This store is awful. No stock, poor customer service. Not the first time this was a disappointing experience at this location.

Bought a Samsung TV at the Bloomington store yesterday. I specifically asked the sales rep if the tv would download the Acorn Tv app. Was assured that it would. But, of course, after getting tv home and trying several times to download it, I called Samsung. They were extremely helpful and worked with me to resolve problem. Was finally told that Samsung did not support this app and that I will have to continue to use my Roku device in order to receive Acorn. I was told by the sales rep that I would no longer need Roku as I could access through the Smart Hub. After repeatedly trying to call the Bloomington store, I was told the store was closed (although I knew it was open), I would need to make an appointment with tech support, etc., etc. Never did get to talk to a REAL person. Will think long and hard about ever buying from Best Buy again. First of all, sales rep didn't know what he was talking about, and secondly, there was no way to access a real person to talk to. I bought a smart tv here. 13 months later the panel went bad and the picture went out. It was a bad component determined by a licensed tv repair shop. I went back to the store to see what they could do. The "kid" in the tv department asked if I had bought the 12 month warranty (irrelevant). He then went on to tell me I'm out of luck; without making a phone call or talking to a manager. He then went on to inform me of the new models available, and to come on back and he could sell me a new one!!! My tv was new! It was 13 months old!! I have a 15 year old zenith I bought in college in my basement that works fine!! Terrible customer service. Zero respect. I will never purchase anything or step foot in another Best Buy again in my life. I will urge all my family and friends to do the same. read more

The best buy website claimed that this store had a copy of the CD Rush: Gold, which is 2-disc best of kind if CD by the band Rush. I drove 50 minutes. Their in-store computers claimed they had two copies. I couldn't find them. They couldn't find them. CD racks were a mess. Two-plus hours of my life I can't get back and wasted gas and wear and tear on my car. It used to be a good store. It was a barren wasteland in there. Minimal staffing. Not good help. Don't waste your time. They could order it for me and have it in a week. Sorry. Amazon prime and I'll have it in two days. Should have done that first. read more

Where else can you go in Peoria when you need a new car stereo? Circuit City is gone, and Sound of Peoria is looking for just high end clients. Guys in the shop and in the store did a great job, which you just don't expect at a big box retailer. read more

The WORST customer service ever!!! Never had a harder time buying an appliance, totally ridiculous and unacceptable. Wasted 2 1/2hours of my time. Found another store that was more than happy to take my money. Will never shop Best Buy again!! read more

The store itself is ok. I hate that they rearrange everything once a year. But my main issue with the place is there "Geek Squad." The Geek Squad is by far my worst experience in retail/tech support. It all began with a bogus warranty that the computer sales department sold me. They said that my laptop battery would go bad in a year, and i could come in to replace it no questions asked. So a year later my laptop battery was bad and my laptop was not running well. So i thought it was a perfect time to use my expensive warranty and have them fix it all up. The geek squad told me the battery was fine and didn't need to be replaced. And as far as fixing the slowness of the computer, they did a system restore that erased years of school work and years of pictures, music, and home videos. I did give them permission to do this but ONLY because they told me they would back up all of those files and put them back on the computer after it was restored. All of the priceless pictures and videos were gone forever however. They also used the wrong restore disc on my computer which presented a whole new set of problems that i spend the next few weeks fixing on my own. As if this entire disaster wasn't enough, they charged me $80 to erase all my memories, jack up my computer even more, and refuse to give me my promised battery!!! If i were only rating the Geek Squad it would obviously be as bad of a rating as possible, but other than there warranty scams i don't have much against the actual best buy store itself and thats why the rating squeaks by with 2 stars. read more

I went looking for a simple power cord for a Samsung computer monitor, I talked to a sales associate and a Geek Squad member. They were both oblivious as to what I was looking for. after about 20 minutes of frustration I left and went to Walmart. I found what I was looking for and was in and out in about 10 minutes. If I could give zero stars I would! I had a non electronic item to return to the store. Only to find they have a 15 day return policy!! 15 days!! I was a couple days past their policy and they would only allow me to have store credit. I was irritated and decided that I might as well spend the credit now. I walked back to the Apple Watch area to purchase a new band. Unfortunately, their stock of items is not much better than their policy. They had very few Apple Watch bands to choose from. I left with my awesome Best Buy credit in hand. Buyer beware...there is a reason they won't be in business much longer!! read more

I would love to give this place a 5th star but I can't. They have taken care of me with every issue I have ever had. Troy is the best manager I have ever dealt with at any store. The reason I can't give them the 5th star is because of the 3rd party installation company they use to install dishwashers. That company made fun of my son who has special needs. If they would cancel their contract with that company I would totally give this place 5 stars and wouldn't have a single complaint. read more

