I purchased a Samsung 83" S90D OLED TV (model QN83S90DAEXZA) from Best Buy for approximately $3,299. After only about 18 months of normal household use, the television completely failed and will no longer turn on. I went to the Best Buy store and they were no help. Told me to call Samsung. Best Buy's Geek Squad examined the TV and told me that the television was bad and not repairable. I then contacted Samsung hoping that the company would stand behind a premium television that failed after such a short period of time. Samsung declined to provide any assistance because the TV was outside its one-year warranty. I was also told that because the television had been examined by Geek Squad, which Samsung said was not an authorized Samsung third-party service provider, Samsung would do nothing. I understand that the written warranty is one year. However, I do not believe it is reasonable for a $3,299 premium television to become unusable after only 18 months. I expected considerably better product reliability and customer support from Samsung. I have purchased expensive electronics for many years and generally have not purchased extended warranties because I expect a premium product from a major manufacturer to last substantially longer than 18 months. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this Samsung television or Best Buy. Before spending several thousand dollars on a premium Samsung TV, buyers should understand that if it fails shortly after the one-year warranty expires, they may be left with an expensive television that cannot be repaired and little assistance from the manufacturer or Best Buy. read more

Terrible customer service. You have many options out there for electronics - shop elsewhere. Purchased a laptop computer in January 2025 for my daughter. The keyboard broke in November. She took it to Best Buy in December and they turned her away saying it was "junk" and could not be repaired. Less than 1 year old Chromebook. She was at college at that time so she was not with my husband or I and unfortunately was taken advantage of and did not ask further questions. Scheduled a geek squad appointment today in Downingtown which we have paid for the service membership for years. They too refuse to repair the computer now saying the purchased warranty has since expired. I was told that ONLY REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY ARE DONE. It was NOT expired when she first attempted to have it serviced and was turned away. NOW - we are told there is no choice but to purchase a brand new computer refusing to credit us any money for her current computer and will not honor the warranty even though this was not presented as an option while the warranty was current. We worked with store manager Mike Purcell, Geek squad agent Bagdan Pricop and store manager Jenn Setiz who wouldn't speak to me on the phone and has yet to return a message. Don't purchase here - they wouldn't even offer a discount when I said we would purchase a new computer if needed. We have purchased all our computers here for years...3 in the last 14 months. It turned out, however, to be an older-generation model with limited performance life, though none of that was disclosed at the time of sale. Within 11 months of normal use, the computer slowed to a crawl and froze constantly. Geek Squad told me the machine is: --Not broken --Not repairable --Not upgradeable --And not eligible for refund or exchange In other words: the hardware was simply too outdated to keep up with everyday 2025 software -- something I wish had been explained before I bought it. After looking into it, I discovered this isn't just my story. Best Buy sells millions of computers each year. Even if only a small percentage of these are older-generation machines sold as "new," the number of people affected could be very large. Based on industry estimates and Best Buy's own public sales numbers: The average shopper has about a 1 in 10 chance of purchasing an older-generation computer without being told. And about a 1 in 20 to 1 in 30 chance of ending up in the same "no remedy" loophole I'm in -- where the machine becomes unusable in under a year, but the customer is told it's "not broken," so there's nothing Best Buy can do. Multiply those odds by the millions of computers sold annually, and you're talking about tens or even hundreds of thousands of customers potentially caught in the same bind. I wanted to buy a new phone. The phone I wanted wasn't charged. The young woman I talked with was nice but not knowledgeable and had to call a supervisor to get info. I was given a price but didn't buy since I wanted to look at the charged phone first. The next day I was told the previous price was no good and it was $100 more. Then she added the tax and gave me a total price; however it did not include all the other costs like activation fee. She then said they charge another $40 to transfer the data "unless" I had a $178 "membership". So I never got the full price