I used to work at this location several years ago. As far as Best Buy's go - this is a nice one. Think big - has a Magnolia Theatre center. Has like a 40 foot projection TV in back. In general Best buy is not cheap. Its convenient. Its built for people who need help choosing what they are goig to buy. If you know what your needs are but dont know anything about products - this is your place. if your super tech savvy and are good at research - this is probably not the place for you. Let the soccer moms and the business exec's buy their stuff here and you should probably shop online and self install. The Downside is that if you screw it up - its not covered by anyone. The geek squad is pretty good here. Some of them look a little glazed but a pretty good group in general. read more

Not this store, but Best Buy in General I have a fraud case ($400+ delivering to TX and CA but I live in Alaska) and their investigation and CSR team is the most incompetent people ever responding to this. Taking them 2+ months. I have the exact address and time and date that these transactions happened but they still want me to front partial cost for it. I explained I haven't made a purchase from Best Buy or use the card for since June which I paid off that month, and the fraud occurred in August. Still, they sent me a new card that I never received (in September) I told them I never received it, and they sent me a new card and I haven't received that either. Each time I contact them they make a new "case" I guess, because I called for a follow up in September and October, and they can only tell me that I reported it on the date I called in for updates. Like WHAT? Can we please go look back and look at my actual account history. On top of this, they want to lower my credit limit, because I refuse to pay off something that I reported as fraud. How is it that Hotmail and Apple can see my IP and location when I login or make any kind of transaction but Best Buy cannot see that I obviously don't live in 3 different states at once? How is it that Best Buy and Citibank wants me to pay for part of something, when I was the one who got robbed? I am writing a review everywhere because that is terrible business. read more

This is only for the service I received a couple of months ago. I really wanted an auto-start, but I didn't want to plunk down hundreds of dollars for a super-fancy-schmancy Viper remote start with a 10-mile range. I went in a couple times to check things out, and while it was I M P O S S I B L E to flag ANYONE down to help me, I finally managed to get someone who was helpful. The prices in-store do not reflect the prices online (they were a little higher) which irked me, but honestly, it was still a really good deal. I got the one-way auto-start for $180, including installation. The guys who helped me out were super friendly and great. When I scheduled my appointment, the guy said it'd be a two week wait. I must have looked sad, because then he quickly added, "But if you can bring it in by tomorrow at 8am, we can have it done by noon." Sign me up! I had papers to grade, anyway. So I drop it off (and this was before they even opened on a Saturday) and walked over to a coffee shop to get work done. I got a call when they encountered an issue, but offered some advice if the installation didn't work. I told them to go ahead and do it anyway. By 10am, it was installed, working, and boy was I excited. They did a great job, and even pointed out some unrelated issues they noticed in my car, haha. I appreciated they noted something wrong and told me about it. While I wish I saved up for a more expensive, higher-range auto-start, this still does the trick. They even made my power locks remote-friendly, which I didn't have before. I received two keypads, and the buttons have worn down on one a little bit (but that's obviously the construction of the equipment, and not BB's fault). Knock on wood, this keeps on working. I was really happy with the service I got from the car and audio department there. I have been recommending this to all of my friends, and two ended up going there shortly after I told them about it. This is definitely a hidden gem in the world of auto-starts, especially since other places in town charge soooooo much. read more

When I first walked into this store I naturally expected to be greeted, as that is how my Best Buy works at home. That being said, lets just say that my first impression of this store wasnt on the high end of the scale. BUT! The lady in the camera was awesome. What made this trip worth making was simply to have a good learning experience about cameras from a friendly and knowledgable staff member from Best Buy :) My dad and I walked out of the store without a camera but she had us convinced! If it wasnt for me bringing up the fact that we hadnt talked to mom about it dad would have purchased the camera for sure. Having staff that knows what they are doing and what they are selling really makes a store look good. When we walked out it looked like the guy in the front was texting. I said thank you/bye to him and he lifted his head up for about half a second to throw in a mumbly "have a nice day" before looking back down. If it wasnt for him I would have given this Best Buy 5 stars. Regardless, I was impressed and a little smarter walking out. read more

