That's a Hell No!! Took wife's cars there for 20yrs. Change the transmission oil was her last scheduled appointment. The seal failed to the point driving it not knowing it drained the fluid onto the garage floor the transmission was slipping. Got it towed, "they fixed it" sent us away and the servicel manager Mr. Joe Bailey whom I have absolutely no respect for.. sent , my wife. a text telling us "thank you again for 2 decades of loyalty, and I wish you and your husband the very best moving forward" Ask yourself after 2 days of fucking around on getting it corrected...Joe Bailey the POS that he is .. Okay so...I never usually leave a review unless it's exceptional! I took my 2018 Subaru crosstrek to Joe Bailey at Bernie Bishop Mazda in Brookings Oregon. They had my car for 2 months over the last holiday season and when I got it back I noticed the pet seat cover had been ripped at least a foot down the back of the back seat, which I assume was an accident, but no one said anything about it when I picked up my car. Also, coincidentally my small portable air compressor I keep in my car was missing. The pet seat cover I purchased from Costco was $30 and the Fantick air compressor I also purchased at Costco was $40. So don't leave anything you don't want to loose in you car if you take it there. read more

I note that previous reviews of this dealership have been generally positive. This one will definitely not be. Whatever the dealership may have been at one time, it has certainly slipped dramatically in its integrity and customer service. I will preface this by sending kudos to sales rep Sharon who always was friendly and helpful. Being attentive to and serving customers' needs, unfortunately, is not apparently approved, and she has now resigned because of her own dissatisfaction with Bernie Bishop Mazda's deliberate approach to minimizing customer service and satisfaction. After spending $47,000 on a car, e.g., we were harassed over a $5.00 billing misunderstanding at one point. We didn't realize we owed it, but when we were called we said we'd be in the next day to pay it; the next morning at 10:00 a.m. we received another call demanding to know why we hadn't paid the bill yet. When I confronted the clueless service manner about his harassing behavior, he whined that he was "getting a lot of pressure" and had no choice. For $5, which we were on our way in to pay. We bought a 2024 CX-90 hybrid for $47,000. It has been a disaster, with one systemic problem after another, including dying twice in parking lots, stranding us hundreds of miles from home. The service department has had no idea of how to fix any of them. At one point, I did a search on-line and found a recall procedure, which I had to bring to the service department myself. They'd already performed this particular repair twice, but did it wrong without fixing the problem, and it fell to a customer to inform them as to how to do their job correctly. After the last inexplicable full shut-down in a parking lot following a 400-mile drive, we'd had enough, and I went back in to discuss returning the vehicle. The general manager, Luke, was fully aware of the vehicle's miserable service history, and agreed that owning a new car that wasn't reliable was bad. The car has a few paint nicks and a chip in the windshield, so I offered that I would pay for the repair to the cosmetic damages. I suggested that if they could actually fix the problem, that they would have an attractive, very sellable used car. For those who don't know, most dealerships make more money on used cars than they do on new ones. I made clear that I would accept any of three options: 1) fix the car and explain to me what the problem was and what they had done to fix it so that I could drive long distances with confidence that it would get me home; 2) exchange the car straight up for a new, smaller vehicle of lesser value, or 3) refund my money. Luke was receptive and indicated that he could work within those parameters. When we got back inside he began consulting Kelly Blue Book and announced that the trade-in value of the vehicle would be less than $25,000. He freely admitted that the car was a lemon, but then suggested that for all he knew, my wife and I were causing the problems ourselves, and that all he was willing to do as the manager of a certified Mazda dealership was treat the defective vehicle as a standard car trade. He "explained" to me that a comprehensive solution to the car's unreliability wasn't his problem, since he hadn't built the car himself. He was adamant that Bernie Bishop Mazda would accept no responsibility for selling us a defective product, and that he would only accept a standard trade at half the car's value. Calmly, without raising my voice, I told him that I had probably cost the dealership a sale at one point when a stranger in a parking lot had asked me for a review of this car, and I had told him truthfully about our experience. This angered him and he stood up and told me to "Get the fuck out." He repeated this numerous times, adding that I was unwelcome in this dealership and would not be allowed inside again. I asked him to give me the number of Mazda customer service, something he himself had suggested before, and he refused, repeating again, "Just get the fuck out!" When I protested that he could at least give me Mazda's corporate customer service number so that I could pursue a resolution with the company directly, he physically pushed me to the door and slammed it in my face, then made a show of going around and locking all of the doors. I was waiting for my wife, who was walking to the dealership from a meeting, so I couldn't leave. Luke began videotaping me. I took out my phone to return the favor, and he quickly hid behind the walls, then called the police, something I would have done in another minute myself. This dealership is a bad joke, managed by people who don't have a clue about customer service. Rather than take ownership for problems with the cars they sell, general manager Luke accuses customers of causing the problems themselves and then profanely throws them out of the building. They're currently down to one mechanic, so wait time for service is weeks. Yes, I would avoid this dealership like the proverbial plague. read more

