The customer service in the appliance department was outstanding! But the dishwasher sold to me turned out to be refurbished scratched and/or dented. Six dishwashers later I still couldn't get a good one. Please take a pass on buying an appliance here. Even though most of installers were ok, there was one in particular that was terrible. order date: Aug 27 2022. Total $191.82, missing items = $74.88 GII Morningstar Gray Cordless blinds. I ordered (5) 36in blinds and (3) 35in blinds. I received one box with (5) 36in blinds but I did not receive the (3) 35in blinds. I called the customer service to dispute the order, and home depot Customer service Rep named Demarion said that the only way I can get the money back is by disputing it with my credit card as an unauthorized charge. I told Demarion he is handling this all wrong. I ordered the blinds from home depot, and my money went to home depot. It doesn't matter if it is fedex's or the vendors fault. The blame goes on the one I purchased the items from. I asked Demarion if 74.88 is worth losing a customer for life. He said he is sorry about this mistake but the only way to handle it is to file a dispute with my credit card. This was not handled professionally and Home Depot did lose a customer over 74.88. I will now take my business to Menards, Lowes, or Amazon for any further purchases, and I will not buy anything from home depot moving forward. Your customer service rep did not do an adequate job in handling the problem. Money back or resending another delivery for the missing items would have been the only way to handle this mistake. I ordered a washer and dryer 1 days ago and it could have been from Home Depot but with the way my issue for only $74.88 was handled, I decided buy my LG washer and dryer from Lowes for a total of $1,830. Already losing from trying to be cheap and save 74.88. I have visited this Home Depot so many times in my career and for my own personal use that I was on a first name bases with a lot of the employees. I work in real estate and help flip homes and manage many homes. This is the first place I come to when I need something - Home Depot... until this past week. For the full details of this story, search for ARS Services and ready my review there as well. To summarize, I contacted Home Depot to have all the furnaces tuned up in the managed rental homes. Here's how this played out... -Requested 23 properties to have furnace tune-ups -Waited 2 weeks to get a call back -Was passed on to another manager - had to request all over again -Spoke with Manager Brian - got passed on to Manager Gilbert -Spoke with Gilbert 4 days later. Requested info regarding billing and was told he would get back to me. 1 1/2 weeks passed. -Called and spoke to Manager Brian. Passed on again to Manager Gilbert -Gilbert gathered information and said he'd call back. -Didn't get a call back. Called again and was told Brian went on vacation. -Spoke to new manager - was confirmed and they connected me with ARS Services (Please view ARS Services Review) Summary: Disappointed in the level of service received. To think that in 2017 I was disappointed with the level of service from the Round Lake Beach location and have since been coming to the Gurnee location. Now I think I'll just go to Menards. I'm sure I'll get better service there than what Home Depot gives out. Pretty sad. read more

If I can give no stars I would. The tool rental is total scam, I had rented a tool that wasn't functioning right and when I took it back to the store to return the tool rental was closed. I talked to the manger and I told him my story and my frustration with the tool and how that I have to now pay for two days instead of one for a tool that wasn't working he said exactly and I quote"that's right" it's on you that you didn't read the contract to know that the center close at 8 I have mentioned that his staff didn't mention it but he was so rude. Don't shop there don't rent there. Menards are across the street and I have never had a problem with their tool rental. read more

We were at the paint counter and waited for our turn. The gentleman behind the counter was in the middle of mixing paint so we were more than happy to wait. The whole time we were there, he never acknowledged us. Then another associate came to the paint counter, and they spoke briefly, just when another customer approached. The first associate then tells the second associate they needed to be helped, all the while we were still standing by the counter. It took the second time for me to say, "we were here first" that the second associate says "I didn't know, I thought he already had helped you and I can help you after I help them." At which point my husband had already told me we should just go to our regular Home Depot location. Even when this quick exchange happened, the first associate didn't even say anything, just no acknowledgement period. Overall, bad customer service. I've seen the paint department associates in our regular store greet every customer that comes through whether they are waiting on their turn or just passing by. read more

