As a former Radio Shack Dealer, I understand how important it is to have your computer working properly. If this fits you, I would encourage you to seek service elsewhere. Let me explain: I contacted The Geek Squad in early April. I had an appointment scheduled for late April. At the time I was quoted a price, but was not in formed that payment was due in advance. When the day arrived, of course no one showed up. When I called them the next day GS said that I didn't pay in advance. Ok could have been a misunderstanding. So I rebooked for tomorrow May 31st. The tech called me this morning saying he would be at my home between 8 and 11 am on the 31st. The tech was pleasant, his name was Joe. A half hour ago a telephone caller canceled my appointment. Without giving me a valid reason why. I told them about my earlier call this morning. Even giving her the techs name. Didn't matter to her. She gave me mumbo jumbo on why it was canceled. Then she had the gall to say my refund would take 7 to 10 business days. They have had my money since May 13th. Then she told me I could reschedule an appointment, but Nothing available until June 18th. This is over a month and a half since my original phone call. Just as a bonus, try calling GS and actually talking to a person, GOOD LUCK. My recommendation, find another computer repair person. You'll have less headaches, and definitely better service. I purchased an older Mercedes SLK. I discovered I could not easily swap out to a radio to accommodate Sirius xm radio. I tried phoning my local store and was connected to a "national" car audio call center. First, I don't think Ive ever spoken with a less enthusiastic or helpful "sales" person. I explained I wanted to know if they carried a specific brand. This person reeled off Onyx parts which I did not recognize. I said I needed a receiver. The "sales" guy hung up. Called back to finish the call and reached the first salesman's clone, low energy, unsure of his products. Learned where not to consider for future tech purchases. I bought something for my son's gaming setup a month ago. I was led to believe our account (under my husband's name) was active when I ordered it through one of the employees over the phone. It turns out he can't use it so I went to return it only to be told we do not have an active account and I can't return it. It was $100. The manager told my husband there was nothing they could do including trading it for store credit. I would have been happy with the store credit and would have kept being a loyal customer just like I've been for the last 20 years. I am NEVER shopping at a Best Buy again. I can't afford to throw away $100. I almost never leave reviews for anything but I just want to warn people about the chance of something unfair like this happening to them. read more

Ok, I have a lot (and by that I mean over 3 pages on a word doument) to say, but it does look like yelp does has character cap, so I'll just put the cliffs notes version in and then recap. -I bought a computer in Feb. -It started randomly shutting down in July (about 5 months later) -I took it into Geek Squad twice and they were unable to fix it. -When I returned it, they said they could only give me store credit, which I was very reluctant to accept. I, and my brother who was with me were both under the impression that the 3 year protection plan would roll over to a new device (we specifically asked about this). -I got an email the next day that contradicted what My brother and I had been told, my policy on the device had been canceled entirely. -We went back to the store to clarify this and they confirmed the policy had been canceled. We said this contradicted what we had been told (by the same person no less). -In response to this dispute, the front end manager, to my brother's face and with a smile said and I quote "Yes I'm calling you a liar," Immediately escalating a a difficult situation with a customer. -We asked for the store manager who immediately threatened to have my brother removed (my brother was rather visibly angry, and his voice had raised a bit, but he was not particularly rude and did not so much as cuss, let alone threaten any of the store's employees. I believe his anger to be justified given that he was just insulted by the front end manager. -My brother voluntarily waked back to his car to cool off while the Store manager explained the policy to me. He used a clumsy analogy about car insurance and argued that every company has always had the same policy, which I know from personal experience is not the case. -Currently I have only the price of the computer in store credit. The protection policy is canceled and if I want a new computer with a protection policy I will need to pay another $300+ to become whole again. So lets recap, I'm sold a defective item, the store is unable to fix it. I am told contradictory things with regards to what's covered and how it is covered. When I return it I am only given store credit for the computer and the 3 year warranty is voided after five months of having the device. When I am the least bit critical of any of this the store management instantly pivots to defence and in a tactless disgraceful manner insults my brother and by extension myself. If I were the district manager presiding over this location I would at the very least investigate this management team and try to discern why it is that their immediate response to a disgruntled customer is to immediately make the situation ten times worse. At this point, I think asking for the full $1,443.64 to be returned to my bank account is not particularly unreasonable. I have contacted the Better Buisness Beaureu and filed a complaint officially and look forward to the company reahhing out to help resolve this issue. Am so ungodly frustrated with geek squad/best buy in Longmont. So ZERO stars for that (EDIT: OK so it is still a frustrating process online/by phone. But my Good husband went in, asked person at Geek desk how to schedule. Guy rolled his eyes when husband told him all the hassles (he was Very understanding!) So we get to just dropby. You MUST schedule an appt. according to the online site. Keeps saying "get APP" I do NOT want yet another APP overloading my iphone/macbook. You may not just drop by. Scheduling Must be done online. Doesn't work. Keeps asking for password. We so rarely go in, who still has a stupid password from last year? "Check your email" NEVER sent. So can't set up appt. We have been members of Best Buy and Geek Squad for over 10 years. If we call to set up an appt, it's this Endless "phone tree" (press #1 for X, press #2 for Y) Rarely ever does a real person answer. If someone answers, they transfer. Then the phone rings & rings for another 10 min. The Geek Squad does a GREAT JOB if you can ever get an appt!!!!! So 10 stars for the Geek workers & 10 for in-store workers. we've bought great TVs, other applicances plus my iphone there. read more

