Best chinese I've had in Bellingham. Only issue is it's a little pricey and they dont deliver sadly

Delivery took 70 minutes to get here. Overall, compared to other Chinese restaurants in Bellingham, this is one of the best. Ordered the dinner for two meal, and an appetizer platter. Total cost was $34, and I think I definitely got my money's worth with the amount of food and quality. Only thing I didn't like was the almond chicken had breading similar to shake-N-bake chicken; not very good. The almond sauce looks exactly like egg yoke, but was actually pretty good. The General Tso's was about average. The sauce was already soaked into the breading, but it was surprisingly still crunchy, and pretty tasty. The fried rice had a lot of BBQ chicken and peas in it. The egg rolls and egg drop soup were the stars of this meal. The egg rolls are homemade! And very good. Compared to other Chinese in Bellingham, this is definitely better than most. Compared to all Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at, it was about average. I'll be eating here again because Bellingham has sub-par selections for Chinese food. I would recommend this place if you live in Bellingham. Pros: EXCELLENT egg rolls and egg drop soup; large portions; freshness level is high, everything seemed homemade. Cons: Delivery takes about an hour, so plan accordingly; Almond Chicken had shake-N-Bake breading. read more

Delicious Chinese food. Their chicken chow mein is excellent as is their honey walnut shrimp. Service dining in can be a bit slow so we always order our food to go. I am never disappointed. im not sure what all the fuss is about. maybe im picky having lived in japan 12 years of my life and eating real authentic chinese as china has a large influence in Japan. The lo mein was better than most places,my home cooked fried rice is much better than theirs...the rest of the food was good but not wow. i give 3 stars because it was edible but its no different than any other americanized chinese in my opinion. the service was good AFTER we waited a good 12 minutes to have our order taken while we were the only customers i felt this time was a bit lengthy. Sweetest people and the best deal on Chinese! Obviously not super authentic but you should really just go to Vancouver for that. Satisfying and huge portions, great vegetarian options and amazing honey walnut shrimp! I always crave their hot and sour soup! They deliver too which has saved me from several killer hangovers! I used to really enjoy their food but even better is the fact that they deliver. Now, the last few times I have tried calling to get their food, no one answers the phone. It goes straight to a message machine asking you to leave your name and number and they'll get back to you... they haven't. I've tried calling early (in the afternoon 4:30) and later in the evening (7:30) and at times in between, still no answer. Don't know what's going on with them, but if they don't want the business I'm going elsewhere. read more

Go here even if Dragon River can take you, it is excellent. I arrived at Dragon River 809 Chinese New Year, two tables were open, but they said they couldn't seat me or take a take-out order. I went to Best Chopsticks. Glad I did, top five best potstickers, good hot/sour soup, mu shu pork pancakes were moist and didn't break up. Large portions, friendly staff obviously a family business. BTW four women arrived at 842 to look at the menu and order takeout. They left at 859 with two dishes each. Take that Dragon River! read more

YUMMM: The BEST little secret in town... Chicken Chow Mein & Almond Chicken!!!

This is literally the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I always thought Best Chopsticks looked adorable driving by, seeing people inside looking happy and eating their food. One night we finally tried it. We ordered some fried spring rolls that were basically pure grease. The oil tasted rancid. I had one bite and couldn't eat anymore. We also ordered sweet and sour tofu. That was a bad mistake. Deep fried tofu cubes drenched in bright red disgusting sauce. The tofu also tasted of rancid oil. The only thing I could eat was the rice. My partner got a headache immediately after eating, probably from MSG. I unfortunately cannot recommend this spot. read more

