Now the stylist that was scheduled for me promises he will get to me. It's 20 mins past my appointment and he still is working on the other person and is socializing at the front desk. Been trying to find a salon in the area for the LONGEST time, so decided to give Berlin a try since I read all the good reviews on Yelp. Booking the appointment was easy and the reception (Marisa) was very nice and sweet. I booked my appt with Joanne since she has a lot of great reviews. I walked in for my appointment and there was nobody at the counter. So I just signed in and sat down (didn't know if that was the etiquette there since there were a few other ladies sitting down). A few of the employees were on the side doing their hair and just looked past me. Finally someone was nice enough to ask if I have been helped. Joanne was a nice girl. Very sweet to work with and listened to what I had to say. I wanted something easy to work with and does not require too much maintenance. I originally booked a haircut but decided to do color and cut after consulting with Joanne. We agreed on a balayage. It came out a little lighter than I wanted but it was ok. I didn't mind it so much. I'm sure I could have told her it was too light for me and she would fix it but she was already late for her next appointment. The issue I'm having is the cut. You see they curl everyone's hair before leaving so you can't exactly see how your hair is cut. I'm use to places showing me how my hair is cut front and back. Letting me give the the ok, before doing anything else. Instead it was just curled. Well of course everything looks great curled. But I don't curl my hair daily. I finally washed it today and the layers are pretty choppy. And the worst part is, my hair is uneven (refer to pic). They charge $55 plus for a haircut. My first and last time here. Scheduled an appointment from Yelp. The 4 stars and a budget friendly location is a plus for a business. Unfortunately I left as a speechless and unsatisfied customer. I went in for a cut (2-3") with color and highlight. My hair was almost waist length and told the stylist I was willing to go no shorter than bra length. I wanted some layers of hair to frame my face starting at chin level. My cut turned out to be above bra length from back only. After trying to fix it, it ended up shorter than bra length and the chin level frame around my face is chin level for most of my hair. When my hair is pulled forward to my face it's all chin level. I literally have no hair. I had also previously purchased a new curling wand but unfortunately you need hair to curl. Stylist tried beach waves and I'm honestly looking like Shirley Temple whom I love but not for me. Advertising being budget friendly with two $$ on Yelp I was even more shocked when I was told the amount for the service was $295. I've never paid this amount for full service at any salon and especially at a time when all businesses are having to close down. $160 = highlight $75 = color $60 = cut??? Not to mention it was not a full head of highlight. The highlight was not what I expected and returned the next day to cover the highlight with the over all color. Upset with myself going forward with the appointment, walking out disappointed and paying this crazy amount literally had me crying and feeling sick the whole day. The stylist knew how upset I was but unfortunately with a hair cut you can't fix it. It's 1 month today since my first and last visit to this salon. This was brought to the manager/owner Martin's attention and received a call from him a week later after having to reach out to the stylist a few times. After having to explain why I didn't have this corrected before leaving, 1. being the cut can't be fixed and 2. there's no natural light in the back of the salon where I was sitting I wasn't aware of the color until I was outside at home. He did agree to refund the amount for the highlight $160 which wasn't agreed upon at first but I'm thankful for that. Three weeks have now passed and no refund has been issued. I've reached out to Martin through voicemail and text message to inquire about this issue but have yet to receive a response from him. Just feel like this is definitely false advertising especially when being projected as a budget friendly location. I now know I need to ask before a service to have the prices broken down for every initial itemized service and be very specific about what I would like done. I feel I should've been offered a full refund but I'm not getting any response for the refund agreed upon. Hopefully this is helpful for others who are looking to visit for a first time and having a great experience anywhere. read more

My friend and I came in this week to get new mommy makeovers. JoAnn was our stylist and she did an amazing job! She has an awesome personality and is very welcoming! Ok, so I wanted a nice solid chocolate brown color to my hair but have been so nervous to dye it since I have been growing it out for years! So my hair had no color in it. I was afraid that I would have an orange tint to my hair if i did dye it but she explained the process and explained the route we would go to so that I didn't. The result was exactly what she said it would be. Girl knows her stuff! lol Im very happy w the outcome!!! Then came the cuts... We both had hair down to our mid-back and were a little nervous since we both wanted to go pretty short. We showed her pictures of the length we wanted and she got straight to work! I had a great experience with Berlin salon. One of my nearest and dearest friends was getting married, and I had bought the perfect dress for the special day. I have never been good at doing my makeup. I have taken classes, watched all the YouTube tutorials and had friends try and teach me techniques, but still, I could never get it right. I hardly ever wear makeup and if I do, I keep it as minimal as possible, mascara and lipstick. So, I decided since it was such a special event, I needed to have my makeup done. I scrolled through the pictures to learn as much as I could about the MUA'S available. I came across JoAnn Rubio's reviews and made a decision to book her. First, booking an appointment was quick and easy. I am a night owl by nature and most of my free time happens to be around the hours after 10pm. Needless to say, the salon wasn't open at that time. However, I was able to book my appointment online. That made things so convenient. About two days later, I called to confirm and things were set. I arrived on time for my appointment and was greeted by JoAnn. She was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. She offered me something to drink and began to set up her tools. I told her I wanted something a little 50's style. I have always been a big fan of the Cat-eye look and wanted to emphasize my brown eyes. JoAnn was very professional. She knew what she was doing. My makeup wasn't even done and I was already feeling beautiful. When she finished and handed me the mirror, I didn't even recognize myself! The makeup was PERFECT!!!! It wasn't too much and didn't feel heavy at all. I could barely feel the false eyelashes she had put on.
