I bought a refurbished computer from Best Buy on line. It was supposed to have a one year warranty, but the local Geek Squad was reluctant to honor it. They said there were condition issues that might void the warranty - scratches on the case -and they would have to send it out for service. I know they don't do parts level repair - worst case they will swap out a board, best case of they will fix a cold solder joint. There are so ome scratches on the case, which I consider normal wear and tear . They have done me right on other occasions (non-warranty issues) hence the two stars. I'm taking the computer to an independent for repair. read more

I've avoided leaving a review for this place because I know the people on the floor have zero power to make change, but after multiple unbelievably bad experiences, today took the cake. It's really too long to tell the whole story here, but ai just spent 30 minutes trying to buy a $19 product and this place routed me between customer service and 'go wait over there' twice, after I'd already ordered the product online. The utter disrespect for my time was beyond the pale. Every time iv gone the employees have been very rude! There's a couple there that are great but it's a 50/50. Every other Best Buy is better than here. They have a good selection and the price is okay for convenience. Just a shame that I come in with a good mood for a pick up order and get snarky comments under their breaths. When I walked in last I was on a phone call heading straight the the pickup counter because I knew how and the welcoming employee said "can I help you, or ignore and don't listen to me okay" when I was obviously on a call going where I needed to be. Less than helpful when it comes to AppleCare+ repairs on phones. If they don't have your part they expect you to hand over your phone to them for at least 3-4 days until the part comes in. Like what? Talk about a safety concern. When I asked about the Best Buy up in Salem and seeing if I would be able to call to see if they have the part in stock I was told "they won't tell you over the phone". The associate seemed really weird and defensive about trying to assist me in getting my phone fixed. This isn't how I would treat a customer coming to me for service, it was super odd. Highly recommend mobile kangaroo in downtown Eugene instead, they let you put down a small refundable deposit and you get to hold on to your phone until the part comes in! Figure it out Best Buy, update your policy and get with the times. Who is actually going to hand over their phone for an unknown amount of time? Have people put cards on file or charge a deposit! I normally don't do this but I felt compelled to to talk about my experience as it was the worst costumer service I have ever had. I ordered a blu ray season of a show on BestBuy.com. They sent me a DVD set. I came in with the DVD set to get a replacement as I was told to do through chat on BestBuy.com. I went through the customer service line to be told to talk to the lady at the front about getting a replacement. She told me to go to the blu ray section, get another one, and go to costumer service. They didn't have it in stock as it is was still on preorder. I stopped another person on the floor to be told to go to costumer service again and return and get a replacement. I walked up to the lady up front and asked if I could go to the front of the large customer service line. To her credit, she said to stand to the right of the clerk. he then instructed for me to go to the end of the line. I told him the lady up front told me to come to him and get a replacement either in store or have it sent to my house. He said, that's funny, the lady I talked to was the GM. To his credit, he let me go next and then I was instructed he couldn't order it in or send it to my house as it was on pre order, He couldn't even do it through the site. I walked up to the "GM" and told her about my experience. She told me to go back home and call customer service again. Still going on the run around with them. Wasted 2 hours on chat and an hour and a half at the store with no positive result. Instead, I was treated like a nuisance. I know good costumer service as I have worked in service environments my entire career. What a waste of time. read more

