My fiance and I went to the Bernerhoff Inn last winter over the weekend of Valentine's Day. We had just gotten engaged the night before we arrived and Steve helped my fiance to pull all the stops so I was surprised with champagne and strawberries and other little decorations when we went up to our room. Upon meeting him, you instantly feel like you know Steve! He's a very welcoming Innkeeper and makes you feel right at home. The inn is cozy and relaxing and when you walk into your room initially there is quiet music playing and a fire going. We had massages at the spa and they were super relaxing and felt great! We had breakfast on site both mornings and it was so great from the self-serve coffee to the snowy view out the window - it was perfect! At night we hung out with other guests as well as Steve and had drinks by the fire and played various games such as Cards Against Humanity and just laughed all night :) We loved it so much we're going back next month. Totally recommend it for a weekend getaway, we didn't want to leave! read more

We've stayed at 3 B&Bs in the North Conway area and while all are great, Bernerhof is our favorite. It's charming and the remodeling is well done. We stayed in room 5, which has a Jacuzzi. Definitely recommend this if your itinerary includes hiking or skiing! A special shout out to Roberta & Carla for making the stay so great. They always greeted us with smiles and and offer to help. Called last minute and got a great room. The mother/daughter team are amazing. They remember everyone's name and accommodate special requests easily. The breakfasts are amazing. There are refreshments throughout the day. The room we have is large with a 2-person jacuzzi. It's very comfortable. The Inn is directly off the main road (Hwy 302) which is busy and noisy. Otherwise totally pleasant stay with a very talented staff. read more

This beautiful bed and breakfast is nestled in a cozy and quiet spot. Roberta and her daughter, Carla, do an excellent job running this place. The rooms are great, the place is well taken care of, and the food is delicious! From breakfast to dinner, you can't go wrong eating here. Scamp, the bartender is another amazing asset. This B&B is first class. Jeremiah and Lisseth are awesome managers and really make you feel welcome. Paco the golden retriever is great to have around. He will guide you on the nature trail and make sure you get back. The Inn and our room were super clean. We enjoyed a quiet night with a bonfire and bottle of wine recommended by Jeremiah. The inn is a very cozy and comfortable place. The rooms look like the pictures, the bathrooms were clean and the bed as comfortable as it could be. The breakfast part was unbelievable. A breakfast bar that was fantastic with fruits, pastries and much more. The plated breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, two strips of bacon and the best most delicious pumpkin pancake with maple whip cream. Just delicious! The one downfall that I had was that the room was just extremely hot and dry and I woke up with a bloody nose. But I also had a room that was on the roadway size and the noise was just unbelievable. Normally I could live with that being from a big city, but some people might not be able too. Overall the place is very comfortable, and the people that I met there were great. I would come back, and I plan on it, but plan to stay in a different room. read more

Yep, as good as it gets! If you are searching for that ONE place, that will not disappoint, then you have to reserve a room at Bernerhof Inn. After years of working 24/7 and having ZERO time to play, we finally took a mini vacation. Boy is this place just what we needed. The Inn is beautiful, the food scrumptiously good and the room... you might not want to ever get out of bed. We walked along the trail, enjoyed our jacuzzi and tasted a variety of beers while playing cards. 200+ brews, about a mile away, we were in heaven. Steve is the perfect host; funny, attentive and informative. The price is very reasonable, especially for the amazing experience. We will be back for sure. read more