Spoke with someone who has English as a 24th language. Had to repeat myself over and over and over again. They kept asking me, the same thing over and over. You would like to have something done? The geeks themselves are good at what they do, but why is this gigantic wall up against scheduling appointments. We have been members of the Best Buy club For 15 years. It used to be easy. We recently purchased a $2,000 T.V., and a $400 receiver from this store. The salesman told that we could bring our old T.V. in for recycling. However, once we brought our T.V. in, we were told that it was too big, and they wouldn't accept it. The T.V. we were trying to recycle was 55", and they only accept 50" or smaller. Couldn't find anywhere on their website where it specified a size restriction. The salesman knew how large our T.V. was that we were trying to recycle, and didn't mention this would be an issue. I was trespassed from the store today! Makes it very easy to never go back again! The beggining of the end was when I went in to buy a tablet. I spent probably about 2 grand that day, because when Daddy g9es in , everyone else has to get something of course. It was a nice Samsung large 12" tablet, that I honestly have not even used since the trip when I bought it. I was prepping the tablet over at the geeksquad counter, making it ready since we were packed up and about to leave on our trip. I was able to over hear several interactions between the employee behind the cou ter and other customers. He was extremely rude to several customers while I was there. After he ran out of customers to help, he had time to tell me I needed to find somewhere else to do what I was doing. The final straw was today, when I went in to get accessories for my laptop. I was looking at the laptop bags and saw a backpack style bag for a reasonable discounted price of $49.99. The tag had a little red discount symbol for total tech members. I thought that is great, getting more for my $200 a year membership. I took the bag up with another $170 of items I had picked. The bag rang up at $79.99. I mentioned the shelf price. The cashier sat there confused. Not wanting to be taken advantage of, I walked back to look at the tag again. It clearly said $49.99. This is where I ran into the mean Female manager. She told me the price on the shelf did n9t matter as the item could be moved around. There were no other empty hooks the item could have been placed. I asked her if she wanted to take a minute to organize the shelf so I could shop for my bag. She said they did not have the time. I asked her if she wanted to honor the price that was on the shelf, and she said that she could not due to policy. I asked her if she really wanted to lose me as a customer over $20. She pretty much said she had no choice. I was so furious at this stage that I said take the bag off the transaction, I do not want it. I was so mad at this point that I accidentally walked out with the bag on my shoulder. I told my wife the story and we realized we needed to return the bag. The stuffy Female manager had called the Police on me! I was only 1 minute away from the store heading back to return the bag. The manager was all smiles, she felt she had won something here. I told here I wohld never be back to the store, and she should look at my purchase history to see how much her store is losing over $20. I do not know what is worse, the fact that she does not realize her and the store are the losers in this situation, or the fact that she probably does not even care. We spent about $9000 in 2023 alone. We bought our fancy Sony TV there in 2019, we purchased just about every laptop we own there, we bought our Vacuum there, our phones. But they will not care. This is the world we live in now... It is such a shame. read more

