Standing at a tall 5'1, I wind up getting pretty much everything hemmed. Jeans, dresses, slacks -- you name it, I've shortened it. I gotta thank the dynamic duo who work here for my perfectly tailored wardrobe. I discovered this gem of a place a little over a year ago and have been consistently impressed by their work. I get jeans shortened here regularly because the average American is apparently a giant... There is a single dressing room for you to try on your article of clothing. When you step out, the super nice man will pin the right length that you want to adjust to. The handy work is usually carried out by his female counterpart who is the real machine behind the sewing machine. More recently, I took my bridesmaids dress in to shorten as well. There was all sorts of different fabrics involved and it was a BUBBLE dress to boot, but they made it work and it turned out fantastic. Their prices are super duper cheap and top quality work. I seriously love this place and would recommend everyone to come in for any alterations they need. read more

It's a small shop. Pretty much a hole in the wall that I passed a few times because I blinked. But, David (I believe is the gentleman's name) is really friendly. I got fitted, in and out fast, and the work was great. I trust Mama-san with my military uniforms. The prices were the lowest I've ever been charged and I was not hesitant to leave a tip. Best alteration shop around. These people are amazing. Have taken so many things here for hemming, shortening sleeves, altering a fantastic buy just a bit off to a beautiful custom fit, or repairing damage from everyday wear. He always takes the moment to do an appropriate diagnosis of the problem (does it need a hem to be better fit), the stitching quality is always excellent and lasting, and have always been happy with the results. This place does good quality work. I've brought pants and shirts here over the last few years. They're not expensive unless you need the alteration done as a rush in which case there is a fee. The husband and wife are extremely nice. There is a yellow zone for parking right in front of their shop as well as meters on the street. You can also get meter free parking on the other side on Park Ave near the park. They accept cash only. read more

i get my pants hemmed at this place b/c the owners are very nice and do a superb job. this past time i went in, he did me a favor and got my pants done in 2 days b/c i told him i would be gone for 2 weeks on vacation and wouldn't be able to pick them up til then. bring cash or check b/c they don't take credit card. you can pay when you pick up. read more

I have went here a few times now. I have dropped off suites and slacks only. I haven't had them work on any shirts etc. With regards to their workmanship it seems to be pretty good. These guys aren't going to make your alterations looks super trendy but they do a great job at getting the things done. I had them taper pants, resize suite jackets etc. As you can tell I am not praising them for their workmanship but also not complaining about it either. They get the job done, no frills. Let me say one thing, they are pricey. I swear I have not walked out of this place without a $100+ bill each time. Oh and they only take CASH!! REALLY!! I mean if your bill is under $40 bucks fine but if I'm paying $150+ for alterations take a credit card, as you can tell it annoys me. read more

I always take my pants here to get tailored. They have a fitting room so you don't have to worry about guessing with measurements. The prices are very reasonable as well. I think its $8-$12 for pants depending on the type of pant and if you want a cuff or not. I took my jeans in one time and the owner knew they hadn't been washed yet so he took a little less off to make sure they did not come out to short. Those little things make all the difference. Best alterations I know to date. this place is a small tiny little building on park street. I use to go down the street to another shop and they always screwed up my jeans! they'd wear loopsided and I didnt know why until I came to best alterations. this shop has a fitting room so I always try on my designer jeans so they could be measured perfectly. I believe its $8 to get jeans hemed and a couple more dollars if you want orginal hem, which I always opt for. they're priced very well and the service is great. they always have my jeans ready and waiting. Normally, I never trust businesses that use superlatives in their names but 'Best Alteration' lives up to it's self-inflicted hype.

I was immediately greeted warmly by the husband and wife as I explained what I was hoping for- a new zipper for the dress and reinforced seams. Came here to get a lined skirt shorted. They did a great job, very meticulous work. The guy is honest and he knows what he is doing. They wife is the one on the sewing machine. Had the worst customer service experience of my life here. Originally decided to give Best Alteration a try based on all the positive reviews. Had a shirt and pants that I needed taken in for a wedding. The guy literally turned hostile after I asked if he could re-pin the hem of my pant leg slightly longer. At first I thought, "No way this is happening because everyone else said this place is the best! It must just be me." But as I tried to talk to him and explain myself he grew more and more passive aggressive, ultimately refusing to do any of the alterations for me despite my sincerest attempts at diplomacy. I can respect a business owner's decision to refuse service to a customer, but the passive aggressiveness and incoherent diatribe was simply uncalled for. Businesses like these deserve to go under. read more

The woman here is awesome! She is great at what she does! She is also very accommodating. I had a last minute hem needed before a flight she had it done in a day and a half, when other places said a week. She also asks all the questions you would hope she would. She gives you options for hems and makes sure she knows what you want the results to be. She tells you if there would be a price difference depending on the different options, although all their services are very reasonably priced. There is a small area you can try on your cloths to show her how you want it altered if need be. I have only brought jeans to her but am about to bring her my favorite jacket to have the lining fixed and have the utmost confidence I will be 100% satisfied with her work! read more

I just moved up here from So Cal, and all I can say is what a gem of a find! This husband and wife tandem is such a pleasure to deal with. I went in for a hem of my jeans and was impressed with how meticulous the process was (most tailors are so sloppy in their measurement taking process). I was also asked if I had already washed my jeans so that shrinkage could be factored into the measurements (again, true attention to the minor details that ultimately matter to most of us). The true test was when I got my jeans back today. They were absolutely perfect! A good tailor is a necessity, and I'm so glad I found one. read more

Nevertheless, we went shopping afterwards. She definitely played the role as my "style consultant". She definitely had good taste, but for the love of God - good taste didn't come cheap. Thankfully, we had Best Alteration. I brought my "updated wardrobe" to Best Alteration to have it altered a bit. The owners are super warm and friendly, and they spent a lot of time pinning each garment so I could see exactly how it would fit after the adjustments. The quality of the work is very high - much higher than the place I used to go when I lived in LA. The fit of everything is even better than it would have been if I'd gone shopping for new clothes, plus it didn't cost as much! Since that first experience, I've already gone back with a couple other garments. Unless you pay for rush service, expect everything to take about two weeks. read more
