I went to Dr Pallares for a 2nd opinion on a dental implant which was being insisted by another dentist. I knew that implants were more a surgical procedure and was interested in having a bridge instead which would accomplish the same thing, be safer (in my eyes, no surgery), last as long as an implant, and be more cost effective. Dr Pallares discussed it with me, listened to my concerns, and we decided that a bridge would be the best decision for me. Best dentist I've ever had. Long time patients of De. Pallares, Hubs & I have been coming here for years. Back when our previous dentist kept raising fees yearly and at some point, it became way too much -- especially paying out of pocket for routine cleanings + yearly x-rays, I looked around and researched extensively. When I found Dr. Pallares on Yelp also stumbled upon a Groupon deal -- the rest is history. I've had my share of dentists who would try and "sell you" on unnecessary, totally bogus "dented work" that supposedly are critical and "need to get done ASAP". Even fell for one tactic and never will ever again) when I had a crown replaced for no reason because that to-be-left-unnamed dentist scared me saying there MAY be infection underneath. Anyways. I had not been to the dentist in an embarrassingly long amount of time for so many different excuses that I cannot even pick which one to tell you. With not having dental insurance, I needed a good deal for xray and check up. Oddly enough, there were a bunch of groupon deals for dentists and I'm so happy to have gone with Dr. Pallares! Dr. Pallares and his Technician were so friendly and patient with me. They made it really bearable and put my childhood trauma at ease. After the cleaning, we went over some more work that needed to be done and honestly, compared to my friends' that need work done, it's a real good price. Just like many review on here, I also got a Groupon for teeth cleaning and exam cause no health insurance. I honestly thought I was just going to get a somewhat average cleaning and do the rest of my repairs (read: cavities) done elsewhere. But Dr. Cao changed my mind. He was very patient and very through with the examination and cleaning. He took the time to explain everything and answer all my questions and cared about helping me. I ended up fixing 4 cavities (2 small and 2 big), and plan to come back to get a crown and repair a cracked filling as well. Put it this way. I'm usually very picky with who I go to for health concerns. I don't usually have good experiences with dentist-- ptsd with dentist with rough hands. But, I plan on making Dr. Cao my go-to dentist. Dr. Pallares and his services are everything that I look for in a dental practice. I was pleased with my experience so I made an appointment for my fiance as well. First, his office is located in a convenient medical office building right off Huntington. There is adequate parking in the garage and doesn't seem to be a place where it will ever get crowded. Second, they were able to check me in right away and start on time. This is something dental offices overlook and it's my biggest pet peeve. Dr. Pallares spent near 50 minutes with me, going over everything carefully and thoughtfully. He took his time and didn't seem like he was rushing. My other big pet peeve at dental offices is when you get to see your dentist for like 5 minutes and they leave the rest to their assistants. I have been trying to find a good deal for dental cleaning via Groupon for weeks. I was hesitant to buy a Groupon for dental cleaning because I could not find a dentist on Groupon that had a sufficient amount of reviews I could rely on. I also was afraid that the dentists on Groupon would try to find problems that would allow them to make more money. Let's just say I got lucky and found Dr. Pallares! I am surprised he does not have more reviews! He was very informative and explained each step to me. He also told me that I have no cavities. Yay! He did not try to sell me anything and was happy to tell me my teeth looked great and did not need any work. He was very honest and trustworthy. I'd definitely recommend him. Here's some helpful information: You can park on the street right in front of the building. The office is on the second floor. Take the elevator up to Suite C. I grew up with a really mean, aggressive dentist. For real it gave me ptsd to go back to the dentist as an adult. My teeth were *struggling* and my good friend goes to Dr Pallares, so I decided to try him out! That was a couple years ago now. I have come back and will continue to come back to this office for years to come Dr Pallares, Dr Cao, & the whole staff in office are the BEST. Wendy at reception is so attentive, checking in on my insurance to make sure I'm good to go when I got married. Always confirms my appointments over text, which I appreciate so much. Brian in office is so helpful and sweet, such a comforting presence during X-rays and any work that I've gotten done. And I've gotten (and will continue to get) lotssss of work done. Dr Pallares and Dr Cao have both worked on me (extraction, fillings, etc) and they are incredible. They are so patient, kind, understanding, they both take time to explain everything to me whether in showing X-rays or just preparing me for what they're about to do (forewarning about bleeding, and going into detail on what all the steps are in their process, and even explaining how the mouth works And none of it feels long winded or hard to understand. They never upsell, they never write-off concerns. They never shame me, rather they explain all the factors (genetic, where you live, etc) that can effect our teeth. Even if some of my problems are my fault, they never make me feel bad about it, instead they are encouraging and loving. The office is always so clean, looks really modern, their equipment is modern but doesn't reflect in insane pricing. The building itself has great covered parking and unlimited street parking. My dentist of 10 years recently retired and I had a bad experience with his replacement. I found Dr. Pallares through google searches and he had some really great reviews- so I took a chance! Scheduling my appointment was easy and quick- I even received a text message the day before to confirm my appointment too, which is always nice! Upon arrival, I was kindly escorted to the office- as I ran into Ryan- who actually worked in the