Where do i begin? The man who answers the phone with an accent talks Non-Stop and doesn't shut up. I asked a simple question and he went on and on and on and on and on. I think he likes to hear his head rattle. I called back twice hoping to get somebody else but I kept getting him so I hung up. He really needs to learn social cues and when to be quiet. I also learned after making a couple of appointments they do not have actual doctors on site only nurse practitioners or Physicians assistants. If I am paying to see a specialist I want to see a doctor. This place seems very unorganized I was not impressed and definitely will not be going back read more

Berman schedules appointments every 10 minutes. Appointments are rushed. On my last appointment, I a spot on my ear (had crusted over twice) that I inquired about. My Dr was too rushed to even see it. So I scheduled an appointment with another dermatologist at a different practice, who I went to today. He saw it immediately. I had other issues with Berman, but the big thing was the 10 minute appointments. I always left feeling that things may have been missed. read more

DO NOT SEE THE PA HOPE! Hope has the worst bedside manner is completely unprofessional. My son was put on Accutane and admitted that he may be skipped about five days (over 2 months) . She refused to continue the treatment because we were being "noncompliant". We received a 60 day supply and she told us that that was incorrect that we only received a 30 day supply so that he had skipped More than five days. She looked at us like we were being untruthful. She refused to renew his prescription for his final round of Accutane. I left the office very frustrated. I called the pharmacy to confirm that we had indeed received a 60 day supply, then I called to file a formal complaint with the front office and the front desk confirmed that we did receive a 60 day supply. Hope was rude the first time we met her. She was unkind the second time we dealt with her and should not be in the profession that she is in. I should add that we started Accutane with the dermatologist who is no longer with Berman. Hope told us when she took over my son's care, that the Doctor should not have prescribed Accutane the way that she had. Maybe it's not the best practice to have a PA criticizing a dermatologist at the same practice. Hope left me with little hope for the medical profession. read more

My husband had skin cancer removed here. They were supposed to have the results back in a week to confirm they got it all. He has been calling and calling for results. It has been three weeks and still no one will call him back with results. We physically went into the clinic yesterday and there was sign saying they are now closed on Monday. We called again today and someone in India answered. After 10 mins on hold they come back saying the office is not answering and he will have to leave another message. We are now filling a report with the state board. Do not use this office. read more

My first visit. My reason for going was a crusty patch above my lip. The doctor (I don't recall her name) froze it. I had a full body check-up because it was included in the initial visit. In other words, you pay for it whether or not you choose to have it. I don't know the cost of an initial visit. During this check-up, I was told there was a spot on my back that looked suspicious and that I should have a biopsy. When I returned for the follow-up visit I had a 30 minute wait and a 30 sec meeting with the doctor. She just stated that my biopsy results were negative. She did not look at or ask about the area that had brought me there in the first place. None of this is a big deal. However, I left (both times) feeling like I'd just been in a factory. Staff are brisk and efficient and curt. I don't think the nurse or doctor had but a cursory look at my file for my return visit. I'm an old lady who doesn't have a lot of time to waste and so think that a phone call for the biopsy result would have sufficed. I wonder, but will never know, how often a need for that procedure is discovered on a first visit. read more

I have visited 3 different offices of this company over several years. Today, I went I specifically to talk about my $500+/- credit. My husband, a retired surgeon, wanted to have some veins on his face treated. They REFUSE to let my husband spend my credit. Which is really a dumb thing to do from the point of customer relations. If they think by refusing to let me transfer my credits to my husband that my husband will then come in independently and spend MORE money on himself, they could not be more wrong. When I have used my credit I will be gone. He will be gone with me. And I intend to tell every person who asks about them my experience. read more

I have been a patient at the Placerville office for at least 6 years. I took my Mom here and my partner goes here too. Every year I get checked I am so impressed by the experience of the doctors, even though it seems like there's a new doctor every year. They check for cancerous growths on my entire body and if I want any cosmetic growths removed, they will take them off for an additional $125 charge for a certain number of removals (something like a dozen but I usually don't have that many). They can tell me the name of each type and the characteristics of each. All doctors have been very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. The staff are awesome as well! I've been to other dermatologists in the distant past that made me feel like an annoyance if I ask them to remove growths, so this office amazes me every time. read more

