Grew up in Great Neck and now live in Tampa. It was a good reminder to return to Best Bagels of what I miss in Great Neck.

0 stars. Got my order wrong, up charged my CC bc I said I didn't need a receipt & this was my $13 bagel with lox. One peekaboo sliver of lox. When asking for an minimal amount be added, they charged me $5 for this second photo of 1.5 slices more and with an attitude, when they initially got my order wrong in the first place. Ridiculous. I've been coming here for over 20 years. Never again. What a ripoff, poor service/attitude, and even after the fact when I asked them nicely to correct my order they act like they're doing you a favor. Save yourself the aggravation and some $ and go to Bagel Hut.

I have lived in Great Neck for over 20 years and walked into this store for the first time today. My oldest daughter and I bought bagels for breakfast. Business is very good! There are many varieties! The service is very friendly and the environment is just like an ordinary fast food (breakfast restaurant).

Thank you Patrick for service with a smile! Okay! Fine! So you don't make lattes. I get it. But I have to say that my "whole deal" lived up to my memory of what bagels and lox are supposed to taste like.

A dozen bagels quickly put into a plastic bag after delivery. Excellent taste and texture!

During the current crisis, I've been trying several bagel shops around town that delivers. Best Bagels is a shop that's right on Middle Neck Road and one that I've never tried. I found that they are open early morning on my app where I order. I went ahead and purchased a dozen along with a small order of belly lox and egg salad. The bagels that I bought were all nice and puffy and had that nice sheen and crust that good bagels have. After eating a perfectly browned garlic bagel, I would have to have their bagels a solid 7 on a 10 scale. It had a very nice chewiness. To my taste, I like extremely chewy, almost gummy bagels with a crusty outer shell. For most people Best Bagel's chewiness would be excellent. As for the egg salad and belly lox, the egg salad was done just right. The belly lox was sliced paper thin, which is exactly what I would expect from a skilled bagelry. All in all, having Best Bagels open in this time of crisis is really heartening in my book. They're really serving a need for the neighborhood so kudos to them!

Just too slow. They seem to have a lot of workers just milling around. There are better places in Great Neck.

This Tous Les Jours location is on Great Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza, conveniently located by the Great Neck LIRR. When you first enter the bakery, you can see the display of organized labelled pastries and bread. The lighting is warm and the bakery is welcoming. I grabbed a tray, tongs, and a piece of parchment paper to put on top of the tray while I browsed the array of choices. I chose a Portuguese Egg Tart, also known as Pastel De Nata. My husband and I shared a croquette, garlic sausage block, and he had the spicy sausage. The Pastel De Nata was so flaky and crisp. Once I took the first bite, you can hear the crunch and the filling of creamy egg custard was so good. The garlic sausage block was really good as well. It was the perfect ratio of dough and sausage. The spicy sausage had pieces of jalapeno and the sausage was very good. The croquette was thick, crispy, and had a really good filling. I also got the Honey Lavender Matcha Latte, it was refreshing and creamy. Inside, there is plenty of seating options from tables to countertop seats. All the pastries were very yummy and not overly greasy. Everything that I've tried at Tous Les Jours have been really light and airy and you can't go wrong.

The ube basque cheesecake was smooth and rich, but not as potent of an ube flavor as I would've expected. IMO the standout was the passionfruit donut. It reminded me so much of a malasada. The dough was perfectly light and airy and paired perfectly with the tart passionfruit filling. I also picked up their pandesal (that was still warm!) which was baked to perfection and was just slightly sweet. I saw online that the head baker previously did pastry and Michelin restaurants and it really showed. All the bakes were so well done and the flavors weren't overly sweet. I can't wait to go back to try more!

The inside of the shop looked super cute and cozy on the front side. The back is very much a wide-open kitchen, and it was interesting to watch them work on the pastries as soon as I walked in. Alas it was the end of the day, right before 5pm, so I didn't see any cookies left in the display case. However I am a sucker for basque style cheesecakes. So I purchased a small ube cheesecake and a bibingka cheesecake. If it wasn't so late in the day, I would have wanted to try one of their deliciously flavored drinks as well! The cakes were very moist and not crumbly at all, as basque cheesecake can sometimes turn. I did appreciate that there's a little bit of that creamy gooey center but the rest of the cake held good structure without loosing airiness. I did like the ube one better, but the salted egg yolk and the overall flavor of the bibingka cheesecake was so unique. I will visit again, hopefully earlier in the day, to catch some of the best textured chocolate crinkle cookie I've ever had and one of the Filipino-inspired drinks!

If you don't see what you're looking for in the case, just ask because they are constantly baking and steaming for the demand. For one, I think they strategically set up shops in areas far out in Queens that are not easily accessible or overrun by the masses--this can easily bring down a business' quality. We ordered a variety of things to try, including their range of char siu baos, like the pineapple bun, the snow crust, and the regular baked bun. Definitely a step up above what Mei Lai Wah is now, with the chunky cuts of meat, but way too sweet, even with the regular version. Highly suggest just sticking with the regular unless you're really curious about the pineapple or snow crust, which really just adds a layer of sugar. My mom spotted their sachima and quickly snatched one up. They sell a small selection of Southern Chinese and Hong Kong baked goods and pastries, but don't expect the variety of a Chinese bakery. Prices are a bit steep, and I don't know if it varies by location since this location is in a higher-cost area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I'm craving a good char siu bao - most Chinese bakeries do them well, just a matter of finding them. Most people who came in when we were there seem to buy them in boxes so either they're a hit at parties/events or some households really love them.
