On 4/3/26 I went with my nephew to look at 2 cars at this establishment. I did surely walk in with skepticism and ready to direct my nephew out of any bad deal on getting a car from this place all due to past experiences of car dealerships new and used. From beginning to end the sales experience at power motors shattered my cynical expectations. My nephew needed a vehicle to get back and forth from work and had his sites on a pre-owned 2022 VW Jetta they had. The sales staff assured us that the car was there but in storage. It took a while but they brought the car for him to see in person. They salesman Keyshawn was super straight forward with my nephew about the non haggled price, and the financing. Between that and the car being in immaculate condition, it was a no brainer to purchase the vehicle on the spot. The only drawback was it took like 6 hours but it is excused because there was delays with the insurance company and they detailed the vehicle before giving it to my nephew. This experience should be happening 100% at every dealership. Transparency and honesty will always bring business. Power Motors NYC demonstrated that practice that day. I had a terrible experience buying my car from Power Motors. One of the main reasons I moved forward with this purchase was because I was told the vehicle qualified for the EV tax credit. Later, I found out the credit was applied illegally and not according to IRS rules. This put me at risk and created problems that I never should have had to deal with. On top of that, they added extra fees after the deal was already agreed to. Nothing was explained clearly upfront. When I tried to get help and clarification, they stopped responding and refused to take responsibility. Calls and messages went unanswered, and they showed no interest in fixing their mistake. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS BY ANY MEANS! I was not going to file this complaint because as of recent, the vehicle was ultimately taken back and the lending bank was refunded, but the aftermath is the problem. I have an open loan still since it hasn't updated on my credit that they paid the faulty car off and took possession of it. This is limiting me from getting a new car loan. I have a 1 year old son, and because of their deceptive ways, i am unable to get a new vehicle until this clears up. I have been without transportation over 2 months because of this company. This is what happened: - I originally went in for a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee listed at $21,107. I had a $25,000 loan approval but was pushed into buying a lower-priced 2020 Ford Fusion, ( a little over $14,000 original price) after add-ons and BS fees, they were able to max out the loan to maximize their profit. The dealer falsely claimed services like "Drive Complete Care" and a Drive Care warranty were required for bank approval. This was a lie. Over $7000 added to vehicle right there. YOU DO NOT NEED THAT NOR ARE YOU OBLIGATED DO NOT LET THEM CONVINCE YOU! Walk away. Fast. Also, I have recordings of them making that claim and called to get confirmation from the bank that it was untrue. After delivery, the check engine light was on. I was told it was due to a battery replacement, but the light reappeared minutes into my first drive. They also have a fee called "Preventative maintenance" another that you most likely so not need. Because if they did maintenance on the Ford Fusion before they sold it to me and repaired whatever was needed, I would not be writing this today. Anyway, in hindsight, they used a device to clear the CEL temporarily, INSTEAD of fixing the issue before ai bought it. Let's fast forward a bit. A few days pass while i'm waiting for PMNYC to "get the parts needed for repair" so I wanted to dig deeper. I called the lending bank and asked them to send me copies of the paperwork that PMNYC refused to give me and said it would be sent via email ( a lie ).. [PRO TIP: THEY ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO GIVE YOU PHYSICAL PAPERWORK OF YOUR TRANSACTION AT TIME OF PURCHASE] but anyway, upon reviewing the banks paperwork compared to photos I took of the documents, I discovered forged signatures and undisclosed charges like "drive complete care" & "preventative maintenance." In short, they completely butchered my opportunity to buy a vehicle so that I may have easier access to my son who lives almost an hour away from me and put a ton of strain on my personal and work life. If they handled it correctly & sold me the car I came for, the car my loan would have covered without their BS fees and markups, I would be in a better position today. I was cordial with them the entire time, even through the lies and deceit. They ultimately refunded the lending bank after 2 months of back and forth. As of today, I am currently stuck due to their initial abuse in handling my vehicle purchase. I am very dissatisfied & disappointed & I honestly hope the karma comes back around. The strain this issue has caused on my life ALL DUE to the way they mishandled my transaction, is more than enough reason for me to BEG you to shop elsewhere. Watch out for these people. I have been trying to buy a Tesla from them for the past three days. I'm in a different state, so I couldn't go in to see the car. I was relying on their honesty and transparency, but instead I just got the runaround and an attempt to fleece me. I was ready to get a cashier's check and fly to New York from Minnesota and needed a final statement listing the charges for the car. They sent me a statement that double billed for "reconditioning" and included a charge for a burglar device that is not necessary on a Tesla but unwanted. I called and talked to the manager, who said he would revise and send me a new statement. He never did. In the meantime, the initial salesperson, who was never available, kept sending mea text, asking me to call him. I called and always spoke to someone different. I've requested the revised statement numerous times, but they've never sent it. I assume they don't like that I not only caught the double billing but that I refused the burglar