I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in Bertie's and saw a beautifully designed and clean shop. The ambiance was definitely Ice Cream Shop! I came for a scoop of ice cream and the selection was extensive. My group of four each had a different flavor and we all loved the taste and consistency; smooth and creamy ( no ice crystals or off taste). The service was excellent too. The creamery has a 1950s vibe to it and they offer both hard and soft serve ice cream. the staff were all incredibly friendly and prompt. it wasn't very busy when I stopped in so I didn't have to wait long to be served. The prices seems more than fair and a small is two healthy sized scoops (my 11 yo ice cream lover wished there had been a kiddie size option, if that's any indicator). Others have noted their wonderful ice cream, so I'll focus on the Peanut Butter Deluxe ice cream cake. We got it for a birthday party, and it exceeded our expectations. It wasn't hard as a rock like some ice cream cakes, so no need to take it our for hours before serving. It had an Oreo cookie crust and half chocolate and half peanut butter ice cream with crushed peanut butter cups mixed in. It was topped with fudge and half peanut butter cups and whipped topping. There was no actual cake, which is how I prefer ice cream cakes. It was big enough for a party of seven. Some people went back for second helpings! This could be a new tradition for us. The ice cream is pretty good but it is very expensive. I paid $7.95 for a "sundae" that fit on my phone. Small, wimpy portions! Typical flavors but they jazz it up with fancy names like "seaside smores". If you want a MUCH better sundae (size, taste, and value) Willowbrook in Mendon is the place to go. read more

The shop is beautiful and clean, staff helpful and quick. Hot fudge is not good at all, tastes worse than store bought Hersey's. Ice cream is fine but not great or even especially good. Chocolate treats looked good but we didn't try any. They did have a variety of flavors but Willowbrook one town over has amazing hot fudge and ice cream, bigger servings and they wouldn't call it or charge for a sundae unless it was a sundae. They charged for sundaes, we got ice cream with hot fudge, wasn't too pricey but my receipt said all sundaes come with whipped cream and a cherry, ours didn't morning did they offer one. Willing to try again and try the chocolate next time. Not terrible, just nothing special. read more

Bertie's Ice Cream (and candy) Parlor is fabulous! The flavors are great, and the homemade ice cream is delicious. The ample staff is well trained, and the interior of the store is roomy. My husband, son and I decided to try this new ice cream shop and we were very happy we did. They have a huge variety of ice cream and sundaes and then they have specialty sundaes that are more expensive but very different combinations. I had the peanut butter chocolate lover's sundae and it was delicious. They also have frappes and ice cream sodas. It's cute inside and very clean. I only have two suggestions to make it better and those are: I wish they had some tables outside because it was a beautiful day, and we wanted to eat our ice cream outside. We actually went out and sat on a big rock. The other suggestion would be to have a larger sign next to the street because we could hardly read the one they had. So, for people driving by, a larger sign would catch their eye. read more