I finally approached an employee and he showed me the smallest selection of what I was looking for and then totally disappeared. I also was looking for a case for my phone but apparently unless you have an iphone they don't care about you. I walked over to the Samsung both and the woman there looked like she was absolutely miserable. So miserable she could barely keep her head up and made no effort to greet anyone in her section. We got some amazing deals on our appliances during the thanksgiving week. Think we saved about 2400$.. Can't beat that. If I could give a zero, I would. Mark Kastens, a manager, skirted my complaint emails and phone calls -- communications that he asked for. He will not return my calls or emails. He supervised a wrong charge for a service from the Geek Squad that ended up, in total, costing me over $300. (I called the contractor directly for the last piece of installation, to be fair and $135 of that $300 was for that service call. At that point I'd given up on hearing back from Best Buy and just needed to get things done.) The store (Mark) told me installation by Geek Squad would be $49.99. Terrible customer service response to a legitimate complaint. Cowardly avoidance or just plain no customer care. read more

I've been a few times and found everything adequate from variety to pricing. I just found this out today. You can request a price match from the online store and if it's cheaper they will honor it. I needed a new screen protector for my phone and it was $25.99 at the store and $15.99 online. Holla! One gripe are the customer service reps at the door. They will tell you the general direction of the item but they won't step away from that little podium, they will make big waving motions and say keep going. Geez... I recently purchased a cell phone(yes I am a tried and true flip phone guy ala Raymond Reddington) through the Best Buy site and had it delivered at no extra cost to my home. Apparently since it was shipped from out of state the SIM card was not correct for my carrier so they recommended I return it to the local store (Dimond for me) and have it replaced with a new phone with the correct SIM card The exchange went seamlessly with an excellent young woman at the return counter taking care of the issue. It took the storeroom a bit to find the correct phone so the young woman offered me a chair while I was waiting(I have had recent back surgery and standing for any length of time is still uncomfortable). I took the phone home to activate it and darned if it was not the same problem, I inquired if it was possible to change SIM cards and to my dismay that was not possible. So back to Best Buy the next day, the same young woman was at the return desk, remembered me and said "this one didn't work either ??"--then cheerfully processed the second return in two minutes and I was on my way. She did offer to work with me on a new smart phone but I am still a hold out for my style. Maybe later when my current dinosaur gives up the ghost. I dropped my tablet a few days ago. So I came back to Best Buy to get a new one. Jerret was super helpful. After leaving, I realized this tablet did not have the data capability of my old tablet. So I returned and Jerrett explained the new tablet selection very well. Again, I left satisfied. This morning, I tried to set up my tablet only to find the screen blinking. Tablet would not turn off. I put it back in the box, went to work, made it back to Best Buy, and found Jerrett. He pushed the button and the darn thing turned on. The store in itself is ok--most of the time you are able to find someone fairly knowledgeable to help with a purchase. But I'm aiming this review at the Geek Squad, which is entirely incompetent. We had 2 laptops that crashed within 2 yrs of each other, and each time we were told the motherboard was fried and we needed to buy a new one. The second time we were told this, we decided to take the laptop back as-is and try for a second opinion, since it was running with only minor issues. Well lo and behold, it turned out whatever cleaning/shifting of parts that they did when they opened it up fixed whatever was wrong with it purely by accident. My guess is "motherboard" is their fallback when they have no idea what is wrong. Customer drops $400-500 and a new motherboard always=a machine that works again. I was stuck going to this store for years when I lived in Anchorage. I like the people, the deals & the selection for the most part. The store is always clean & organized. But their Geek Squad is a nightmare, I can't stand them! I've used Geek Squad here several times, as well as in other Best Buys around the Western US, & never like them! The ones in Anchorage are a joke. I can't believe they are in charge of anything technical, they're screw ups! I wish I had better things to say about them, but I just don't. The employee named Andrew who said he was the Acting Manager at the store is a rude monster who will verbally attack you instead of trying to help correct the mistakes made by his stores stereo installer, not once but twice. They installed the stereo system incorrectly the first time, so we brought it back to get it done correctly, or so we thought. It wasn't fixed. Twice they've tried to correct their installation mistake and twice they've only managed to accomplish incompetence. On the third visit to try and get it installed correctly I was attacked by their manager. Andrew is the rudest manager I've ever met. I have to say this was the first time I've ever been attacked by a manager instead of helped. Zero customer service skills. We will not shop at Best Buy ever again. read more