office where I was headed-he was very friendly and showed me the way. Upon entering, Wendy greeted me already knowing my name. They had the paperwork already ready for me. I was brought in quickly to meet the doctor. Dr. Pallares is amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk with. They did scans and then discussed my teeth before my cleaning. I have extremely sensitive teeth and was really nervous about the cleaning. The Doctor applied numbing cream and it really worked! I get a lot of anxiety going to the dentist, and this was, by far, the best dental experience I've ever had. Dr. Pallares did the cleaning himself and had Ryan polish my teeth after he was finished. The doctor was very aware of my anxiety and was extremely kind and understanding. I felt cared for. Ryan was also very friendly and gentle when he did the polishing. Dr Pallares let me know everything he was doing when he was doing it. There were no surprises. He went over everything with me thoroughly and made sure I was fully aware of the next steps. I feel super grateful to have found him! I have been going to my usual dentist for x-rays, teeth cleanings, & exams, but I no longer have insurance. I was willing to give this place a chance to see if it was worth returning to. I don't feel like I can't exactly trust this establishment yet. I'm not sure if there wasn't much to the exam, but he did check my tongue. My general dentist previously checked along my neck and jaw. It just felt more thorough at my previous dentist. Dr. Pallares' commments regarding the exam was that the main concern areas is plaque along the gumline. Maybe I just have good hygiene, so not much comments are needed? However, the cleaning done with the scraper tool by the dentist here felt somewhat rough. My previous dentist was really gentle, and also asked me throughout the cleaning to let them know if there is any discomfort. Additionally, the cleaning done by his assistant, Wendy, felt very minimal. I have braces, so it is more difficult and takes more time, but my previous dentist went through every crevice. read more

I am writing for others like me who still haven't handled their post apocalypse, oops I mean pandemic, dental issues. During the quarantine my teeth seemed to decide to all have problems at once but I didn't go to the dentist as I should have. As you all know, teeth rarely get better on their own and I after a certain point panic set in. The day I went to see Dr. Pallares I actually prayed for the strength. I just walked into his office and weirdly they had just had a cancellation. Granted, I have only seen this dentist for the first time but he was so nice, never overly, but I felt safe. My dentist whom I loved passed away several (well more than that by now) and every dentist I have tried since I just didn't like and didn't trust. I had a very bad and evil dentist as a child and young woman and I know it's lame to have excuses but I am human. I have a really good feeling that whatever is possible will now happen. I recently tried Dr. Pallares after purchasing a deal via Groupon and I have to say I'm totally pleased with him and his assistant. So why 4 stars and not 5? Because when I go back in 6 months I'll decide then if it was only a one time stroke of luck or not. His office is clean and that makes a HUGE difference as I've seen dental offices that are just horrible with dirty walls and floors. His assistant is very nice and gets right down to business from the moment you get into the chair and before as she works the front desk too. He seems to really care about his patients as he takes the time to explain things and answer questions you might have. I know his time like everybody's is valuable but he doesn't rush through the dental routine/procedure. Never thought I'd purchase a Groupon for a Dentist. And never thought I'd leave leave a Yelp review for a medical place. It was overwhelming trying to pick a new dentist, but I'm glad I found Dr. Pallares. Going in, I knew that my teeth and gums needed some TLC. I bought a dental package with the typical xray exam and teeth cleaning. And I was prepared to pay for whatever needed fixing. I actually suggested to Dr. Pallares that I wanted bonding done to a few exposed areas - he recommended against it as it wouldn't really "fix" the problem and that it would be more cosmetic. I also voiced that my teeth may need whitening, as I'm an avid coffee drinker. Again, Dr. Pallares recommended against it because he noticed how sensitive I was during the examination. All in all, I met a great dentist today and will be going back. He took me seriously even though I bought a Groupon and he wasn't trying to "upsell" anything. I went here to get my teeth cleaned and had no issues my first year. However, during routine teeth cleaning the year after, they chipped off some of my filling. Dr. Pallares told me "Just come back next week and I'll take care of it." I asked questions about time and procedure, which were answered. During my return visit, Dr. Pallares told me that he would use white colored filling material rather than the existing silver colored one, for cosmetic reasons. I figured that since I was already there I might as well replace the other silver ones as well. He advised me that the silver ones were more durable and that there was no reason to replace them, but he that would do the two or three small ones that were on the surface. A few weeks later, I received a bill from the dentist. It turns out that fillings are charged per surface, even if they are on the same tooth. To be fair, I believe this is standard industry practice, and I didn't ask about the cost and wrongly assumed "he would take care of it" meant something else entirely. This is why I didn't give them one star. However, it's been a few years and I was reminded of this over the weekend when the topic of bad dentist experiences came up. The way is see it, it's unfair for me to pay for the dentist's mistake. I wish he would have clarified costs with me when we were going over filling options. Instead, I felt that he deterred me from replacing the main fillings and instead only did the "cosmetic ones" that were very minor and took the least amount of his time, even though the costs were the same as the large ones. An experience that still leaves a bad taste in your mouth many years after the fact is subpar at best. Stay away! read more
