Don't do business with Best Buy Geek Squad if you can possibly avoid it. Twice in the last five months I've been burned. The first time I went to Best Buy in Apple Valley with an appointment to have the battery changed on my iPhone. I got there and they said they wouldn't change the battery if it wasn't under 80%. It was exactly 80% and I was going to Mexico for six weeks. I wanted to make sure it didn't fail when I was out of the country. No help. Too bad they didn't say that on their website. So today, Sunday, May 20, I make an appointment to have the battery changed on my wife's iPhone that is at 77%. I get to the store in Apple Valley Minnesota and they tell me it's a six to seven hour wait because they sent everything to the Eagan store. They told me I could drive up there and make an appointment there. Why would I drive all the way to the Apple Valley store only to be told that I should really be dealing with the Eagan store? When I questioned the Geek Squad manager and the building manager, they were nicely apologetic but of no help whatsoever. When I told him the information needed to make the information more clear on the appointment website, they both agreed. Apparently I am not the first person to show up only to be told that even with the appointment, they couldn't really help. Little wonder Best Buy is in a tailspin. Not ever going to deal with them again. I will go to Apple for repairs or buy things on Amazon. Best Buy has become an antiquated dinosaur of ineptness. Avoid it at all costs!! read more

We had a great experience at Best Buy. We preordered speaker wire harness to pick up. When we walked in an associate asked us if they could help us right when we walked through the door. We conveniently picked up our wires and were out the door with the quickness. We got our wires home and they weren't fitting our speakers correctly. We called the car installation at Best Buy to ask about our problem. The gentleman we spoke with was very helpful and told us to bring the wires in and he would attach a different part to the wire so we could install our speakers. We brought the speaker and wires in and he replaced the wrong pieces free of charge. Thank you for your help Best Buy! read more

When I talked to customer service, they were supposed to reimburse me the money back since I had to have somebody else haul it away and give me a $20 gift card. I only got the $20 gift card. Avoid this place like a freaking plague. Came in here once to buy a home theater receiver. The sales idiot I got stuck with tried to sell me something completely different despite having what I wanted in stock (albeit in a back room which is why I ended up talking to the guy in the first place). Basically told me "You'll never need 7.1, ever", "You'll never need video upscaling". This was before he even asked my why I needed those things. When told that the upscaling was because my xBox only had component outputs he "assured" me (if that's even the word for it) that I had no idea what I was talking about, and that every xBox ever made had HDMI outputs. He said that he had been in the Army so he knew this for a fact (apparently the Army's job is to verify xBox outputs?). When I tried to correct him on that, he got very argumentative, telling me that I hadn't checked behind the "secret plastic cover" on the back of the xBox. I tried to wrap my head around why this guy couldn't get it through his that I was not at all interested in the crap he was trying to sell me. In the end it came down to commission. The receiver I wanted had gone on sale for about $100 off the original price. The receiver he was trying to sell me had absolutely NONE of the features I was looking for (I'm not even sure how this was possible) but it WAS about a $100 more than the one I was looking for. And perhaps he was motivated by laziness too. The receiver he was trying to sell me was literally boxed up and ready to go on the shelf next to us, whereas the one I wanted would have required him to walk about fifty feet to the stock area. Long story short, you can occasionally get a deal at Best Buy. Just don't let the salespeople try to talk you into something else because they WILL try. For those of you not yet in the know, they also profile their customers into various customer "types". They even have names for them i.e. the "Jill" customer - the stereotypical soccer mom who you can sell anything to with enough convincing. Posters with descriptions of these customer types are kept in the back employee areas so the staff can narrow down their already limited customer service skills. By the way, trying to find something that's on sale classifies you as a "devil" customer. Try that on for size. In the end, if someone tries hassling you, either save yourself the money and go someplace else, or ask to speak to another salesperson who can get you what you're actually looking for. read more