Honeymoon. Made reservations and paid for two nights well in advance. The week before arriving we decided to stay only one night AND change our room. I called and spoke with Nick, the owner. I was reassured the extra night would be removed from our reservation with no penalty and all I had to do was mention it at check in. I did. The desk hand was super kind, however, we were reassured Nick would need to be present for that deduction/credit to take place. We would see Nick before we left. Our room was awesome and bed was super comfortable. The rest of the grounds were covered with half finished projects and and outdated liquor license. Every single sitting area or walking area had tools or spare parts in the way. We quickly figured out who Nick was because as we walked the grounds upon arrival the gentleman doing the gardening was the same one answering the phones for the front desk, interrupted by having to cook dinner as orders arrived. They only cooked for the guests, nothing public. We paid almost $100 for steak dinners that could not be eaten. We never said a word or complained, we just had been married and hey....$hit happens from time to time. I ordered my first drink and the 'bartender' made it with some mushy fruit mix that had been sitting room temperature on their bar all day. I have seen these in fancy bars but the fruit is fresh and already mixed with either rum or vodka. This was similar to a left over fruit dump mixed with water. Bacteria city. I had booze in my truck, so I dumped the bar drink and stuck to my own White Claws from that point out. Not only was Nick the 'chef', front desk man, gardener and limo driver - he was the all round fix it man. I'm assuming it is why the place was such a mess, they just had no hired help to save expenses. Upon check out we were barked at by Nick's dogs so much to the point where I just sat on the couch out of fear and waited for someone to come running from the bar area to help. The dogs are always on the sofas and in the eating area, too. I am a dog lover as well, however I would never let them welcome my guests if this was my place - there are people that have legit phobias and fears. The dogs should at least be supervised and not left unattended. Our honeymoon package was supposed to have come with massages, however there is no way in hell I was waiting to find out Nick also played the role of massage therapist. I cancelled those. (In retrospect, we were never even given a time or date for the messages, so who is to say we were even 'on the books' for them) Upon check out the very next morning, Nick was not around for us to get our credit from for the extra night I was promised on the phone the week prior nor did we ever get our credit for the honeymoon package. We left, trusting we would get our money back. I have called numerous times, emailed their 'customer service' and contacted them from their website. Nick won't even answer the phone when it is our numbers now. Don't stay here, eat here or drink here. We really wanted to love it. We were looking for a place to return to annually, to remember our special day. There is no chance in hell we would spend another dime here. Good luck if you choose to after reading this - consider yourself warned. read more

I canceled because of the shutdown owner told me he would refund never saw a refund he will not answer his phone I leave messages he never gets back to me he won't respond to emails certainly not to happy I could understand if we canceled a week out but we canceled as soon as the shutdown happened no one could stay there read more

Jeremiah and Lisseth were completely the best Inn Keepers we have ever came across! We stayed at the Inn in April, the 1st night they had special visitors they knew well and they welcomed us like we had known each other for years! They didn't have to but they were so gracious and they invited my husband & I to dinner, Jeremiah and Lisseth's friends paid for our dinners. I was completely overwhelmed because we were not at all looking or expecting any of this, I mean come on they didn't know us but for a couple of hours. From the moment we went to Maine & then stayed at the Inn in New Hampshire the people I have come obsessed with; they take Kindness and Hospitality to another level!!! The breakfast was divine, I just wanted to say make sure the guest can get ice if they aren't around :0) But Paco you are the winner in that Inn and they follow HAHA ;0p We SUPER HIGHLY Recommend for anyone to stay where they are the Inn Keepers, they will make your stay Super Welcoming! I hope we can get more of Oklahomans there. Also I hope to be able to do the PERU Abroad missions and tour trip with them. This place is amazing. My husband and I went for our 1st year wedding anniversary. We loved it, it was an experience. To me, it was all special from the moment I walked in. Warm, cozy, homy. The place is full of beautiful warm fireplaces. And it has this wonderful fragrance about it. Breakfast is delicious as well as anything they serve there. The Inn Keepers, Steve & Katey, enhance the experience and make it all that more special. Beautiful people. We plan to go back. No doubt, a New England charm. Located in the White Mountains area, part of the Mt. Washington Valley. About 10 mins from North Conway, which is another beautiful city. I just love the whole area, it's a culture in its own. I can't say enough about Steve and Katey at the Bernerhof Inn. We arrived yesterday. The room is beautiful,, clean and well appointed. Steve and his staff are professional and gracious. We had an adventurous day today. We had the misfortune of being in a motorcycle accident. Steve, being a motorcyclist himself, handled us with understanding and empathy. We were greeted with a hug and genuine concern. Not only that, when we went back to our room, Steve provided us with a note, flowers and Bavarian chocolates. You truly feel like family here. This area is great, plenty of things to do and see. The B & B was outstanding. We stayed a week and had tremendous service by Steve, his daughter and his wife. The breakfasts were always good and there were snacks provided throughout the day. My wife and I had the massage service on site and it was very relaxing. My boyfriend and I decided last minute to spend the night here for NYE. Overall we had a wonderful experience. Leonard checked us in after a slightly roundabout way of finding the place (I blame my GPS). The house was gorgeous both outside and in. There was coffee waiting for us along with snacks - which my boyfriend promptly investigated. The decor was quite charming, and had awesome updated amenities like iPads for each room and Mac computers on each floor. Our room was called the Fryeburg Center, and was large, complete with a king size bed, electric fireplace and jacuzzi tub. After peeking around during check out hour, we came to the conclusion that a room on one of the upper floors would have been nicer as they are much brighter and contained many of the same amenities. One of the only issues I had with our stay was our room's proximity to the main entrance, which only caused slight annoyance when not so sober or quiet people rolled in around 2 AM. The other annoyance - which would be more of a suggestion - would be to include a selection of breakfast items so one thing can be substituted for another (in my case, an English Muffin instead of the bacon, which I didn't care for). The french toast, however, was amazing, and woman who was waiting on us was nothing less than sweet. The icing on the cake with this place was when we were checking out and decided to buy two mugs (normally $15 each), and Leonard gave them to us at no charge, which was extremely generous. On the whole, this place is very well maintained, and the people running it are very good at their jobs. Would definitely recommend it for a romantic weekend :) read more

