I have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years, usually 3-5 times a year, and unfortunately the experience over the last 3 years has gone downhill significantly. I rarely ever write reviews, but this one is well deserved. To start, the front desk staff lately has been very unfriendly and unpleasant. Customer service used to be one of the reasons we kept coming back, but now it feels like guests are an inconvenience. Another ongoing issue is the pool and jacuzzi. Every time we stay, there always seems to be something wrong with one or both of them, and the problems never seem to get fixed properly. Breakfast used to be one of the highlights of our stay, and while the food itself was still good, the service was terrible during a busy weekend. You would think the staff would keep the food containers stocked, but that was not the case at all. My son actually had to give me some of his food because the breakfast containers sat empty for over 30 minutes before being refilled. As a long-time loyal customer, it is disappointing to see how much this place has declined. Sadly, I highly doubt we will be staying here again. Something needs to be done, and I plan on reaching out to corporate to report the issues that have been happening lately at this property. read more

It was filthy, the water smelled horrible, the faucets were reversed in the shower, the furniture was falling apart, the sheets were stained, the bathroom contains the toilet and shower only with barely enough room to close the door, an the sink is in the room (not the bathroom) so anyone wanting to turn on the light to use the sink will wake up the other guest. Clean room, you still get small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, & lotion. No bathtub in my disabled person room. There were 3 electronic equipments, coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. None were plugged in. I found a wall socket for 2. You have to make a hard choice which 2 you want going. The A/C didn't have a setting to keep fan blowing, so if you are sensitive to sounds, you should bring a white noise maker. Shower was not cleaned well. I took a picture. But i liked the breakfast! Actually scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, thin but still real bacons, mixed with vegetables potatoes. TWO different waffle makes, one big kind and another that makes 4 mini waffles. kids would love that. Yogurt with toppings. And the lady who works there does her job very well. read more

Ok, i read the reviews after checking in and spending the night so I will address some things I saw. I did not see bugs. Thank God! Breakfast was surprisingly varied, coffee, juice, tea, milk, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, soy and cow options. Make your own large Waffle or mini waffles, yogurt bar, eggs hard boiled or scrambled, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cereal-3 choices, wood variety of bread, bagel, muffins, and a toaster, and fruit. You can not go wrong with the food and frankly eating out is expensive so this is a huge savings especially for families. The night person was not rise to me or anyone that I saw, in fact kudos to her I was annoying! 2 in my party went up before me and fell asleep. I thought I was in 227 not 237...hahaha. I knocked and knocked and then went down for a third key....she gave it nicely. Then when the key didn't work I went back down to verify my room number, smh yeah I was wrong but she was still polite. Thank you customer service! I did like the soap and shampoo they provided. Only 2 comments direct tv in room had issues and only 5 news stations worked. We're in our 70s. Made reservation 2 weeks Prior to our arrival and pd for. We Recently moved from Ehernberg Arizona where this motel is. Had not changed our driver's license yet to california. We get there. And we're told they will not rent to us because we are from Ehernberg. Humm should of told me when I made the reservation. This is Discrimination against the people from Ehernberg. I have never heard of Hotel haveing such a policy. This is near a truck stop. But use your Common sense. We look like grandma and grandpa. Not a pimp and his hooker. Which was combined 2 Dogs 40 pounds. When I told her I did not meet that requirement she refused my paid reservation and told me I could contact Expedia to get a refund. With the old reviews on this platform, I'd like people to not ignore this quant hotel. It's right off the highway with a gas station and Wendy's nearby. The gas station has many necessities in case you forgot something! The hotel itself is clean and well furnished. It has a working fridge/freezer, microwave, Ac unit, and bathroom. There are plenty of towels too. The tv works really well and has a good variety of channels. This is a good option! read more

