I was having a bit of a day. You see my brand new air conditioner broke so I took my brand new Lenovo computer to a Bucktown coffee shop to look for a new job...because my new job...broke...and then my new computer...broke. So I googled the nearest Geek Squad and headed to Elston. I should have gotten the specialist's name. He was youngish...mid-twenties is my guess. He has dark black hair, black framed glasses and was wearing a sweatshirt (it was cold in the store!) . He went out of his way to explain that I had neglected Lenovo updates and my computer had simply crashed. He carefully explained how to fix the problem and sent me on my way. He was so kind and he didn't have to help me, I didn't have an appointment and he and his colleague were very busy. And it was a problem that was not a testament of his talents I'm sure. I had a really good experience at this Best Buy. It could be that I arrived to the store shortly after it opened so there weren't a lot of customers, but I got the feeling it might've been the same even if I arrived later. I went in to get a HDMI multi monitor adapter to connect two external monitors to my laptop and a surge protector. The guy who helped me was also training someone so maybe he was being extra cautious and patient in answering my many questions but nonetheless he did assist me and help me get my computer accessories. When I got to the counter to check out I noticed the surge protector rang up $10.00 higher than the price tag. I went back and took a picture to show the cashier. She also pulled up the item on her phone and the price that came up was correct. She explained that they made a mistake in placing the item in the wrong spot and she could call a manager. She then showed me some other options that were cheaper. At that point I explained more about what I was looking for and we found a different surge protector that suited my computer adapters better. Instead of me having to go back and pick it off the shelf, she called someone to bring it to us. It saved me time of not having to go back to the aisle and find someone else to help me. Overall I was pleased with the customer service. The store was clean and they had a lot of product in the store from TVs to large and small appliances. I recently purchased a 14TB hard drive that failed less than a week of ownership. I walked into the Bucktown BestBuy on Elston and told the young lady I needed an exchange. I informed her of the situation and asked "is there a way you can swap what's on the old hard drive onto the new one, I don't have a way to move 10 TB from one to another"? I had a picture of the error I was receiving and I tried to have as much information as possible. She assumed I was out of the 14-day return policy before looking into my receipt. After looking at my receipt he said let me go talk to my supervisor. She returns quickly telling me it would cost $200 to move data or I can purchase a plan. I decided to go a different route but I was still unhappy with the level of customer service I received. I didn't expect to get anything done for free but I felt like I was being treated as if I was in a used car dealership. I walked to retrieve my replacement to the checkout line supervisor. Arial approached I can see her face she was going to be combative. I told her I was extremely unhappy with the level of service I was provided. She went off on a tangent, her voice got shaky and her she turned it into a show telling nothing is free and then I was challenging her integrity. An African-American gentleman from security started recording me with his phone thinking I wouldn't notice. BEST BUY ' I received a product that was faulty. I contacted customer service via chat. I was offered a tracking number and return label and promised that I would be getting a new product that was not faulty. There was no confirmation email about this, but only, a label. Anyway, I returned them, they were received (I track EVERYthing), and never heard back. So I finally called and spoke with a rep, who apologised and sent me follow-up email with confirmation that my product would be exchanged, as well as another several days later saying that if my item isnt in stock by 29 December, I would receive a full refund. Today is the 21st, and I received an email stating they were Happy to informe me (wtf??) that the case was closed (wasnt aware I had a case, as no number was given) and that I would not be receiving an exchange. There was. No information as to why, and no words referencing refund. I called them today, got passed over to the refund department, was hung up on as I was trying to give her my phone number (no harsh words or information had even been spoken by me), and when I called back, the person on the other end simply stopped speaking, and I was not disconnected. I kept saying hello hello hello, and nothing. And no, my phone wasnt on mute. So I go onto chat support, and the person told me that my item cannot be exchanged as it was past the time limit and told me it was being returned (new information entirely, and inconsistent with two reps mentioned above). When I pointed this out to him, there was no explanation as to why. So he said the item was being returned to me. Again, that information was not in the email I received today. So naturally, I asked for a tracking. I copied it onto my tracking app, but wasnt sure if they were zeros or the letter Os. I asked him this several times, and he never replied. Then, he gave me a completely different tracking number claiming it was for the return back to me, and guess what? It was the tracking number for my return of the product to THEM! When I pointed this out to him, he simply gave me a link, which then, supposedly took me to the tracking of the item now being returned to me, the faulty item, I will remind. Now, I am on with his supervisorI should, at very least, get a partial refund. What am I supposed to do with a faulty item? It isnt my responsibility that nobody told me it was too late to return it! The item, in case anyone needs warning, were a MISMATCHED set of refurbished Airpod