We booked a room here the day of our stay on Priceline. I loved the place from the second I saw the picture of the house exterior. We were pretty late for check in but Roberta was so gracious and friendly. The interior of the house is just as charming. It felt really romantic. Our room was on the main floor and we were only there from about 9pm to checkout the next day so we didn't do much exploring, but I loved what I saw: a cute little dining room which we were invited to eat our late night take out dinner at, and there's a little sitting room off of the dining area that looked cozy. The next morning, there were some amazing blueberry muffins available on your way to the dining room. We were greeted by Roberta's daughter Carla who told us about the breakfast options and started us out with a delicious yogurt/fruit parfait. I really liked the restaurant setting rather than sharing a big table with all of the guests like other B&B's. And you can come get breakfast anytime between 8-10. No set time! The entire meal was flawless. I'm in the food industry and I can be critical, but I couldn't say anything but praise about all of the food. As we said our goodbye's we were presented with a tote bag containing some treats (including muffins!) and that was just the cherry on top of our visit. I wish we could have stayed longer! read more

Loved our stay here....quiet and peaceful and very homey. Situated in the woods at the base of the White Mountains...the foliage was amazing! Exactly what I was looking for..after a wonderful, busy 4 days in Boston, this was a perfect way to end our vacation. The inn Keepers were very helpful and kind. Saw some great foliage views and the town of North Conway is 5 minutes away with lots of unique shopping, good restaurants and pubs. Our room was clean and cozy..bed comfy. Such a quaint place! When we arrived we were greeted by Roberta. She gave us a tour and gave us some restaurant recommendations. It's in a good location away from the downtown. The breakfast is AMAZING and they are so accommodating to food allergies and intolerances. I have celiacs disease and they were so careful! We stayed in the Glen Junction room. Very cozy! We stayed at Bernerhof Inn on August 9th 2017, for our anniversary; we stayed in a cozy well-appointed room on the first floor. Upon our arrival the inn keeper daughter Carla welcomes us with a smile and attention and showed us around the facilities. The next day we met Roberta the inn keeper with another smile and welcoming gesture. The food was delicious and gourmet presentation. The atmosphere was far more than satisfactory. There is plenty of activity to share and to explore. We were treated like a friends and family. We stayed 4 nights at the Bernerhoff Inn and it was a truly relaxing experience. We have never met more hospitable and kind innkeepers than Jeremiah and Lisseth. They were, without a doubt, the best we have run into in our 30+ years of travel. The vibe of the Inn is laid back and cozy. Just what we needed for a long vacation full of hiking. Sitting on the porch with a cool drink after a hike was exactly what we needed. The rooms were extremely well kept and comfortable, and the breakfasts were tasty and filling, with varied offerings each morning. Each one we tried was amazing and Lisseth even shared some of the recipes with us. The Black Bear pub was well stocked with beer and wine and there were some solid craft offerings. I'm an IPA fan and the bar did not let me down, with plenty of local selections. The star of the show was Paco, a very well behaved golden retriever, who met guests with a wagging tail! We look forward to returning to the Inn and highly recommend staying here. read more