This review is for staffing of the store. This particular store only keeps 1 person at the registers and 1 person at the customer service desk. There are 30 employees walking around the store doing nothing. I have been here multiple times this week in need of returns and order pick up and it's just not possible in under 30 min. We had the best experience buying our new washer with "Stan the Man"! He was super sweet, kind, courteous, and made small talk with us while we made our purchase. He also gave us tips on things we didn't know and made sure we got the most for our money. I'd like to rate it no stars.... Your Gurnee store is neck and neck with the Gurnee Post Office for the worst customer service I've encountered, at least on the phone. I tried calling to speak to someone (8:00 PM) in the blind dept and ALLLLLLL employees were busy and I was put on a never ending phone loop accordingly. I did call back and finally got a rather un enthused guy . I thought I would cut my losses and ask my rather simple question, "does HD repair window blinds". He said he didn't know and the conversation seemed to be ending right there. Like asking if John is there and the person answering says "no" and doesn't offer to have the called speak to someone who might know something. I finally asked the guy if he could put me thru to that dept and if he thought someone might answer. He was pretty condition to answering "I don't know". Ok, right to the point. I went on line to purchase a hot water heater from Home Depot at $600.15. The link for an installation quote came from DRF. Not only was it OUTRAGEOUS but downright insulting! The quote was $1800+ and they couldn't even guarantee that. This was for a 40 gallon hot water heater in my home. I will tell you that the average cost of installing a hot water heater is WAY BELOW that amount. So $1800 minus the $600 water heater is $1200!!! He gave me every excuse from inflation to a shortage of plumbers. What a line.... Not only has Home Depot lost my business, but after I have another hot water heater bought from a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL tomorrow, I am going to send that receipt and DRF's quote to the Illinois Department of Consumer Affairs and file a formal complaint. OBVIOUSLY not for me, but for the many consumers that this contractor has likely taken to the cleaners. Almost in the class action suit category. Good Home Depot, big selection, very knowledgeable staff, and a Vienna Beef hot dog stand in the exit. And, I gotta say, this stand's hot dogs are amazing. The brands here are a bit higher-end than the nearby Lowe's, but the staff of both stores have comparable knowledge and skill. Home Depot is a bit more expensive. And of course if you disagree with the firm's political contributions, at least there's an alternative to hem down the street. However, this is probably the best Home Depot I've ever been to and if you're in the area this will probably be your store. read more

Very high priced nursery stock at this Home Depot. selection I went to Horvat's Garden center in Antioch and they had some great prices on flats nearly $8 cheaper. This home depot had flats of 12 plants for $7.98 and Horvat's has flats for $14.99 for 36 plants or buy a 6 pack for $3. I personally like the staff better at Horvats as well as the location on Deep Lake Road is a very pleasant place to shop. read more

I ordered a $3500 refrigerator/freezer on 5/31/21 they told me delivery would be on 6/15/21 - they delivered but said that they could not hook it up because the guy didn't know how to and he did not bring the water line that was purchased with the product. New date for delivery set for 6/25/21 (10 days later). I was on phone for 45 minutes prior to delivery date with customer service person with heavy accent that I could not understand. Finally understood that she would make sure that the team that would come back to install the fridge on 6/25/21 would be equipped to install the unit. I unloaded the contents of the fridge and freezer for the second time and the guys arrived except they did not bring the new fridge/freezer unit!!! I have never experienced such utter and complete incompetence. As I write this seething review as catharsis, I am on hold with someone else with Home Depot that has now taken up 75 additional minutes of my time trying to get this straightened out. I am not confidant that that will happen. I will never order from Home Depot again who, by the way, uses EXPO Logistics to deliver and install and they are just as incompetent apparently. I'm giving this location two stars. I was incredibly disappointed with the service at this location. It took my husband about 10 minutes to track down an employee to help us get a vanity off a high shelf. And then when we were looking at medicine cabinets, I counted 6 employees who walked right past us without saying a WORD. No "how can I help you?" Or "Do you need help finding anything?" Or even a "Hello" Or a "Good afternoon"! FINALLY when we were looking at faucets a kind man came up to us and asked how we were doing and if we needed any help. He kindly pointed us to good brands for faucets and steered us away from a brand that apparently tends to be unreliable. I so deeply appreciated his time and customer service and I wish that I had gotten his name so I could sing his praises in this review and to a manager. He is the reason for two stars versus one. Tried to talk to the store manager on the phone, and I got blocked by the receptionist and customer service department. Hung up on me the first call. Then kept placing the phone on the desk without talking to me, and putting me on hold. Never got to talk to the store manager, and had another Home Depot store fix their problem. As well as a call to the corporate customer service. Never, and I mean never will go to the Gurnee Home Depot again. Avoid it if you can. I am not a fan of big box stores for the most part. We recently bought a new home and had some projects that needed to be completed. We bought carpeting and toilets from Home Depot. We had issues on both. We hated the toilets, they did not function as advertised, and the carpet had a flaw/stain in it. Neither situation was Home Depot's fault. What warrants the 5 star review was the way the store handled the situation. In both cases the store -Chrissy stepped in and corrected the problem. They replaced my toilets and the carpeting in a timely manner and made sure I was satisfied. They went over and above to make sure all of our issues were corrected. With out exaggeration, I have been in the store at least twice a week for the last couple months. Thier sales staff have been very attentive and been very helpful. read more

