I made a reservation over 2 weeks ago for me parents 50th anniversary. They showed me where we would be seated etc. this was a super special dinner for our family. We get there last night and they have us seated in the middle of the bar. I was not happy. We asked to be moved and you could tell they weren't happy. They finally moved us and we did get a sweet waitress. Then my dad ordered a drink and they were out of that and out of coke glasses. This is how the night went. I was so disappointed. We could have made reservations anywhere but we chose here. I just had high hopes. read more

This would be a good place for a romantic dinner or special occasion. The atmosphere is very fancy and the waitstaff very accommodating. The food was very good. I had elk chops which were very tender (not always the case with game) and included a nice sauce. My wife had the trout which was good, but not spectacular--nothing bad, just relatively bland. Others in our party had pasta dishes which were quite good. The prices were on the high end, but worth it for a nice night out. read more

You have to love everything on the menu at Bernard's. It is a favorite, and we dine often. We've never been disappointed with the food. I love the bread that start the meal with along with the perfect dinner salad. The offerings of entrées are delicious and, nightly specials that never disappoint, The wine list has a lovely selection of both reds and whites. The bar is usually hopping and can mix some of the best cocktails I've ever tried. You can end your meal with one of the tasty desserts or a nice after dinner drink. Don't let the strip mall approach from the 80's fool ya, the food is amazing and their robust specials are sure to impress. Complimentary sliced bread and olive tapenade was delish. Escargot had heavy garlic, parm cheese and salt. It killed the taste buds for rest of meal. House salad was iceberg lettuce, a few shredded carrot pieces, and a few sliced black olives. Really? For an upscale restaurant? Main course of Atlantic salmon with a heavy salty sauce. Companion had crab-stuffed trout with a heavy sauce. Everything listed seemed to have heavy sauces. Both entrees were on top of unremarkable mashed potatoes with three asparagus spears. Trout had only two. Did I taste skin on the first bite of salmon? Then had flourless chocolate cake from a box, as the waitress informed, and creme brulee which had a consistency that had me questioning the ingredients. I am guessing it was made with a % milk in part. Think the cake is Godiva's from grocery. Disappointed. read more

This has been my favorite restaurant for many years. The atmosphere, the romance, the friendliness of the wait staff and the owner and the delicious food each and every time makes me want to eat here every week. My husband in Heaven and I used to eat here for all our special occasions. Now my new love and I have already been here twice in 2 months. And plan on going back many more times. We went here for our anniversary and all I can say is wow. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and the short rib beef wellington app so good. I would definitely recommend the beef Wellington since it was a special that evening. Main dish we ordered was the New York peppercorn steak and the scallops (scallops were one of the specials for the evening) get the scallops is all I can say if you enjoy them. His steak was pretty good as well tho! And we got the tuxedo cake we were stuffed but it was great. It's definitely a slow paced restaurant so be patient and just enjoy the place and relax. If you're in a rush this place isn't for you. I can't wait to go back. As mentioned in other reviews Bernard is present the whole time working so hard and that is definitely a rare site. read more

Holy crap is this food amazing. Hands down best food in the area. I've never had a dinner more decadent and in such a refined atmosphere! In a sleepy area of town, this place transports you to another world of exposed brick, candle lit dinners, excellent and VERY personable wait staff, decadent food that will make your taste buds soar, and an experience that will elevate what ever event you're celebrating to the next level. And to top it all off, the Tiramisu, made by our waitress herself, finished off the experience in a way that left you FLOATING out the door on wings your tastebuds sprouted. BUT WAIT THERES MORE. We forgot our left overs as the portions are more than enough! And as we were about to drive off, our waitress came running out to make sure she could catch us with our left overs!