Fist of all the guy on nights was a real rude prick. I reserved a room for the 8th of November, so that I could get about 4 hours sleep. I go in and get told they won't rent a room after 4 am. And would not rent until 3 pm that afternoon. Well it was only 3 am local time. So the point is never use hopper to book a room. Also I'm out a 124.00 dollars. At least at this point n time. I never got my room. I had to go down the road and found another hotel, which is owned by the same corporation. Which by the way the Best Western / Desert Oasis the night clerk. You're so much smarter than me because you're here checking reviews before booking. How I wish I had done the same. Usually I do, but I was tired after having driven 13 hours, and this was the place right next to the Tesla chargers. But here's the thing, there's so many other perfectly fine hotels in this area, a few fine establishments in Blythe, etc. There's NO REASON to use this hotel. Now save yourself the time and go book elsewhere, if you want the deets read on. --- After a 13 hour drive I check in to my room, and not 5 or 10 mins later a giant bug is crawling on me. This disturbed me and thought it might disrupt my sleep thinking about it so I thought I'd just swap out the room, since I hadn't used anything. This is a normal every day sort of thing any normal hotel would be happy to do. They refused, said I could wait for the manager and maybe get a discount. So I checked out and left and stayed at Holiday Inn Express in Blythe (go for it, they're great). Next morning I showed up hoping for some good will from the manager but got none. She had no accountability for the lack of service I received and pretended to have no agency in refunding me... made it sound like this would be a battle with Expedia as the mediator. I don't have the time and energy for a battle, but I did have the expectation of some good will from the manager and got none. I don't know how they can stay in business like this. They have a warning saying you can't stay there if you live within 25 miles, I guess to avoid being the workplace of ladies of the night... with this kind of abysmal offering to weary travelers, they should just embrace this other business model to stay afloat. read more

We checked in at 9:40pm on a Friday as our half way point to Gilla River. The reviews were decent ON GOOGLE HOTELS as per my husband(!) and I had a certain level of expectation for $130. The check-in was as lightning speed and the orange from the check-in basket was nice & non-blemished. The beds and linen were clean, there was paint splatter on the ground in the bathroom but it was clean as well. For whatever reason there was an uneven patch by the front door-bathroom which was overtly more spongier than the rest of the room. The ceilings were average height and I could hear the upstairs family watching tv & the kids jumping up and down. The fridge motor was super loud but only until it hits the target temperature. I'm glad I put everything in right when we got there as it went on for over an hour; all my items were in a cooler too! As a light sleeper this was not a good sign for a restful night. I check in on Yelp and see this hotel has 2.5 stars. :( But we've already committed to this. Next morning... Cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, juice (apple, orange, cranberry, kiwi strawberry), eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, bread, bagels, oatmeal (and toppings), yogurt, etc. The pancake machine was down but the waffle maker was up and running. The worst experience ever!!!! My husband and I stayed the night. In the morning unfortunately our vans starter went out. We were stuck there trying to get the van fixed and the girl at the front desk would not let me use the ladies room! She said it was only for guests. This business canceled my reservation due to a planned power outage and did not bother to notify me. I showed up at 11pm after an 11 hour drive. The clerk was rude, incompetant and unsympathetic. She was not apologetic, did not offer to help me find other arrangements and could not tell me where I might find another hotel. I finally found a room in a nearby town and managed to get a few hours sleep before my big job interview the next day. It has been a week and I have not received a refund. I will soon be a local professional in this town and I plan to share my experience with all my new acquaintances and other business professionals. read more

Sad to have to leave this review. They put us in a pet room and we have NO pet. flooring was tile! YUCK! who wants to put their feet on a tile floor. on first night all you could smell was skunk (weed) and it would come under our door. There was absolutely zero water pressure to take a shower. Dont mind trying to run bath water cause the stopper wouldn't work either. This hotel use to be so nice and we have stayed here on numerous business occasions. Pool and hot tub were not cleaned and ready for use. Also two housekeepers were talking about how a room got broken into, in spanish. Now all this combined will have us drive the couple more miles into Blythe to stay at the Hampton on our business trips. I advise everyone who reads this to do the same. read more

