I say this as a guy who has cracked ribs, 1 divorce, 2 kids, and several state-to-state moves. My car was totaled-out while hail repairs were being done, leading to State Farm needing a refund for work not done. What happened next was easily close to 50 hours on the phone over 4 months. These idiots could not figure out how to mail a check to State Farm. The postal service wasn't their jam. "Lost in the mail" "We had a guy that did it..." "got stolen" (north of the 10k reporting max? Sure. Whatever.)Until this point, I thought they were trying some sort of 'conversion' to hang onto the deposit State Farm gave them before my car was totaled. There was no way anyone could be this dumb, and it had to be on purpose. 4th (alleged) check is a charm, and...it gets lost at/within State Farm. I finally talk to a real human at State Farm (you know how hard it is to get to this point?!) and he says, "I've...never seen anyone do this. They just sent the check to general claims. No claim number on it. Nothing. Of course it got lost." Checks allegedly sent without tracking (who sends anything without tracking?!), callbacks never returned, that indefinite feeling that if it takes 4 months for them to get money back to state farm, why not 6...8 months. I'm never risking a bodyshop again.

He even did the hidden spaces in the trunk to make sure there was no dog hair anywhere (there was a lot). I couldn't find a dog hair anywhere. My car looks showroom new after two years of use. Which tracks because Brett worked at car dealership for years doing this exact thing. He knows the best products and techniques to get your car looking amazing. And, he's a great guy. They allowed us time to decide if it was worth fixing and were creative about getting the costs to something more affordable but ultimately I agreed to have all but one item fixed. Their willingness to work with me on it really sealed the deal. I never felt pressured one way or the other and researched the prices of each repair item and they were market value. I really appreciated that I wasn't given grief for wanting to fix this old beauty instead of calling it quits and also appreciated their confidence in doing this amount of work to make it like new. Most importantly, the repairs were done right without gimmick and they're under warranty! This Christian Brothers Automotive is thorough and the final cost was reasonable compared to the quote (slight increase from what looks like parts being a tad more than anticipated). I had a timing code on my wifes VW due to neglect, mostly on my part. The whole 2 qts that was in there was really dirty. Tried adding oil and clearing the code, but it kept coming back, misifiring out the wazoo. So I let the car sit. After about a month of pondering what to do, sell it for parts, scrap it, swap it.. Eventually decided to throw a dart in the dark, had it towed in, spoke with Hardeys and explained the situation. Guy called me the next day with great news, as we avoided catastrophic failure. They ended up fixing it for under $1500. Finding a shop that is honest, wont try to convince you that you need a new engine is unlikely these days, unfortunately. Especially when that is the conclusion youve come to yourself. My only complaint is they wont work on my other (domestic) vehicles because theyre not German Honestly, thank you guys so much.