Took my laptop to Geek Squad. Geek said I needed to purchase their $199 24/7 tech support for them to look at it and/or fix it. If I didn't want to pay the $199 maybe I should just buy a new one. So he takes me over to sales to sell me a new one. I asked another tech support company in town about the computer and they fixed it for $65. What should have been a pleasant experience at Best Buy felt like a shake down. read more

I have always trusted best buy as I have previously purchased laptops at the Normal location. A few weeks ago I walked into best buy looking for a laptop for the upcoming semester and the salesman lied to me. He stated that my laptop would run fast and has been very popular lately. After getting it home, the driver crashed and upon further research I learned that the laptop came out over 5 years ago. I was not happy with my purchase and called back for advice on how to return the item with a full refund but they said word for word, "oh sorry, it's past your 14 days, there's nothing we can do. I will think twice before purchasing laptops at this location again. read more

We stopped by to upgrade the phones 5-24. Alec was very helpful. However, due to Verizon website being down, we had to go home to wait for the call when it's up again. I called a couple times before it was up again. We went back for the second time, it was somewhat okay. We spent about half a day there. We went home and found out that the phones were not working right. The store was closed. Waited the next day which was a holiday. I rushed to the Verizon store and found out it would take a day or two to transfer the line. Then the volume buttons were not working right. Had to go back to Best Buy to exchange the phone out due to the defect. Waited at least 45 min. or longer. They finally exchanged the phone. The lady who helped me was very nice. Went home to setup everything and downloaded all my apps. Got it to work and the battery charged to 99% and got hot. I was not going to wait to see if it is a lemon. Went back to Best Buy and waited for another hour. Finally got to a lady who said to the manager that I exchanged it for the third time. So they tried to give me the run around and said they are out of the phones! Really????? They said that it will take a few days to ship to the store from another store or something. After I insisted that they helped me, for a magical reason, there is a gold one if I wanted that! No! I do not want a gold one!!!!! They told me to go to the mall. She called the store and they had four. I decided it would be faster to go to the mall than stick around for another half day not getting anywhere with these people! They held a phone for me, I was there for awhile because they had to do the paperwork again and transferred everything. There was three people including the manager working at the mall and they had quite a few customers. I found that they work so efficiently that I regret not going there in the first place. No wonder my friend said he stopped buying at Best Buy anymore because there is no customer service and they do not stand behind their product! read more

I'll partially recount my last bad experience with the Geek Squad, although there was another last year. On October 9th I checked-in an old computer for analysis as it was running slow. I was told the computer hard drive is failing. Best Buy doesn't carry the replacement hard drive needed for the laptop. So I purchased a new hard drive on-line, the squad installed it, and then informed me that the new hard drive is defective. I mailed the hard drive back to the retailer, he tested the hard drive and found it to be perfectly good. Being focused on customer service he sent me a new hard drive and refunded the purchase price and mailing costs. I then checked-in the laptop to have this new hard drive installed. Not hearing any status update on the service I checked on-line to find notification that the service had been completed four days previously. I returned to Best Buy to pick-up the computer and was informed that the work had not been done because they did not have a good Vista operating system disk. I said the website shows the status as completed and it is not, and was told the status would be corrected and updated which it never was. I asked what to do next and was informed that the squad would order a new Vista operating system disk and try again. They also told me to buy a new computer, I responded by saying I didn't buy this service for this kind of advice. Not hearing anything again, I called the store and they said they could not get the Vista operating system loaded because of the age of the computer and that I should work with Gateway to resolve the problem. I picked-up the computer today with the new hard drive installed but no operating system. I said "of what use is this laptop to me"? The squad then said I could leave it with them for a few more days and and they would re-install the old drive. I said no thanks I have already wasted a month of my time. Upon check-in I had informed the squad that the lever used to open the laptop top was loose and cautioned them be careful. I probably don't need to tell you the lever is now missing. I was questioned (make that insulted) as to weather the lever was broken or missing when the laptop was checked-in. The squad then told me I could open the computer with a screwdriver since the lever is now missing, not sure that's of much help since the laptop has no operating system. So for $200 I have been insulted, been advised to buy a new laptop rather than repair it, been advised to work with manufacturer to resolve the problem, exchanged numerous emails and mailing with a hard drive supplier, and own a laptop with no operating system that I can open with a screwdriver. I have purchased laptops, desktops, and high end cameras from Best Buy over the year but I am done thanks to the squad. This is the short version. read more
