    roach outside

stayed there at the end of june. roaches in my room, roaches outside, pillows smelt weird.

We booked a Queen Room with Two Queen Beds. When we moved our luggage in, we saw that there was a leftover Corona bottle on the chair by the desk. The room was spacious and beds were comfortable. The fridge and microwave worked well. There is also a complimentary breakfast that starts at 6 am, which is perfect, since we were already up at that time. It is located on the side of the lobby area where the check-in is.

We stayed here for 3 days, Nov 24-26-2025. Check in took a while with one family in front of us. So we helped our selves to some hot chocolate while we waited but it was cold. I took it to my room to warm it up. We had a ground floor room. It was quite, even though the parking lot was full with 70% work trucks. Lots of Pg&e and tree workers stay here. Unfortunately the pool was closed for the season. The star here is their buffet breakfast which is included with your room. It starts at 6am. The menu changes daily and they keep everything filled with fresh items. The ladies are so nice and work had to keep up with the morning rush with all the workers coming in to start their days. Its a big dining room so there's room for everyone. My favorite was their biscuits and gravy, it can definitely stand up to a great restaurants offering. So 5 stars for the breakfast buffet! We really appreciated a full hot breakfast early in the morning. We'd definitely stay here again.

Good hotel walking distance to lots of eateries in Jackson. Entrance to hotel is a little hidden on the back side of the main road. Room was clean when we got it. We got a 2 queen room, enough for family of four.

A bed bug found under the sheets. More poop was found between box spring and mattress

Bed bugs, and a quick internet search will show this has been a problem here since 2016. we did tell the hotel management and they did give us a new room, but when we lifted up the new rooms mattress we were greeted with more red stains. (Signs of a bed bug infestation). So we left. Unfortunately it appears that they are negligent when it comes to keeping these bugs at bay, there were no mattress covers on our mattress or any signs that they were trying to combat the bed bug problem they are having. They are renovating some rooms there, but won't matter much if they can't get rid of there infestation. I'd stay away from this location. Edit: the pool was also green (algae?) so most likely isn't getting the proper maintenance it should be. Swim with caution. Stay here if you must, but I would spend a few extra $ to get a nicer place.

National Hotel Jackson by Hilton, Jackson, CA…read more I'm staying here tonight in Jackson, California, at the National Hotel. It's an older motel-style property with a lot of history, and it shows in a charming, mixed-modern way. Historic charm + updated touches:** The hotel has kept its vintage character while updating as much as possible. You can really feel the history in the design, artifacts, and mirrored features spread throughout the building. The carpets are clean, I've walked on them with white socks and nothing is coming up or looking worn. Just one small smudge spotted, which isn't a big deal for me. Wi-Fi is Fast and reliable, which is great for staying connected for work. The front desk staff is amazing. Tamara, in particular, was kind, patient, and helped me check in my room smoothly. It's all-around excellent service. There are interesting artifacts and standout mirror features that add to the character of the place. Parking is across the street and you have to cross a small bridge. The parking is covered, which is nice, but the walk with luggage can be a pain for a solo traveler. I hoped for a larger bath to soak in, but the tub was quite small--barely fit. If soaking is important to you, this might be a disappointment. Some of the drawers are a bit beat up and hard to operate; they don't always slide smoothly back into place. Breakfast starts at 6:00 AM, which is rough if you need to be at work early (like me at 5 AM). A later start or grab-and-go option would be nicer for early-risers. Overall, I'd rate this place a solid 4 stars for the staff and the overall feel. It's a thoughtfully kept historic hotel that leans into its roots while still offering practical amenities like fast Wi‑Fi and clean rooms. If you're in Jackson for business or a short stay and can roll with the older-motel layout, you'll likely enjoy it. Tips for future guests It's old and creaky - light sleepers forget it. If you're solo and luggage-heavy, check in first and then grab a trolley. If soaking is important, you might want to set expectations for a standard tub rather than a soaking tub. If breakfast timing is critical for you, arrange a backup plan. Would I stay here again? Yes, for the staff, charm, and value. If you're drawn to historic hotels with character and solid service, this is a good pick in Jackson.

