Stopped in after a quick flight to santa paula airport, great food nice quick service generous portions and all for only 28 bucks thats unheard of! Definitely recommend!

This hole in the wall bbq spot is a must do! Has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and you can watch them cook the meats! Food is delicious! We had the three meat plate that included ribs, hot link, and Tri tip. All very delicious. Also enough to share with someone. The Mac salad is a little dry for my liking but overall all the food is good! Oh and their hot sauce is really hot! Just be aware before dipping but it's so good! Mix it with the bbq sauce and it's even better if you like spice. Service is friendly and quick. Highly recommend it!

First time trying this place and it was pretty good! I think you have to dine in at this place to get the full experience and freshness. The drive back home was about 30 mins. Food was pretty good still! Portions are great! I got a tritip dinner with hot links and macaroni as the side. It was delicious! The mild sauce was flavorful with a slight hint of heat. The hot sauce was just burn your mouth spicy. I got baked beans but maybe I should've done the chili beans. My fault for not knowing the difference lol. I dont like sweet beans in general. Overall service was super fast and friendly. Would definitely come back sometime to dine in!

The tri tip was very good not fatty, not dry, not really thin, it was just right. I got the 1/2 spicy bbq sauce which was a good level for me and just helped out the tri tip without overpowering it. The potato salad was solid and worked well to calm the spice down from the bbq sauce. I was in and out in about 4 minutes even though there was multiple orders going out, very efficient.

Heard about this place from a friend. It was ok. I had the beef ribs and Tri tip with a side of chili beans. The meats were good but the chili beans were a total disappointment. I ordered a salad and I got steamed veggies. Bbq sauce was good, spicy and bold

My husband and I came here while we're in town. We have tried the Santa Barbara location and we had enjoyed it. We wanted to give us a try as well. Customer service is outstanding. Food was great and plenty considering it was one plate for two people. The beans were great. The pasta salad was great, with the potato salad was OK however, the meat and bread were great. I would definitely return and recommended to others

This is a delicious hole in the wall bbq restaurant. It is worth the drive to Santa Paula because it's very unique and has a special spicy and hot bbq sauce. Venue: This restaurant has a parking lot and is nearby a major road. Parking spaces are a little tight, but works for small sedans. When you park, you will be drawn to its smokey smell. There is also plenty of seating inside. Service: This is a casual and blue collar restaurant. Don't expect hospitality and grandeur. It's a bbq joint with counter service. Review the menu before you get in line to order so you don't hold up the line. Food: The sauce is hot and tasty. The tri tip was good and not dry. The pork rib was a little dry and the beef rib was okay. Both ribs needed the sauce to make it better. The sides are average at best, so you can skip it if you just want to have the meats. Their soda fountain is self serve, which is nice if you are eating a lot of spicy food. Overall, this is a good bbq joint. The continue to hold their own with their special bbq sauce. The quality of food is similar or just below Buster's bbq in Ventura. But their prices are also lower here. Definitely come here if you are in Santa Paula.

My husband loves this place so much! It's a must every time we drive through Santa Paula. Our go tos are the Tri tip sandwich & kids bowl. The service is fast even when they are super busy. I've heard this place compares to Buster's in Ventura, but there's nothing similar about them. Their secret is IN THE SAUCE

The World Cup match was on, there was a beautiful fountain creating a relaxing ambiance, and the whole place has a really cool vibe. The building itself is unique. It's an old automotive repair shop that's been transformed into a beautiful restaurant, with what was once the parking lot now serving as a massive outdoor dining patio. It's a great blend of history and modern design. We came during happy hour, which was a great value. My wife enjoyed a glass of wine, I had a beer, and both were discounted. We shared the surf and turf (ahi and filet), which was excellent, along with the flatbread pizza. The clam chowder was one of the highlights--a huge bowl loaded with real clams. We finished the evening with fried ice cream and an espresso, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The service was outstanding. Every person we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Overall, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Great food, great drinks, outstanding service, and one of the best outdoor dining atmospheres in Ventura County. We'll definitely be back.