Bought a washer last Nov and had nothing but problem, violence vibration when washing tried leveling and balancing but nothing worked. Call Samsung and they couldn't help except for us to bring it back to BBY for exchange. Truth is I don't care to spend any penny on Samsung appliance ever again. BBY customer Social media service got me in touch with Greg at AV BBY and he was able to get me a new LG machine deliver to swap out my crappy Samsung washer in 3 days!! Couldn't be happier with Greg! Best customer service and truly stand by BBY products and helped us pick a similar color to match, LG with true balance, cost slightly more but hey I can finally do laundry!! Next remodeling for my kitchen - Greg will be our man!! Anyone looking for appliances ask for Greg the manager is the appliance section and say he got best service ever!! Right off the bat, the manager Buck comes up to me inches away from my face NOT following the 6ft away rule stating that there were 2 people in front of me and asks me what I'm in line for. I told him I have warranty for a screen protector. He says "well it might be a bit since the customers in front of you are buying new phones. So not sure if you want to come back another time." I continue to sit in line since I'm not going to expose myself in a store a second time later since I'm already there and my brother is buying an expensive graphics card there. Anyhow. Sat in line for 30 min to get my screen replaced in the middle of a pandemic. They told me they wouldnt replace my screen even though it was on file that I got it which is supposed to be warranty. Matt spoke with Buck the manager and they said they wouldnt do it. I have a credit card through best buy and have been a valued customer through them and cant believe they wouldnt accommodate this when it's on file that I bought it especially after sitting in line during a pandemic for a long time. I threw the screen protector away since it was all sticky and disgusting and they told me to dig it out of the trash which I'm not even sure if I have now. It cost me close to 50.00 for that protector and it's just really upsetting that I have to go back and put my mom at risk again (who lives with me) to try to dig out a disgusting protector screen since they wouldnt accommodate the replacement and go back to best buy to do this all over again. I recently went to buy a 15" MacBook Pro and after clarifying and charging us for the 15" version, the very loud and annoying worker proceeded to sell us the 13" version which we noticed once getting home and unboxing it. Now today going back to both return it and get a case for the 15" they informed us that they did have the right case for it in the back as it had just gotten delivered however they could not find it as they had, yes, lost their cases. Employees have no idea how to help a customer. Just looking for a simple cord for headphones and every person I asked just pointed across to the store to the only other employee they could see and assured me that they would know. Next employee does the same thing sends me to otherside to the next employee and then he just points and sends me back to the first employee I spoke with and that's when he informs me that they don't carry the product I am searching for. So basically had me do a hot lap around their store for absolutely no reason at all. You need to train your employees. The stores only job is to sell electronics and accessories for them. I recently bought a nice Samsung washer and dryer from the Best Buy in Apple Valley, MN. I went there because of their competitive prices, and after reading their online reviews of the products I needed. Another huge factor was their very reasonable financing program. I proceeded to purchase the wrong dryer... electric instead of gas, I know dumb, but I just bought my townhome and assumed it was electric. When the delivery and installation men came they said I had a problem and I went into the store to try to resolve it. I decided to upgrade to the gas dryer, since installing the electric wiring would have been time consuming, and the install on the gas version would be easier. The appliance manager at this store went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. My return/refund, new purchase and delivery were quick and easy. I will definately buy from this store again when I need my next major appliance! Great customer service! read more

In the past year, I've gone to this specific Best Buy 3 times. The first time to buy a desktop computer and my husband and I stood around for 45 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We knew what we wanted, but had a couple questions we wanted answered, not to mention... we needed someone's help to get the dang thing. After that experience, I swore I'd never go back. Well, now we're in need of a laptop so I went back during my lunch yesterday, mainly because of the convenience. Needless to say, I again stood around for 20+ minutes and finally left. I knew exactly what I wanted, just needed some help getting it. I gave them ANOTHER chance and we went back yesterday evening, thinking maybe they had more staff to help. Well, once again, we stood their for god only knows how long without anyone batting an eye. I was fed up, so we left and I will NEVER be returning to this store.