I would highly suggest taking a class with them as the accommodate all needs and make it fun to build. This is the Home Depot I go to when the local home improvement stores (Mundelein Ace, Home Depot and Menards) are not cutting it. Because so often success in home improvement depends on improvisation, it is important that the employees that help you are experienced, creative, and good communicators. This Home Depot's staff has this in spades, along with the full HD product line. Its a really big store, and the thing that I like about the Home Depot (above both Lowe's and Menards) is that they have both a "wide" scope of departments as well as fairly "deep" selection within each product area. The last star is for the HD's excellent return policy, a huge plus that lets you buy 2 alternative versions of a product and return the one that doesn't fit the bill. read more

This location is pretty easy to get to, as it is located on Grand ave, couple of blocks from the tollway. It is a pretty big store and really easy to spot their huge orange Home Depot sign. But with all that said, once inside, even when it's not busy, it's hard to get someone to help. Or there are chances to get someone that just isn't in the mood to help. After walking through the store for a good 15 minutes trying to look for what I was looking for and looking for help, I had the misfortune of running into one such employee. She was quick to direct me to the Garden center without providing any further assistance. I obliged and walked over to the Garden center. Once there, I asked another employee and luckily, this one walked me over to Electronics and stayed with me to help me find what I was looking for. Never did I expect picking up a small pack of cable ties would take over 30 minutes. read more

I went to here to rent a tool I waited in line for about close to an hour which I didn't mind because of the COVID-19. However the gentleman working there named Brad you could tell was very not into his job or customer service. I rented my tool I figured he was just having a bad day he did not answer any of my questions. I went To drop off the two or the next day and he tried to charge me an extra $40 for insurance but I never purchased then on top of that he told me that I brought back the equipment dirty which was not true I actually cleaned it. He also went as far as to try to talk down to me and tell me that I brought the unit back without enough gas which after he looked at my rental sheet he realize that I actually brought it back with more gas than his hand. Rather than apologize he just said next time make sure that you clean the machine before you bring it back basically he is a rude Person with no customer service and actually acted like a complete ass I'm not going back to this Home Depot anymore I'll go across the street to Menards at least they're nice to you there read more

If you need to pickup a can of WD40 then anywhere is as good as another. But anything more than that and I would avoid this place. I went in with a drawing to get a bid on replacing our old countertops. I was expecting around $1000 max because they were quoting $30 a square foot. What they came back with was triple that, around $3000. Sticker shocked I requested a detailed breakdown of the costs. What this showed was that they inflated minor tasks such as disconnecting the faucet and sink for $350. For our cheap laminate countertops they wanted $1000 just to remove them. When I inspected it myself they were only held on by a few screws and light enough for me to carry out by myself. So deciding to do the labor myself I went ahead and ordered the countertops, thinking that they would probably be the same price everywhere else. It took about three weeks for them to fabricate and deliver the pieces which wasn't too bad. However after measuring each piece to make sure it would fit I found missing pieces, incorrect lengths, wrong finished edges. A real nightmare. When I called Home Depot I had a real hard time getting a hold of a real person. I got so frustrated that I took my lunch break and went up there to complain firsthand. when I explain the issue they acted like they didn't believe me and wanted me to take pictures with my tape measure proving the lengths were wrong. Once I finally had them convinced looks like they're going to re-order and I have to wait another three weeks. I've had other problems big box stores before, but never this frustrating. Generally, a really nice place. A little hard to find help sometimes. But, still somewhat convenient, especially since I can use my Amex points here. They will tell you that they price match. Although, they won't price match Menards on anything that is not in their ad. So..... that would be most of what they sell. Hahaha. Kind of a hack way to say that you really DON'T price match. It was almost $400 less to buy the same Arrow Hamlet 10 x 8 steel shed at Menards. I don't hate this place, but it was a little annoying to wait as long as they kept me on hold (over 32 minutes), while figuring out excuses as to why not to honor their b.s. policy.