I got an Apple Watch 4 and I told the salesperson that I pay $35. Per month to have att protection on all my devices. He said that this was different protection through Best Buy and if I break my new watch then all I do is bring it back and Best Buy hands me a new one. Liars, liars, liars!!! I broke my watch, took it back and learned that they LIED! They don't hand me a new watch they order one in and it takes even longer then the att protection I already have! I spoke to the general manager Branden and he just kept saying that he didn't know what his sales person had said because he wasn't there. Retired 69 year old after many years in retail management. have bought $$$$ of tech, appliances E.T. & media at Springfield Best Buy, mainly as there's no where else to purchase locally. Springfield in store customer service has become rude & substandard so I do business online when possible. Damaged Breville pro oven delivered to front door today, 6th March 2023. I then spent 1.5 hours, 3 calls, trying to reach a REAL Best Buy human. Finally at 8:50 p.m. Sabrina (?) answered my last call, asked for my name & phone number and promptly hung up on me. I am disabled & cannot lift over 10-15 lbs. without a struggle. I cannot get a 45 lb. Plus box down the steps & to my vehicle to return. I will reach out to corporate tomorrow for (hopefully) resolution. This isn't about a damaged product or my disability. It's about a store that texts; "out for delivery" & 4 hours later item is dumped at door. It's about a store obviously so understaffed & or neglectful that robot phone voice promising response in 5 minutes results in constant recalls, only to be hung up on. Springfield Best Buy used to have wonderfu, kindly staff & was a pleasure to visit. Current conditions there are the reason that folks deserving respect & decent service turn to Amazon. Terrible Best Buy! I ordered something and was getting text it was on its way but nothing showed! Bad customer service!

Do not use their radio install service. Spent $500 bucks and waited for delivery 2 weeks later. Only to be told on day of install date that they don't have the right part for my car because I have navigation. Which I told the guy who setup the appointment I had navigation in my car. The paperwork even said I had navigation in car already. They then said they had to order the part and it would be in on Thursday. So they scheduled second install on Saturday. Saturday comes and they call me an hour before appointment to say the part was never delivered. Why not call me on Friday the day after it was supposed to be delivered. Why call Me an hour before my freakin appointment? So I ask when can you reschedule me then? They say next week Friday!!!! Are you f"ing kidding me dude. He says they have several cars ahead of me. I asked if any of them have waited as long as I have and he actually said yes a few have been waiting at least 6 weeks!!!! What the hell do they do here? I told him I would like a full refund of my $500 I paid 3 weeks ago, he said because of the weekend i probably wouldn't see my money refunded until Thursday or Friday next week!! Which is when my appointment was rescheduled to. So I decided to keep appointment and told him it was their last chance or else I want immediate refund of my money. Will update after appointment. I bought a Macbook Air with a $50 discount because it had been returned by the first buyer. I was assured that it was all checked out and completely in working order. It wasn't. After spending a couple hours getting it set up, several of the programs wouldn't open. I suspect that is why it was returned the first time. My frustration came when I got an appointment with the Geek Squad. They were actually going to charge me to have a brand new piece of merchandise fixed. I decided to exchanged it for a new one instead, but felt I should receive some compensation for my trouble and the fact that I would have to pay the $50 difference on a new one. The manager would not even give me a store credit to use in the future, which I would gladly have paid the full price for a new Macbook and use the store credit at a later time. There was absolutely no understanding of customer service involved in that transaction. I will not be shopping at Best Buy again and will share my story with my friends and family. read more

Reviewing Best Buy is really difficult to do. Mostly because most experiences can be very average and many can be downright atrocious. When everything goes smoothly, you don't really think about it. I've been here many, many times and I am an Elite buyer from their website (if they had another tier above elite, I'd probably be on that too). I don't do that because they are the best deal or the most knowledgeable; it is more because I've gotten so used to their layout and site by this juncture that I can find and order what I need to very quickly where I would need to search for a long time at other places or websites. That being said, this place is extremely hit or miss. Many of my transactions here are simply me walking in, finding what I want without any assistance, and going up and paying. Some days I am asked if I need any help and others not. On the days I am asked if I need help it seems that EVERYONE asks me, so it must have been on the manager's agenda that day. By the way, if you have a phone or are looking for a new cell phone, those are usually Best Buy employees -- those are outside companies that push their lines of products. So if your service isn't great in the phone area, that probably isn't on Best Buy, but on the phone carrier or phone brand you are searching for. Their customer service isn't the best either. You can place an order on-line for pick up and the website says it takes 1 hour before the part is ready. I can send a driver in 3 hours later and the part won't be ready. They will literally have 20 of the item I ordered on the shelf right next to them, but I can't have the order I placed because their system bites. Sometimes I need to change the name of who is coming to pick up the product. Have you ever tried calling the store? Yeah, it sucks too. You will wait on hold for 15 minutes. Literally. 15 minutes to call a retail establishment. Kinda makes you feel like your call isn't important. And it is like that every time I've ever called them. EVERY time. Not sure why that is. Product knowledge in the store is hit and miss also. Depending on the product you are asking about (let's use video games) the floor personnel seem to know what they are talking about. Televisions and sound are a whole other animal and all the tech talk they deliver on the planet isn't answering my question. Quite simply, find a TV with similar specs and then ask one of them why one is $800 more than the other. The literal specs in front of the TV will show that they are nearly identical, maybe an extra HDMI port for a difference or something, and you will every excuse in the book for why one is so much more expensive than the other. Nothing substantive, though. Best Buy really deserves a 2.5/5, but that isn't an option, so I am going to go a smidge higher just because I can go in and shop by myself and without any assistance and be in and out more often that not. It is an okay place to go -- and I use them out of habit more than anything else -- but there is lots and lots of room for improvement. And I'd start with answering the phone. read more

