My cousin found a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta listed for $15000 on cargurus so he took the money and went to buy it cash, once there he was told that he had to finance the car to get that deal and he accepted. He gave them $6000 cash thinking he would have to finance the rest which is $9000 plus some (bs) extended warranty for $2984 plus all other fees which are supposed to be (taxes - dmv "title, registration and plates"). As excited as he was like anybody else buying his first car he signed all the documents he was given TRUSTING them. Here is the surprise the initial $15000 became $18318 plus extended warranty $2984 plus $3881 for accessories the car was stock meaning everything was original nothing extra. My cousin never asked for any accessories and there was no accessories added anyway plus $500 extra fees. They never gave him a bill of sale until today. They charged him $7200 on top of the initial $15000 for what ‍ maybe because he is naïve or maybe stupid to trust the wrong people. I'm writing this review to all of you planning on buying from this guys or any other dealership be careful and read before you sign. This is not gonna end here. I had a 4 star review earlier until I got home and learned that purchasing warranties as a condition of financing is illegal and being TOLD by Rick that purchasing a 4 year warranty as a condition of our Bank of America financing was illegal. I have reported the issue to the NY authority. Also that Uptempo company is scammy as all heck. I really didn't want to be enrolled but was told there was no downside and we could cancel at anytime. Just so you know the "first payment" for Uptempo isn't actually a car payment. It is an insane enrollment fee. It is also very difficult to cancel. They only let us cancel after quoting NY's 3 day contract law. They send an email after a purchase with the GMs contact info for you to "express any concerns" and I called to express these concerns and haven't gotten any kind of call back. I purchased a vehicle that was supposed to have GPS Navigation. Come to find out it didn't. That was one of the main reasons why I bought it. They let me think it had it and then when I was in possession of the vehicle and found out that that it couldn't even be installed. I respectfully asked them to take the car back, but they said no. TL;DR: DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I have reported this business to the Better Business Bureau because they will bait and switch you on the pricing - either because the salespeople are incompetent and/or because they are genuinely trying to waste your time and want customers to think they are getting one price and then will tack on thousands of dollars when you go to finalize your deal - this is where Rich the finance guy comes in and is incredibly rude. Best Auto Outlet is a complete sham - from their misleading quoted prices on their website/phone, to their completely incompetent sales staff, to their snake-y finance team. In our initial contact with them, we were quoted $13,998 for a 2018 Hyundai Tucson, which is also what is listed on the website. We then went to the location expecting to negotiate and their salesperson explained that on the website it states that the price of the car is $13,998 but with a deposit of $1995. Without a deposit, the car price would go up to $15,983. As is evident, already the wording is confusing: is the price of the car $13,998 or $15,983??? Is it simply more expensive without a deposit and cheaper with one??? So of course, we repeatedly asked for clarification during our meeting and the way the salesman continued to explain it was: the higher the deposit the lower the cost of the car would be but, that we would need to finance at least $5k minimum in order to get a sale price. We then went on to make a verbal contract/understanding that we would put down $6K on the car and finance $5,800 for a total cost of $11,800 for the car (including NY state taxes). That same day, they asked us for a deposit for $500 to hold the car while they sorted out the financing. This all happened on a Sunday. And keep in mind that they have taken our social security information in order to figure out this financing - so they have our personal information. I then proceeded to keep following up with them on Monday and Tuesday, to see if they had any updates on the financing and when we could come and finalize the deal - they did not call me once, rather, I kept following up to see what was happening. During these phone calls, I once again confirmed with the salesman that the price of the car would be $11,800, we would be financing $5,800 and putting down $6K and then even confirmed that the cost could potentially be even less because the $11,800 was quoted on NY state tax and we would be registering in NJ and he said yes - to all of this. Finally, it is now Wednesday, several days after the deposit and lots of following up with them regarding the financing and when we could come in - my husband calls and they say we are all set to come in Wednesday evening to finalize this deal. We spend money and trek back out to Long Island, wait around to speak with the finance manager - Rich - who once we are seated, looks at us and asks "do you have the purchasing order, I don't have the purchasing order." To which we reply that we don't, as we were not given any paperwork. He then starts yelling through his door asking for the salesman to bring him the purchase order, the salesman doesn't have it, he keeps yelling asking someone to bring it - he