Awful check in process for service. Operations not good whatsoever! Wait in line for 30 mins before talking to anyone to find out the service they are offering wasn't available. I think Bert's is great. Not sure what people expect for $8.50, but I know I've paid that for an exterior-only wash. I treat my sensible Dodge Stratus like shit, and they always clean it up to my liking. Try to go during the week or on an off time - it gets crazy on weekends. read more

Saved me hundreds of dollars- I downloaded yelp just to write these guys a review. A can of orange spray paint exploded in my trunk, getting over the ceiling, windows, and upholstery on the back of my rear seats. I hurried over to Berts as I'd used them before and have been happy with their service. The manager saw my panicked face, immediately surveyed my car, then got to work. For $40 he removed all of the paint, placed a plastic tarp in my trunk to store my paint covered gear, and washed the entire exterior. I searched and couldn't find a speck of orange paint. These guys are rock stars, will recommend them to everyone. read more

I got the Ultimate wash today and my car still has dirt on it. In addition, the trim on my driver's side window is now coming off.

This place is awesome. Drop your car off and five minutes later is clean as a whistle. The combo machine wash and hands on cleaning is great. read more

They use to be more efficient. Had to wait almost an hour. Instead of having cars come in back to back, they just let one in at a time and delays the process. No manager on the premises just a couple of youngsters talking and not paying any attention ti how the business is running. I see them loosing if they keep this up. Well, its pretty much next door to where I live so that rocks. So I came here today and talked to Ege (sp) when pulling in. I just explained that I needed the trunk shampooed and the mats, that was it. Reason being a couple days ago I had a dog (not my dogs) shit on my hallway rug and I went to a self car wash down the street to wash the rug, and then put the wet rug in the back of my car. So now my car smells of death and like baby shit in a diaper. He said he would need it for a couple hours, and I said no prob. I didn't think it was worth detailing the rest due to carting the dogs all the time and the fact that they hate the car they start malting. Its also going to rain this weekend so why wash it? I got the call to pick it up, and to my surprise, car is fully detailed, inside and out and smells great!!!!! $50!!!!! Never again will I go somewhere else. For $9.50 they did a pretty thorough job. I agree that if you have to fuss over the smallest details of your car, you're probably better off with a hand car wash. There was a line of cars to get in but I left within 10 minutes of lining up. They're pretty efficient and there were six people wiping down my car after it came out of the washer. They vacuumed my carpets clean, wiped down the exterior, interior, and even after I got in the car they were still wiping. They also took care to cover my back window wiper with a bag so it doesn't get ruined in the machine. I might be just easily impressed with simple things, but I'm definitely satisfied for the price. read more

Definitely one of the worst car washes I have been to. They didn't vacuum good, windows had major streaks and water marks. I had just drove across country from Arizona and there were so many bugs in the front of my car... Nothing even came off after the car wash. You would think that the people drying after the wash would have sprayed and wiped the front bumper down, after seeing none of the bugs came off in the wash! read more

Took truck here for complete detail. They began by running it through the automatic wash, which ripped off the top seal of my windshield. Was left there all day and when I came to pick it up, I pointed out the missing weather stripping and they claimed it arrived like that. Car was dirtier than when I dropped it off. Worst place ever. I don't recommend this place unless you don't are about your car - because they certainly do not. read more

I'm with Ann e. - Boo! I've taken my car here about 10 times in the last 5 months or so. They did a one time detail job - that was good. All the other times, the regular washes have been sub-par. The last one was the last straw. It didn't even look like it had been vacuumed! I asked specifically to get the cup holders - and they didn't touch them. TERRIBLE job. They did a great job! I went there on a Sunday afternoon and got right in without waiting. Within about 7 minutes my car went from being a dirty mess to being almost spotless. I recently got 6 cars detailed here and they did a wonderful job. I would definitely visit again. However, my one complaint was that I had 4 cars brought there for a full detail and they were closed at a time they should be open. There was no sign in the window and nothing on their website or voicemail to indicate a reason for not being open. I called the next day and they said that they close when it is raining. I was frustrated as it was a large inconvenience for my drivers trying to find a similar car wash with comparable prices nearby. I would suggest making it known on the website or voicemail in the future. read more

