But when it was clear that my father in law's…read more68 year old roof was ready to step down from service, I did what any reasonable person looking into a new roof would do. I reached out to 37 contractors at once. I know, I know. But hear me out. I did this with the mindset that all these people had to do was follow some simple instructions. They all got the same form letter which explained our circumstances, budget concerns, communication and availability preferences. I figured as long as everyone simply had basic reading comprehension, common sense, and common courtesy, I'd be able to quickly amass a wide selection of estimates, and go from there. Folks, let me tell ya...I was descended upon like white on rice. Ants to sugar. Bears to honey. Me to a fridge brownie at 3am during a diet. And so fourth. The form letter asked prospective contractors to email me directly. Most responded through yelp. That ruled them out immediately. I'm sorry, but when all I ask is to do the simple thing...and you start off by ignoring the simple thing.... The form latter specified I prefer to communicate via email rather than over the phone. Half immediately asked for my phone number urging for a call that very same day to "lock in a quote", and all the usual high pressure crap. They were removed from the pool too. Yes, just like that. If you find that unreasonable, I don't know what to tell you. People have preferences for a reason. And when they really aren't asking much of you in the first place, it stands to reason it's wise to abide by them in order to show someone you aren't dismissive of their needs. The form letter made mention that while we reside in location A, the home in need of work was in location B, which happens to be a 130 mile round trip. Needless to say, I wasn't going to meet up in person with 37 contractors. Or 27 contractors. Or 17, or even 7 if I could help with. Because *I* don't need to be there. I'm not a roofer, nor am I going up on the roof. Anything I need to know can be said or shown via email or text. It's 2026. My generation is terrified of phone calls. When it actually rings we throw it across the room and hide under the covers until it stops. Come on now. When the dust settled, only two companies remained. One of them was MGMP. I won't mention the name of the second contractor, and I don't want to specify the exact deciding factor between the two, because I don't want everyone reading this review to assume that our circumstances are applicable to them. I will just say that the non-MGMP finalist said that we needed to do something which would have put us severely over budget and put a halt to our effort altogether, while MGMP felt otherwise, and provided us with an option which was feasible enough to allow us to move forward, with the understanding that there *may* be additional expenses depending on what all is found after removing the roof altogether, but we could proceed from there. This was perfectly reasonable. I will admit, at first that felt like a red flag. But after speaking with Johnathan, I decided to trust him, because I have an overly sensitive BS meter and it was sound asleep, which is rare amidst these sort of circumstances. Once the roof was off, the only additional expense beyond our initial quote was $700 to cover some additional materials. I was expecting *much* worse, and was relieved beyond measure. Fortunately for me, MGMP has integrity, and is true to their word. Johnathan sent a series of comprehensive photos and videos showing absolutely all the trouble spots of concern, which he didn't even have to do. I never asked, but he did it anyway, just to be transparent. The whole process had them swoop in early 02/26/26 and they finished mid-day by 02/28/26. And this was not a rush job. Johnathan works with a small army who worked two FULL days (sunrise to sunset) and then some, as well as the time it took to wrap it all up on day three. He sent photos the day it was done, and the work looked immaculate. My father in law isn't doing so hot, and he's well into his golden years. As his time on this giant floating rock winds down, his only major wish and preference is to simply stay in his own home for as long as possible. His home needs a lot of love, and when it was clear we needed to look into a new roof for him asap, we honestly didn't think we'd be able to make it happen. Thanks to MGMP Construction, not only does he now have a new roof, allowing him to stay put doing internet genealogy and playing Peggle on his desktop to his hearts content, but he can stay *home*, where he feels safe. That means everything to him, and just as much to us. So to the team at MGMP Construction and to Johnathan in particular, thank you. You haven't just given someone a new roof, but peace of mind and a reminder that there are still plenty of good people out there, with businesses you can actually trust.

(Main bathroom demo, remodel, and closet addition)…read more After losing a deposit with a contractor who gave me a quote ranging from 80k-150k for a whole house remodel, it took 3 years before I felt comfortable enough to find a new contractor who would remodel one bathroom in desperate need. I'd contacted various firms: some felt my budget was too small and others didn't even call back. I was very cautious about the whole situation. I met with Sandra and Esvin to discuss what I wanted. I stopped by their showroom which was nicely done and that sold me on the quality of their work. Sandra was very knowledgeable and was able to help me narrow down the design based on what would pass inspection. She also laid out the law for me about when contractors could accept payments and how they're usually spaced out. I told her my budget and she was able to work with it. They even pulled the permits which the previous contractor wanted me to do! I worked a lot with Wendy who was super helpful with my endless questions-including input on design options. Since I wasn't working with an architect, designer, or even a floor plan, her accessibility was very helpful and reassuring. The proposal was laid out a la carte so there was a lot of flexibility in choosing my materials and removing elements I no longer wanted. The Vasquez crew is skilled and hardworking and the whole project was completed in about 2 months. The entire project stayed on budget with the only changes they proposed were fixing a section of the bathroom (which was an addition) that had been poorly attached to the main house (you could see through a gap to the outside) and budget increases were because of my own design choices (which I don't regret!). The experience wasn't perfect so it wouldn't be right to review it as such--but the issues I ran into were so miniscule that I don't feel it's even worth knocking down a star because they could have been easily resolved with more communication and questions from my end. There were a few small hiccups: -a doorway into the bathroom from the main bedroom that was initially proposed didn't fit so had to be removed from the design altogether. -The city didn't approve a light i had wanted to be installed over the tub and somewhere in excitement of a new bathroom I didn't get the message - the window I wanted had been discussed with Esvin, and was telephoned to Wendy so the one that arrived weeks after the initial conversation wasn't what I initially wanted but waiting on it would have been a 6-week delay and I chose to settle for the window that was available to keep the project moving. -the cleanup wasn't included. A plastic sheeting had been draped over my furniture but it was very light and while it kept a lot of dust away, there was still a lot of dust I had to clean up, as well as debris (tile bits, dust, buckets, etc.) in the side yard. As a first-time homeowner, this was my first true experience with a remodel and I am happy with the process and the outcome. I'm already planning out my other projects and look forward to working with them.
