Went into this place a few weeks ago to inquire about computer building questions. The staff that helped me were very knowledgeable and friendly people. When I came to computer building and certain parts they knew exactly what they were talking about and if they didn't they researched it before concluding my inquiry. At the time when I went the store wasn't that full. What I mean by that is there were not a lot of people there. The options that were given to me were clear and straight to the point. I had plenty of options for what I was looking for for my computer or future computers. The overall quality and cost seem to be reasonable. If you ever have questions on computers and are looking at anything relating to building or repairing a computer this team did a pretty good job. read more

I purchased a stainless steel gas stove from Best Buy and had the worst outcome that was not taken care of. Spoke with Tia at 1pm 3/13/25, and told her about the stainless stove being cancelled and it stated it wasn't available but I went on the website the exact same day and it's available for the price of $1367.99 when I originally bought it on 2/10/25 it was on sale for $849.00. A month later on 3/12/25, it was supposed to be delivered on 3/29/25. I receive a email stating that my order was cancelled due to availability. I went on the Best Buy website the same day as the email from my exact order of the stove I purchased and it was still available but wouldn't be delivered until 4/29/25 for the price of $1367.99. Tia stated a supervisor is the only one that can override this situation and stated a supervisor would be calling me in about an hour. I never received the call. I get home later on and called Best Buy (around 5:06pm 3/13/25) again and gave them the case number. When I gave the case number to the next representative, he stated there wasn't anything in the notes which Tia stated she left them. I had to tell him everything again. We spoke for 15 mins on and off and then was told I would be speaking with a supervisor and they would speak with me. 20 mins goes by the representative checks in a few times and then after that he checks in at the 46 minute mark. He was really being polite and doing a good job for the most part but the service and frustration from Best Buy is overwhelming with dealing with all these things. The representative asks me at this point that it might be longer and I tell him I've already waited since the 15 min mark and it's 46 mins mark now. I told him I would wait. As I write this and I'm still on hold for the supervisor, it's now at the 50 min mark. There is no telling what the outcome is going to be but I feel Best Buy needs to honor this sale. There is no reason why they charge my Best Buy credit card and wait a month to cancel the order. All that needed to be done was contact me to see if I would like to be refunded or wait till 4/29/25 when the order would be delivered (which is what the website states and Tia stated earlier when on the phone with her). I spoke to a supervisor after being on the phone for 1 hour and 10 mins. The supervisor stated she is very sorry but is unable to honor the $400.00 difference even though I bought it and was charged for it. The money is refunded. She stated if I wanted to, I could purchase it again and she would compensate it but it would be no where near the $400.00 savings. She stated it would be a percentage. I told her that is very unprofessional and not on her part but on Best Buy for giving a loyal customer a deal on a stove to just take the deal away and not even have it as a rain check. Mind you the email stated to get the area ready for the stove to be delivered and I did just that the day before I received the cancellation notice. She stated there is nothing she can do. She apologized and I told her I would never buy anything from Best Buy again. Mind you I've purchased tv's iPads, air pods, iPhones, Meta oculus VR, gaming computer, and a whirlpool stainless still fridge. To me that's a lot of our hard earned money and I've contributed to Best Buy I feel a great deal. Their hospitality and honor towards their customers is horrible. No customer whether you purchased 1 item or 20 items should ever be treated in this manner. I'm sure it really doesn't matter to them but they definitely lost a loyal customer on this. read more

I am local business who likes to support my community by shopping local. I noticed recently that the service and shopping experience changed at BestBuy store. I went there yesterday to return/exchange the mouse for my PC.....and just learned that is not returnable after 14 day of the purchase. I wasn't aware of this. Last time I purchased Wi-Fi router I head 90 days to return or exchange, so I assumed that at least there will be 30 day return window. I would have been ok with this if I would have known this at the time of the purchase. There's nowhere written/displayed Return Policy Notice, where people can see and read. It is discreetly printed on purchase receipt which I did not read. To be short and to the point, my personal experience this time around was horrible. read more

