So hubby and I are here in Salinas/Monterey for my birthday. We went to Best Buy this morning after the crowds and they still had a ton of stuff on sale. We were looking at a camera and some other items and the staff was very friendly and helpful. You would think that they would be exhausted dealing with Black Friday shoppers but they were all wonderful!! One in particular I want to mention is Christina. Okay this is going to be harsh... The sales reps have zero knowledge of what they are trying to sell. I went in there for answers about laptops and I knew more than the sales representatives! Best Buy is expensive compared to online stores for computer supplies but they do offer a price match guarantee. I used my phone to search for online prices of the laptop I wanted. I found it online $150 cheaper than the Best Buy price and they matched it. Because of that I give them a two star but because of the sales reps I wanted to give it a one star. Service is absolutely horrible. I have exactly two people in front of me and it has taken about half an hour to even be talked to. Visit number two: (didn't have time to drive to marina) I was looking for a new laptop for school and it was hard to get employees to give me some information about the kind of laptop I had in mind or show me different styles or even acknowledge me. After a while I decided on what I wanted by researching everything on my own. I waited in line to ask if they had the laptop in stock. I waited about 15 minutes to be talked to and nothing. I finally got the attention of an employee and then they said they'd be with me in a second.... Nope. Nothing. I went up to the counter and asked if they had the one I had in mind. Ten minutes later literally didn't really bother to look and said they didn't have it. I just left. Terrible costumer service, I rather drive to marina from now one. Don't waste your time here. I purchased a car stereo and backup camera. I scheduled the install and twice Best Buy rescheduled it. I dropped of my tuck, a 1999 Nissan Frontier with all the parts. The truck was there for 6 and 1/2 hours and was not done. The faceplate was on crooked, the micro phone was attached poorly to the steering wheel and falls off when the steering wheel is adjusted. The backup camera never worked. Since then, Best Buy and rescheduled me another 5 times, each 2 weeks apart, The job is still not done. No reasons given just "sorry". Beware. Best Buy is definitely not the customer's best buy! We bought a Wii for kid's Christmas. It was missing 5 essential components when opened. Took it to "Customer Service" and they said that if parts were missing, "not their fault" and policy was that you have to deal with Nintendo. Nintendo verified that they packed a full box of components and that they have problems with distributors missing parts which is likely that staff are salvaging parts for their own use. Nintendo sent us all parts on expedited overnight service. Thanks Nintendo. You saved our kid's Christmas. Best Buy almost ruined ours and I am sure that they also ruined others with their stated policy that if there are parts missing on ANYTHING bought in their store, you are on your own to deal with the manufacturer of the product. Best Buy gets paid and doesn't stand behind the products they sell. No more business with them, ever. read more

Long gone are the days that Best Buy is either an economical or viable option. The prerequisite knowledge of the employees is limited. The customer service lacking, the selection while adequate is always over priced (even the sale items). The only thing provided by the business is an immediate gratification for an item they may happen to carry. Beyond that, I would simply recommend online solutions that are more affordable and less emotionally taxing. I am giving them a second star simply because they have a decent selection of products. But that is where the good stops. I am always amazed at how empty the store is on any day and at any time. Like the nearby Toys-R-Us I have no idea how they subsist and remain in business. read more

I did an online order for pickup on this location. And apparently BEST BUY is giving away customers order to anyone. They are apparently not AUTHENTICATING with picture IDs they are only verifying with emails. I unfortunately was unlucky and someone compromised my email and was able to give the confirmation code to Best Buy and they just gave them my $1400 Mac Book pro that I needed for work. The manager in the store says they can't help to call customer care. I called they told me that they can't help me that it needs to be done at there store because that's the place the order was sent. So no one is helping me or taking the initiative to help. I tried calling back to talk to Mike the Assistant Manager and he says that I need to file a police report. For something that was not even my fault. According to customer care. "Nationwide all Best Buy's are being even more aware and more secure so we are checking IDs with all pick ups" So sounds like the manager doesn't want to take responsibility of one of his reps giving away a $1400 devise to the wrong person. Service is decent, most employees are very knowledgeable although you will get a dud or two occasionally. But since since Circuit City folded, this is now pretty much the only spot for TV's, Computers, etc. I recently purchased a PC and was impressed with the salesman, me being a part time nerd, I asked if the PC had another slot for another hard drive and/or another DVD drive. He said there was but I wasn't convinced so when I got home I opened it and he was right. They did stop carrying a lot of the items that I use for my home business, but it's always cheaper online. But it would be helpful for me, specially when I procrastinate or my online vendors are out of stock. read more

