The food was amazing, loved my turkey club. My husband got "The summit" burger that he always enjoys (the classic). My little ones enjoyed and shared a large chicken tenders basket, great portion size. The Italian sodas, any flavor a hit ! Not happy with the service, the only reason I will hesitate to go back, very unfortunate.

Stopped in for our favorite milk shake on a sunny California day. Always a nice stop while out and about.

Ask the Community - The Summit Drive-In

Do they offer a vegan burger like a Beyond burger or any other vegan options?

The Summit offers a vegetarian burger option, don't know what brand it is. The corn burritos are great, and made with vegetarian refried beans.

That's why this place is a go-to for the local crowd.

I loved the caesar salad and the onion rings. The tacos and chips were the bomb as well. The cookie with ice cream dessert was an incredible surprise. The menu description did not do it justice. Like any solo diner, I sat at the bar and had the best time chatting with strangers and Andy (bartender and curator of sorts). - thanks for the company! The setting is intimate and can get busy, but thankfully, I came in during the tail end of the season which was still lively but no wait! I wanted a little bit of everything so I ordered the half dozen oysters, uni with roe, Japanese sweet potatoes, hangar steak, and mushroom ice cream to top it all off. I truly have no notes! Both the oysters and uni were fresh and delectable, the Japanese sweet potato was unlike anything I've had before - decadent, if you will, the hangar steak was cooked to perfection and savory, and the mushroom ice cream was reminiscent of maple - so so good! All of this cost me a pretty penny, but totally worth it!

We arrived around 5:40 pm on a Saturday without a reservation and were first on the walk-in waitlist. We waited roughly an hour before receiving a text that our table was ready, which felt pretty reasonable considering how popular the restaurant is. Once seated, the service was amazing. Our server was attentive, checked on us frequently, and was very helpful in explaining the menu. I also mentioned a food allergy, and she made a point to reassure me that everything had been taken care of, which I really appreciated. Our food also came out relatively quickly. We ordered the Tuna Tartare Tartine, Aguachile, Japanese Sweet Potato, and Hanger Steak. Everything was delicious, but the Tuna Tartare Tartine and Hanger Steak were the standouts for me. Both were especially flavorful and memorable. We also tried the Pavlova for dessert. It was probably the weakest part of the meal for me, but the passionfruit flavor was still interesting and I'm glad we tried it. If you're coming without a reservation, I'd recommend arriving as close to opening as possible to get a better spot on the waitlist. The nice part is that they text you when your table is ready, so there are plenty of nearby shops and a park to walk around while you wait. There's free street parking around the restaurant, and we also found a nearby public lot within a short walk. Overall, Rory's Place was definitely worth the visit to Ojai, and I'd happily come back.

Prior to coming in I had tried their beans tacos dorados (tres taquitos) and their chilaquiles. Tacos were okay. I felt like there wasn't that many beans inside. Chilaquiles were delicious. I live close but by the time they got to me, the tortilla was not as crunchy anymore. Still enjoyed them. When I went in, got the chilaquiles again since I wanted to eat them fresh. Even better. Loved the sauce and how crunchy they were. I did get the red ones. They are a bit spicy for those who don't like spice. I have really liked that they use black beans instead of pinto beans. Their red rice has always been nice an fluffy. Another time I went I tried their quesobirria shrimp tacos. They are tied for my all time favorite spicy shrimp tacos. They were so good. The chipotle sauce you do to add to it was delicious. Overall, I love Cocina 1912. Love that it's so close to me and how delicious the food is. Cocina 1912 is located in downtown Santa Paula and was easy to find. Large signage outside and plenty of 2-hour parking out front and across the street. This restaurant is surprisingly large. Not only do they have the regular dining area but they also have an attached second room for dining and a larger event space. This space can be rented out for markets, parties - you name it. Would make a great music space too. Another standout here is the staff and the hospitality. The young gal working behind the counter was super nice and welcoming. She helped us with the menu and on deciding what to order. What I also love is even though it's an "order at the counter place", the staff were attentive to come over to our take multiple times to check on us. Talk about A+ service and care. This alone would keep me coming back. Thankfully, the food is equally as good and tasty! We started with a Jamaica drink which was refreshing and hit the spot. For our mains I ordered the Al pastor tacos and my friend went with the shrimp tacos that were made queso birria style. Lastly, I ordered a side of rice and means. Everything was tasty and satisfying! The tortillas are freshly made each day and you could really taste it. The Al pastor and sides were about a 4/5. Not the best I've had but totally satisfied my craving and I'd get them again. The real star of the show was the shrimp tacos! My friend let me try some and I was blown away by the freshness of the shrimp and thought it was a delicious dish. Very spicy though so I know I can't hang lol. Regardless though I loved them, so if you can handle spice and love a good shrimp taco, you absolutely must get these. Such a solid experience here and a fun time with my friend. We'll definitely be back!

I heard they serve Bravery Brewing beer so I ordered the Rocktoberfest. Still one of my favs! I told Amber that I would be ordering a few items and will be needing to-go boxes to bring home to my Mom (sharing food is my love language). Here's what I ordered: -Pepper Jack Mac & Cheese bites with their homemade ranch -Ahi Tuna sliders -Cubano with homemade chips accompanied by their homemade pepper jack queso dip -Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding -Pepperoni pizza - to go The Mac & Cheese bites were crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. The inside had a sharpness to it, I'm assuming from a cheese they used. They were even better dipped in their homemade ranch. Do not leave without trying it!!! Ahi Tuna sliders. You guys.. don't walk, RUN to try these! I think my eyes rolled back in my head when I took my first bite. The tuna was tender, the slaw was crunchy, creamy and citrusy with a slight sweetness. The bun was soft and slightly sweet as well, and the fact that it was toasted, added a nice texture. I'd eat these breakfast, lunch and dinner. And probably for dessert, don't judge me. The Cubano was fantastic! I'm hoping I heard Neil correctly but they marinate the pork in a homemade mojo sauce. That was incredible! The bread was nicely toasted, the ham was smoky, the fontina cheese added a nutty, buttery flavor along with the balance from the crunchy pickles and acidity from the mustard. And the homemade chips with the pepper Jack queso were amazing! The perfect crunch and crispness, salted well and dipped in the creamy queso that had a hint of spice. Oh lawd! Absolute happiness Neil Behrman, the chef, was kind enough to come out and introduce himself. I was lucky enough to have a conversation with him where we shared about our love of cooking, I got to hear about how became a chef, about his Italian grandmother, where he's worked, and how food feeds our soul. I did try one bite from the chocolate croissant bread pudding and oh man, the ooey gooey buttery chocolatey goodness is amazing! FYI.. Both my parents loved and raved about the food! Dad's favs: pizza and chips. Mom's favs: EVERYTHING! Lol!