I purchased a monitor at the Gurnee BestBuy 5 days ago, decided it was not a good fit. I went to return it today, was told that they were not accepting returns this weekend. I asked for a manager, a black male named Dave came over, wreaking of cigarettes, re-stated that they weren't doing returns. I told him there was no signage stating no returns, he stated it was on the BestBuy website (it was not). I called Corporate, they couldn't understand why they refused a return either. Purchased an iPad and at check out was asked to sign up for the Best Buy membership. They incentivized this offer with a gift card for $200 and the gift would be sent in 7 days. Never received the card. Went to the Gurnee store and spoke to Danny the manager. He told me that could not be. We must have misunderstood. We were told about the incentive by two different sales persons. He refused to accept any accountability and blamed the issue on us. He did nothing to accommodate us as a result of this issue. He was rude, condescending and dismissive. I would suggest you avoid the Gurnee location as they mislead and deceive their customers. Will never purchase another item from Best Buy. Worst experience i am going through right now with them. I placed a 500 dls in store order to ship to my home they used doordashed to deliver the order and order was of course delivered to wrong address and lost or w.e their "customer support team" its no help at all everytime i call they just give me run arounds on whats happening with the claim and not getting any solutions on my money back or the item i paid for already. Would not recommend for you to have orders shipped they use doordash to deliver and doordashed answer was they are only in charge of delivering items even if they deliver to wrong addresss what a fucking joke. Well, I went in about three weeks ago on a Monday afternoon to buy a TV. I had a general idea of what I wanted but had a couple of questions. They had stacks of TV boxes everywhere in the department but I spent literally 20 minutes walking around the TV area without seeing a salesperson anywhere in the area. I had been LOCKED OUT of my desktop computer after I allowed BitDefender to update itself not realizing that it would restart at the Windows SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR sign-in. I had never set up a username/passcode for the SYS ADMIN sign-in ad so I could not get past the gate dragon to the OS to make any changes. I disconnected al the peripherals and drove over the Best Buy Geek Squad for help. Salvador Gonzales - SAL G met me and quickly plugged my small tower in and accessed the Boot and startup for Windows 10. He saw my problem an got his RESCUE boot CD-ROM disc with special tools. Once he was booted up he managed to find and delete the "old" password code for the SYS ADMIN account and inserted a new password I chose. It worked like gang busters. Best of all he didn't charge me single dime for the entire session and fix. I rate this location and Geek Squad team as A+, especially Sal G. gets top marks for humanitarian of the day. read more

Dissatisfied customer - I tried to exchange an Apple Watch purchased before Christmas for a different color - same size and model just different color. I went to the store with the original receipt for an even exchange. The store would not honor the original purchase price even though I was still in the return period. To exchange for a different color I would have to pay the difference in the original purchase price and the current price. The manager said the best he could do was match the current competitor price. Completely ridiculous given we had the original receipt. An even exchange doesn't get more straight forward than this and should be easy to do in retail. It's difficult to comprehend why this was not a reasonable transaction to complete. What a poor excuse for customer service, at least by the Geek Squad. I am one of the Apple product users whose phone is suffering from the now well-known battery drain issue. When I used Apple's website to find a place to have the battery replaced, Best Buy in Gurnee came up as an option with an appointment available later that same evening. Great! We walked into the store at 7:35, just a few minutes before my scheduled appointment. I was directed to the Geek Squad counter, where I was told that they couldn't do the battery replacement because they don't have any of the batteries in stock. If only. Greeter at the front of the store always stops to ask if you need help, but that means nothing when the staff IN the store avoid eye contact, rarely ask if you need help, ignore you, or they just point to the department you're looking for without answering any real questions. Best Buy isn't my go to for appliances but I gave it a shot. Ordered a washer Thursday, delivery was scheduled for the following Tuesday. They come in remove my old washer. Put the new one in, but... it doesn't work so they take it back with them. So the delivery guys say, we're calling the office might be able to get a new one out here today. You'll get a call. No call. So I call Best Buy and they tell me they can't reorder the washer until the return is processed which is 24 hours. The next day I get an email to reschedule my delivery. So I reschedule it for Thursday. I get a call from the Best Buy to service my new washer. Service? I don't have the washer. After five calls, I finally get through to someone at Best Buy for them to tell me my washer is out of stock until December. Clearly, they don't care about customer service in the least. read more

