I've been a loyal Best Buy customer for over 20 years, but this particular location gave me the worst experience I've ever had with the company. I came in to purchase a camera and had to wait over 30 minutes just to get help. Eventually, I spoke with the assistant manager (JD), who pitched me a deal: if I opened a Best Buy credit card, I'd receive 18 months of financing and 15% cashback. It sounded like a great offer -- good enough that I decided to also buy a laptop I had been considering. The next day, a friend told me that the promotion doesn't work that way -- it's either financing or cashback, not both. I did my own research, called Best Buy, and confirmed that the offer was misrepresented. Customer service told me I'd have to go back to the store to resolve it. When I did, I was basically told it was my fault for misunderstanding, and JD denied ever saying what he said. No accountability. No solution. Just denial and deflection. This felt like a bait-and-switch to get me to sign up for a store credit card under false information. Whether it was a misunderstanding or intentional, it's unacceptable -- especially coming from management. I'm sharing this so others don't fall for the same thing. Double-check the terms yourself and don't rely on what you're told in-store. read more

Three and half stars. I bought Insignia fridge. Five stars for fridge. Three stars for delivery. The two men barely spoke English. I asked the one who spoke more English about the disconnection of shutoff valve for water line. I didn't want water leaking on floor. He said it was ok. After they left I turned on faucet in kitchen -- and water leaked onto floor! I could not get a human at Best Buy to help. Luckily a handyman in my building saved the day. I recommend if BB uses a third party to deliver and install -- that the workers be able to explain how shutoff water value works. read more

Every time I've needed last minute to pick up something electronic from here, I've been surprised by how expensive it is. This includes the female employee who wears her name tag backwards and won't tell you hern name - the rude manager Sean who mocked the inflection of my voice. I was 3 days late to return a sealed, new-in-boxed item. Company policy states, "Store managers have discretion to accept returns beyond the policy window, especially if the product is still sealed and in resalable condition. " His response: "I have the discretion of saying no, and I feel like saying no." They deserve to treat members better, especially those who pay the steep annual Geek Squad fee. Additional: If you've exceeded the 60-day return window as a My Best Buy Plus or Total member, your options for returning the sealed item are limited, but there are still steps you can take: 1. Visit a Best Buy Store in Person Bring the unopened item along with your original receipt to a local Best Buy store. While the standard return period has passed, store managers have discretion to accept returns beyond the policy window, especially if the product is still sealed and in resalable condition. Purchased a washer dryer on Black Friday. Installer came out and didn't install because he was too big and the space was tight. Coordinating between the customer service and the store is a disaster. Neither follows through. My installation is now deferred for more than a week and the original installer left the units in the middle of my living room, uninstalled. Forget trying to communicateW with the store or Cust service. They pretty much feed you a line of BS and ignore your concerns and issues. read more

I've been to this bestbuy 100s of times, always great service, but on this particular day CJ helped me out, i was being slightly ignored at the geek squad area for my simple charger question, so when I went to the return area I asked him for help, not only did he have answers and suggestions on how to handle the situation he walked to geek squad spoke on my behalf retrieved information on my product and walked me over to the chargers section and pointed out the ones he personally uses, so I bought both!! I will never do business with Best Buy again. They have chosen to remove all of the phones from all of their stores. You cannot get in touch with anybody. You are put on a phone tree and you will be on it for 45 minutes and then they will just kick you right out of it if there isn't an agent to pick up your call. They try to do things by chat, which is a complete failure. My time is too valuable to have things scheduled by automated computers and then the people don't even show up to do the job you were scheduled for. Do not shop at Best Buy. The 4 times I've been there it is always empty and someone gets kicked out. Today it was my turn. Went in to request a power cord that was not provided with the dishwasher best buy replaced for me. I placed the repair request on the 28th of December and just received a replacement yesterday and that too without a power cord. Went to the Geek Squad to get the screen on my IPhone 16 Pro Max fixed. Geek looked at my phone and was like "hmm idk if we have that screen here since it's so new." He goes away for a while and comes back and takes my phone, tells me it'll be 3 hours. I come back and see my phone has a new screen, but a new guy tells me something happened, wouldn't tell me what exactly, he was super vague, and that I would need to come back again when they ordered a new screen. I believe that they lied to me and put some random screen on my phone and not the approved apple screen. So now I have to come back for an additional two hours or else my phone could have further damages. Also on the phone another geek had said that "they made a mistake and need to fix it" So I'm hearing different things and I'm pissed. Anyway, don't come here to get anything fixed, just go to Apple. read more