pro second generation. I suggest not buying refurbished. The supervisor just told me that I should go to my nearest Best Buy to see what the manager can do for me! I'm an IT guy. I didn't have any particular issue with Best Buy, prior to this incident. On September 26, I ordered a laptop for delivery on September 28, $1003. On October 2, after not receiving the product, I was told I could get a refund, and chose that option. That evening, I got an email from Best Buy, saying the product would arrive on October 4. When I contacted them on October 5 (no laptop), I was told it would be October 11. At that point, I again demanded a refund, as they had lost their own package. They just kept saying "this has been forwarded to the review department". Today, October 17, NINETEEN DAYS LATER, they sent us an email, saying our refund will go through within 10 days. My household has been struggling with which way to go with the internet router/modem/extender for a long time. We were unsure what was worth investing in and what wasn't. Check this display out, it's the best one they have right now! Every corner we turned, a staff member was there to assist us. This might seem like an overly persistent act to some, but it showed me that every staff member cares. There is no harm in telling them that you are just looking! On 9/2 I placed a curbside pickup order for a Dyson Airwrap Complete - a 550 dollar hairdryer that straightens, dries and curls hair. Even though I had a few hundred dollars in Amazon gift cards I was apprehensive to make such an expensive purchase online and decided to make the purchase from a retail store I thought I knew and trusted. I picked up the Dyson and had used the product for approximately two weeks before realizing that I needed to register the product with Dyson to receive the 2 year manufacturer's warranty. When I went to register the product I had purchased from the 814 Bucktown store, I noticed that the serial number on the product itself did not match the serial number that was on both the box and the warranty card. Relieved that I purchased the product from a physical store and not an online retailer I went back to the Bucktown store around 4pm today to make the exchange. After explaining the issue with the mismatched serial numbers to customer service, Zack told me he would need a supervisors override to make the exchange. After 20 minutes of waiting, David was the supervisor who came back. Upon arrival he immediately told us that there was nothing he could do due to the fact that the serial numbers did not match and that there is no way that he sold it to us like that. There was no apology or empathy that a mix up may have happened with the manufacturer and it was no longer his problem but ours. My partner and I were clearly visibly upset after hearing this news that there was nothing that he could do because I had intentionally purchased the product from a physical Best Buy store to avoid something like this from happening. When we asked to speak to someone above him to see if they could process the exchange we were approached by Ariel with the same accusatory "nothing we can do for you" attitude. Again, no sorry, no sympathy or no help with a solution for us. In fact, she was threatening to kick us out of the store for being visibly upset as we should have been because I spent 600 dollars with tax on a product that I couldn't even register with the manufacturer for a warranty. We were then told to call Best Buy corporate since there was no one in the store who could resolve our issue. I just got off the phone with them an hour and 45 minutes later and after speaking to four different people I still don't have a way to exchange the product. I was given a case number and was told that a call center supervisor should be returning my call tomorrow after the only advice given was to try to take it back to another Best Buy store and hope for the best. I'm really disappointed and appalled by the customer service we received at this Bucktown location by both David and Ariel. I will be waiting for corporate or for the general manager of this store to contact me and resolve what should have been a simple exchange at customer service. **Update** After not being able to resolve the issue through Best Buy, I contacted Dyson. Dyson confirmed the serial number on the product I received in the box from this store is likely counterfeit and I'll need to drive out to their service center in Schaumburg to have the product inspected. Best Buy sold me a fake Dyson most likely through another customer's return and the company won't take any action. You know what's sad? I bet if Amazon sold me a counterfeit item and I reported it, it would have been much easier to exchange. Can't wait to dispute this with my credit card company and never shop at Best Buy again! Best Buy for Appliances? The first, and most pertinent question would be, "Why"? Why would anyone subject themselves to the utter chaos? Let's start with the order process. When you buy a stackable washer dryer, shouldn't the sales person ask if you need a pedestal if using side by side or the stack kit if you are stacking? Abt asks this every single time. Best Buy didn't. How about asking about the other items you might also need? New hoses, flexible or non flexible vent tube? What about installation? Do you need or have the 110 and the 220 power or do you need someone to install this for you? Abt asks this every single time. Then the driver arrives but when told to pull around back to the loading dock, leaves. Gone. Didn't come back. This had to not only be rescheduled, but the driver (Best Buy uses 3rd party companies for delivery) lied and said they waited at the dock. I offered to send Best Buy a video time stamp of the building's dock area but they told me not to bother. The stacking kit they tried selling me for a GE Washer/Dryer combo was for a Samsung. The person on the phone said it's all the same because the dimensions work. I explained that there are holes in the unit that are pre-drilled and the stacking kit needs to line up with those holes.