I will never take my car to their service department again. And I would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT! I had my vehicle towed to their service department for repairs the my warranty covered, my warranty paid for all the work that was done. My cylinder head needed repairs along with my oil valve that poured oil all over my engine and the engine pan that covers under the engine. I dropped my car off March 24,2025, had some issues with getting the extended warranty to approve the amount to fix the vehicle, after the repairs were approved it took them from May 2,2025 until June 4th when I received my car back. I had my car less than 24hrs before my fuel injector had exploding pouring fuel all over my engine and engine pan. I then got my car back a second time with all my engine warning lights on, and my engine still saturated in oil and fuel. My warranty company paid them to clean my vehicle and make it safe to return to the road. I took my vehicle to another dealership to get my recalls fixed and the work the had done looked over. It was found that one of the bolts that were on my cylinder head was not torque down to spec's and so it was loose pouring fresh oil out of my vehicle my crank case breather hose was cracked with no notification. I drove away from their service department not once but twice with my engine saturated in oil and fuel. The owner said he would fix what was damaged, and clean the oil and fuel now that it has been pointed out by another dealership but frankly.... I'm a disabled wheelchair user and I won't take my car back a third time. My car could have EXPLODED WITH ME AND MY FAMILY IN IT! And they were ok knowing my car left their service department that way! I understand that the owner was away from the dealership during this time, but it should have been made right. read more

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE This is the closest dealership at over two hours from where I live, and after numerous issues with delays on a recall part I was canceled from my 8:15am appointment 15 minutes away after a long drive. When I asked to get a call from the manager asap to fix this problem, he was rude and unapologetic, when all I really wanted was a genuine apology for the abrupt cancellation after multiple tries. Hot Tip for any competent manager trying to garner customers and community support, don't come off as a jerk. P.S. Employees were actually friendly and kind, but ask yourself if you really want to support a manager so committed to shirking responsibility and providing a modicum of decent customer service. read more

My experience here was Not good, I'm 350 miles from dealership. I got them to a price that was reasonable, then salesperson Sharon T emailed a picture of a deep scratch on the passenger side of car. So I sent her a email asking "what else is out of sorts ?". When I got there the car has Hail damage, plus a few small dents, 1 key FOB, missing rear cargo cover and was owned/used by a heavy smoker (smoke tar all over headliner). So I paid for a trailer to haul car, paid to stay in a room, drove 700 miles and and wasted most of a weekend because this dealership would rather lie or give half truths about their inventory. I would look for a different dealership, they are clearly not looking for repeat business at Bernie Bishop Mazda. read more

