My 1st time at Dr Dogs. I was very impressed. They have a very large menu which sometimes means not always the best, BUT I got the Chicago Dog with fries and fried pickles. I love me a great hotdog joint, and was thrilled to be recommended this establishment. It's quaint little hole in the wall that oozes that local flavor. I like that hometown feel on the inside, complete with a chalkboard menu. I ordered myself a plain dog, as picky Pete's often do . Tagging along were French fries, cheese curds and mozzarella sticks , of course. The items seemed reasonably priced and came out at a good pace. The curds were a delight and had a perfect crisp. The mozz sticks were also decent and tasted spectacular. The fries were a nice touch as well, with that classic cut and flavor working together to create a symphony in my mouth. The hotdog itself was delicious. No complaints from me at all, and my buddy enjoyed his meal as well. These are my favorite kind of places to go for lunch and Dr Dogs has hit a home run. Skipped these for us but got some for others who wanted it. We needed the Veggie Dog that most people wouldn't know they're as such. It's $3.99 for a pretty big one. It's a typical hot dog place with bright colors, several tables, and a wall filled with colored-in coloring pages from children customers. What sets this place apart from other hot dog joints is the incredibly friendly atmosphere. We were greeted with smiles and conversation throughout our entire time there. We called in getting ready to go pick up our last burger and they offered to deliver it to us. We were not upset about them forgetting 1 burger especially because it was 7:30pm on a Friday night and they were absolutely busy, things happen! However, they did NOT have to deliver our burger but they DID.. with extra fries and a handful of free hotdog coupons for next time. Hate to leave a negative review for a Roselle restaurant. I live in Roselle and want it to succeed. But after several visits and numerous hot dog orders I'm dissatisfied. I have even spoken to the manager about sub par food. The hot dogs are always lukewarm, not hot and the fries are greasy. The dog is not in the water long enough or it's not hot enough and the frying oil is not hot enough so the fries absorb too much. I've had to microwave dogs just to make them hot. If you market yourself as a place for good hot dogs, they have to be good. The improvement needed is simple. I am very aware of workforce issues but they can do better. I had some meatball sliders and cheesy potatoes from the Doctor Dogs food truck while enjoying a beer from Only Child brewing in Gurnee. The food was very delicious, although a little pricey for the size of portions I received. The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful; I could not have received better service.