Of course the first slot machine we went to hit and we started up $300, which we essentially gave back as we were chasing the big win. A guy next us said 'It only takes one spin to win' and we took that a little too literally lol. We played a variety of the machines, but the most luck we had was with the Top Dollar Machines, the others weren't lucky this time around. While we only left up $30, we spent 3 hours of fun just playing away. Something I haven't seen at any other casino was a free soda and non-alcoholic drink areas! It's Pepsi products though, so not the best, but at least it's free. I saw people ordering smoothies, which looked really good but we never stayed at a slot machine long enough to get one. We came on a Thursday, and it was bummer that there was only (1) blackjack table going with a $5 minimum. I walked by multiple times and there was never an open seat. Plenty of seats of pai gow or poker though. Maybe it was just the time of day, but definitely would love to try my hand at blackjack next time around.

All I knew is they were pet-friendly, affordable and in a convenient location. When we arrived, it was better than I had expected. The grounds are beautifully maintained. There are several outside spaces to relax or have a bite with your group, and each room comes with its own front patio area with a private bench. There is also a volleyball net, horseshoe pit, grill, spit and plenty of lawn to enjoy other activities. There is also a creek at the back of the complex, which unfortunately dries up this time of year but I can imagine is very relaxing when flowing. Our room came with a queen bed, table and 2 chairs, refrigerator, air conditioning, cable tv, private shower and bathroom, pantry, and plenty of drawers and shelves. The motel is clearly on the older side and has plenty of character and charm, but it also is a bit worn. As it was very clean, I wasn't bothered by the "antique" look. There was one small issue. Bugs. As it was about 100 degrees outside, there were several small bugs sneaking in the air conditioner. Again, we weren't really bothered by this as the bugs didn't bother us and we woke up the next day bite free. It must be noted that the owners of the Motel (which should change the sign on the side of the road to "Inn") were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a small issue with our dog and the curtains, and they were more than understanding and appreciated the fact we alerted them and offered to pay for the damage. I would stay at this location again in a heartbeat. It was a wonderful experience. 4.5/5

I will say that I was very disappointed in this place from start to finish beginning with the check-in of my friend. We traveled into town for a special occasion and he happened to be checking in a day before me. I went with him so I could scope out the area and get familiar before I check in the following day, and I was honestly so disappointed. I made a comment to the front desk that I would be checking in the following day later in the night and asked if I could have a room that's relatively close to his for safety reasons, but the person checking him in said that all rooms were near each other since there's only 2 floors... For a place that has a sign that says if we need anything to feel more comfortable to let the front desk know the attitude and response of the front desk really threw me off. The room he was given was located on the first floor; once you opened the door the entire room smelled like mildew and cigarette smoke. We literally had to open the windows both in the room, and the bathroom, along with the front door and blasted the AC on to get some of the smell out. Well, this place does provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a bar of soap, and a toothbrush, please note that they do not provide body wash. The room does come with a mini fridge, but please be aware that if you sit at the little office desk that they have in the room, it might go down. I sat on it and was waiting for him and then it abruptly drop me down multiple times. I didn't get hurt, but I just think it's something people should be aware of just in case. There was some staining on the singular chair that was in the room, along with the bedsheets. The room I was given was on the second floor, which was a little bit better in terms of scent, but not much better as a whole. Keep in mind that there's no elevator here, but there is a staircase so if you have heavy luggage, plan accordingly. There was some staining on the wall, a black mark on the shower curtain, the bathtub was dirty, and the sink made weird noises when I was running the water to brush my teeth. I should also note that two of the towels that were in my room ready for use had small stains on them. There is a chair outside of each room on the first floor and every single door on first and second floor has an ashtray outside so just be aware that this place heavily smells like cigarette smoke. If you just need a place to get in and out this place will get it done for you... But if you're used to and prefer a little bit more comfort, try somewhere else. Breakfast is very limited and runs out very quickly.

The carpet had large stains, and there was even a worn/used sock left on the floor when I arrived (see photos). Even the bathroom toilet paper roll was almost used up when I checked in. On top of that, the furniture looked extremely worn out. The bed and sofa both looked old and noticeably sagging, which made the room feel run-down rather than comfortable. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this was not acceptable. The room felt dirty and poorly maintained, and I would not recommend staying here.