I can never seem to get service in the store. There's always staff there, but they are talking to each other and it's very difficult to get their attention. I just walked out of the store and their shelves look like they have been ransacked in some parts of the store. What are the staff doing exactly? When Best Buy goes down (and they will) you can blame the fact that you can't get decent service and they never have good stock. They really aren't giving us a good reason to not order from Amazon. I went online to look for availability of a specific printer at the Boulder store. THe inventory showed 2 in stock. When I drove to the store I was told they had none. I was told to call the Longmont store. The Longmont inventory also showed 2 in stock. I called Longmont to ask someone to verify that they actually had the printer in stock. I could never reach anyone who worked in the Longmont store. I got someone from another country that could only look at the inventory on the computer. They would not/ could not connect me with a person who could confirm that a unit was actually on the shelf. Zero customer service!! read more

Wildly understaffed. Came in to pickup a new laptop. Ordinarily I don't go near brick and mortar electronics stores for obvious reasons. I go in today, pickup my online order, browse for something else I know I will end up needing and head to the checkout. At the checkout, a short man in a Geek Squad polo walks up to two 20-something year old dirtbags (junkie loser type individuals) and asks for his merchandise back. Cops walk in behind the Geek Squad staff member. One of the kids pulls several shoplifted phone cases from his pocket. Easily the trashiest thing I have seen in 2022. Made my day for sure I was amazed that they were able to catch Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumbass before they walked out with stolen goods, considering how understaffed the store appeared read more

waited 40 minutes for pick up. finally went into the store, had 2 different employees look at the line at CS and turn and walk in the opposite direction. Usual excuse, we are extremely busy. Interestingly, they had one cashier lane open, no customers, they had three at Geek Squad, and several other employees looking/milling around. The guy that finally helped said he was the warehouse manager, and he was swamped. There was no one else waiting outside for Customer Pickup and they filled the order in under twenty minutes. Conveniently, when i asked for a manager, he wasn't there. The whole experience was the single worst shopping experience i have ever had. I will now order everything i need on line or i will travel to Micro Center. I will urge everyone i know to shop else where. read more

My iPhone 11 Pro needed a new battery, and so I made an appointment with the Geek Squad at 3:20pm on my only day off which was Friday, November 18, 2022. I waited about 20 minutes before the staff was available to help me. I started the process of getting my new battery, and it turned out that there was literally only one battery left in stock. That was the only good part to this story. Had I been told at the beginning that I would need to leave for phone for 2+ hours, I would have perhaps done this one a different day, but I did have some errands and I knew I could manage without my phone for that long, so I paid up front for the service and left. I got back at 5:50pm thinking that they would have had plenty of time to swap out my battery. When I arrived, I was told that they hadn't even started due to blah, blah, blah, excuse this and excuse that. They assured me that it would only take "about" another hour. I had a trunk full of groceries and was already tired and ready to get home. I stormed off, but then came back 10 minutes later and told them I wanted to cancel the order and I wanted my money back. I was told that would not be possible because suddenly they were already halfway done (lie, lie, lie). If it only takes 10 minutes to be halfway done, why was it taking over 3 hours??? I went to Ulta for some retail therapy, came back at 7pm and they still had several things to do and I was told it would be another 30 minutes. I had nowhere else to go, no book to read, no phone to listen to an audio book, so I went to the tv area, sat in one of their comfy chairs and put my feet up on the table. I took a little nap, and I checked back two more times. By the time I finally got my phone back, it was after 8pm. I spoke to the manager named Weston and he said they were just really short-staffed and apologized. In fact, everyone I spoke to apologized, but an apology, though polite, doesn't change the situation. The final thing is that the next day (Saturday,Nov. 19) , I got an email from my bank saying that I had requested my bank logon information at 4:23pm and that if I hadn't requested that, I should call them. Since the Geek Squad had my phone at that exact time, I know for certain that I had not requested my bank to send me my logon information. I'm not saying that someone on staff there tried to get into my banking app, but someone did and it wasn't me and since they had my phone at that time, it is a fairly logical conclusion that someone did attempt it. Needless to say, I changed my banking information immediately. Prior to this experience, I have had good service at this location; however, the chances of me ever going back though are slim to none. Update: Our HP Pavillion gaming computer started acting up and we weren't able to fix it ourselves. It was trying to roll back a Windows update and would start the restore and then hang. We took it in to the Geek Squad and they diagnosed it as a memory failure, and they replaced the memory and installed all the Windows updates. Service was good and the machine was ready when promised, and has worked with no problems since. read more

