I can't give these guys anything but 5 stars. Excellent personal service. An elderly gentleman measured me and rang up my order and it looks like his wife does a lot of the actual alterations. They were able to hem and cut in a suit for me on very short notice for my sister's wedding. It was perfect! Their prices can't be beat for how good of a job they do. Leave a tip! read more

This place is the best! I just went there to have the zipper of my fleece jacket replaced, because as it gets zipped up, the zipper separated instead of zipping together. The man at the place took one look, and told me it's because the zipper head is too wide from being washed too often. The head had to be just so (not too wide and not too close together). He used a plier and crimped the head closer together, and VOILA! the zipper worked perfectly! He advised me to close up the zipper before washing it to prevent that from happening in the future. All this and for no charge! Can you believe that? I'm so impressed with the man (he's so honest and gave me advise) that I'll be a customer whenever the needs arise, and will refer my friends to him. read more

Its hard to find a good alterations place that one isn't going to cost you on arm and 2 legs, two is not going to mess up your clothes, and three able to get your items done in an efficient timely matter. The owners are super sweet and the first time I came in I had about 8 pairs of pants I needed hemmed. I'm a short girl. All finished in a weeks time. And if you need something done a little soon than expected he's usually pretty good about trying to make it work. CASH ONLY lol read more

They did a very good job on my bridesmaid dress alterations. He didn't try to make me pay anymore than what I needed to. I originally thought I would need to shorten the length of the dress but he said I did not need this done since the length was ok with the shoes and that all that needed altering was the straps of the dress. The cost was only $25. Great price and great job on my dress! It fits like a glove ! read more

I have read on here that they will tell you if they cannot do something they will tell you. That was my experience. I had come in to have beading added to my dress and they told me I they couldn't do it and that I needed to find a tailor. I asked if he could recommend someone and he said look in the phone book. Was so not helpful. I feel if they were truly the "Best" they wouldn't have so many limitations on their work. This is not related to the service, but it was a hassle for me to get there, and to be told they couldn't do it was frustrating. All the high praise here made me want to go to them rather then the place that was more convenient. The low stars is mostly to warn you that do have limitations as to what they do, so I wouldn't advise to call ahead of time to see if they can do it. In all fairness this review is not a reflection of the work they actually do. read more

This place is a gem. The couple that runs the place not only knows what they are doing, but they provide the service with smiles on their faces. The man seems to be the one who does the measuring and cutting, and the woman does the sewing. I brought in quite a few pairs of slacks that I had bought for work. The man was meticulous in taking the measurements. When I picked up my slacks, I asked if I could try them on before leaving. Everything fit perfectly. Before I walked out, I left them a $20 tip since they did such a great job, and their prices were so reasonable. read more

I've been going here for years. They are terrific. One time I took several pairs of pants in for hemming, and upon picking them up, the gentleman there told me that one of the pairs of pants was already a petite inseam and didn't need altering, and he returned my payment for that pair of pants. I've been going here since I moved to Alameda five years ago, and have never been disappointed. The owners are helpful and pleasant, and they do a great job for a reasonable price. They were even able to take my BF's hand-me-down suit and make it larger -- after they let the fabric out, you couldn't even tell that it had been altered. They always recognize me when I come in, too. And I think they do still give discounts for large orders! Highly recommended. read more

Honestly this the best place for alterations. The owners/ employees are a very skilled elderly couple. Very kind and good at explaining any question or concern you might have. I took in 2 suit pants and one jacket to be altered; first pant only had the length altered and the second hand the length altered and the legs slimmed down and the crotch raised, and my jacket sleeves were altered. All together it came up to $77. Pretty good if you ask me. The workmanship is superb and although he is older the man that helped me is very up to date with current trends which helped allot. read more

I had a similar experience to Randy L's,but I think worse ! I walked in with a swim suit in my hand and was instantly told by the man there that they absolutely DID NOT work on swimsuits,that a SPECIAL machine was needed for that.I could accept this statement but for the fact that he never even looked at my face,nor at the brand new,not even yet worn bathing suit.He just acted annoyed,brushing me off as soon as I entered the store.Now maybe this guy was having a bad day,but he instantly turned me away when I tried at first to ask advice - I wanted to turn the straps into adjustable ones or just make them shorter.I hadn't even gotten the chance to ask if they could do this alteration.Just "no,no you need a special machine for swimsuits "Do you know anyone who can work on swimsuits ? " No,no" He said.He was just extremely rude and I'm a little embarrassed to say,but as I left I began to tear up, unsure who to ask now as I had planned to try this myself first (tho' I don't know how to sew) and just needed some direction and advice from someone who DOES know how to sew.BTW the only other person in the shop - a woman - never even looked up to acknowledge my presence nor offer any advice either on the questions I was asking.I"ll just finish by saying I turned to Beverly's at Southshore Ctr for advice and had not only the complete opposite experience,but met two of the most thoughtful,helpful,kindest,supportive and knowledgeable young seamstresses who went out of their way not ony to share their expertise with me,but who made my bathing suit ready for the pool.Bless you guys - Alejandra and Jocelyn - You two are THE BEST and I hope you are always appreciated.I will NEVER forget not only the time you gave me but also the unwavering generous spirit in which you gave it.Thank you for EVERYTHING ! read more