device, so they aren't going to sell me the car. Literally tried to scam me. We agreed on a sale price. Then when I went to pay the deposit an extra $1000 has been hidden in the base price that wasn't obvious unless I recalculated the price. When I asked him about the difference he said that the $1k extra was close to the original price we had agreed to so he felt like he didn't have to say anything and that he's losing money on the deal etc. How is this even legal. He would have gotten away with it too if I had taken the time out to recalculate the amount (he was trying to hide the extra amount under tax, deposit etc). They repair them good enough to sell but immediately after purchase you will begin to notice things are off. Also don't allow them to trick into the lextended warranty through them (DRIVECARE) because it covers little to nothing with a $300 deductible. The service center their affiliated with Elite Mitsubishi on Atlantic Avenue is a complete joke if you even ever get in contact with them. Whether it's to make an appt for your vehicle to be serviced or to inquire about your vehicle they're supposed to be servicing. Sophy( the over worked under trained for pressure rep there) Can never answer your question with a legitimate answers you ask. She will say she will call you back and never does. she will state I submitted the claim and doesn't until a week or so after. she won't provide you with any documentation you request on what's being done on your car but will come up with charges that don't make sense and she will talk you in a circle. The owners from Power Motors NYC Manny is very rude and unprofessional and will provide vague short answers to your questions. Peter the one who does your registration is unorganized and will never call you back because he's busy but if you visit the dealership it's empty. Expect to wait a month to receive your registration sticker, if he even put your information right to the dmv system. You even end up having to pay for it online because of how long you wait. Ohhhhhhhhh and might I add don't allow them to assist you with getting insurance because they use unlicensed brokers who charge you a fee to find the insurance for you plus your first month of insurance and less than 30 days you will have a LAPSE. LAST but certainly not least the biggest Moron of them all the Manager Kishon he's extremely incompetent unprofessional, not trust worthy and plays oblivious when you question him on if he received communication from you whether it's email or phone. He will say one thing on the phone then in person he acts as though he has dementia. He's will have the Operator who answers the phone lie and say he's busy 24/7 when he knows he wrong and their monitor calls to avoid customers. All and all save your money and time because all they will do is run you in circles and you will be stuck with a LEMON OF A VEHICLE. If I could give NO Stars I would... I had several conversations on the phone about a used car that I was interested in. In these conversations we confirmed pricing EVERY TIME. I explained that I would be traveling 3 hours and didn't want any surprises. I should have known from the moment I arrived that there was a red flag because the representative that I had the appointment with went home. Went home even though I was assured they would wait if my trip was longer than 3 hours due to traffic, which it wasn't. Once I started the working with another sales representative I learned that the car I was interested was not there but that it was in storage...another red flag...the final flag was that the price quoted and confirmed several times did NOT reflect an ADDITIONAL $5,000 dealer fee or they call it "deposit". So at the end of the day it was the listed price plus an additional $5,000 plus tax and registration. What a deceitful way to do business and they knew I was traveling a 6 hour round tip. We drove 2 hours for a 11am apt. We did not have anyone help us until 12pm. The first thing we asked was if the car was the same price as listed online because the price on the car was 41k but online was 25k and they confirmed it was 25k. We were never shown numbers upfront until they already did the whole process with the finance companies and had us signing finance forms. That's when I caught that the CAR ONLY price had increased by 6k! Not including taxes, reg., and other fees. On top of the cash down payment we had given, they were telling us we needed to pay the first month upfront as well as some other fee coming to an addition $1400 not included in the finance cost. All together they were trying to say a 25k car was coming to 55k. This would have been my 4th car purchased from a dealership and I've never experienced something like this. Luckily we went to Baron Honda about an hour away from this dealer ship and they broke down all the finances for us and there was none of these hidden fees that Power Motors had and we got the same car different color with less miles for 32k with all fees. My first experience dealing with power motors on hillside was good, at least I thought so until I experienced the vehicle missing parts. The company did not offer me a Carfax for reasons as well as chose a bank that gave me the highest APR with no regard for me as a valued customer, which they would like to want you to believe. I am still stuck with this vehicle and had to refinance at a much lower APR. Once they get you to sign you will never hear from them again and they could care less what happens from that point on. They will put a high pressured salesman and take you from their mediocre salesman so that they can fleece you. They've done well on the market and that's the reason why they've opened up a new dealership on Boston Road in the Bronx to continue the flagrant disregard for the consumer. One of the salesman there that calls himself " styles" is a lowdown dirty dog he pulled down the rear hatch on my jeep grand Cherokee and I had to get it reset because there was no button to press for it to go down in the rear. Beware of him his name is Patrick Thompson. This place will rip you off for anything they can get !