I have tried this place twice. The food was ok both times. The second time my egg drop soup didn't taste right and 24 hours later I was violently sick. I had sweet and sour chicken with lo-mein, and egg drop soup. I really wanted to like this place, but after getting very sick after the second time, I have not returned. I Started with the sweet and sour soup (made with very fresh veggies) then on to the main plate - sweet & sour chicken, rice, egg roll....very large portions...had to get a "doggy bag". My first time to this restaurant, we waited over an hour and a half to get our food!! When we walked in loved the decor of the flowers on the ceiling. Sat down there were a couple tables that were not bussed with no one sitting at them. There was two tables in there with people eating. We got our menus, napkins with forks and tea cups. We ordered and waited then we got our tea then we waited even longer and finally got our soups. We finished eating the soup, waited, drank all the tea, got a refill on tea. We sat around drinking our tea, continued waiting, three other groups had walked in by now and were eating their soup, everyone was waiting for food. We finally heard some commotion coming from the kitchen, sometime later we got our food. When we got our food I ordered chicken and broccoli I chose white rice an egg roll and the egg drop soup (which I ate earlier). The egg drop soup tasted like cream of corn soup. The egg roll was so thin and didn't have much flavor, just tastes like oil. The rice was fried instead of white and it wasn't even fried, it was half white and half brown with veggies in it, no salt and bland. The broccoli and chicken was bad, the chicken was low grade and the consistency was like blubber, it was hard to chew almost crunchy (I did not finish it). The taste of the broccoli was good, so I just ate the veggies. We over heard one of the tables when the gal brought out their food that they had not even gotten their appetizer yet but they didn't want to wait any longer to get it. If was as if the whole kitchen went on break and just let us wait for our food till they felt like getting around to it. It was cheap for dinner, it cost $20.00 for both of our meals. First the good: the food is arguably the best Chinese in Bellingham however best is a relative term... The bad: there is a complete lack of professionalism or care when it comes to pick up orders... Last night the business was slammed and I called in an order for pickup... The waitress on the phone said they would be ready in a half hour... I showed up a half hour later and she said another 15 minutes... another half hour later and my meal has taken twice as long as it was supposed to... no discount not even sorry... really the waitress just said that she needed to get drunk too (super unprofessional) and told me I could take money from her tip jar (?) making me feel guilty... Now I have no problem with an order taking a long time on a packed Friday dinner rush... My problem is that they had only one cook working and one overwhelmed amateur up front who doesn't know the difference between a 30 minute order and an hour plus order and gets all frumpy when you ask her why... Guess the lesson here is order delivery if you can... Not worth it to go in at all read more

This is a reliable place to get an inexpensive lunch. The portions are quite generous--rice, soup, an egg roll or wonton and as the entrée for well under $10. The service can be a little slow. I work about a minute away and it sometimes takes my entire lunch hour. It helps if you know what you want when you walk in the door. I write a review here about our whole experience but ran out of room and this app deleted everything I wrote so I'll just leave at this, it was HORRIBLE...in all my years have never seen service this troubling. Over 70 minutes with two young children and only a handful of people in the actual restaurant and we still had not gotten any food, besides the soup that I had to beg for! Uber and take out orders obviously take presidence over actual customers inside...it was sad and miserably frustrating. We ended up paying for the soup and left still no food! Let me first say I thought the food was good, and it might be the best Chinese in Bellingham (not many great options for Chinese in Bellingham). We got the garlic shrimp and orange chicken, both were good. The only warning I want to give is for the delivery service. When I placed my order, we assumed it would take about 30-40 minutes (we live about 10 minutes away). I called after 50 minutes, and they said 45 minutes to an hour is normal. The food arrived in just under an hour. So I will eat there again, and perhaps even do the delivery, but just be aware the delivery can be very slow! read more

This is an interesting place. Can't quite figure out what it used to be. Almost looks like an old burger stand, like from the 1960's? If anyone remembers, message me because it's really driving me crazy. It has a cement floor, covered in a thin carpet and appears to have an old, open beamed, uninsulated roof and steel posts supporting it with plywood walls, like it was once open to the elements but then hastily enclosed. Tons of tender bay shrimp in a savory egg and vegetable asian frittata and smothered in a nice soy gravy, served with fried rice (nothing special), a nice fresh spring roll and a tangy Hot and Sour soup to start. The best Egg Foo Young I've ever had. My husband had Almond Fried Chicken. Pretty good as well. Served with the same sides as mine, the main entreé was huge. Two plump, juicy chicken breasts coated and fried to a golden brown and smothered in a creamy gravy and topped with a generous sprinkling of chopped almonds. Delicious and filling. Definitely going back to try some of their other offerings! Yummy! Service was fine. It must be a family enterprise because the server's kids were sitting across from us coloring and goofing off.
