This is a very good place! From the summit burger to the chicken strips basket to the tater tots to the onion rings to the strawberry milkshake, everything we had was just perfect! Service was quick, polite, and efficient, and the indoor seating was perfect for this hot day, although the outside seating is quite nice, too! With the outside seating, it's beautiful because you are looking at the trees that are on highway 150. Overall, outstanding place and I will be back! read more

The Summit remains my go-to place when I crave a good burger. Thick patties, expertly grilled. There is a wide selection, the eponymous Summit Burger being one of my favorites. But the one I really love is the Firehouse Burger, named after the nearby VCFD Summit Station. Jalapeños and crispy bacon give it a great zing! Yum, just thinking about it has made me hungry! read more

The food is amazing I live in San Bernardino and if I'm going up north I always stop the burgers are fresh and very tasty and the hand made milkshakes are to die for the peanut butter chocolate milk shake is bomb the service is amazing and if it's not packed you get served quick and the area is beautiful you get to enjoy nature while you eat amazing foood read more

Can't believe I've lived in the area for 15 years and have never stopped. A perfect place to grab lunch before heading to the trendy and pricey restaurants in ojai. Super friendly, casual spot with great eats. I got the pulled pork on tots - melt in your mouth with hot and crispy taters. They made an off menu coffee shake to go with. We were camping at the Ventura KOA. We got to go food from the summit. I got the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and it was awesome. If I lived closer, I would get it every time. It's very meat had a lot of flavor and there was a good ratio of onions and peppers on top. One of the kids got chicken tenders. They were pretty good someone else burger that was very good juicy and I like their buns and we tried the patty melt I would order that one again also. Is a solid place to eat! read more

When you think of drive in this is it! The Summit is a beautiful location on top of the Ojai Valley. In addition to great views, this place cooks up some delicious pit stop food. Not sure what to order, the specials menu glared at me. The days special was tri tip sandwich with grilled onions and bbq. They had a handful of other items as well. Due to the colder temperatures, I ordered a hot chocolate to go with it. The tri tip was cooked well with lots of flavor. Surprisingly to me the best part was the perfectly grilled onions which provided a nice crunch and sweetness. My hot chocolate tasted fresh and not out of a packet. For the price you can't go wrong here. read more

They were just ok, nothing special and the kids running it were a bit all over the place but it was a fun experience especially with the local kids doing wheelies back and forth as they drove back and forth past the restaurant. The Summit has been on my list of places to visit ever since I "discovered " it, and I have no idea how that happened but I'm really glad it did. It's a long way away but my blushing bride and I found ourselves in the area yesterday and were ready to eat lunch... how's that for a coincidence??? The menu is a varied enough to make anyone happy. We ordered a patty melt (me) and coke, grilled chicken sandwich and s'mor Shake (my blushing bride), and tater tots to share. The crew was friendly and efficient. All seemed very much made to order so it was all hot and fresh. The beverages were cold and refreshing. All of the food was fresh, really tasty and well-seasoned. The patio seating was comfortable. Went here on a whim while visiting from out of town. I had the corn burritos (taquitos) and my girlfriend had the summit burger (lettuce wrapped) with tater tots. Corn burritos were a 7 out of 10. The sauce is tasty, but does taste a bit like marinara sauce. The blue corn burritos are better than the regular option. Loaded with cheese on top and sauce. Nice for a quick bite. Lettuce wrapped burger was a 7 out of 10. Little skimpy on the meat, if you're asking me - which in a Yelp review, I guess you are SO, little skimpy on the meat. Lettuce wrapped option is appreciated, lots and lots and lots of lettuce. Tater tots were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Only complaint is the price. Cost us $30 for the items mentioned above and 2 sodies (sodas). read more

A locals-only spot serving up breakfast burritos and burgers, etc. The Tri Tip Burrito is awesome, with lots of steak bits and fluffy eggs and cheese. A classic Summit Burger has a juicy patty with a slice of cheddar, pickles and some sauce. They usually don't do morning Milkshakes, but they did indulged that day and it was awesome! No frills, but it's the best in the "casual-fun" category. Great for groups, great for to-go, just great for having any meal at all. read more

Great food. Love the outdoor seating. Even though they are located right on the highway, it still has that mountain feeling. I had the burger with fries and a coke. Great stop for good food. We had the blue corn tortilla with black beans, so good called a burrito on the menu but was an awesome taquito. My husband had the Summit Burger which he said was great. My son had the pattymelt with Mac&Cheese bites. Food was fresh and a great place to sit outside and enjoy the family with a great lunch. We ate everything before we thought of taking pictures. read more

Bomb little burger spot in a beautiful setting. I definitely recommend adding bacon to your burger it was thick and crispy. The malt shakes are so fresh and smooth after a nice long hike. I wanted more but I had already had all my tacos. I did appreciate the owner coming to greet us and finding out I was pescatarian. The neighborhood seems safe enough and parking is sometimes an issue, the lot is small but there's room on the street. They do have a restroom around the back of the building you'll need to ask for access to, fairly clean for what it is. The chili fries aren't anything special, the fry's in general are just ok - the burgers are really good though. In all, we'll try a few more dishes but again, pricey to come here so keep that in mind. I'm all for supporting small business over a chain any day of the week.

Edited to add context - we sat for a good 15-20 minutes with empty plates and glasses before finally getting follow-up from the bartender but by then we just wanted to leave and asked for our check. It wasn't busy, we watched other customers getting follow-up service right next to us while we were ignored. We've both worked in restaurants, we go out regularly, we're not fussy or demanding - we understand how the business works and what it's like when you're slammed - that wasn't the case. It was pretty quiet in there, a Friday afternoon with a few other customers, there wasn't a rush, but there were several employees around the bar area, which seems to be the norm, which is fine, but you might think that one of them would notice the people with the empty plates and glasses and do something about it. And the same thing happened the last time we were in, with the same bartender, but we thought maybe it was an off day, so we gave him a pass - it happens. But now it's happened again, and this time it was worse - last time we waited but not as long and eventually got another round. This time? It seems like a pattern. And it's not just on the one bartender - plenty of other staff was around, including the owner who went behind the bar to make a drink, and the marketing person who stopped to visit with the people next to us. It would have been nice if one of them noticed our empty dishes and either asked if we needed anything or reminded the bartender that we were there. We felt invisible. We were in restaurant purgatory. I wasn't even sure how we were going to get our check. I literally said to my husband that we could walk out and they wouldn't even notice (we would never but it's probably true). It was weird. We likely won't be back, but please try to do better on the follow-up with others, we just wanted another round.