Booked a room with a king bed and a sofa bed- it was a not sofa bed only a sofa, we were three adults and needed two beds. Martha (front desk person) called the manager "Beatrice" who was not on site and she refused to talk with me directly about changing the room!! It was a very busy weekend due to event in town and no other rooms were available. So we were stuck. We offered to pay for the other room. Then we were told it was no longer available!!!! She gave us extra blanket, one towel, and a pillow with no pillowcase, no wash cloth. I walked backdown and she was telling a walk in person she had a room with two queen beds available- she lied to us!!!! The refrigerator made lots of noise- had to unplug, the door in the bathroom wouldn't close- the hits just kept coming- No customer service, no warm and fuzzy feeling at this hotel!!! If I could rate it lower trust me I would. They charged for every guest even when sharing a room and would not let us check out without putting a 24 hr notice in. Their keys are trash. Constantly getting declined every day. They would not make the rooms up unless you were staying for more than a week. Walked into our room and got hit with a mildew smell. A/c wouldn't keep cold. Rooms were hot. If you like water pressure don't go here cause they ain't got it. Crackheads all over the parking lot. We stayed at this property on 6/30/23 on the way from Portland, OR to Tucson. We were moving and had our dog and cat with us and picked this hotel based on 'pet-friendly'. This hotel is certainly 'pet friendly'. That actually best describes the property. We were given a room on the first floor, which was helpful. Our room was at the end of a hallway with a door to the parking lot. The sign says 'use room key for entrance, etc'. We did that repeatedly as we're moving our things into the room. The door isn't locked. It's open 24 hours a day. I asked the front desk 'why do you have a sign if you never lock the exterior side/back doors?'. Answer: we have cameras. Ok. Our room was located steps from this open exterior door. The door jamb on our room looks like someone had used a crowbar to open it - several times. (the photos don't do the damage justice) You can see light through the jamb. The jamb is so racked we couldn't use the deadbolt. When checking out, I reported these problems to the front desk. His response was that if the guests would just let them know of these issues... I said well, the last couple dozen guests should have reported it as that damage has been there a long, long time. The photos kind of sum up what kind of room you'll find at this property. The carpets are threadbare (the bath towels are so thin you could almost call them threadbare as well) and it sports 'very aged' suspended ceilings. Also, don't take a close look at your bed's box spring - you'll worry less. I guess one of the 'pros' would be having a Flying J gas station and a Wendy's literally in the parking lot. You get used to the engine type noise, but it's those late-night car alarms that really suck. It was a very hot day, so not sure if that contributed to this problem, but the south entrance (where our room was) there was a very, very strong smell of sewer. Naturally, there appears to be a sewer cleanout/access hatch right at the entrance to the doorway. Naturally. The A/C units try to filter that smell out, but you kinda get refrigerated, sewer gas piped into the room. Epic. Summary: This BW property really sucks. It's worn out. Don't get sucked into the 'it's a BW, it must be good'. It's not. It's a place to 'sleep' in the desert - so you get what you get, but the options in Palm Desert would have been better. It got a '1' only because I don't have an option to rate it lower. read more

Meth heads all around looking to break into cars, boats, trailers or whatever you have. The worst hotel experience ever, and I grew up in San Bernardino area. Fuck this place. It makes me wonder about the upper management for Best Western in general for allowing this to happen. Staff was great though. Staff should not be placed under pressure to be security at this location. Pillows were lumpy as me making mashed potato's drunk too. Priced way to high for a shitty location with a surrounding area drug addict problem. I'd consider other options than this for sure. read more

