A huge thank you to the staff and owners of Bernard's!! I was throwing a surprise 60th birthday for my mom and I lived out of state. Cindy was extremely helpful in helping me plan a beautiful event for about 50 people. Everything was five stars, including the food, the service and the beautiful ambience. I had to travel the same day as the event, and I was able to just show up, and everything was perfect. Amazing experience!!

Food was delicious as always. My waitress Crystal was amazing and laughed at my jokes! I had bread service, escargot and a salad. Cozy elegant restaurant. And wish I could get to know Crystal better. Shame I live so far away. Signed CRS :-)

My first time at Bernard's convinced me of what others have written in reviews: I agree it's one of the top restaurants in Tyler. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a good place for a date night, but we did see a large party in the dining room as well. The menu options were surprisingly well-priced. We started with a crab cake appetizer, which I'll get everytime now. It's full of lump crabmeat! I enjoyed the chicken florentine and was glad they accommodated my request for no capers My husband had a salmon dish topped with crabmeat: we BOTH enjoyed his dish too. (They say a perk to being married is you can also have some of what your partner orders) The dining room was unassuming. Nothing too fancy, but it has character. I enjoyed the candlelit vibes!

Really Good! Food was way above average. Had oysters for app and they were great. Also, smoked sea bass was delicious.

Casual place. Food is good. A bit heavy on the oil with the falafel. French fries good. Only Greek coffee.

Plus the are one of the few brunch places that have Diet Coke which is a big win for him. We both get the traditional breakfast (mine-fried egg, chicken apple sausage & mixed berries. The menu may look the same, but the quality and preparation of items have changed. For example, the crab cake Benedict used to feature homemade crab cakes, and now it's a fried frozen-style patty. The one-star review is really based on the service experience, and unfortunately it's the reason we won't be returning. While waiting for our table, the manager or possible owner was telling single-party guests there was a 30-minute wait, while parties of three or more were being quoted only 10 minutes. An older woman standing there heard him tell the group in front of her 10 minutes right before he told her 30. The more I thought about it afterward, the more disappointed I was that I didn't speak up in the moment. Treating guests differently based solely on party size is unacceptable and left a very bad impression.

Saturday night dinner at Belle Vie Bistro was very nice! I honestly would give it about 4.5 stars,…read morenot a 5, as that implies perfection. But they are definitely making the effort to deserve respect. First, we were seated promptly and our server was very responsive, so much so that we hadn't even had a moment to peruse the wine menu before she arrived. I would recommend that the servers be trained to bring water and the bread and butter without asking in order to offer the guests a chance to settle in for a moment. (Fresh french bread and good butter, by the way. I don't usually indulge in that, but I had 2 slices.) And if a guest asks to sample a wine, the answer is always "Yes." They are going to order wine, they just don't know if it will be that one. Both my wife and I started with side salads, which were great. Very fresh greens, and dressings that were obviously made in-house and delicious (awesome lemon vinaigrette on the bistro salad and a truly great Caesar dressing.) I should mention that their wine selection is made up of good labels you probably drink regularly, with a few neat additions that are worth a try. My wife ordered the grilled salmon cooked to her preference, and it was served that way. She really liked the lemon sauce with which it was served, along with risotto and al dente veggies including squash, zucchini and carrots (well seasoned.) I had the duck confit, and it too, was very good. Mashed potatoes made in house (again, well seasoned) with the same grilled vegetables. I appreciate many things about this restaurant. Frankly, I don't understand why it wasn't packed. The lighting is nice, the music is just perceptible so as not to be intrusive. The service is very attentive, and the food is really good. The price point is reasonable. The most expensive meal on the menu is about $35, but they offer plenty of great options for less. Having written a brunch review for this restaurant before on Google, I noticed that they take the input from their clients seriously, and I appreciate that. This is a place that is putting in the work, and it shows. I forgot to mention that they have a barista on staff even in the evenings, and pastries that are made by an actual French pastry chef (I indulged in the Croissant Aux Aumandes on our previous visit, and it is absolutely legit.) Parking on the square in Rockwall can be an issue, and Belle Vie is in the middle of the block, so maybe it is somewhat overlooked, but it is definitely worth a visit. I'll be going back pretty soon for the lamb at dinner time. I also want to try their French onion soup and French dip. You should go. You won't be disappointed.