It's cheap and quick, and that's about it. Keep your expectations low. When it comes to drying they are lazy and bad. It's a simple car thing, but you use a different (preferably dry) towel to dry the windows than you do the rest of the car. Frustrating at most times. But convenient. read more

I've gone to Berts for 70% of my car washes over the past 10 years. I've decided it's time for a change. There are good if you have your car detailed but weak for a general car wash. I agree with many of the reviews. They miss the basics. I think it has something to do with their team approach so no one person is responsible for a sloppy job. Once I asked to have the inside of the back window touched up because of the visible water trickle on the glass. You'd have thought I was asking for the world. I'm a generous tipper and I try to be visible with my tip hoping they give my car some attention the next trip. That has not really worked out. Time for a change. Wow - just picked up my SUV after first trip to Berts. Got the $99 Internet special for detailing inside and out. Our car was disgusting when we took it in - particularly the inside. I cannot believe what a great job they did for $99. Everyone I encountered was polite, helpful, and fast. We will be back. read more

I brought Bert's Car Wash my filthy car... inside and out. I'm happy with the inside of my car. It's very very clean!! But, GREASY!! I was told it was seat/dash conditioner but, it looks greasy & wet. Now it's all over my clothes and hands. The outside of my car still looks dingy and dull. I believe it was rushed b/c not all the dirt and wax were wiped off. I'm not sure I'd return. The lack of staff friendliness and overall mediocre service left me with no need to spend another $125 on a detail. read more

I waited forever. Fine, it was a nice day. I drove in with a large pile of dirt on top of my center console. That pile of dirt was still there in plain view when I looked down as I was driving away. It's nice that businesses hire blind people but maybe the jokers who run this joint should hire people who can see to wipe down the car interiors. Save your money and run your car through the quick wash at Elston and Armitage. It's fast, affordable and quite thorough...and there aren't any blind monkeys expecting tips for poor service. read more

I'd have to say it's the worst car wash ever, and I think that is how I felt when I got my car back. It probably wasn't the worst EVER, but pretty close. They do a minimal job; that's the best way to sum it up. The most outstanding memory is the amount of time you wait, and wait, and wait. It takes a very long time to get through that line and then most of the spots you take your car in to be cleaned cuz you can't reach them or don't want to are still there. OOohh so frustrating. Almost forgot, I left with someone else's front mat. How they got my mats confused I'll never know but I had to go back through that long line just to speak to someone about getting my mat back which no one knew anything about. On a whim I came back ten days later and they had some extra mat lying around that they said I could have which unbelievably enough turned out to be mine! Don't go there unless you enjoy being frustrated with poor service, have nothing but time to waste and like to throw your money away. read more

Went in today to get my car washed just before 6pm. (they close at 6) Got in line around 5:55 and when I reached the front of the line at 6:01, one of the guys came out and put a cone in front of my car and told me they were closed! I was IN LINE before they closed and was still turned away none the less. I'm sure there are hundreds of other places in Chicago that want your money, apparently Bert's does not. read more

This is the best car wash!!! I can get an entire in and out for less than 10 dollars. And the guys are awesome. I had a lot of tar stuck on my car that naturally will not come out in a regular wash which I didn't know. After getting home I realized and drove back. The guys came out after they were already closed and made sure to use special solution to remove anything to make sure I was completely satisfied. Normally this cost a little more but they did it for no charge and with a smile on their face. Best customer service ever. I wil definitely be back here for my future washes. read more

i don't understand anyone who gives this less than 4 stars. it is by far, the best car wash in chicago for the price. if you do the ultimate with the coupon its $10 - that includes a pretty darn good car wash that WILL clean your wheels, hand dry, vacuum, hand wash inside of windows/dash, plus tire dressing. can't beat it. read more