I had a car stereo installed here and had to go back 3 times for service to make the stereo function. After the service I realized my back speakers weren't working but assumed they were blown (I was upgrading a used car I had purchased). Well, I finally got around to replacing those speakers, going to a more highly rated stereo installer for that, and they tell me the reason the speakers weren't functioning was because of the installation errors made by Best Buy. It was wired incorrectly and I was told that the installation appeared to be a Rookie Job - so an extra $130 to fix Best Buy's installation job (on top of my speaker installation) and I'll finally have working speakers in my car. read more

BOYCOTTING BEST BUY LONGMONT Despite being greeted by a member of staff who was understanding and willing to help, the management was the polar opposite. My son and I bought a Samsung phone November 2019. When offered the "gold standard" of extra warranty for a couple hundred bucks, my son bought it. It was explained as a "any problem you have you bring it back to us and we will repair or replace and, if necessary, WE will deal with Samsung." He has had repeated problems with the phone and has brought it back 3 times in the last 6 months. The first time they wanted him to buy a new phone while still paying off the defective one as they no longer have that warranty. My son asked them to refund the extra warranty if they wouldn't honor it. They did not. The second time, they told him he needed to pay $199 for them to repair/replace as per the "insurance" policy, not "warranty." This was never indicated or explained when the warranty was purchased, despite all our questions and their assurances. We went back again, and they held fast to the pay $199 and we'll take care of it. When asked again to refund the defunct warranty, they said they would, but it would be prorated for the time left, after a fee. So he would not receive the prorated rate from when he first asked for the refund 6 months ago "because it's done by the computer." Our greeter admitted they are trained to upsell each complaining customer as well as sell you new items when needing repairs or replacement despite having already paid a high price tag for extra coverage. My son said that there is a huge issue with lack of training of staff on their warranty plans. I said it amounts to "bait & switch" as they don't stand by their sales staff and their errors. I purchased JVC radio and corresponding adapters for my Van. I was asked to wait for ~1 month for the appointment and pre-order the parts. I received the parts with one of the part was damaged from the packing itself. It was trapped with a tape and many staplers pins. The quality of the product shipped was for sure never even evaluated before shipping it to me. When i complaint after receiving the product, the Best buy agents along with supervisor offered me 3 options: 1) wait for replacement that can be expedited shipped after 3 weeks+ 2) Get 10% discount on this adapter, which is 1.6$ roughly and live with this damaged product 3) Get refund and waste the previous time i waited The supervisor and agent sounded pretty rude and their tone was almost why did you even waste time in buying Auto parts from Bestbuy. I had never seen any other issues with the product in past with Bestbuy. I was hoping for similar quality and service. However, it looks like they do ship substandard products. read more

Tried to buy a new TV that required more than a "plug and play" installation. After waiting 2 weeks for the TV to arrive I tried to get some assurance that the Geek Squad would that for me (i.e. lowering a shelf on the entertainment center). Sales person couldn't tell tell me, and the Geek Squad Manger, Brad, couldn't tell me or connect me to the right person. Brad lectured me on how unreasonable I was to expect answers before the installation so I told him to cancel the entire transaction. There is a "wall" between store sales and and Geek Squad installation people and it's up to the customer to navigate the corporate labyrinth. I asked them to please go over to the counter and get her eyes on the device and make sure it's there and ready before I came, since my drive to the store and back is roughly 2 hours.