Today I was super impressed with the service and care received at Best Buy on North Avenue in Chicago. I was helping a fellow elder transition into a newer laptop and we met with a great guy, Eren, earlier in the week. What a treat to find such a conscientious guy who was patient, not pushy, not trying to oversell my friend, and spent at least 40 minutes with us. Today was the same, and better yet, within hours they had completed the data transfer and set up from her old desktop system! Eren deserves an award as he could not have treated us better! read more

Came to this location today to buy a speaker and the service by the employees on duty around 3pm was terrible. Waiting for help, nobody came. Went to ask someone and they said to go and wait back by the speakers and someone will be right over. I stood there for 20 minutes and nobody came. Instead, they were all busy chatting and joking with each other. It wasn't even busy. After 20 minutes I walked over to the checkout and they said "someone will help you by the speakers". I told them I'd already been waiting close to 30 minutes. Eventually someone went to get the speaker for me so I could leave. Employees in this location are the worst in Chicago. read more

This review is for the delivery and installation of a new stacked washer/dryer unit. I purchased online and did everything listed to prep for the install, including having my plumber install a new gas shutoff valve and check the water valves. Best Buy shows up a few days later and refuses to install (or even just deliver) my new w/d. They claimed my water shutoff valves were corroded and weren't working properly. When I pointed out that my plumber was *just* here a few days ago and confirmed everything was ready to go, they just shrugged and continued to refuse to deliver my appliances. It gets worse. When this happens, Best Buy doesn't let you reschedule right away. You have to wait until your appliance is returned to the warehouse and then a new email/text is generated "within 24 hours" that provides a link for rescheduling. This was on a Saturday, so of course a ton of appointments got filled up while I waited. A text finally showed up at 8am Sunday morning, and the soonest I could reschedule for was Thursday morning. When I called to ask if they could come back sooner, they had nothing to offer. One more thing: I could see my box on the truck because I bought a combined washer/dryer. It was leaning precariously on other boxes at a pitched angle, as if it had been left unsecured and was just lolling around in the back of the truck as they went between appointments. This is not what I want to see with a $2500 purchase!! My plumber (different person from the same company) came out AGAIN today and once again confirmed that these water valves are working just fine. I asked if I should preventatively replace them to extend their life, and he didn't even think that was necessary. So why did Best Buy refuse to deliver my w/d and create a huge, potentially expensive headache for me?? My gut tells me the crew just didn't feel like doing their jobs. Wish I could give Best Buy and their lack of customer service ZERO stars. Bought a flat screen tv, had a cracked screen when I opened the box. I wanted to exchange - not return - Best Buy refused. Had an endless stream of excuses, even said the manufacturer doesn't accept returns on their products?? Again said I only wished to exchange, so they pivoted and provided many more excuses. Actually blamed me for not being more attentive to looking for damage to the packaging etc prior to purchasing. I completely understand why Best Buy is not doing well financially and why their reviews are terrible; guessing I'm not the only customer who has had a bad experience. I went to Abt, had an amazing experience - no searching & waiting for assistance in an empty store. My salesperson answered all my questions, provided suggestions for other tvs that would better meet my needs. No hauling my own tv to an empty checkout line to further wait for service. I came to this Best Buy location on 6/13/19 after having a nice dinner nearby. The store was closing soon and I wanted to come in and look at the new Samsung Galaxy S10 phones and the colors they come in. I arrived at 8:42 p.m. and the store closes at 9 p.m. While I was very appreciative of the phone model displays and colors for me to see (my phone carrier only had it shown in black), I was very disappointed in the non-customer service there. I walk in and the male employee standing right at the front didn't speak, he just looked at me. I proceeded to go to the cell phone section. When I arrive, I notice that there is a huge desk with about 4-5 Best Buy employees. Not even one of them came up to me to ask if I needed help or had questions on the phones. I saw which phone I wanted and the color. The Samsung Galaxy S10+ Prism Blue costs $1,000 and I wanted accessories. I bought an appliance suite for my condo for 7800.00. The Best Buy installers damaged the microwave (508.94). They made me buy a replacement, and represented that after the reinstallation I would return the damaged unit. When I tried to return the microwave BB damaged they claimed it was over 15 days and not eligable. i am now 2 months later still fighting this through the Credit Card company. The absolute worst expierience and customer service. Next time I will buy from a local family appliance store, even if I pay more. :( read more

