I just know that Berliner will always deliver and always meet your expectations. Twas a semi-late night drive home, and I couldn't tell if I was hearing the growl of my 3.6l V6 or my kegger of a tummy. It could have been both. We passed by many little holes in the walls on Barrington Rd, but we just didn't trust them because they were empty. Berliner Kebap was full and lively. I know this isn't what most people think about, but it is a good feeling to know that the food is moving. It means you're being given fresh food that hasn't been sitting around. I love the simplicity of the menu. Platters, wraps, and sandwiches are genenerous and comfort foody, in the best way possible. Of course it is all about the sauces. I want to scubadive in that garlic sauce. I could put it on everything! The herb sauce and spicy sauce are also pretty awesome. Make your food a meal. You'll get fresh hot fries and a drink. Platters will have a nice salad. It is important to mention that everyone behind the counter is so helpful and as nice as can be. And so, as people come and go...the doner shall continue to slowly spin in anticipation of your visit. ~fin~

I need more people to know about this place so it can stay open forever. Berliner kebap is one of the spots I frequent. Its one of the only foods my husband will eat. He only likes about 3 restaurants and this is one of them. I grew up in Germany and the doner is more Berlin style than where im from but it still hits certain levels of nostalgia, everything from the bread to the meat are fresh and homemade tasting. They give you so much meat and fill the doner to the brim. The owners are so lovely and personable and kind. Such a wonderful couple of people.

One of my favorite places to eat in the country. The portions are big and the food is very filling. The staff are extremely friendly just all round a 10/10 spot.

Berliner Kebap is definitely a place you should visit if you are ever in the Chicago Suburbs. Their portions were huge and they were all very tasty.

Berlin-style chicken kebab sandwich was what I had. Fresh ingredients are used. The combination of the spicy and garlic sauce is delicious. There was wonderful texture to the pita bread.

For some reason after I got my food, it became extremely busy, like people were waiting for tables to eat at. They have a bathroom or two, you have to go through the back of the kitchen. The parking lot when it's not super busy is spacious. I think they have about 9 tables, give or take. I ordered the Italian beef (dipped, hot peppers on the side, sweet peppers on top, and mozzarella cheese) and the original famous hot dog. I got a large Pepsi but it was jumbo size compared to most places. The Italian beef was very juicy. The giardiniera is mildly hot, not as hot as what people say. I liked that they gave me a ton of cheese and the sweet peppers were large. This is the real gem not the hot dog in my book. The original hot dog had a nice bite to it but it wasn't amazing. The fries were hand cut and crunchy. They give you a moderate amount of fries. Service was very friendly and fast. 4.4 on Google is more accurate to the experience than the 3.5 on Yelp.

However, as luck would have it, I was running errands so returning to The Original Nana's had to be added to my list. The location is very easy to find. I actually missed the turn into the location but I had to do a quick U-turn. I arrived shortly after they opened but parking was no issue. They also have a drive thru if that is a better option for you. I entered the building and I am glad to see nothing big has changed since I attended almost 10 years ago. I ordered the combo of two hot dogs and a drink. This location does serve the depression hot dog, and not your traditional hot dog. However, I am sure they can build one for you with the optional toppings. Here.. their "Everything on it" is only onions, mustard and relish...and a fist or two full of fries which is all wrapped up. The fries tasted as good as I remember. They do allow ketchup and there were a few bottles around the place to get some. The hot dogs were also as delicious as I remember. It still has the amazing snap and I am glad to see nothing has changed. I wish I lived closed to this location as I would attend more often, but I am happy to see this place has changed nothing since the last 10 years.