I received IPL on my face at this location by Dr. Bissel and I have burned eyebrow hairs and hair around my face was also burned. It was a very stressful environment with the laser cord going everywhere and it just felt like the Dr. did not know what she was doing the entire session. She did make an attempt to make me feel comfortable but it was not the best session I've experienced. I've had better treatment by RNs at medspas. The Dr. also froze off some skin textures for me and burned my skin to the point of scarring. So both items the Dr. did for me turned out to be bad experiences. I am a caretaker for a senior who recently needed dermo care. Our first visit was awesome, our team was informative and polite. A big plus!!! The next visit was quite a different experience. Even though the service provide has been satisfactory, the attitude in which it was delivered by some of the employees was definitely less. Let's start with one of the personnel telling me smugly that I must keep patients med list on me at all times. And maybe I should...if I hadn't already gone into detail the patient's revised med list with a different dermatologist the night before on the phone. Don't tell me my job please, lady! Then there was the issue of the patient pick up call. We get the call! The procedure didn't take long...I was thrilled! So I put the dogs in, use the powder room, fly in and out of Rite Aid, and back to the office...only to have the receptionist tell me they had called again. I was insulted by the tone and implication, though I played the fool. When I got home, I checked the caller ID for the time lapse between calls. 24 minutes!!!!! Are you kidding me? Plus, the person who had to answer their second call was less happy. Look, I'm from LA. And never in the history of mankind, has a humble town such as placerville ever warranted such snobbery. This county has more seniors than the whole state of Florida. Family and medical professionals alike, are working their asses off to care for their charges. The job is hard enough without having to receive medical care from people who act like male genitalia. Since when does a place that except Medi/Medi act like thier on 'Real Housewives'? NOT IMPRESSED. First appt 8 weeks ago was for a bad order coming from my scalp. 5 min appt to look through my hair, which found no sign of flaking or rash. Prescribed me a shampoo- and asked to come back in 8 weeks when I was done with treatment. ($40 co-pay with insurance) 8 weeks later, shampoo was ok... improved smell about 80% . Went back for my follow up appt - The assistance said before the doctor came in "Well some people just have to live with it for the rest of their lives. Also the yeast can expand out of your hair and grow on your face and inside your ears " By this time, I was irritated because it was a weird interaction which made me feel worse than better. Doctor finally came in , check my hair. Once again check my scalp with no rash or flaking - but this time had no idea what would cause the odor. When I told her I smelt in slighty as of now, she smelled and was like "Oh I don't smell anything." She said I could get a second opinion somewhere else. I also asked the Doctor about a small bump that appeared on my nose about 3 years ago. She said it was a mole and if I wanted to remove it than it would be a couple hundred out of pocket due to it being "cosmetic" BUT they wouldn't know until i got it removed , due to them having to test the mole. OKKKKKKK...... My 5 min appt was over. (another $40 co-pay with insurance) Walking out they asked if I would like to schedule a follow up. Mmmmm no thanks. read more

This office in Placerville is the best dermatologist that I've EVER found and I've been seeing dermatologists for 27 years now for cystic acne. I had a really bad flare up and Karen at the front desk got me in IMMEDIATELY, unlike most dermo's that are 1-2 months out. Also, she was very sweet and helpful. I was a patient of their PA Jason. Again, I was pleasantly surprised that the experience was similar to meeting Karen. He was very good at diagnosing my immediate issue and worked with me on a preventative plan moving forward. I actually drive 1/2 hour up to placerville, passing up several local dermatologists in my area because my experience was so good. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this office if you're even remotely close to the area. read more

Where to start- theres so many things wrong! #1.- First of all when a woman is having moles under her breast removed- Always have an assistant in the room. I suppose he doesnt because he lifted my gown top open like a maniac and it would not be a acceptable practice. He got a good look at my breasts and quite frankly I think thats exactly what he was looking for. I was so mad when I left I could barely speak! #2- He didn't do anything I asked of him he just tried to upsale me with some "blue light" nonsense. He didnt listen to a word I said, talked over me. I specifically asked on the phone while making my appointment if he used certain things and they apparently dont know what their talking about on the phone. #3- I had to wait 35 minutes before being seen. #4- The office was filthy. I would not reccommend this Dr to anyone but if your a woman do yourself a favor and take your husband in the room with you! read more

I've been here a few times and I'll be looking for a new doctor. The 1st time I saw Dr. Bissell, her staff was trying to find an online pharmacy so I could afford a drug. They referred me to one and after my own research I found out it could potentially be dangerous getting drugs from countries outside of the US. I should know since I worked in the pharma industry for years. I feel interrogated when she speaks to me. Then the last time I was there, I waited well over an hour for her. Then when she does see me, she rushed it. No joke, opened the door as I still had questions and asked me to come with her and ask as we walk into the hallway. No thanks. If on the new patient paperwork for a medical facility, they ask you if you have a Yelp account, that's a sign! After 12 seconds, apparently I had used up my time. I was asked if there was anything else as the Dr. already had her hand on the door. When I said yes, she told me to schedule another appointment. I was directed to the wall of brochures of expensive procedures they could offer. When I asked the assistant a few questions she said, "I don't know. I've never had the procedure. It will probably tell you in the brochure." At that time the receptionist asked me if I'd like to schedule a procedure. I just shook my head in disbelief and walked out. At 9:30 I decided to abort and find a different doctor. Where to start. First of all they make you wait at least a half hour if not more to get a room, then you wait again for a doctor. I wanted to get Retin A for acne and wrinkles but the Dr wouldn't write me a scrip. instead she wanted me to buy their 125$ bottle of cream. My insurance would have paid for the scrip, but this place isn't about you. So I schedule BBL treatments with the RN. 5 treatments for 1600$ The first treatment she used to high of a setting and my skin was burned for two weeks. The second treatment I told her about the first so she turned the machine to low and it did nothing but make two new veins on my cheek. The RN talked about her personal problems the whole time I was there. By the time my next appointment came around the RN had quit. I was told it would take a few weeks to get a new person hired. I waited and waited. I called twice an no one ever called me back. I called again 6 weeks after my canceled appointment and was told I would have to wait at least another month!! I asked for a refund. they would only give me back 800 of the 1600 I paid!. This place is only out for money and has no regard for their patients . Avoid it like the plague read more

I Just saw Dr. Smith at the Berman Skin Institute in Placerville, CA. This is the second time that I went and will never go back. Dr. Smith was very condescending and contradicting in what he was saying. I went to have a red, non-healing sore removed and he proceeded to call me a "picker" and that was the reason it was still there. I had this type of sore on my hand that had to be punched excised out years ago and was familiar with these sores and how my body responded to them, but he didn't want to hear what I had to say. I felt so uncomfortable with how he was talking to me, I told him I didn't feel comfortable with him doing anything to me and told him he was talking condescending to me. I ended up leaving very frustrated and hugely disappointed. Dr. Smith is unprofessional and needs to learn some PR skills and remember his code of ethics that he had to take when he was in school. read more