Came here to get the new apple watch and had no idea what I was looking for or the comparison between the different models. We were greeted almost immediately by a nice guy who offered to help us out and show us all the different models. He was very knowledgeable about the apple watch and even showed us cool apps and how to use them on his own. Best part he was completely honest with the comparison of the models telling us what was really the better upgrade in the newer ones but that the older ones although much cheaper and on sale were just as good. We enjoyed his honest and competent help. Definitely made the day by making it super easy for us. He even helped pick out glass screens for the watch and my phone that were best for our buck, and put them on for me. Definitely will be back and hope to run into him again for other electronics in the future! read more

I have to say that I am very dissatisfied with Best Buy! About a month ago or so we purchased appliances and a Google nest Thermostat that Best Buy installed. The thermostat stopped working and they made an appointment with us for two weeks later, my husband and I took the day off and we waited. They were supposed to be here from 7:30am to 11.30am. After an hour of being late we called and were placed on hold spoke to a manager who stated they did not know corporate numbed so they could not give us the information. We had to purchase 2 air conditioners in order for our pet and my husband and I could even sleep . The stores that we called states they do not answer call because they want to focus only on walk ins. I could not believe it, so on line shoppers mean nothing. This month I have tried to call this store 3 different times and waited on hold for more than 20 minutes each time and no one answered the phone. I emailed the store a question about purchasing 4 computers and after 2 days no one has responded. I guess I'll just spend $3k+ somewhere else today. ‍ I have had good experiences ordering items online and receiving notifications of when they are ready for pickup. I've stopped here several times and recently I bought a car receiver for my car since they had free installation at the time. I got the receiver and then scheduled a time for installation. When I arrived for the installation, it got done right and I am happy with the entire store. They have plenty of parking, a lot of cool products and a nice showroom. I am happy that Geek Squad is now an authorized repair shop for Apple. In Apple's service Site, Best Buy's scheduling availability is listed equally to an Apple Store. It's easier to get an appointment here than an Apple Store. It's unfortunate that Apple is not transparent in its parts availability, BUT the young Tech Guy who talked to me was VERY knowledgeable and honest. It is also likely that your repairs will be finished on time. Or, they would know the expected time frame as expected from a professional repair shop. read more

I go here for movies and computer parts sometimes. The place is generally nice, but the security guard was super rude recently and kicked me out for accidentally falling asleep on the demo recliner. He asked if I was on drugs in a kind of condescending tone, even after I explained that I just didn't sleep well the previous night. Plus, he kicked me out during a day where Chicago is listed as having the worst air quality in the world, and as someone with notable lung issues, I explained my issue and asked him if I could stay inside until a ride could pick me up and he refused. Overall, it heavily soured my experience with an otherwise fine store. read more

Bought ActionTec HD Connection Kit $180.00 in December 2018. In March the unit started losing connection approx once every 3weeks. It got progressively worse with time. RCN techies has to be called almost once a week. They came at least 5 times between March and July. Finally in July I had to restart ActinTec every 3 days. This equipment is completely unusable. Now BestBuy REFUSED to return the $180.00 I paid for it. Was told "you may throw it out". BestBuy claims they only accept returns up to 15 days!! This is an equipment that supposed to last. I was there a week ago to buy a tv. After we found what we like a gentleman took us to register to pay while somebody would bring my tv. After we paid he told us that they don't have it but they can deliver it for free in two weeks! When somebody goes to a store to buy something he wants to have it immediately not in two weeks. He then told us it's available in another store. When we asked for a refund to go buy it he told us maybe if we go to the other store might not have it anymore so it's not smart to get a refund!!! I left the store by myself to go pick up our tv at the other location, 40 minutes away, but they couldn't give it to me because they said the order was under my wifes name. My mom had an appointment with the Geek Squad, so while she was with the technician, my son and I wondered around the store. This location is kept very clean and the staff was friendly - for the most part we were left alone to peruse and there were always workers there if we had any questions. I haven't been in a Best Buy in years and this location has lots of electronics: dvds, vacuums, dishwashers, humidifiers, cds, computers, televisions, refrigerators, toys, toothbrushes, and even chips & coffee filters. The Geek Squad technician was friendly and fast with her help. Our appointment didn't take very long (which surprised us) and we left confident that the computer would be fixed, as we were told to wait on a phone call. we were in and out in less than 20 minutes, so I will be back.....I gotta get a new tv read more

They wouldn't replace it. it was sent back to KY for over six weeks. They returned it to me in a gar bage back (they don't have boxes) with a dead charging cable.