to buy a new phone and they lost a $800+ sale. This is by far the WORST store I've ever been to. Their "new devices" are just old models and their brand name "best buy" is in of itself not true. And their service desk? Unhelpful. My computer broke so I took it to their store, there was no mention of a price and even when I asked they said there wouldn't be a price for them to just LOOK at the device. We agreed to have it sent in and so they did, we got a call from them a few days later saying that it needed to be replaced because the motherboard no longer works. Wow, I certainly experienced a complete opposite of these reviews. I bought a laptop and a desktop. The sales guy were great. He listened to our description of what we needed in a computer and did not try to over sell us. A midrange HP laptop for my wife and a "just below gaming" machine for me. Checking out was a bit of a chore with many add on options, some of which we needed, some we didn't. Again, no hard sell. Then off to the Geek Squad. We brought in our old machines and they transferred everything plus added the new software. You do have to leave the machines for a day or so for this service. All good. Friendly, professional and clearly sharp on these crazy machines. I've been back once with questions on Windows 11. Jackson and Rich both were very helpful. Purchased TV on Aug 15th. Delivery, set up and haul away scheduled for Aug 16th. Billed $1500. Today is Aug 17th, no TV, set up, haul away. Called customer service Aug 16th, 7:15pm and was told they were 15 minutes away. Delivery never happened. However, I have been charged $1500 on my credit card. Called for a refund and was told I have to wait 8 hours for the system to update before they can do anything. Mean while, they have my money and I have NOTHING FROM THEM! If I could rate the Best Buy store in Downingtown, PA as well as their management team and customer support which is in Manilla, Philippines , I would do so. My wife and I subscribed to their Greek Squad Service out of the Downingtown, Pennsylvania store over a year ago and just renewed the Total Tech service that gives 24/7 service. I scheduled an appointment to go down there and diligently kept it. Standing in line at the store, I saw the Geek Squad representative "blow off" the previous two customers standing in front of me. When I came to the representative, who said he has been working 10-hour shifts for a week, I was initially very polite and provided him with the information for my appointment. It was obvious to me that he was not familiar with the terminal he was working on nor, where to check. When I gave him the appropriate information, he still proceeded to tell me that it would cost me $225 dollars for the service of my laptop even though the Total Tech service covers such needs. After giving him time to find the account and subscription, I grew frustrated to the point where I turned around, noticed employees standing around with nothing to do and shouted, "can anyone get the hell over here and help this guy out for cripes sake? I spend thousands of dollars here and no one knows what they are doing." This was the only way to get help for this overworked and undertrained individual. At that point, a very RUDE and SELF-IMPORTANT person named Jenn who was evidently the acting customer manager came over and said that they cannot help me now after I had made the appointment three days earlier and arrived on time. She proceeded to tell me that SHE would not help me because I was "not calm" To the contrary, I was calm and quietly told her of my predicament where she still proceeded to ask me to leave the store. At that point, seeing this was going nowhere, I left and called Best Buy. Their customer service, which is in Manilla, Philippines was totally useless. Not only was his system not working but he could barely communicate with the customer. All the while in the background they were celebrating for all to hear on the phone their customer service representatives, hitting revenue targets by upselling customers for a service they proclaim to provide but evidently cannot. To summarize, this was a total was of time on my behalf and I am writing this for others who are customers of Best Buy in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and those that would be customers. Recommendation: Take your business elsewhere. Do not believe what they tell you regarding their Geek Squad Total Tech Service, and if perchance you do wander into this store, see if this Jenn person is still a manager for, she ought to be FIRED. Final point, I have asked for the regional manager's name of Best Buy in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware so I can file a formal complaint. And, although it has been a few years since I provided any legal service or advice, I still recall my education and training from law school, and I am so inclined to initiate some class action suit against Best Buy for at least Breach of Contract. If I could give a zero, I would. I will say that I've had good experience in the store. Employees were helpful and friendly, no problems to report. My purchase prior to this one was a large screen tv and sound bar. We joined Total Tech as it was cheaper for delivery of the tv and provided an extended warranty. 