Loved that we could mix and match various options unlike some places that restrict you to 1-2 options while this option allowed me to explore the basics between carnitas, bistec, fish and birria. My favorites in that option were the fish and birria. The pack came with rice, beans. Guac, birria sauce, green sauce and lime. The price of $29.99 for 10 makes this a very affordable food option. The birria and fish had the best flavors while the carnitas came in third with the bistec being pretty basic. To solve the blandness of the bistec, I doused it with birria sauce and it became its very own delicious taco. There's no searing indoors but only one small table outside if you must have a sit down option so order from here with the expectation that it's a "take out joint". Today, it took 30 minutes during lunch time to get the tacos completed. Maybe we can try coming back on a different day and it might be quicker. We also tried the tamarind juice - it wasnt as strong as I would have liked it but at least the option is there. I would come back for the tacos. I hope they stay consistent enough.

We tried the Tres Colores--a delicious trio of cheese with green sauce, chicken mole, and ground beef with red sauce--and the Tapatías. Both were smothered in perfectly melted cheese. The portions are massive and come with traditional rice and beans. You can tell the kitchen team really puts heart into the presentation. This is our go-to spot for a reason! Huge thanks to the staff. Blessings!!!

But as I plotted and planned, the birria tacos kept coming to the fore. I suppose my lunch at a gas station was inevitable. And I'm glad it was. Admittedly, I was a bit off by the prices. Again: gas station. But I suppose the Mid-Atlantic isn't the South and things are going to cost what they cost. But $3.75 for a soda and $16 for tacos was a bit of a hard sell. And then I ate them. The chicken birria* taco order came in an oversized four-pack bursting with ingredients, flavor and a large side of consomme. Between the seasoned chicken, cheese, onions, cilantro, pan-fried fatty goodness, and crunch of the shell, I was deep in food-like.** These were not street tacos. These were hefty, large-hand sized, meaty, heavy talk pieces that were worth the price, regardless of location. You get your money's worth at MRT. I ate my bounty in the station. The owner (?) was nice, chill and about his business. He welcomed me in, answered questions and made sure that I was happy with my food before I took the first bite. Between the smell and presentation, how could I not be? This may be a gas station but you'll get your food with restaurant sensibilities. The soda was over-priced, though. *Is that really a thing? **Food love is hard to come by.

The restaurant had a nice interior, fancy bar, lots of arts and Cuban vibes all around. They had booth seating by the window that had good view of Hudson Terrace and I-9. We started our lunch with appetizer sampler that came with empanadas, croquettes, bao bans and potstickers. I liked both the empanadas (beef and chicken), the chicken potstickers were also good. Ham croquettes and the bao buns with shredded beef were average. For entree I ordered the Rabo Encendido (braised oxtail stew). It came with three pieces of bone with plenty of meat on them, on side of rice and beans. I loved the taste of the oxtail and the stew, was flavorful and meat was tender. I also got to try the seafood paella which lacked flavor, rice was so bland. The chicken & waffle's waffle was good but the fried chicken pieces were so basic. I got the mango mojito (non-achohol) that was so tasty, I ordered two of them. Our server was super nice, did an excellent job throughout the lunch. All staff members were friendly. Food came out in short intervals.

It has 2 levels. The staff were all nice and attentive. Unfortunately, the seafood paella was under seasoned. Very blend. Did not give me the saffron taste at all. Portion of seafood was generous. But again, blend. Chicken and waffle was dry. At least the chicken was seasoned on this one. Appetizer sampler was not bad. Get to try beef/chicken empanadas, chicken baos, pork croquettes, friend chicken dumplings. Ox tail was also blend to me. Overall the food was underwhelming but the service and atmosphere were nice.