then turns to us and he says, "Well while we wait for this, what was the price you were quoted? Because I guarantee you, it will not be what you were quoted. Right off the bat, we have these two fees that are charged for every purchase --" at which point, we cut him off because both fees were thousands of dollars combined and my husband lets him know that we were told the total price of the car would be $11,800 with 6K down and financing the remaining ~$5k. At this Rich laughs at us and calls in his manager and says, "tell him what you told me", which we do and Rick - the manager is baffled as to how we got to this price. They then call in the salesperson, who proceeds to start to do the math on a piece of paper and completely messes it up - he quotes the $11,800 again with $6K down and remaining ~$5K financing but then backtracks and says, wait no no it would be $11,800 plus $6K down and financing $11,800 - which would then put the total cost of the car at $17,800 which is $2K over even the listed price with a $1995 deposit down, which is just outrageous. I proceed to call this out as a complete bait and switch and say that I will be reporting this to the BBB at which point Rich starts to yell letting us know that we should go ahead and do that and hire a lawyer for our "verbal agreement" etc., and storms out. Rick, the manager, proceeds to apologize and say he has no idea how this number came to be and we point out that usually it is the liability of the salesperson to take that hit if they made a mistake but Rick does not budge. We left and did receive our $500 deposit back but overall, this place is a scam and does not offer clear or transparent pricing and will try to trick buyers into one cost and then charge them something else. After reviewing my purchase agreement numbers I didn't finalize with this dealership. This dealership has a hidden fee "Niada certification" which is an extended warranty program for 10 years. No where on the dealership website stated you will be charged a mandatory powertrain warranty of $3000. Along with this the car already has a powertrain warranty from INFINITI due to it being 2018 and has less than 60,000 mileage. The finance manager should know this however, he is too busy thinking of ridiculous hidden fees to charge consumers. As for the credit application he ran my credit to multiple banks when I told them only run it through capital one bank. If you decide to visit this dealership be ready for hidden fees and read over everything within your documents. I came into this dealership because I saw an ad online for a certain price. I came in and spoke with Rodney and he was nice BUT almost every question I had about the car he could not give me definitive answer. Questions like "Was the car a trade in?" "Why doesn't the radio work?" "Can I test drive the car?". The car was nice, I test drove it and I put down a $1000 deposit and negotiated price and repairs because the car needed a few things done. They had a prep fee for $595 and a $395 delivery fee (mind you delivery fee for what, this car is a used car) But anyway after a few days of going back and fourth trying to put the financing through because I was financing through their dealership, the total purchase price came up to $16,000 (with all fees and taxes included) $4,000 off the price I saw online, what? After looking over the contract and speaking with the FM, Glen, he couldn't even EXPLAIN all the fees, he was stumbling on the numbers and would have to start over on the calculator several times because he had no clue what he was saying. After messing up and admitting to some fees that were being charged, this dealership was charging me about $3000 in fees. There was a $600 bank fee, $950 acquisition fee (this fee is applied to LEASED vehicles, not used cars), Delivery and prep fees($595+$395) combining into $990 plus $650 more in fees that weren't specific enough to understand what they were for? They would NOT budge on the price, I ended up walking out TWICE and both times the FM chased after us. We went in for the last time and they took off $600 but it was not enough. The sketchiness of this place was just off the charts and the fact that they are charging these ridiculous fees is unbelievable. Someone uninformed would've fell for this "deal" but always make sure you KNOW WHAT EACH FEE IS FOR and WHY THE PRICE IS THAT PRICE. On my arrival i was treated like a family and thats what counts. Horrible experience especially with the "somewhat management" male. The salesperson, John, was kind. He showed us his SUVs in hopes of finding a right selection. The reason they only got 1 star is because they charge all customers for maintenance, diagnostics AND shipment even when none have been performed on the vehicle. Thousands of dollars were added onto the total for "dealer fees" that had no explanation. We requested management and a male came by and literally stated he was "somewhat management." His negativity towards the idea of an explanation was immense. His answer to it all was to take his word for it. We requested a diagnostic sheet and again, he stated to only take his word for it because there was no diagnostic sheets at that dealer. Odd answer when we were promised a diagnostic sheet the day before. Also, the vehicle's oil was at 40%, the car was filthy and the trunk had liquid damage they claimed they will fix before we return the next day. We requested they remove $155 for their lack of info and they refused. It's a shame a business wouldn't budge $155 to make their first sale of the year.
