I went here with a large screw in my tire. They were very busy, but got me in. About 30 min later they had my truck done. They removed the screw and did a water tube test no leaks and no charge. Maybe they're good for tires or other services all I needed was a tail light replacement for my 05 Sienna Van. I watched several videos to see if I could do it but I didn't have the right tool so decided to take it to this place who advertised they do vehicle lights. Each video I watched took no longer than 10 minutes to change out the bulb, and that included the explanation, but the mechanic I got charged me $138! Lesson learned, wish I would've have paid attention to the other bad recent review because I cancelled a different shop to come here to Point S, never again, too slow and overpriced for what I needed. read more

I would highly recommended never going to point s, if you need tires in dying need sure maybe check them out, but for anything less their a garage mechanical establishment. Owner and employees are down right stupid. they'll just take your money and over charge you when you can go somewhere they'll do a better quality job without ruining your pocket. the owner is about money not helping people he's a bum. don't go to point s unless you want to give them a bunch of money for them to do nothing to help fix your vehicle. I told them the issue of the car but they requested to see it so I towed it there and they call within first 30 minutes or then opening to tell me it's just needs a whole new motor. the worst establishment in brookings. I had such a positive experience at Carpenter Point S. I dropped in to get an estimate for a set of new tires. They talked me through a few options, and suggested I take my time to research before I decided. When I went in to get the tires installed, the friendly staff happily answered my multiple questions about alignment and brake inspection. They have a great extra warranty package, at a very reasonable price point. I came back for the recommended lug nut retorque after 25 miles and am very happy with the new tires. Yesterday I dropped in with some questions about my travel trailer because I'm going to tighten the lug nuts on it myself before moving. Even though this wasn't a job I'd be paying them for, they went out of their way to provide the torque values and tire pressure for my specific trailer wheels. This was so above and beyond, and I really appreciated the time they gave me. I can't recommend them enough. read more

AAA tried for hours to find a me a tow truck about 50 miles from Brookings but I eventually gave up waiting for them and called Carpenter Point S directly. Even though it was late on a Sunday they were able to dispatch Dan who came out and did a great job getting me back to town. He made sure I met up with the rest of my party, transferred belongings from the broken vehicle, and even delivered my car to the mechanic the next day without me being present. The staff and owner are honest, knowledgeable and very helpful. I got a flat tire (large puncture in tire) when driving from Klamath, California to Crescent City, California. Upon arriving to Carpenter Point S Tire & Auto Service, I was greeted warmly. The mechanics repaired my tire for a very reasonable fee--they did not attempt to 'upsell.' (Originally, I had gone to a tire shop down the street--the staff's behavior was rude so I got out of there and drove to Point S.) I am extremely impressed with the integrity of everyone at Point S. Of the two places in Brookings that rent cars, this one is the closest one to Rays (right next door), where the Curry Public Transit drops you off. They offer two types of reservations: $39.95 but limited to 50 miles a day, 25 cents per mile after or $59.95 a day with unlimited miles. When I booked the reservation, all they took was my name and phone number. I booked a one day rental today with the unlimited mileage option. When you show up, they require a $500 deposit (if you use a credit card, it's just a "hold" on your credit), plus proof of insurance and driver's license. They contact your insurance company to verify your coverage. Other than that, it was a pretty smooth rental. The car I had was a 2005 model, with 110,000 miles on it, but it was in good condition. It was just "basic" as in the windows rolled down manually and the car locks were manual. But it did have a CD player and radio. There were some "dings" but they were all marked with a clear plastic circle with an "X" on it. You are alIowed to drive to California, no big deal except you may have to pay for miles depending on the option you took. When I turned the car in (1 day rental). the agent checked out the car to ensure no additional damage occurred. None. Whew! Guess what my total bill was: $59.95, exactly the price quoted. WHAT?????? No silly taxes and fees added on? I know Oregon doesn't have a sales tax but the "biggie" car rental companies always tack on silly taxes and nonsensical fees on top of their daily rates. I even asked, "Are you sure that is all I pay?" I was told that was all I was required to pay. WHOO HOO! Ok, $59.95 was a bit pricey for a one day rental with unlimited mileage, but look at where you are, everything is pricey. I was jumping for joy that they didn't tack on silly taxes and fees! I took Curry Public Transit from Gold Beach to get the car. Oh yeah. When you refuel, use the Fred Meyer across the street, cheapest gas. read more

Rip-offs. Wouldn't fix a safety issue on our car, after they already had it in the back and taken apart......but charged us $100 for zero work done....for taking it apart and putting it back together. Getting your money is their only concern. Had another shop do it for waaaaay less than what they were asking ($1,000) cheaper and it took less time. When we mentioned Carpenter Point S to said mechanic, he laughed and said they have clowns working there. Don't waste your time! read more

i'm reviewing the u-haul component of this business and they ROCK!! we realized once we to town that we should have brought a handtruck from home to unload our trailer. i called and erin told me they'd be happy to loan us a handtruck at no charge. wow. when we stopped by to pick the handtruck up, we were unable to maneuver our suv and trailer around to exit the lot. well, no problem! one of the staff was kind enough to turn our vehicle around for us. we were totally impressed with the professionalism and customer service we experienced. read more

Dan will not stand behind his warranty.had a transmission go out on my to the Bay area called AAA they sent us to dan.1 week 4k later we went home with a18 month unlimited mileage warranty. 7 months 2660 miles later it went out.i called dan I did not get a warranty in writing Dan said just call if you have any problems. So that's what I did he said take it to a transmission shop send me the invoice. That's what I did 3300.00 now he says I was supposed to wait for him to send my shop a transmission. He won't pay me now. And this guy is a AAA shop. AAA was no help. If this happens to rent a truck and trailer tow it home it's cheaper in long run. read more

After my daughter's accident Carpenter Auto was called to tow their vehicle. When they went to pick it up the tow bill was $1350. She went to speak to the owner if he could help them somehow. His response was to tell her that she was lucky that he didn't charge them even more. He offered her a 20% discount if she paid it in full or he would charge her $45 a day for storage and after 15 days he would turn the bill into a collection agency. Stay away from this one. read more

My daughter got her oil changed here, not only did they overcharge her they didn't replace the oil cap correctly. Oil everywhere. My son in law went to have his brakes done with Carpenter because they thought it would be cheaper but they charged him almost 1000 bucks after Les Schwab told them they had 15 percent left on their brakes a week before. Now all of a sudden the rotors were bad and it would cost them a 1000 bucks. Never going to recommend them to anyone. read more

We were passing thru Brookings, Oregon pulling our 40' 5th wheel when our Ford truck began loosing power. We were able to pull into a rest area and called AAA. They told us Carpenters worked on diesels, so we called them. In five minutes they pulled up with a wrecker, hooked up our truck and 5th wheel and towed us to their facility. We were backed into their lot and after unhooking we were provided with water and electricity. Ended up we were there for a week and not only was the service excellent, but the courtesy extended us is unmatched. Did I mention they also rent cars, and we were able to get a very affordable rental and we visited the Oregon Coast in more detail than we had ever expected. If you need service in Brookings we cannot recommend Carpenters any higher. read more

If you have a lot of money to spend and quality work on your vehicle is not a requirement then Carpenter Auto Center is the place to go! They nickle and dime you to death by not fixing the issue the first, second or third time. They just keep you coming back and the bill gets higher and higher.