We wanted to hike Mt Washington last weekend and stumbled upon Bernerhof Inn when looking for places to stay. Though the price per night was on the higher side, we decided to give it a go because of the exceptionally good reviews. We were still a little skeptic, come on, how many businesses are out there with perfect reviews? Most of them should be fake, right? Well, we were in for a pleasant surprise. We reached the hotel sometime after 5 PM, and were welcomed by Steve who checked us in promptly. On knowing that we were still planning to hike Mt Washington, he started getting all the weather reports for the area for us. He also found us many other activities around the Presidentials in case weather turned sour (we were able to hike without any problem). He made sure that we got a early breakfast, within our dietary restrictions, AND he had lunch, and snacks packed for us - on the house! From the moment we reached the inn until the time we checked out, we did not have to worry about anything. Steve made sure that we were fed, and had our day planned for us based on what we wanted to do. The room was great (we were in Villages of Conway), and after the tiring hike, the in-room Jacuzzi with piping hot water was heaven. The room was on the third floor and we barely heard any noise. The lighting in the room was on the dimmer side, but it might be because the room was designed for a romantic getaway of sorts. All in all, I will stay here again in a heartbeat, and I will be recommending the inn to all my friends and family. It is a pleasure to stay at a place where the owners take care of you like family. read more

Good Lord in heaven do my wife and I love this place so much! Let me think of a few words to describe. Cozy, charming, relaxing, accommodating, loving, caring, nostalgic, fun, quiet, "historical" great service and so much more! This is our home away from home. The owners are so sweet, in fact probably the nicest folks we have ever met. And they aren't just like that to us. We have sat down with them and seen how they greet everyone with the same warmth as they are coming and going. Very hard working and dedicated folks that always go above and beyond. We drive a very long way to get here and we are in full on relax & vacation mode as soon as we pull into the parking spot. Often greeted first by their lovely dog Holly who also accompanies us along the walking trail behind the inn. Again, more of that feel at home feeling as we travel without our dog. Holly seems to do her part and share that love that only comes from our furry loved ones. Love the free wifi that has a strong signal throughout the building. Complimentary Mac computers on each floor, electric car hook up for you hybrids. We also love how each room is beautifully and uniquely designed, each having its own unique charm. There is a great bar with dark woods and comfy chairs that make you want to have a nice scotch and read Hawthorn by the fire. We love the large porch where we often have our night caps, and always in the company of friendly folks. The location is ideal for anytime of year and for any activity you wish. Skiing, hiking, shopping are all within a short and wonderfully scenic drive. Staying here you will always start the day with a wonderful breakfast. It has fueled us up for many hikes! An added bonus is having a serenity studio that is onsite. Great way to start the vacation with a fantastic massage! read more

The breakfast was the best breakfast that I have had in a long time and I was very impressed with this as well. We stayed in the Conway Village room (9) over the Memorial Day weekend. Upon check-in, Steve gave us the grand tour. He was very nice but informed us that he was leaving the next day to go to his son's wedding so would not see us during our stay. We wished him luck and was told we would be taken care of by the inn manager, Duffy. She was very nice with a sarcastic sense of humor. She had her hands full though. Breakfasts were good or just OK. Very few options. This is a bit disappointing considering we choose our b&bs not only for the bed, but the BREAKFASTS. Some mornings there were long waits even though we were the only ones eating. This may have been the substitute chef and young morning staff. They may have been a little lax while the boss' were away. Housekeeping actually called out on Saturday so she can enjoy the weekend with her kids (she called out sick that morning). So Duffy had to rush to try to at least get fresh towels for each guests' rooms. She was definitely overwhelmed. Our room was just OK. It was a bit dusty and we had an ant problem for two days. We let Duffy know and she said that they just sprayed for bugs the week before so they may have rushed in for hiding. Also, housekeeping didn't clean our whirlpool tub during our stay so we had to rinse it out ourselves before each use. Our room faced the main road so the first couple nights we had trouble sleeping due to all the cars passing. We would not recommend a room facing the road. We saw that the Freyeburg Village room was next to the kitchen. It was very loud passing the hallway to the kitchen so I have a feeling whoever stays there could hear everything from breakfast time. We almost picked that room and kind of glad we didn't but it was a lot nicer than our room. Watch out for the slanted wall/ceilings in Villages of Conway. Almost bumped my head a few times walking by it...and I'm only 5ft tall... Holly, the mascot, was the highlight of our stay. She was adorable and very smart. She was a little dirty being outdoors (nick name was muddy boots I think?). We did find her indoors lounging on the couch in the reception room one day. She snuck in knowing Daddy was away! She guided us through the trail onsite, although she was a little impatient waiting for us haha. When we were nearing the last leg, she left us in her dust! She was quite the cutie though. Overall, I think our experience might have been better if Katey and Steve were onsite. Duffy did a fantastic job but she may have been too nice to the rest of the staff. She did what she could and I think she did well with what she got. She was very accommodating and hospitable. Overall, the inn is nice, breakfast was alright. I don't think we will be returning as there are also many other b&bs out in the area to try. Not our favorite, but not our worst either. read more