2 weeks ago we decided to purchase an elliptical machine. Since we were Total Tech members and would get free delivery and installation, we decided we were going to purchase it through Best Buy. We went to the store, made our selection and scheduled delivery for the following Monday. The following Monday rolls around, we didn't get a call notifying us of our delivery timeframe, but when I looked it up it showed 4:00 - 7:00. We organized our schedule and patiently waited. By 7:00, no one showed up or called. So I tried calling Best Buy. BIG MISTAKE. First call I got through to someone, who put me on hold for 25 minutes and then hung up on me. Second call I got through and was immediately disconnected. Third call I got a new person, re-explained the entire situation and she tried to contact the delivery team to get an ETA. We waited on hold for almost an hour (she was nice and actually checked back in to make sure I knew she was still on hold) and she never got through. At that point, it was easier to reschedule, which of course was another week out to this past Monday. What was interesting is that when I asked how long the installation was going to take - they told me 3 hours. How are delivery drivers showing up at 7:00 at someone's home and staying there 3 hours to put the equipment together???? Of course, this past Monday had the same delivery timeframe (never got notified, just tracked it down in the app myself). By 2:30 I received a call from someone on the delivery team saying it wasn't going to happen today, the driver had an emergency. So now I'm back to square one. I tried using the chat function as I could literally not take hours on the phone again. After being passed around to useless people, I was then told they couldn't handle the reschedule through chat, I would have to call. And calling wouldn't do me any good until the following day as the item still showed out for delivery and wasn't available to be rescheduled. Sigh. I gave up. I called Total Tech and told them the cancel the order, which they were able to do. How is it they were able to cancel an order that was supposedly still showing out for delivery, but couldn't reschedule? The excuses made absolutely no sense. So my order is cancelled after 2 weeks of being jerked around and I'm cancelling my Total Tech "membership" as well. It was useless. Best Buy completely dropped the ball. I purchased a Samsung QLED 4K Q80D from the Lancaster, PA store. It was the last one they had. Got home and discovered screen was cracked. Called Customer Srv and told I could do a direct exchange at the Downingtown, PA Best Buy. 45 minutes out of way and I get the Downingtown Best Buy. Manager Mike refuses to do the exchange after confirming they had 2 in stock. I said do a return and again he refused. He said he could not do either because it was not purchased there and it was damaged. I told him I just bought it an hour ago and what Customer Srv told me. He said there was no note in customer srv and he could not do it. Isn't an item being damaged a reason a return should be done????? No sense, Manager Mike was clearly wrong and incompetent. Checked the Best Buy policy which says a return can be done at any location within 30 days with a receipt. I was closer to 30 minutes with a receipt. Any, I drove all the way back to the Lancaster Store, returned the TV for a refund. Cancelled my free 1 year membership and I am done with Best Buy. One star considering 0 isn't an option for leaving a review. I purchased a laptop at Best Buy Downingtown in May 2018. In June 2019 the fan started making noise so I took my laptop back to Best Buy geek squad since I had the geek squad membership. The representative started up my computer and confirmed that it was indeed a fan issue and sent the laptop out to be repaired. I was notified about 4 days in that The cost was $180. I asked how does this make sense considering I'm a member and I know that the fan cost $20. I was told this is the price of labor. Ok what choice do I have? I picked up the laptop on the appointment date and brought it home and when I went to use it I found that keyboard wasn't responding. Next I noticed that the back of the laptop was not assembled properly. Also I could not get the laptop to hold a charge when I plugged it in. I took it back to Downingtown and no one could explain to me what it happened to my laptop. They said they would ship it overnight but that was almost a week ago and I still have no information on the status of my laptop. Very disappointed in the quality of the service, the cost of the repair, and the lack of follow up from management. It's impossible to get an answer from anyone - only