Service is a real hit or miss here. I've had good, but also really bad customer service at this location. The guys from the geek squad have generally been very helpful, but wow, they are slow. I'm not sure why takes more than 25 minutes to process a return or repair. They can definitely improve on that. The sales people are generally very helpful and try to help find what you are looking for. The cashiers and managers that have helped me have been completely rude and standoffish. Also, I just don't get why the printers are so prone to breaking down. I'm on my 4th printer with them in the last 8 months. Good thing I've had the foresight to buy warranties ($20 for two years - expensive, I know) so they keep on replacing them, but I would be seriously pissed if I hadn't bought the warranties. In general I don't buy warranties for stuff because they tend to be a rip off, but for printers and computers I would highly recommend them. Unfortunately circuit city is now closed, so I don't really know where else to get this stuff. Its at least way more convenient to get something replaced locally then it is to send it back to an online shop. read more

I've always had pleasant experiences shopping with Best Buy. Employees are friendly and always approach me and see if I need help. I recently went in for a new laptop and the employee was very helpful. Christina is everything you want in an employee. Very approachable, easy to interact with, knowledgeable etc. I didn't know SH*T about laptops and she answered all my questions. She let me know which laptops were discounted and she helped me sign up for student deals right on the spot so I could save money. I ended up purchasing a Mac for the same price of another laptop (due to discounts), and it will last me longer. I had no clue they lasted 8-10 years! Thanks Christina! read more

Walked in on a Saturday evening with the intentions to make an impulse buy on some wireless headphones. I Browsed the store for a bit, found nothing compelling, so I head over to sound. I come across a variety of wireless headphones, of course everything is a behind a locked glass door. Stood there for a while reading the product descriptions waiting for a a store associate to approach me, after several minutes nobody was doing there job so there i go to hunt somebody for some assistance. To avail I find somebody. I had a very simple question to the associate (useless, associate may I add) about, JbL in ear wireless headphones, "what can you tell me about these?" Broad question, I get that, but here is the opportunity for him to bullshit me and sell me the item, but no, I get an inept lazy response, "this isn't my department" (that is a direct quote). Give me something, god damnit! verbatim from the description, some bullshit, they're loud, bass is deep, they sound great, whatever! Not, "this isn't my department". I looked at him Empty and turned away and told him he could go. I left the store empty handed. Mr. This isn't my department, cost the store a sale. Still hankering to Satisfy my headphone purchasing needs, later that evening I logged onto, Amazon, did some research and bought my damn headphones. Not the JBL I was originally inquiring, but instead some, Bose brand and for $50 less than what Best Buy has them for. I suppose it was the good in the bad, right? To conclude things, i'm convinced ( and I'm not the type to jump to assertive conclusions) Best Buy doesn't hire people to sell products, more to be, let's say store fillers. I ordered a new refrigerator one month ago. I was told that it would be delivered tomorrow. My family had been living out of coolers as well as fast food and frequent visits to our grocery store. Best Buy customer support called today and stated that the refrigerator was back-ordered and that it would take another 2 1/2 weeks! The customer support girl did not speak English well. She could only repeat scripted phrases, disregarding any questions I presented her. She told me she was calling from the Philippines. I ask for a manager and was told that she was my customer advocate and there was no manager. She finally gave me a customer support number. I called the number and got a representative with a heavy Philippine accent who stated he was in California. I conveyed my situation, he said he'd look into it and the call was disconnected. The next call to customer support again was a male with a Philippine accent who stated he was in Miami. He stated he would look into the issue and again the call disconnected. Neither of the disconnected calls were returned. Best Buy apparently, rather than employing Americans within the US, farms their customer support to the Philippines. My final call was made and after being assured that they would call back on a dropped call, the rep told me they would see if the refrigerator could be delivered earlier. She would call back with a day or two. Yea, OK. I'm deciding whether to drive across town to cancel my order. I will definitely no longer do any business with Best Buy. read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars. I have been doing business with Best Buy ever since they came to Salinas. I have purchased every one on my appliances from them. But, I will never do business with them again! I went in to purchase a dryer, I scheduled delivery, the day of delivery we waited from 6am to 12pm, and it was delivered to the wrong address, the sales reps mistake. When we gave them the correct address they let us know that they could not deliver the same day, we would have to reschedule for 4 days out. Since we had not choice we went ahead and rescheduled. We then received multiple calls and emails saying we needed to reschedule our new appointment and every time I spoke with a rep. they told me that there was no need to reschedule again, our appointment was good and the delivery would be done between 12 and 6 pm on Monday. Monday came around and we waited, no emails and no calls, that day at 5:55pm we called customer service to see if the truck was on its way, we were told that our appointment had been canceled because some of the items we ordered did not make it on the truck. No one bothered to let us know no call from Best Buy and no calls from the delivery company. At this point we had wasted all day waiting on them. I have canceled my order and I will never do business with them or anyone who uses DSI Logistics for delivery again. read more

