Green tea fiend here and this is a review for only their green tea items. These are some of the best renditions I've had. Five stars for these! Tried green tea sponge cake wrapped/baked in paper. Surprisingly very moist with a strong green tea flavor and a subtle sweetness. At a lot of other bakeries, this cake comes out a bit dry in the center. These are even better than the infamous place in Manhattan's Chinatown, who only make these. Also tried the triangle green tea sponge cakes with a light layer of green tea cream, spread across the center . I was pleasantly surprised how good these were. Light and creamy with a nice strong flavor. These were also very moist. Freshly made: these were off to the side, still sitting on baking trays, ready to be put on display. Green tea is expensive so don't expect cheap pricing. The owner did tell me, though it's cheaper if I bought 2, it will be a $6 total. Service. I chatted with the owner at the counter and she was very nice. Decor: not much to say, very simply and basic. This place has been here for a long time. In the center of the store, there was a lot of different flavored moon cakes. I don't see those much, in bakeries. Haven't tried it. I'll definitely be back for more green tea pastries! Been going here a few times lately for Chinese pastry. Grabbed a roll cake from their fridge, got home and saw tiny specks of mold all over it! There was another bread that tasted brittle also. This probably means they sell whatever leftovers they have and not everything is freshly baked the day of. There's no stickers on anything noting when they're made. We happened to be in the area when she wanted to stop by to get her boyfriend some milk tea so I decided to check it out while we were there. The bakery was amazing with plenty of fresh baked pastries when we came on a Saturday morning. Everything was individually packaged for safely. There was a wide selection of goodies to pick from. We already had lunch plans but I wanted to just try something while we were there. I decided to try their cute little Curry Dumpling ($2.00) pastry. It was little in size but packed with flavors. The exterior had the curry flavor with a very butter and crispy crust while the interior had the curry flavor but with some complimentary sweet onions. Yumm! Of course, the price of those buns have increased from 49 cents to $3.50, but I challenge you to find a cheaper lunch these days., Everything is fresh, unless you want to pay for the eight dollar bargain bag of yesterday's leftovers. The bubble tea is not Kung Fu Tea, but it's half the price. You could also get your typical hotdog in sweetbread, anti-Chik-fil-a fried chicken sandwich, or mustard bun - as in the vegetable mustard and bun - not my cup of tea. But I'd get a cup of tea here, anytime. I ordered a custom made cake with the help of their photo book. I picked the cake and asked for certain toppings. What I got was a cake with NOTHING on top except words "Happy Birthday ..." It was just white cream, no design nothing, and words in red. I didn't have to time to argue when I picked it up because I had to take the cake to a dinner party. I needed Chinese Milk Bread and Red Lotus was the closest Chinese bakery by me according to Yelp. They are located on Northern Blvd, a few blocks over from Little Neck Pkwy. It's street parking only, and you will be really lucky if you can find a spot out front, but I usually park at the McDonald's and walk over. Red Lotus is your typical Chinese bakery but their selection is small and buns get sold out early. They also have large cakes and some individual desserts. There were only 2 packs of milk bread left at 2pm, the traditional milk bread felt a bit hard so I had to go with another type of milk bread, I mean I had no choice. I also couldn't pass up a bolo bao and grabbed one of those too. Not sure if it was too hot or if the bolo baos were old but there was no crispy, buttery, and sugary cracked crust on top. The texture was weird and like flaking off and sticking to the wrapper. Prices here are slightly higher than the Chinese bakeries in Flushing and quality is not as good. We got fish and pork chop sandwich. They are ok. Nothing much to say. - Day old bread sold for 3 for $5 Con: - pricier than Flushings bakery but again, they have no competition in that area. $2 egg tart. $3.50 for bbq pork ( chai Siu bun). $2.50 for dried shredded pork bun. $1.75 for pineapple bun. On the other hand, size are overall little bigger than the Flushings ones. - we reheat them in oven before eating. Taste was so so. It wasn't bad but can't compare to those in Chinatown. I provided the design to the bakery, but the picture on top of cake came out disappointing. I paid extra $15 to put a picture on top of the cake, but it wasn't worthy because their drawing skills needed to be improved. One of the paw patrol's eye was missing and Marshall's nose seemed blended in with his face. It's good to see that there's a Chinese Bakery locate in Little Neck. Wooooo so many choices...I got a Custard Bun, Pineapple Bun, Blueberry cake, and a Strawberry Mousse Cake which the cake box packaging is so adorable and opens up like a Lotus Pad (莲花垫). I like how the baked goods are placed in these individual sealed packaging to keep it still fresh =) There other yummy baked goods contains walnuts and coconut...sadly I am allergic =( The woman that was helping me asked the cashier to give me a cranberry nougat sampler to try but a bag is $10. Wow a Chinese Bakery in Little Neck? Similar style to those cafe/bakery chains in Downtown Chinatown only better. The only downside is paying the prices of Little Neck compared to Downtown. But still worth every penny. The baked goods are fresh, lots of choices, offers hot and cooked fare from inside the kitchen (made to order). I particularly like the egg tarts and mini buttery cakes they sell in a bagged cello package. The outstanding favorites besides those are there mini pastries. Classic favorites are the green tea flavors, egg yolk one, sesame and taro. Yum. They are great for gifting too because they have nice packaging no matter what quantity just mention you need gifting packaging. They have a snack menu and breakfast menu on the back wall. Around 4PM Feb 17, 2020, my wife went to Red Lotus Bakery to buy pasta with meat sauce. The clerk took the order and took the payment. Shortly, they informed my wife that they ran out of meat sauce. My wife asked for refund since she does not like other substitutes. However, the shop refused to refund, the reason was they did not take return orders due to their shop policy. Is this ridiculous? They forced my wife to choose substitutes at the same cost. My wife is nice and it is after all only $7 item, so she took some bakery and left. She's not happy though.