apologies. Our 10 year old daughter is having open heart surgery tomorrow and for the past several months we have been fighting with Best Buy over her laptop, we sent in to be repaired that they lost. she uses this to connect with her friends from school and play games she enjoys- after constantly being told different things, the people at the store handed us a $300 gift card and basically said too bad- which isn't even going to cover half the cost of her exact laptop we will now have to replace. to see this little girl be so upset and constantly think it's coming back, is heartbreaking. she saves photos she takes on the computer, a lot of which are of her dog who passed away recently. We arrived for the appt and after a short wait someone came from the back and asked what the appt was for today. We told him exactly what was put on the form to schedule the appt. He said he would have to see if they have a battery that fits that phone. They did not. We were told he could order one but the phone would have to be left there until the battery arrived Monday. One, why wasn't the inventory checked before scheduling an appt for a battery replacement which could have saved us an unnecessary trip to the store. Two, why would they need to keep the phone for two days while waiting for the battery to arrive in store? Went to Best Buy on Thursday evening, Sept 14 with the intent to purchase a Refrigerator and a Microwave Oven. The store had One other couple for customers, was virtually empty. After wondering around for about 30 minutes looking and waiting for a sales associate, I had to go to the check out register to ask for the associate working in appliances. Nobody ever showed up, so I went and asked again, and again nobody ever showed up. This was turning into a waste of my time, so I figured that IF someone ever did show up, they would not be capable of answering the questions that I had regarding the appliances, so I decided to leave. On my way out, I asked the same person at checkout to get the manager for me. When he did finally show up, I was told that they were very busy...???? I was in the Downingtown store recently and I left quite disappointed. My daughter and I came in to upgrade our cell phones. We've been doing this through Best Buy for years. It took about 10 minutes to get somebody to wait on us. The young man who was helping us may have been new; I'm not sure about that. He was the least talkative sales person I've ever met. I'm not sure he was really interested in selling us anything. We picked out phones. There were two left in stock. One was a Verizon phone the other was unlocked. He didn't know if I could add the unlocked phone to my Verizon account or had to pay upfront. He called for help and the person who came said he'd have to go through the sign up process to find out. Well that seemed to be a pain, so we opted for different phones. He tried to process our order on one store computer. There was something wrong with that one. Same guy comes back to help. We have to move to another store computer and start the whole process again. The customer touch pad doesn't work on that one. We move to a third computer at customer check out. Mind you, each time we move, I have to get another text from our cell provider to confirm. This one doesn't work either. He moves us to a 4th computer. We've now been here for an hour and a half. My daughter and I had had enough. We told the guy to forget about it and we left. I probably would have had a little more patience if the guy who appeared to be a manager hung around more and helped the guy. And maybe if sales associate was a little more outgoing I would have understood. No-one seemed interested in my business. It is a bit alarming that a store that is known for selling computers doesn't have working store computers. Too bad for Best Buy. read more

Needed the battery in my iPhone replaced. Made the Geek Squad/Best Buy appointment a couple weeks in advance, which required providing info on my iPhone model (SE 1st Gen). As soon as I got in line at Geek Squad, I experienced a sinking feeling. They were clearly understaffed. Running way behind on appointments -- they got to me 40 minutes late. And the customers all looked agitated, like the Geek Squad was uniformly disappointing them. Which turned out to be right on the money. After taking my phone into the back room for a few minutes, the Geek Squad agent told me, "Sorry, sir, but we don't have the parts to replace your battery." Well, why didn't they tell me that two weeks ago when I made the appointment specifically to replace the battery for an iPhone SE (1st Gen)? Why didn't Geek Squad order the parts in advance so they'd be ready when I came in? Why make me come to the store and wait 40 minutes, only to learn had Geek Squad wasted my time? A business that is properly managed wouldn't do that to customers. The Downingtown Geek Squad at Best Buy is not properly managed. Indeed, it looks like it's barely managed at all.