Since our first visits, which were ONLY to pickup some corndogs, we have ventured further into their menu items. THIS is SIGNIFICANTLY better than just a good "hot dog joint!" The menu items SEEM routine but the thought that has gone into these menu items completely won us over. When you order JUST GET IT AS DESCRIBED, because it certainly appears that great thought went into the selections. i am not posting pictures as there is no need. As always, when a restaurant you once loved gets new owners, you never know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The food tasted almost exactly like how I remembered. We got two cheese dogs, one with just cheese and ketchup and one with cheese, ketchup, mustard relish and tomato. We also got cheese fries and onion rings (onion rings not pictured). The portions are nice and a small order for the onion rings and cheese fry were the perfect size for my mom and I to split. The cheese sauce is not just an artificial nacho cheese and was the perfect compliment. The onion ring batter was not greasy and had the perfect crunch. The inside was clean and updated. This is the standard "hole in the wall" set up that is perfect for locals. It's not crowded with tables, since there are about 6 true booths and then higher tops along the back wall. I could imagine it may be difficult to find seating on a Friday or Saturday night when it's busier, so be prepared. The pricing is a little different than it used to be, but everything in the world is now more expensive so can't complain! That being said- the pricing isn't ridiculous, it was $26 for all our food and drinks. I'd say this is very doable considering the area we live in isn't super cheap. The service was quick considering the food is made to order and not just sitting out. We waited about 10 minutes for our food and that was with 3 orders in front of us. My only recommendations would be: 1. I wish when I checked out they would have told me the bun for the cheese dog is plain and not poppy seed. My mom ordered a Chicago style dog with cheese sauce so hers was poppyseed, whereas mine was just plain. The food was still tasty though so I'm not upset! 2. I wish the cheese sauce cup was just slightly larger but there was still a decent amount 3. I was a little confused upon arrival because the menu wraps around the front of the cashier- not a big deal, I just lacked awareness :) Overall, my food was great, the quality was there, I walked out full and satisfied and had a great experience! I will definitely be going back, which I'm glad about because this was once a family favorite and I'm happy to keep it that way!

We came here on a Monday night (also Presidents' Day) so we were the only ones in there. I got a burger with sweet potato fries which was good but nothing to boast about. My husband got their chili cheese dog (also nothing to boast about) and their Chicago hot dog. He said the Chi dog was the best chi dog he's ever tasted and that the celery salt on the bun was a nice touch. The kids share some chicken nuggets and fries. They had games inside (connect four, giant jenga, etc.) and swings which makes it really fun. They also serve the food in dog bowls to which my daughter was really confused about lol.

There is a Ms. PacMan / Galaga game and a toy locker claw machine. Some yard games: Huge Jenga and two connect 4. There is a outdoor single swing anchored to the ceiling and two TV's on the wall. The food was served in dog bowls lined with paper. It was hard to eat the sandwiches because the bread was cut all the way through. I would have loved for them to cut the sandwich in half. It was a little awkward to eat. The Philly Steak sandwich was good but was not very full, it could have used more meat. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was good but would have been better with a little more meat. The Hot Motz were great - 8 for $7.99 which is a great price! I wanted to try the Poppin Pierogi but they did not have any... hopefully next time. I recommend giving this place a try. Especially if you have a dog and kids and are traveling or passing through the area during meal time! There was a beautiful sweet golden retriever chilling out in the fake grass (people watching - so cute) We will be back again and will most likely order burgers. #kidfriendly #dogfriendly

I was hoping to get a gyro burger based on some of the past photos and reviews, but I guess the menu has been pared down. That's when the red flags started showing themselves - They were out of chili. Sorry kiddo, regular hot dogs then - No gyro cone on the spit - Empty drink fridge apart from some juices, bottled water, and Pepsi - When I asked for a cup of water, the lone employee just pointed to the bottled waters - There was one plastic fork left - like, it's dead inside, you couldn't bother to refill it? Despite missing the gyro burger and the gyro cone, I ordered the gyro sandwich anyway, and we also got a chicken shawarma wrap, a hot dog with everything, and a hot dog with just ketchup. I don't know what "everything" means to Palooza, but it doesn't add up to a Chicago dog. No sport pepper? No celery salt? One sad tomato slice? It was an insult to the institution. Feels like they skimp on the fries too. The gyro also felt small compared to what you would get at any other place selling them. The chicken shawarma wrap just didn't taste fresh and was drowning in some kind of sauce. As we left, I asked my wife the question I always ask her when we try a new place. And no, we won't be back.
