The lemon was bright and fresh, and the ricotta made them incredibly moist and creamy. They weren't too heavy which was perfect after all the other rich dishes. The perfect ending to an amazing meal. Bottomless Mimosas 10/10- the bottomless mimosas were great! They definitely had all of us completely exhausted from them but they were so fun. You get 90 minutes which is plenty of time, and you get the option of having them with orange juice, fresh raspberry lemonade, or grapefruit juice. My personal favorite was definitely the raspberry lemonade - it was so refreshing and had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Berkeley Social Club is honestly one of my favorite places in Berkeley (yes, I'm basic) but it's such a fun spot and their food is so good! I love how their food is pretty unique with creative twists on classic dishes, and it's such a fun vibe to hang out with friends. The staff is really nice and patient. Parking was rough even on a weekday for dinner.. be prepared or maybe you'll be lucky. It took me like twenty or more minutes for parking but not the restaurant's fault lol I got the buddha bless you cocktail - sweet and I wish it was stronger but good if you love sweet cocktail. Pretty too. The belly pot was good. I like the sauce. Meat is tender. The omurice was ok and the fried chicken was ok too. We did wait a bit for the food but I didn't mind. Cute ambiance with a large and diverse menu. The back patio is also super cute! Giving this a fairly low rating because the wait times here are always long when I come. After ordering, expect to wait at least 45 minutes to 1 hr for your food to come. And 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill regardless of the wait. I also think a lot of the food here is very heavy, and small portion sizes. We got the marscapone french toast and it was deep fried and tasted quite oily. The fried chicken and waffle plate was pretty tasty but the chicken pieces were very small. I think there are better brunch places in Berkeley/East Bay but BSC will always be a staple in the Berkeley area. read more

Now, the food was a 8/10... I think it was what I ordered, I ordered the crab Benedict and soon as it came out, it smelled sooooo fishy so it sort of turned my taste buds off... Heard of this place from multiple people so I had to check it out. We made a reservation for 4 people at 10:30am on a Sunday and we were seated right away. I actually made the reservation the day of as I saw a lot of slots just opened up in the morning. Some of our party was running late and arrived maybe 20 minutes after we were seated but they didn't seem to hurry us and let us take out time. I ordered the blueberry mascarpone French toast and an iced Ube latte. The food came out a maybe 5-10 minutes later and everything my table ordered looked good. My French toast was crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The mascarpone made it "moist" and the blueberries and other fruit added extra sweetness on top of the maple syrup. The Ube latte tasted like ube but it was nothing special. Overall a really nice place for brunch as long as you can find parking around the area. read more

This place has been on my bookmark list for a while for its brunch. It took about 20 min to get a table for 2 after signing up on the wait list around 12:40pm on a Sunday. It also took at least 20 min for the food to come out after ordering, but they did seem to be swamped as the waiters and hostess were running around. The food was good, but not amazing for the price and wait. I did enjoy the casual but slightly upscale ambiance. Waffle and Korean F.C.: Like many waffles and fried chicken, this dish was pretty dry without the syrup. Their version of syrup is spicy, but the chicken itself did not seem to have any special sauce or seasoning to make it Korean fried chicken-style . Bulgogi Benedict: The Benedict was actually quite good. The meat and vegetables were quite flavorful. The hollandaise sauce was slightly congealed so again the dish was slightly on the dry side, but if you got a bite that was soaked in the sauce, it was delicious. This flavor is pretty unique for a Benedict as well, which would be the main reason why I might choose this place over another brunch spot. The breakfast potatoes were solid. Overall, the brunch was slightly disappointing (about 3.5 stars) considering how popular this place is but I would be down to try other dishes or the lunch/dinner menus. read more

Holy cow this place is so good. Yes, it is a little bit on the pricier side for food but it's so worth it. The millionaire bacon bursts with flavor and it is unmatched between your regular kind bacon. It was Hownslrt the highlight of my meal but I enjoyed everything I was served! The waiter also recommended me the ube latte and oh my gosh, the fresh ube that they used in here is so amazing I couldn't stop drinking it after I took my first sip.
