HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My garage fob (parking in downtown Chicago) was removed from my car during the cleaning process. The owner denied that they were at fault. He refused to look in the vacuum or answer my phone calls. It finally took me calling by a private number to receive an answer and no accountability was taken. The garage fob is $150 to replace. I was in a rush so I came here. I MUCH prefer hand car washes and I didn't do enough research to realize this wasn't it. They take your car through a machine with cloth brushes - like you would find at a gas station. Afterwards, they have a crew of guys to dry the exterior, polish the wheels, vacuum the interior, etc. It's all really quick but nothing special. Check online for specials - and make sure to tell the cashier otherwise you'll pay full price for no reason. Ultimate Wash (the highest level) is $9.50 vs. $15 through March 2016. No need to print it out... just tell the cashier. Tuesdays is ladies day - $3.50 off any wash. read more

Brought my car for a full detail and they did a fantastic job. My car is five years old and it came out looking brand new, even the mats looked like I had just bought them that day. The price was great too, place by my house wanted to charge almost $100 extra and keep the car all day, these guys got it done in about 4-5 hours while I was at work. Boo!!! Dropped $8.50 for nothing! My car after this "Hand Wash"- not so- it's a longer mechanical wash with HAND DRY. LAME! Didn't get the bugs or other stains off. Plus, the manager was quite surly. I took my still-dirty car to River West and THAT was worth every penny! See review. read more

I have to laugh at some of these reviews. People expect a full detailing for $15?!?!?! Get real people. A full detailing will cost you $150 here in Chicago. Why am I giving them 5 stars? Because the customer service is really good. If you are not happy or they missed a spot, kindly ask the gentlemen or the manager inside and they will gladly address the situation. With that being said for $15, I think that it is a solid wash, hand dry, vacuum/wash my floor mats, and clean my wheels/tires. You have to set your expectations. Also, twice a year I take my car to get a hand wax for $30. Seriously, they will wash and wax your car for $30! Best deal around. I even moved 5 miles away when I moved up to Bucktown, and still go out of my way to get over to Bert's Car Wash. If you are looking for a complete detail for $15 good luck, yes you will be disappointed. But if you are realistic and spend the $15 it is a very solid wash. read more

Great hard working staff. Don't rush the cleaning process. I had my car parked in a building for a week and came back to find out that rusty water was leaking on it which looked like it was stained pretty bad. Took it over there and the guys did some hard scrubbing to take it out. read more

Great for people who want to get an average wash, but possibly terrible for people that will notice and fuss over a missed wet spot on some little seen area of their rear bumper... Close and convenient to major streets and the expressway, making it busier when the weather is nice, but also staffed well enough to minimize your wait times... "...they are who we thought they were.." Some final details: The address is Grand Avenue, but that's actually the exit. You'll want to go south on either Racine or Ogden to get to the entrance on Elizabeth, where you'll find a line forming on busier days. 1 free wash after 10 washes (though I'm sure that's the lowest level wash.) It's hard to miss, but you can hit a button as your car enters the machine for the "free" undercarriage wash. If you really want to fuss over the details of your wash, you are possibly better off going to a hand car wash location, where they'll spend more time trying to work for your tip versus this type of location where they just need to make sure they're ready to take in the next car. read more

Pretty useless. Got Ultimate. They barely vacuumed. Still rocks under the mats etc. they just sent it through the machine and dried it off. Whatever. Another placed hyped by people in Chicago that's actually nothing special. This would have cost about $3 in the burbs...not $16 with a tip. Whatever. This has to be one of the better car washes in the city if nothing more for the fact that I don't feel skeeved out by going alone. The city uses them to wash their fleet vehicles so there are often CTA and CPD vehicles going through. It's not a hand car wash (and that's reflected in the price) but they towel dry. Like any service oriented business, I find you get a bit more service when you give up some green. I don't think they were holding back, but a few times they've gone a little beyond with cleaning if I tipped early enough. Again, I really appreciate how safe and comfortable I feel coming here. I can see from the below reviews that quite a few people have had the same experience as me. I've had better washes from the 'Laser 3000' at a gas station. Right after we left the 'wash' I ran my finger along the chrome grill and it was still covered in dirt. The "ultimate wash" typically means that I'm NOT going to be greeted with the same exact stains on my console that I arrived with. Unfortunately 'ULTIMATE' stands for ultimate rip off in this case. If these guys stepped up their game a bit I'm sure they would notice a significant increase in business because their location is amazing. read more

For someone who has gone too many places for a car wash, I figured the entrance would be around the block. There had been no sign as to where the entrance was at.. though for a thumps up, entering my car to get washed was extremely quick. Once my car was out the machines, about 4 men began hand drying my car, along with the inside. As for the quality of the interior, it was mediocre, thus my 4 stars. Again $13 for an ultimate wash wasn't so bad! I would like to emphasize on the exterior, great job! read more