I rarely ever write review but I got screwed pretty hard here. I bought the new DJI Drone mini 3 here. The employee who helped me told me the Total Tech membership covered fly aways completely. I specifically told him I can buy the warranty from DJI, but he assured me that total tech covered it. Fast forward to me losing the drone I start a claim. Found out it was not covered. They were not willing to honor what the employee said, and I tried cancelling total tech for a full refund. Total tech denied the request because it was past due a certain time. They came to help install everything and later, when we had a minor concern, called them and they came out again. Always courteous, and had the situation fixed with understanding. We appreciate the young man named Erick who was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. In a heavily commoditized electronics industry where many companies compete for your business, the companies that provide sub par service eventually fail. Best Buy is a "dying-on-a-vine" retailer. Every time I give them a chance I'm sadly disappointed. If you want to choose a business where there employees are annoyed anytime you ask them to do their jobs, Best Buy is for you. EDIT - I realize this is really long, but is a review of a particular employee and the weirdness involved with my purchase. This review, which I'd happily post on the Best Buy website, oddly does not work when trying to post. This is also kind of a review of Best Buy as a whole because this started due to errors on their part, but those mostly got sorted out. I had a $100 rewards certificate to use by the middle of September. For some reason it disappeared from my account in August. I went to buy a laptop online and it was not there. After contacting customer support, five days later, my certificate was restored. Unfortunately, the product I wanted to buy was no longer on sale. I really needed a new laptop because my old one was on the fritz, so I ventured to the Springfield store. I found a lesser model of what I was looking for (a little $250 model), but couldn't find the one I was hoping to find (about $400). I asked one of the employees who was standing at the register, Jeff. It took a while for him to acknowledge me, but whatever, he was training a new person so no big deal. Finally, when he asked if I was doing okay, I asked if he knew where I could find, or if they had, the better model with the touchscreen of what I was looking at. He said "Sure! The better touchscreen model of that is right over here." He showed me over to the other side of the computer displays to a $900 model which looked completely different. What? Did he really try to upsell me 3-4x what I just asked about? That's ridiculous. I said "No, it just has more RAM and a touchscreen - this isn't it." Jeff said "Oh, it's not? This is the better model of that laptop." I said "definitely not, it looks just like that one over there." This is where I believe Jeff was just trying to take me for a ride the whole time because he instantly knew the exact specifications of the computer I was asking for. He said "Ohhh, okay. Little, black, cheap plastic? That one but with a touchscreen and 8 GB instead of 6 GB?" I said "yes, that's it." He kept going with "Only about 3 hours of battery life?" I replied "I guess." Jeff said "Yeah, it'll only last about 2 years?" I was starting to get irritated at this point and just replied "Yeah, I guess that's it." Jeff said "I think we have that, just wait right here." I waited and the new employee came over and started ringing me up. I still had no idea how much the laptop cost or really if that's what I even wanted to buy. I really felt railroaded and wasn't able to think about what I wanted to pay. There was a lot of confusion about whether or not the laptop's price included Office 365. I was asking questions even as my wife was processing her card. I really never instantly regretted a purchase like I did with this one. I actually made it out to the parking lot, turned around, and exchanged the laptop for the cheaper model - an extra few steps that I wouldn't have had to make if they hadn't been trying to make the sale and kick me out the door so quickly. The new employee was fairly pleasant, but she had some terrible employees training her. I hate to think what kind of weird predatory sales methods she was being taught by Jeff. This experience was really kind of disheartening and disgusting. I know Best Buy employees get credits for sales - that's fine. When I made a huge appliance purchase, I felt like the employee cared and tried to help me. Jeff just made the whole experience scummy and in combination with the issues I had with my certificate "disappearing" early, I can't bring myself to shop with this store or this company anymore. Say goodbye to an ElitePlus member who spent way more money at your store than justifiable. Hope you get your store sorted out because I really hate to think about the little old ladies that employees like this are pressuring into buying something way more expensive than what they need or came in for. read more