The worst 'jaw dropping' customer experience ever and probably the lowest customer retention rate! I purchased a Fitbit Charge HR as a Christmas present for my mom in Elk Grove during their 4 Hour sale. After a long, terrible drive from Sacramento to Salinas, I discovered that the item is too small and needed to be exchanged. Considering my mom isn't tech savvy and me not wanting to make another 6-hour round trip, I went to Best Buy in Salinas as an attempt to exchange the item. While waiting a minimum of 20 minutes in their Customer Service line, my mom decided to grab a large Fitbit Charge HR in a different color. I explained to the rep that I needed to make an exchange, which she then blind-sided me by telling me that there will be a difference of $40 in price. She and her manager mentioned that the item is no longer on sale, which is why I would have to pay full price. Their argument was that the item, regardless of the model, is different by color and size than the one I needed exchanged. Arguably, even if we were to select the same color and opt for a larger size, they would still charge me full price. After my mom, my girlfriend and I took turns explaining how absurd their policy was, as well as their lack of concern for losing a customer, I told them they can refund me my money, as they will NEVER have me as a customer ever again. ** I did, by the way, purchase a laptop from this location online for my mom as a prior Christmas present, hence why I will never be their customer again. read more

Hello: I purchased a "splitter" for my cable TV cable thinking it would solve a problem. When I learned the "splitter" wouldn't do the job, I went to the Northridge store where I bought the item to return it. - The person at the "customer service" counter said he needed my Identification before he could give me a refund, even though I had the "splitter" in its original package and my receipt. I asked why my Identification/driver's license was needed when I returned the item with the receipt. ---It's company policy, I was told. - I don't carry my driver's license in my pocket, so I had to walk back to my car, get my driver's license, and return to the store and the "customer service" counter. I again told the "customer service" person that my I.D. should not matter as I had the item in excellent condition and the receipt. - The "customer service" man then said, "Well, we don't actually need your I.D." -- Huh! --? -- So if you don't need my I.D. to return an item, why ask for it? -- I'm so tired of businesses that make it Difficult to do business with them. -- I will Never buy from "Best Buy" again. read more

They will glare at you if they even bother to acknowledge your presence. They're too busy chatting amongst themselves, why should they actually work? I mean, helping a customer is incredibly difficult. The manager is an idiot. He has no idea what his own store policies are. He'll just ask one of his employees what the store's policies are. No joke, he's that dumb. If you insist that they follow their own policies, they'll become very angry for knowing more than they do (it's impossible to know less than they do). This has been my favorite store to go to for all my electronic, tech needs. As with all good things come bad ones too. I was very disappointed with the LACK of customer service from the new store manager there. Long story short, purchased a 46" LED Samsung Smart TV a year ago tomorrow 03/29/2013. Still under MFG Warranty. TV went off two weeks ago for panel replacement, issue was resolved, but came back from Best Buys selected Service Repair with new issues. Contacted Samsung direct they sent a service man out to home, unable for repair. We then received a exchange/credit direct from Samsung Corporate Office for full price of TV and were told in an email from them that we could go to any Best Buy and provide this 10 digit number. We then went to Best Buy to honor it and they were not able to locate where the return item credit number provided should be entered. We provided all supporting documents directly received from Samsung Customer Relations Division, NJ. and they would not do a thing until they spoke to Samsung direct. I was very disappointed with this decision. I believe as a customer we had already gone the extra mile in providing them with the exchange number and since they were inept in processing it we get to go back for the 4th time. Total lack of CUSTOMER SERVICE on the Manager's part, in my opinion. Bad decision in doing so. I have been a loyal customer for many years and spent a ton of money at this store, now feel I don't want to spend another dime there. For me that's sad. It was my FAVORITE store. I believe that one hand washes the other. I wish I could of walked out of there feeling like I was their favorite customer. P.S. Allison you were great in making all those calls to Samsungs Corporate Office in the hopes to get this digit number provided resolved but with time difference no one was available.
