I asked when I can stop by the school for a tour of their premises and I was told by the manager: You cannot coming and see the school unless you register for the program, I said well I will like to see the school before making a decision, I've already saw one school and I have an appointment next week to see another school, I just want to make sure I'm making the right decision that's why I will like to go see the school before committing to a program if possible. Managers reply's to me: "there is no need for me to go look at their school, what I need to do is make up my mind since it seems I'm not sure of what I want, when you know what you want gives us a call." I met an apprentice Jessie who agreed to do either relaxing or highlights. She set up an appt for a Sat a week away. I decided to go with highlights and lowlights. She did full head, which took around 3 hours, and did an amazing job. She was very helpful in picking out colors and pretty much doing exactly what I wanted. And she was great to talk to as well. I don't think I could have asked for more even if I was paying. However, this was free too! This was an absolutely fantastic experience for me! I hope they'll want to use me again in the future (another apprentice offered to cut my hair soon).

When I wanted to get a fresh new shorter cut I was surprised to see that there aren't any Toni and Guys in NYC -- but I found the Tigi Academy...and found CHRISTOPHER. I already trust the Toni and Guy/Tigi family -- because they are always on top of the latest trends. But on the day of, I arrived and they informed me that they had canceled all of their appointments because the receptionist was out for the day. The receptionist was supposed to notify all guests about their appointment cancellation, but I didn't receive any notice. I was a bit annoyed that I had trekked over in the rain just to be told to come back another day. Service is not good.

Even if its student, I expect a bare minimum of service for my money. You are not doing clients a favor. Clients are doing you a favor to sit there for 5 hours so your students can make an absolute mess of their hair and then pay $72. Onto the students. The quality of students they have have zero competence. Again a bare minimum is expected when you charge $72. The students are so incompetent that they have no busienss even being students in any area. The school is doing a very poor job recruiting students. Most of the times you leave the insititute worse than you came in. The students dont give a rat's tail what they do. They are too much in a rush to sit and play with their iphones Lastly, they downright destroy your hair. During my blowdry she yanked so much of the hair out. I came out with a splitting headache. And after all this more of a surprise: A service that I expected to pay 50$ for came up to $62 plus 10$ tip. I could' ve gone to a professionals salon for this price. What a horrible experience. As a current student, I feel it's important to share some concerns about the way this school treats…read moreits students. Recently, we received an email stating that students are not permitted to enter classrooms before the scheduled class time so that instructors can "prepare the learning environment." However, in reality, many professors arrive exactly at the start time or even after class is supposed to begin. Meanwhile, students are expected to stand in hallways or find somewhere else to go even when we arrive early after work to study. The only alternative spaces are the library or cafeteria, both of which have very limited seating. It feels unreasonable to pay out of pocket for an education and not even be allowed to sit in an empty classroom while waiting. We then received another email about elevator use, which is understandable for accessibility reasons. However, the message stated that misuse could result in parent/guardian contact. This is a school of adults, and many of us are parents ourselves. Including language like that clearly shows how little the administration thinks of its students and reinforces the feeling that we are treated like children rather than responsible adults paying for a professional education. Another major concern is the lack of respect and support from some faculty members. For example, Professor Jayne Kier is extremely unapproachable. Students feel uncomfortable asking questions because responses are often sarcastic, dismissive, or met with long, intimidating stares. There is little guidance provided, yet students are made to feel as though they are wrong for seeking help. This creates a stressful and discouraging learning environment. Lastly, it often feels like students cannot safely voice concerns. When issues are brought up to administration, they are dismissed as complaints rather than taken seriously even though many of us are committed, adult learners who care deeply about our education and future careers. It is incredibly disappointing to be treated this way as paying adult students. We invest our time, energy, and money into this program, yet we are treated as if we are receiving a free service and should simply accept it without question. The tone and treatment are not only disrespectful, they are humiliating.