I purchased laptops and external cd disc drives for two of my high school granddaughters. The cd disc drives didn't work for them so I took them back to this store. I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the very gracious manner the associates assisted me in the return. A manager from the IT products came and took me to the products I was looking to replace and advised me about the best "plug and play" drives, which I selected, and then showed me other accessories I asked about and then purchased. I left there extremely satisfied and will definitely go back for any products we need in future. They seem to really care about getting the customer service experience done right. read more

BEWARE!!!! Bait and switch!!!I've been to Best Buy's in locations all over the United States and Best Buy anchorage off dimond is consistent with one thing... very poor customer service. Consistently, prices on the shelves do not match prices at the register. Bait and switch here is the name of the game. 1st time 1 experienced this at this location we were purchasing a computer. At the register they told us, after over an hour of picking everything out with a salesperson that they had ran out of stock but would happily sell us the next best computer (for $200 more!). The second time (I know, my bad for going back) I visited the store I was purchasing a new cell phone. They helped me right up until 10 minutes before store closing when the salesperson announced that they couldn't complete the transaction because he was "off" in 10 minutes and didn't have time. Today (the final straw) I went there to purchase a small tv and blue ray player for our rv. The tv on the shelf was marked at $99.99. At the register it rang up $139.99. You would think that the manager would do the right thing and do a price adjustment (in my experience, any other BB store manager would have) but they insisted that if I wanted it it would be the full price. If this had happened once I would chalk it up to a mistake... 3 times in a row... this place is just a joke!!!! Take your business elsewhere. Don't even waste your time here. read more

I had to stop in twice just to get help with what I was purchasing. The employees there have very little knowledge about what they're selling so they can't recommend the best products for your needs. I wasted so much time trying to ask questions but I ended up having to google everything instead. I knocked on the geek squad door and told them I'd like to talk to someone who actually knows a thing or two about what I'd like to purchase and the guy in there was happy to help. I had to schedule an install appt that was a month out just for them to call me on the day of my appt to reschedule. The only open spot was an hour away or a month away so since I didn't want to wait another month I chose the 10am slot. I've dropped a lot of money at this Best Buy and now will have to spend even more money on Uber Fares due their lack of knowledgeable geek squad employees. One is sick so everyone's appointments change. I was offered no compensation for the extra money I'll have to spend on Uber fares to get back to work. It's just a pain in the arse and the manager there was not sympathetic at all. read more

I just drove to the South Anchorage Best Buy to get service on a computer I bought there only find out since I purchased it you need to make a reservation. I get up to the counter and they were so busy one Geek Squad agent was flirting with security and the other was playing games on his phone. I could see the reservation board once I was there and it looked like the last few didn't show. I was told it would several days before they could see my computer because they were too busy just then and the reservation that was already 30 min late might still show up. We were not informed of the change to make reservations prior to bringing the broken in What ever happened to customer service? It's below zero outside and loading up everything only to be told I will need to do it all again in a few days is truly poor service when they are sitting there playing around. Daniel was the tech pointed out to me, so I waited until Daniel deigned to acknowledge my presence, at which I was told, "it is a USB-C plug, wait there", to which he flapped his hand at the end of the counter. I waited 16 (yes, 16), minutes while Daniel played with his computer. I finally told Daniel, "I can see you are really busy, is this something I could find?" He replied, "it's on the other side of that rack", and pointed to the rack not 15 feet from him. I walked there, and yup, there was the correct charger. If you feel like being abused so you can spend your hard earned money, this is the place to go. I did speak to the manager, but it was the usual, "oh I'm sorry, I will deal with it..." I tried to buy a drum machine from here and had a bad experience. The sales guy didn't know the first thing about them, and when I had questions directed me to a computer to look it up. That was fine, I got the answers I wanted. After talking with him for 20 minutes I finally decided I wanted the machine. Then he tells me the display is the last one they had. He explained that unless it was damaged they would not discount it one cent. Store policy. You could see that something sticky had gotten on the display and I really didn't want to pay full price for it. Finally, after 10 more minutes he said he could take 10% off (what happened to store policy?). That was fine, at this point I just wanted to leave with it. He then tells me the display is under lock and key and he cannot open it. I waited for 5 minutes while he searched for a manager. He came back and said they had gone home and no one else has the key. I wasted nearly 40 minutes just to leave empty handed. To his credit, the salesmen felt genuinely bad about it. Best Buy not only needs to provide training in the musical instrument department for employees, but they also need to make a key available at all hours. They lost my business as I purchased one elsewhere. read more