My experience with them wasn't exactly ideal. Would I give them another chance given a Toyota dealership is so far away,yes. I had them do a basic filter change,i.e. oil,air and cabin. First of all since no one in town stocks OEM parts for Toyota I had to have them order the air and cabin filter as I had an extra OEM oil filter on hand. Next,I had to pay an additional $80 to have the filters shipped from Medford which I thought was a little high. So I go in for the oil change on a Thursday or Friday can't remember. Get the service done at the cost of $180 I think. Over the weekend I keep smelling oil and seeing spots on my driveway. On inspection I see it is spewing from the oil filter they installed. After calling them and making another appointment which with my schedule was about a week,they worked on it again saying the seal on the bottom plug was damaged during replacement. Lastly as I was particular about using OEM parts because reports have stated the aftermarket parts don't function as well. Being the engine is the most expensive part in the car I try and protect it. They got a filter instead from the NAPA Auto Parts store and installed it without asking first. Again this may be a fluke and if I need a complete filter change I will buy my filters in advance. As for the staff they're very friendly and courteous but it wasn't a stellar service visit. read more

I made an appt for my daughter's car. Bernie Bishop Mazda (BBM) was able to get me in on short notice for 1st appt on a Sat. After an hour to diagnose they discovered the MCM was faulty. I received and estimate for the part and labor. I was able to locate the part online at a better price so after a few weeks. I called again and explained, I purchased the part and wanted to make an appt to install. The service dept set me up little did I know my daughter woke up sick on the day of the appt so I called and ask if I could cancel on a couple hours notice Luke was more than understanding and was able to reschedule a couple days later. The original estimate was for approximately 2-3 hours depending on if the PCM needed adjusted. On the date of the appt I received a call stating the car was completed after an hour. I highly recommend this place it's a smaller shop but very accommodating and they stayed to the minimum of the estimate which I appreciated. read more

I purchased a used vehicle from this dealership. After a week the fingernail polish they used to cover the deep scratches began to chip off and the glue they used to hold the side panel on no longer held. The wind actually took the side panel off while I was driving! When I took the car in and spoke with the general manager named Luke, he actually accused me of doing the damage! Sharon was willing to reverse the purchase, but Luke refused. He said "that's what buying a used vehicle is about". I will never do any business here ever again! Treated horribly! These people refuse to back what they sell. Very shady! The part actually only costs $50. Luke would rather have a bad reputation than put out $50 to correct a situation. My car (not a Mazda) was towed in there yesterday and they couldn't diagnose the problem and I need to have it taken to another dealer since it's under warranty. The problem is the tech broke my engine cover and then denied they did it, and insinuated that either I did it or they never took it off to begin with. All in all they said they would order the part and I hope they will follow through. When a shop does sneaky stuff like that I won't be using their services in the future. Followup 11/27: Talked to Mr. Bishop today and they refuse to order my engine cover after THEY broke it and are taking the stance that I did it. I'm a 69 year old widow and don't go around breaking parts in my own car. Their tech lied to cover himself and never figured I'd look in the engine. read more

I came here for service because they claim to be able to work in all makes/models. I drive a Toyota. After leaving I found that they had used the wrong differential fluid and didn't know that a additive is required. I took it back and they said it's the tires. I then took my car to the tire shop to make sure. Alignment/wear checked out good. Now I got to enjoy a 2.5 hour drive to Toyota. They informed me of the additive (apparently common in many vehicles INCLUDING Mazda). Never again. On a side note, the owner is a grumpy maniac that has no business in customer service. Took note while I was there of the ridiculous used car pricing. I guess it's a stealership, they all do that. For service take your car anywhere else. read more

The owner was pretty friendly during the buying process. I give a lot of credit to the lady in the front center office who does the purchase paperwork she was so friendly and helpful. A few days after the vehicle purchase nobody was friendly or helpful except again lady at the front desk who does the purchase paperwork. The lady at the desk behind the service Dept was so rude to me which is very disappointing and the service rep was indifferent and non caring about my questions that I can't feel comfortable buying another car here. Stopped in at 3:00 in the afternoon for a last minute on the road oil change. Anthony got us right in and had the owner of the dealership drive us back to the hotel while the car was serviced. The owner Rick Bishop is a very charismatic man with great sight seeing suggesting and restaurant recommendations as he drove us to and from our hotel with a side sightseeing excursion of town. He also noticed my car making a 'sound' he had his guys check it out just to make sure it would be road worthy back to CA with no charge to us. When I settled the bill I was surprised that it cost almost half as much at it would in CA. Fast and personable local service! read more

