I was really pleased with his professionalism. He has a soft touch and demeanor and he actually listens--so he followed my existing shape and then asked for my feedback when it was time to file and shape them. I'll be back in 2 days for my pedi. This was my second visit. The shop was LOUD! Everyone was talking loud. Techs and customers on their phones with the speaker! The shop wasn't clean. Paper and nails were on the floor! Techs were sitting down on their phones. Could have been cleaning up in-between clients. There was a used napkin on the station where I was having my nails done. I asked the tech to remove it. I was told I'll remove it later. I replied excuse me. Move it now or I'm leaving. The tech then asked: it's not yours? Lady how can it be mine. If I'm just walking in the door! I had a great morning pedicure experience. I tried to book an appt online but not sure if it went through. There's a computerized check in when you arrived. The place is clean and bright. The chairs have been updated to the black ones.. (some of the photos on yelp are outdated). I had no issues with getting exactly what i requested, a callus removal pedicure that took about 40 mins including nice add ons such as a warm eucalyptus infused towel and short massage. My technician had a short pixie haircut, wish i got her name! Not too busy at 10:30 on a weds, but glad to be going here on a routine visit. read more

This place has really gotten better! They have painted added new seats, stations, painted even a new modern sink etc! They have a huge display of new polish etc! First time I went it was a good place. However this past night 11/29/2021 there service was the worst I have ever received in the many years of getting nails done. Firstly, asked for a regular pedicure was told I needed "gel" because it last longer. When explained I don't the woman insisted I did. Quoted me 45 dollars for a pedicure and then they changed it to $35. My fill was completed in 15 minutes and one of my nails broke. I'm going back on this Saturday to complain. The lady told me that initially my feet would be $45, $30 for the pedicure scrub and then $15 for gel polish. As she was getting finished with my nails, she told me I owed her $50 and then changed it to $35 for the pedicure scrub and then $15 for the gel polish. Her colleagues kept telling her that she said something differently at first and she kept insisting that she didn't. So she does the scrub anyways and I pay $45 (because it was Mother's Day, she let me have it) but then an extra $5 for a tip. So I paid $50 total. Fast forward to this week. My nail chipped so I called and asked if they could fix it for me because it was such a hassle. They literally screamed at me telling me that they don't know who did me so they would not fix it. This is my 4th time coming here. It is ok. I don't really like the location. It is kind of cramped to me. I usually do not come here because there are other salons closer to me and I never like my nails after leaving here. This time was different though, I loved my nails. I decided to go for a pedicure and manicure(just polish). The price was moderate. The store was not crowded so my friend and I were seen pretty quickly. I was there for about 30 minutes at maximum. The only issue I had was that at the end my total was 30 dollars. I gave her 30 dollars in cash and told her to do 10 on my card. I did not realize until I was home that she did 30 on my card and also kept the 30 in cash. I called them about the situation and they were very helpful. It was a very cute and clean shop. The older Asian later is weird, she doesn't speak and she stands over people while they are working , it made me very uncomfortable especially during COVID when social distancing is vital. I'm not sure who did my feet and eyebrows but she was nice. I give my feet a 7/10 because my big toe wasn't an even length and the gel polish was not evenly coated. I give my eyebrows a -2/10. I have thick beautiful eye brows and I told her to clean them up she gave confirmation that she understood and proceeded to take more than 50% of my eye brows off and ruined the arch shape for one of them. I came to Best Nails on Saturday April 29th. This establishment is not clean. - I didn't see any technicians wash their hands between clients. - There were used utensils inside cleaning solution. - My technician didn't even open up a new utensil pack before trying to cut my cuticles and etc. - Why is this business still using drills? Drills are extremely harmful to nail beds. Overall I feel like nail salons like this solely exist in certain communities (mostly Black communities) to make quick money and not even provide QUALITY service to clients. It really bothers me that this place is not clean, uncluttered, and "spa-like". If this were Bethesda, Md and the majority of your customers were white women, your establishment would not look or even be ran this way. read more

Before yesterday, I had been having excellent experiences at this salon. Mike and Jennifer provided me with excellent experiences as they were doing my nails, and they came out excellently both time. Yesterday, I went in to get my nails removed and was placed at the station in the very front of the salon, furthest from the door. I failed to get her name, but the nail tech who removed my nails was violent, insensitive, and disregarded my suggestion of removing the nails a different way. I left the nail salon with two bleeding nails and a chip on three fingers. Early this year the weather was bad and I need of a quick pick me up, I decided to treat myself to a pedicure. Expecting "hood paradise" (because the patrons are a mix of Hillcrest elite and Texas Ave miscreants) I was elated that the place had made such a drastic transformation. They have completely renovated. The place looked amazing! Side bar: This assessment is only based on where it started; don't go in expected a Mandarin Orient experience; but the layout, color scheme, and service have improved. Speaking of layout, that awkward drying station in the front has been relocated. The waiting area is less obtrusive and the space has a more open feel which is a welcomed improvement, and the place is cleaner. With all that said and most importantly the service has improved, the workmanship is still there and its fast and reasonable. I've been back several times since. read more

So I love it here.The outside is not what you expect for a good salon. It has defiantly made a huge improvement. The prices have went up but still are the cheapest around. I go to Joe now for everything who has only been there for about year, but he is SOOO GOOD with my nails I might have to follow him if he decided to leave. Others have done my nails and they are also very well. The woman are much faster. The color choice and quality is great.
