I think she did a great job of hemming my new jeans and they were done the next day. Good price, too.

Good quality work is most important so I give them 4 stars. If you want it back in a hurry...maybe 3 stars. A good and convenient tailor.

A very reliable tailor near Berkeley, and the only one I'll be going to until I move!…read more I got my dresses hemmed and it was done perfectly. The stitching was on point! It looked as if that's exactly how the dress came in. At the appointment, the owner takes the time to understand how it's supposed look, and how you want it to fit. After the appointment, it was very easy to communicate with the owner. He responded promptly and was transparent. I had to schedule a last minute hemming request and it was done on time! If you're in a pickle, just call and see if he can do it. He will not schedule an appointment if he knows he cannot get it done on time, which I appreciate for being direct. I'll definitely come back but this time without any last minute requests!

He's very kind, understanding, and is a master of the craft. Below is a recent before and after of a vintage thobe I thrifted that needed some love. It was originally way too large for me and I wanted to convert to short sleeves & lose the 70s shoulder poof without removing any of the handmade cross stitch embroidery. The after picture speaks for itself. The thobe fits perfect with all the right details I wanted Thank you as always for the excellent work!

I found Mari's Alterations through Yelp because of the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my…read moreexperience was not positive so that was when I started looking into the 1 and 2 star reviews on Yelp and Google. They're all saying the same thing about Maria being disorganized and unreliable, which was exactly my experience. And based on reading the negative feedback, I noticed this lady tends to deflect blame. Never her fault. Always something else. I brought in two pairs of jeans for hemming and a wool coat that needed a lining added. Price was affordable. She gave me a week timeline to pick up. I originally planned to pick everything up on Saturday, but I called the next day (Sunday) and asked if I could pick up a day early on Friday instead. She said yes. Thursday came and I called them just to remind them as I've had experiences elsewhere in the past where things got forgotten and I didn't want to make a 25 min drive and finding out my stuff isn't ready. Lo and behold, when I called to remind her I'll be picking up the following day, she said Saturday so I reminded her I called her last Sunday to change to friday. She said okay, she's not busy so she can work on it. I showed up Friday at around 11. My stuff wasn't done. Her employees were working on it. At first she mentioned pick up was supposed to be Saturday. I repeated I've made phone calls prior to change to Friday and she said yes. Then she said I came too early. Say what? We never confirmed on a pickup time. Then she asked me to wait additional 40 minutes. And she argued with me, giving me an attitude. I let her know she was unprofessional and disorganized and this was before I read all the negative reviews. It frustrated me because she had the whole week to work on them and she didn't. Will not be taking my business here again. I do not recommend her business.

She is also pricier than other seamstresses I've shopped around with. She has a limited schedule. When I did my initial fitting she kind of waited for me to tell her what I wanted fix. I knew dress didn't fit perfectly but I couldn't pin point how to fix it. The seamstress I worked with for my reception dress was a lot more helpful in guiding me on what should be done. The one thing I did ask for (tightened straps), she didn't recommend because she thought it would cut into me when I moved--I was constantly pulling them up on my wedding day. One thing really bothered me. When I booked, she stated there would be 2-3 fittings. However; when I asked when I asked when my 2nd fitting would be she said she was fully booked. Like I said earlier, she has a limited scheduled. I was really nervous, but I was able to book at G&G instead of at her house so I was able to get my second fitting. It food well enough that I didn't ask for any adjustments because I was already frustrated with the situation. The hemming and bustle she did were okay. The extra breast cups she put in were loose and could have been done better. I think Nadia was a skilled seamstress but I would choose someone else if I could do it all again. I would have preferred to use the seamstress I had for my reception dress. The communication, scheduling, and pricing was much better.

Obviously with something as important as your wedding dress you want to find the best! Nadia was…read moreamazing-responsive, very kind, very professional, and great at what she does. She got everything perfect with just one fitting and just in time to pick up before my event. She helped my bridesmaid learn how to lace my corset top and also how to bustle the dress. She does require a $25 consultation hold, which I think is a reasonable trade for her time. Don't forget that most seamstresses need at least 2 months without rushing so remember to plan accordingly!

I've been searching for a reliable tailor in the San Francisco area, and Tina's Alterations was…read moreexactly what I was looking for. I had four dresses that needed alterations for several upcoming weddings and initially sent Tina photos of all of them. Rather than accepting every project, she carefully evaluated each dress and agreed to work on only two. She explained that while the other two dresses could technically be altered, the fabric and fit would make it difficult to achieve a result that met her quality standards. I greatly appreciated her honesty and professionalism. Many businesses would have accepted all four dresses, but Tina was focused on delivering work she could confidently stand behind. Her transparency and commitment to quality immediately gave me confidence in her expertise. During my first visit to Tina, I brought both my dresses to try on to assess the alterations that I needed done (mostly hemming). She provided a quote at that time, and stated that payment could be made at pick-up. I found her pricing to be very reasonable given the complexity of the dresses (material and multiple layers). The two dresses she altered turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the fit was exactly what I wanted. The turnaround time was about two weeks from drop-off to pickup, which I found very reasonable (especially since I had told Tina there was no rush). She clearly takes pride in her work and pays close attention to the details that make a difference. One thing to note is that English is her second language and Mandarin is her first, so there can be a bit of a language barrier. If you speak Mandarin, communication will likely be even smoother. That said, I found Tina to be thoughtful, professional, and genuinely committed to achieving the best possible result for her clients. I would definitely return for future alterations and would highly recommend Tina's Alterations to anyone looking for quality workmanship and honest, trustworthy service.