We stayed in the Bernerhof from Thanksgiving until Sunday. We arrived to a very tasty Thanksgiving meal prepared by the innkeepers Katey and Steve. What's better than that! The inn is just north of North Conway and is a wonderful place to stay in the Valley. It's away form the hustle of North Conway. The inn has been remodeled since we were last there several years ago. They no longer serve German food. Each morning we woke to freshly baked pastry and several breakfast selections from pancakes, French toast to eggs. We stayed in room 8 , The Intervale on the second floor. It was very nice and even had a gas stove that made the room feel cozy. Holly the dog is the official greeter and is very eager to take you for a walk on the nature trail but we didn't go because of the snow even though she was on the trail already to take us! If I ever get a dog she would be the one I want, such a wonderful and cool demeanor. The Bernerhof is a great place to stay and looks to be our new favorite in the Mount Washington Valley. read more

My boyfriend took me for a weekend away here in early August and it was amazing! These guys think of everything (mouthwash, toothpaste, hair dryer, movies, games, even rubber duckies)! We had such a fun time getting to know the dog, she took us on a walk around the grounds which was a perfect after dinner nature walk! The location was great. We went ziplining at Attitash and hiked Frankenstein Cliff and Arethusa falls. Steve, one of the owners, was so fun to chat with and very sweet. He obviously has extensive experience in the hospitality industry and he loves what he does. The room was beautiful and comfortable. We had to check out early on Sunday morning so Steve opened the kitchen early to make us the most amazing breakfast ever! We will definitely be back and would recommend this to all of our closest friends and family with absolutely no hesitation! read more

Wow - great everything! Friendly, adorable, helpful proprietors Mike and Tina. Pretty, tidy and comfy inn with beautiful garden and porch for reading, common areas for lounging around, bar (first drinks on the house), afternoon tea, free water and sodas, yummy chocolate chip cookies. SO MANY little extras like this, iPads can be borrowed, a Mac in the upstairs hallway for your use. Amazing breakfasts! Mike knows all the local trails, and this was the X-factor... not only did he guide us to Diana's Falls and Cathedral Ledge, which was on my to-do list, but - - -my husband was watching golf on TV in the common room (with games, books, etc. too) and I was leafing through a book on the White Mountains. I am a hiker, and saw a stunning photo of a huge waterfall and asked Mike, "Where is Arawatha Falls?" I figured it was 100 miles away, only for expert rock climbers, and I would have to be happy with the photo. He tells me it is 12 miles up the road, on the left, a 1.2 mile trail to the falls, I can do it in 2 hours. I couldn't believe it, I woke up at 6 a.m. the next day, and fit the hike in, saw the 176' falls, the highest in New England, before we had to pick up our daughter from camp, at 11 a.m. This was the highlight of the trip. Even better than the Lobster Eggs Benedict I had for breakfast upon my return. I can't wait to go back, for longer, and see more of this majestic state, and enjoy this charming inn. Oh, we also had massages in the spa. What a treasure! Ignore anything negative, there are no negatives, this place is a win-win. Great prices, too. read more