Zero stars. Worst customer service ever. We were the only customers in the store and what we purchased was labeled $19.99 on the shelf but when we checked out it rang up as $59.99. My son had picked it out for his birthday. An associate and I checked the shelf and all of the same item were mispriced but he said a customer probably but it the wrong place even though he looked and there wasn't another place for it on the shelves. There were more employees then customers in the store, why are they socializing with each other instead of making sure everything is properly priced? I spoke to a manager who took a long time confirming that yes it was in the wrong place and working on his computer just to tell us there was nothing he could do. Thanks for wasting my time. I was speaking with a Best Buy representative named Suzie through the store's online chat about putting an item on hold, and they asked for a name, email, and phone number, which I provided. They then asked if I wanted to purchase the item online through a link but I said I would rather do so in-store, and before I ended the conversation they said "rest assured" that the item would be reserved for me to pick up. After a few hours I drove quite a distance to the store the representative specified and according to customer service it was never put on hold. I asked for a manager, and a staff member named Aisia said in a sarcastic tone that "he'll pretend to be the manager" and did not bother to help me with my problem, only told me that the item was not available anywhere else. There were 10 to 15 other staff members in the store at the time with no customers occupying their time and yet none of them bothered to help me look for the product or resolve the issue. I don't typically shop at Best Buy (I find they're crazy expensive), but I needed a cac smart reader and they had them in store since I didn't want to wait for shipping. The place was easy to find with good parking. I was greeted walking in the door and the guy knew exactly were I needed to go to find my item. Once I got over there another employee greeted me and showed me where it was. At which point I told him about how walmart.com sold it for a cheaper price and he matched it. (I didn't know they did this until I read the fine print on the best buy website). He was as friendly as could be and I walked out with my card reader, for $16 cheaper than the original price. Recently I purchased a new phone and came in three weeks later because it was messing up. I was sent to the Samsung specialist and he told me because it wasn't messing up in front of him he couldn't help me. I walked out feeling brushed off and very upset. I went the next day to see the person who sold me my phone and he spent an hour/hour and a half trying to help and find my best options. He's definitely the reason this gets 4 stars instead of 3. I've also had not so pleasant experiences with ordering games etc but anyway. If you wanna feel helped and listened to when it comes to phone things I suggest asking to see Josh in the mobile dept. Just like Patricia, I had a bad experience as well. I will be as brief yet thorough. On Aug. 24, I purchased a Mac Book Pro with the help of friendly sales reps. That is the extent of my positive experience. There was an out of the box error with this product that I paid $1800 for. After troubleshooting it with the Northbrook Apple Store (Genius Bar) techs on two separate occasions and an Apple Care tech by phone for 1.15 hours, the problem still existed. So I brought the Mac back the the store on Sept. 29 asking them to exchange it for a new device. The store manager Scott Wood was unfriendly, passive, smug and uncompromising. He never apologized for my bad experience and would not even consider exchanging the device even when his own Geek Squad tech could not pinpoint the problem in store. Speaking about the cell phone staff....a super bunch of people. Very helpful, even with stuff that to them, are probably stupid questions. While waiting, I have overheard their interactions with other customers and they are a very patient and helpful bunch of people. Buy your phone here and feel at ease. No matter what your problem is or what you can't figure out, just go back to the store and they will set you straight. I, myself, have dealt with Adam and Neal and would highly recommend either of them. 6 months later, am still finding new stuff to do with this smartphone. worst store ever!!!! Purchased a stackable washer/dryer unit Aug 28,2021, first delivery date was a no/show, no call/, no text, nothing. Waited all day. went to the store to complain, asked for store manager, while waiting for store manager, there were 5 employees standing around the appliance counter, this is why they didn't answer my 8 phone calls, (too busy on their cell phones), manager finally came, told him the story, he said, "your right this is terrible customer service"! I can set up another delivery, in a week. delivery came, I asked them to wear shoecovers, that I have new carpet, they said they didn't have any, i said then be very careful of the carpet, by the third stair from ground level, they dragged the unit to which it ripped 4 of my newly carpeted stairs. after the install they left. I started a load of laundry, washer was unbalanced and wouldn't spin, tried the dryer, sounds like bolts flying around, called the Gurnee store, well, now I have to call a different number for service and claims, what a joke, filed a claim, set up yet another, haul away date. they showed up with a full truck, no room for pick up, (I was the first stop of the morning), they called customer service, well, we can reschedule for another pick up date, (still waiting for that phone call), my advice, DO NOT USE BEST BUY FOR ANYTHING!!!!! I went to Grand Appliance in Round Lake, got the same unit, for less, EXCELLENT customer service, NO PROBLEMS. I will ALWAYS USE GRAND APPLIANCE.