I took my brand new (literally, it was 10 days old, of which half of those days I was out of town and it was parked behind my apt. in my space) to Bert's today. I took it in at noon and did the premium wash and wax. Upon getting in my car after work, I noticed scratches on the front passenger side of the bumper. The scratches wrap around the car and contour from top to bottom, no way any car in existence could make these marks. I wen t back to Bert's and complained and they told me there is no way they could have done this and that no one has ever complained about their car wash scratching cars. They tried to say that it was from another car hitting me... no fucking way. I explained to them that it wraps around and is all over and they just said, this happens all the time in the city. I told them it had been parked while I was in California all week and it wasn't there, because I was looking at the bugs on the bumper which is why I got the car washed in the first place. So they fucked up my bumper and wouldn't even hear me out and on top of all that, they failed to remove the bugs from my mirrors and bumper anyway. Bert's turns out an average car wash for the price they charge. My usual wash has gone up to 9.50 but not their consistency as I do find some areas not cleaned quite right but usually not a big deal. Luckily for me, Bert's is close to my work and I have had times where I needed my Sexy Urban Vehicle pampered. So I pays a little more and like the magic of money always does ... it produces good results! So I'll be back for the occasional detail job or when I need a quick wash other than that I can probably find better places. read more

I go here regularly to get my car cleaned, and then a couple times a year get the detail. Everyone from the guy who gives you the card to who opens the door on your way out is friendly and service oriented. I really appreciate their work and recommend them to everyone. read more

This place is in the heart of the city and does a pretty fantastic job. Took a road trip last weekend and the bugs were crazy! Feared they wouldn't clean them all but they did! Great job for my first trip there, I'm pretty particular about cleaning the BMW. I'll definitely be returning! read more

It was confusing to me at first how to enter the car wash...but I figured it out after two trips around the block. (Enter from Elizabeth street). I had never been to this car wash before and it wasn't clear what the protocol was (drive you car up to entrance, attendant asks you want you want/puts cover over windshield wipers, you exit vehicle and they drive it through.) There are three tiers of car wash packages and every Tuesday is "Ladies Day" ($3.50 off). Each package included vacuuming, interior window cleaning, tire cleaning and towel dry. The service was speedy for the most part, but nobody was very social/happy/responsive to questions. Car was decently clean afterwards with the exception of the floor of my trunk and my front seats which hadn't been vacuumed very well. Ok so I rarely write reviews but after the Mickey Mouse magic that was just performed on my car they deserve the attention. So its Saturday about 4pm I am in dire need of a FULL detail I mean it looked like the interior of my car was an halfway house for a family of homeless raccoons..every single space in the car was horrendous I almost wanted to just park the car and run so they didnt know it was mine. I warn the guy that the car is dirty as hell and he looked at me as if to say "dont worry friend...we do this." So I come back just before they close and they pull out a silver charger and present it to me as if it were mine...I immediately think they must have scraped my car and just stolen this one from a dealership because there is no way this my car. But low and behold its mine...and every single spot in the car looks brand new. Now don't get me wrong I am one of those people that detail their own cars and it would take me about 7 hours...but what they did?! Yea safe to say I am a lifetime customer. This place is the true definition of a diamond in the rough. Pricing?! For the job they did definitely would have been worth $200+..but nope only $110. Are they fast? Usually. The problem is that their work is getting a bit sloppy. The last time I left, I was pretty upset about it because large areas of the interior were clearly overlooked. I'll probably give them one more chance before I switch for good. I'll keep you posted. read more

Went to this car wash for the first and last time. I had a coupon for $4.50 off the "Full Service", $16.00 wash; total $11.50. I get a better wash from the $3.00 place than from this business. The wipe down was poor - there was still dirt left on the hatch, around the license plate, dirt on the front grill. They didn't wipe down inside the door frames, (which we know is mandatory especially during the Winter months), nor the inside components - dash, doors, step-ons, etc., which is supposed to be included in the "Full Service"? NOT!! I guess the $4.50 off means you get $4.50's worth of service. read more

Blown away at the customer service here. Brought my small SUV in at lunch for a full detail and I haven't really had the car deep cleaned for months. Matter of fact there was still salt stains on the carpets from the previous winter. Car looks brand new inside and out. Not a trace of a salt stain either. Fast, good hand wax, cheap for the area. I go a few times per year for the hand wax and once a week in the winter for a classic car wash. You have to be clear about what service you're ordering: it's a car wash, not a detail. There are usually still coffee stains on the cupholder and salt stains on the carpet when I get the vehicle back - you're getting a armor-all sprits and quick wipe on the dash, a quick vacuum of the seats and if you pay a few dollars extra they'll take the floor mats out and hose them down. That's it, unless you pay for a full detail so keep your expectations in line. And it's a machine wash with a touch system and a hand dry after. Just FYI. That being said, you're not paying for a complete detail and the exterior is generally well done. And quick. And they'll call you when your vehicle is ready if you're having a wax done, so you can go to Sip around the corner and relax. So for my purposes it's a good quick clean. And the touch-wash machine has not ever left a scratch. read more

Yes, I do look forward to seeing those old timey pictures of chicago while my car gets its suds treatment! There is always some kind of discount going on for the wash services. Even on the days when the line is long, you get through pretty quick. The staff has always been polite and gets the job done. They even have those stupid punchcards that can be redeemed for a free car wash, but I always lose before the card fills up. Best of all they take credit! read more