I went to Best Buy in Springfield Oregon this afternoon to pick up a dual USB car charger. They were none on display, so I waited for a sales person to ask if they had any in stock. After five+ minutes not one salesperson had stopped to help me. So, I went to the customer service desk and asked if someone could stop by car accessories to help me. She said someone would be there shortly and she called sales on their headsets. Another 5+ minutes passed and still no one had stopped to help me. Eventually, a salesman walked by while helping another person and asked if I had been helped. I said I had been waiting over 10 minutes and no one had helped me. He said he was helping another customer at that time, and he called sales on their headsets for assistance. Another few minutes passed and finally someone shows up. It was a store manager. He asked if he could help me. I said yes, and let him know that I had been waiting well over 10 minutes. He responded with a smirk on his face and the comment, "As you can see we are busy, but I am here now." He did not apologize for the lack of service and acted like he was doing me a favor. He was an arrogant little jerk with a logger beard who thought he was super cool because he was a store manager. I will say that he new where stuff was in the store and could help you find it, he was just and arrogant dweeb. There is more to the story than that, but I would just be repeating my self while I called out his continued lack of customer service skills and his complete arrogance. If he treats customers with such little regard, I can only imagine how badly he treats the people who work there. He has no business being a store manager. Because of the dweeb store manager it will be a long time before I step foot in another Best Buy. read more

I paid $49 for a replacement battery for my iphone 7. After the "geek squad" worked on my phone and put in the replacement battery the button on my phone to go to the main menu and do other stuff was broken. I never had a problem with the button until I took it to them. When they told me about the problem they didn't admit they did anything wrong and talked to me in an accusatory tone. They acted like they had caught me red handed stealing from them or something. It made me really angry and upset. They claimed that the button didn't work anymore because the screen was made by a third party and not by apple. I think they made that up to cover up their own incompetence. They also said that because it had a part from a third party they weren't allowed to work on it. What a scam! read more