I came to Brookings out of California on vacation and had car trouble while there . I was broke down just up the corner from this Mazda dealership and with one phone call the mechanics walked up to meet me at my car inspected the battery made a great call finding my starter to be bad . A few minutes later my car was towed to the shop and guys were on on the job that day . The following morning I was on the road and headed home . I don't know who gave Bishop Mazda 4 or 5 stars, except employees of Bernie's Mazda. I had my Audi in 2 times for Coil replacement and it just died again. My F-250 cost me a fortune for the Transmission and they never fixed it. Had to take it to Medford to a real Transmission shop. Had my brakes done on my F-250 at Bernie's. The right rear locked up and they had to replace it. Then they charged me $300.00 to replace one metal break line. I was flaming. Don't take anything to Bishop Mazda unless you have a Mazda and it under warranty. OMG read more

Been on the hunt for a blue cx5 Signature for weeks. Not much inventory regionally. Had found a deal 5 hours away in Salem for a red one (still a nice color, but I really like the blue) Just in case, I emailed Bernie Bishop, my local dealer. I figured that it would be very unlikely that a dealer in small town Brookings would have the car I was looking for if the bigger towns didn't have it. I've never been more happy to be wrong. I received an email from Sharon on Friday afternoon and by noon on Saturday, I was driving away with Cx5 in my first choice color for a price that beat the Salem dealer. The whole sales and paperwork process took 50 minutes and my trade in was quickly and fairly valued. There was no hard sell on extended warranties or things like that. I was just informed of their availability. After the sale was finalized, we had a thorough walk through of all the car's features (there are a lot of them--I think my new car may be smarter than I am). Overall great experience. I always try to support local businesses. It is awesome when the local business is as good or better than the big city dealers. I did not know that I could rate a service provider to warn other trusting people. I took my Nissan in for fan, alternator. and air conditioner belt replacement because they were worn and making noise. Three days later I get my truck back and it's still making noise. I bring it back and they tell me "that there is nothing they can do, it's just the way the new belts are". The next day I take the truck to Carpenter Auto Repair and they tell me, "the belts are loose and are the wrong size and that there is no way to make them tighter, they are the wrong belts for this model". They replaced the belts with the correct size belts and no more noise. I took the belts Bernie Bishop had installed back to them and guess what? They denied everything and said "they installed the correct parts", Blah-Blah-Blah. Bottom line, no refund. I swear, I will never take anything to them for repair, their wannabe techs do not know what they are doing and management are professional deniers. read more

This dealership is really great. We live in California and these guys know exactly how to handle the out-of-state transaction requirements. The sale goes quickly (thank you!) and easily. They are fair and direct. We felt a pulsation in the brakes of the car we just purchased and they machined the front rotors without blinking an eye. We took our Ford Expedition in for diagnosis and repair of a sputtering issue and fuel gauge that would randomly drop to empty. It was diagnosed as needing a new alternator, for which we paid $287.60. Upon driving the car for the next couple days it was apparent the repair did nothing to remedy the issues of sputtering and the fuel gauge. Due to the faulty diagnosis, we sent two messages via their website/email to recover 50% of the $287.60 (a shop should not gain profitably from a misdiagnosis) and we did not receive the courtesy of any response whatsoever. Therefore, for $143.80 this shop gets the worst rating available. Please be warned if they misdiagnose your car issue you could stand to lose your money, and won't even receive the courtesy of a response, which is very unprofessional. If this is how they handle a $143.80 issue you can only imagine how they will handle a major misdiagnosis and repair. read more