It's a real struggle to get another round of drinks after your first one at this bar. Maybe it's…read morebecause we're not locals that they know? We've been in a few times now, and we want to like the place, but the service is lacking. Edited to add context - we sat for a good 15-20 minutes with empty plates and glasses before finally getting follow-up from the bartender but by then we just wanted to leave and asked for our check. It wasn't busy, we watched other customers getting follow-up service right next to us while we were ignored. We've both worked in restaurants, we go out regularly, we're not fussy or demanding - we understand how the business works and what it's like when you're slammed - that wasn't the case. It was pretty quiet in there, a Friday afternoon with a few other customers, there wasn't a rush, but there were several employees around the bar area, which seems to be the norm, which is fine, but you might think that one of them would notice the people with the empty plates and glasses and do something about it. And the same thing happened the last time we were in, with the same bartender, but we thought maybe it was an off day, so we gave him a pass - it happens. But now it's happened again, and this time it was worse - last time we waited but not as long and eventually got another round. This time? It seems like a pattern. And it's not just on the one bartender - plenty of other staff was around, including the owner who went behind the bar to make a drink, and the marketing person who stopped to visit with the people next to us. It would have been nice if one of them noticed our empty dishes and either asked if we needed anything or reminded the bartender that we were there. We felt invisible. We were in restaurant purgatory. I wasn't even sure how we were going to get our check. I literally said to my husband that we could walk out and they wouldn't even notice (we would never but it's probably true). It was weird. We likely won't be back, but please try to do better on the follow-up with others, we just wanted another round.

If you know anything about Gunsmoke BBQ and Beer in Santa Paula, you know their barbecue already…read morehas a solid reputation....but finally making it into their restaurant just confirmed everything I'd been hearing. I've had the chance to try their BBQ at local events around Ventura County, and it always left an impression. They make some darn good BBQ. BUT for this visit we ended up highlighting something just as exciting...their vegetarian options! It definitely says a lot when a barbecue place has great non meat options. I came with my friend Raquel (yelp elite) for lunch and we went all in on their vegetarian plates...well with one exception, we ordered the deviled eggs too. Let's start there: Their famous Candied Bacon Deviled Eggs are a must. Creamy, flavorful filling, lightly battered egg, topped with crispy bacon...yeah, they're as good as they sound. 10/10. Now for the vegetarian standouts: The Fried Avocado Bites were simple but done so right. Perfectly fried and paired with house made sauces that really brought everything together. Super shareable and perfect as a starter. 10/10. The Cauliflower Tacos were a reminder that you absolutely do NOT need meat for a great taco. These were hearty and loaded with (again) incredible sauces. My friend was obsessed and I get why. They were good, but I would prefer a meat protein taco at a spot like this. 7/10 for me. Beyond the food, the experience really shines here. The space has this perfect mix of country charm and rock n roll edge which is such a fun vibe. Service was top notch, and we love when owners are present and genuinely care. They stopped by to check in, which always makes a place feel extra special. And shoutout to our server Bentley, an absolute sweetheart. Next time you're in Santa Paula, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Gunsmoke is located in Downtown Santa Paula. I didn't pay close attention but I don't believe they have private parking. If you don't know SP, there is street parking and some parking lots. I would be mindful when you are planning to come for parking. I came with a friend midday so there was plenty of parking and seats as well so we got seated right away. I was happy to see the non meat options they have available. I was a bit bummed out they didn't have their hummus but it's just another excuse for me to go back. I did end up getting their cauliflower tacos. My friend got their avocado fries and their devil eggs. I had never had devil eggs, and tried those and were so good. I wanted more but I had already had all my tacos. I did appreciate the owner coming to greet us and finding out I was pescatarian. He was nice, mentioned that even though they are a BBQ spot, they still want to value those customers that don't eat, and asked if there's anything I think of to let him know to see if they can add it to the menu. Really appreciated that. Overall, bummed out I wasn't able to try their BBQ. The options I did try were all really good. I would come back.