My rating a few years ago would have been much higher than it is now. This store has gone downhill. I've never been terribly impressed, but this trip seemed worse than normal. I came in on Saturday because my husband managed to destroy his phone, and I needed to have the iOS re-installed on it. He was working, so I got babysitting duty on his phone. Happy day to start with. I come in, and I'm looking around because I have no idea where I am going. The first thing I notice is the 47 phone kiosk-looking areas in the store, with all the different brands. Seems more like a phone store with a few accessories in it. I'm walking around in there, clearly lost. Not a single employee says anything to me, as I pass them. One phone guy says hi, after I walked by him twice. Mostly because I think he thought he might get a sale out of it, not because he wanted to be helpful. He wasn't terribly sure where to send me either. So I was pointed in a general/vague direction. I go to the Geek Squad counter and make sure I'm in the right place. Daniel (I think?) is the one who helped me, as I had an appointment. He had to fill out 5 million tons of paperwork, just to take a phone and re-install iOS on it. Shouldn't be rocket science, but since my husband made the appointment, he had to change it all so I could pick it up for him, bla bla bla. Which is stupid, given I'm the one dropping it off. If I bring it to you, you give it back to me. I'm also his wife, therefore it is my god-given right to speak for him and do what I want with his stuff, and on his behalf. But I digress. So Daniel fills out all the paperwork, I pay him $40 to wipe and download iOS so my husband's phone will magically work again, and he will cease throwing a tantrum because he broke it. Great. Daniel tells me this process should take no more than 2 hours. I need to run some errands, so that works just fine. At the 4 hour mark, I finally called them back to find out the status, and if I would get the phone back before they closed that night. After 20 minutes of puttering through the phone tree and being hung up on twice, I finally get through to a real person. They say the phone is just about to be done, and want to know when exactly I'm coming to get it. Really? Like, I had to nail down a set time kind of demand. I've waited an extra two hours with no calls from them to even update me, and I have to give them a set time? Yeah, makes perfect sense to me too. My husband comes with me to pick it up, right before closing. We get it back, and he somehow thought that they could restore it back to the settings he had previously before he fucked it up by being impatient. Nope. Luckily, it had backed up to iCloud a couple days before, so it wasn't that big of a deal. But, he thought it would be restored to exact condition before he became an idiot. So I basically paid $40 for something I could have done at home myself. Not thrilled. Anyway, we walked around the store a bit. My husband wanted to look at video games. There wasn't much of a selection, and it was kind of hard to tell where each system's games were. Just looking around, I couldn't tell the difference between xBox games and PlayStation games, and there was very little selection of any. Usually, I look for the wall of green for xBox, and the wall of blue for PlayStation games. Not here. Which they used to have a much better selection, a year or two ago. Not sure why they downsized the video game section. Would I return? Probably not. It wasn't a bad trip, just boring as hell, sterile, and pointless. Review 70 of 2017. read more

AMAZING!! Josiah helped me pick out a new computer at the Eugene store and I've never had better customer service in my life! He was so knowledgeable and helped me pick the perfect computer for me. He answered all my questions (and I had a lot of them!) I left to see what computers other stores had and came back quickly because no one was able to answer questions and had knowledge about computers like Josiah. I have always been indifferent about Best Buy in the past but after my experience with Josiah yesterday I'm only going to be shopping at Best Buy in the future! Best Buy doesn't answer it's phones anymore so confirming any type of installation is a hot mess. 3 appliances and 3-screw ups getting them installed. The contract with local folks but you can't call them....you have to call a phone that isn't answered. We have lost 3 days of work to wait for installation only to be postponed, lost or cancelled. Spent $5000 on appliances. Lost another $1000 in lost work. Don't buy from Best Buy unless you want to run in circles trying to find where your items are and when they will be delivered. I had a similar experience to many other reviewers when I recently visited this Best Buy store: there was no one to help me at all. I had just purchased a laptop at the Duck bookstore on the UO campus, but I wanted to get a good all-in-one printer. I had some specific features I needed and I knew it'd cost big bucks (relatively so, for a printer). There were also a few laptop-related accessories I wanted to get. So I came here, enticed by the bright lights and jazzy lay-out of the store and beckoning gadgets on display. The store interior is large and I had no idea where the printers were. I wandered the aisles, looking for someone to direct me (a guy at a desk at the front door had told me that printers were "at the back"). Wending my way to the back of the store, I passed computers of every type and finally I came to the printer aisle. I needed someone to help me find what I needed! I walked up and down, looking for an employee, but the ones I saw were all with customers or appeared busy in some way, and no one was available. No one acknowledged me either, or said they'd be with me soon, or asked what I was looking for (even though I was obviously not sure where to go for what I wanted). I ended up spending nearly 15 minutes walking up and down the printer aisles, reading the specs on every printer there, looking for what I needed, trying to figure out the pros and cons of the various models and comparing those to others'. I'm not a tech-oriented person, so I was really out of my comfort zone. They selection was large and I was afraid to make the wrong decision. So after 15 minutes, I told my daughter, let's go next door to Staples to see what they have. We walked across the parking lot to Staples and had TERRIFIC customer service there, where a few guys approached me and asked if I needed help, and the department manager came to me to give me advice on specific printer models.... Long story short, I spent nearly $500 on a printer and accessories at Staples that I easily could have spent at this Best Buy, if only an employee had helped me out or acknowledged me. read more