this place is straight out of a horror movie. The location is right next to a mega gas station....cars everywhere. The hotel does not lock its outside doors. My room key didn't work. Tried three times. Finally got another room and they put me in a smoking room. All this took 1.5 hrs and I finally had to try to cancel and go to another hotel after they refused to cancel, even though they never gave me a room that had a lock or that was non-smoking. And they argued and fought with me. Hideous. DO NOT GO. Go somewhere in Blythe instead Should have ZERO stars Addendum: Dec. 2. After all the hassle and the insecurity and appalling conditions, I asked for a refund. The clerk said he gave me one and gave me a receipt. I then went down the road to another hotel. But, as deceitful as this BW hotel is, the immediately charged me anyhow AFTER SAYING THEY REFUNDED ME. I contacted Booking.com, with whom I booked, and sent them the receipt, but Beatrix, the BW manager, just LIED, and said that I'd broken the hotel rules, that their hotel was perfect and that there was NO REFUND. So I paid for a terrible experience in a skanky hotel in which I did not stay or use any facilities. This is, btw, in violation of FEDERAL consumer protection laws....If a customer feels unsafe and/or uncomfortable they can ask and must get a refund. Not only engaging in illegal charging practices (and lying), they are in multiple CODE VIOLATIONS.....the exterior doors were unlocked during the day, and as multiple reviews have noted, this area is full of weirdos and crack heads. it is not secure. Top that with room keys that don't work....this also is documented, although Beatrix denies this (i.e. lies). Stay AWAY....NEVER GO HERE. My boyfriend needed an appointment with the DMV before his birthday and he could not find any openings anywhere near where we lived. The closest and soonest available was in Blythe, California. We decided to make a mini overnight trip out of this event, and found a place to stay reasonably priced and close to Blythe. Now, I'll be honest. When I stay in hotels, I tend to gravitate toward the Hilton brand hotels. Best Western isn't on the same level, so I go into a stay with a different level of expectations, as I have stayed at quite a few Best Westerns over the years. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who made the check-in process simple. It was easy to find our room. The room had all of the basics you would expect at a Best Western. It was clean, though the room had signs of an aging building and it wasn't quite level. They offer a complimentary breakfast, which worked excellent for my boyfriend. I am vegan and gluten-free due to food allergies, so there were not many choices available for me for breakfast. There was some fruit, but it didn't look good so I didn't eat any of it. I went into breakfast fully expecting this and ate the food I brought myself. It's not a problem as I am used to this when we travel. I am always hopeful though! Overall, a decent experience and it was exactly as we expected it to be. It worked quite well for our last minute mini DMV adventure. We would stay here again if the need presented itself. read more

Another solid Best Western stay for me. I've had a few over the last year. This one is clean and about as sound proof as you can get. Even though it is right off I-10, I could not hear any noise from the outside in my room. Guest laundry was reasonable. 1.25 to wash and .75 to dry. They did have a full breakfast, but the pancakes from the pancake machine were rubbery, and the scrambled folded egg thing was iffy at best. Skip the breakfast for sure or just grab a piece of fruit or a danish. They do have those too. They also have a nice business area to print stuff and check email, etc. I read some other reviews about this place not being clean. This was not my experience. Overall our stay was great!! It was quiet, near the flying J, just a few minutes outside Blythe! Aside from a few minor things like the ceiling fan needing to be cleaned and the door on the bathroom being a little hard to close, it was great! The hot breakfast was pretty damn good for a hotel breakfast!!! They had biscuits and gravy, waffles, hot oatmeal, cereal, and so much more! There's a microwave (a little dated) and a fridge so cold our drinks starter to freeze (not complaining)! The beds were comfortable, and the shower pressure was relaxing! Staff was good. Breakfast was lacking. Pool looked kind of dirty but it was off season -- winter. I'm not sure there was an elevator, I couldn't find it. I was driving back from Grand Canyon and this was a good half way point back to LA. This town doesn't have much to offer but it was close to Lake Havasu City enough (about an hour) and Parker. the smell of the wastewater treatment plant was so overwhelming that you would not be able to use the pool upon check-in in the lobby it was also disgustingly horribly the smell .... Alright so I'm usually not one to write bad bad reviews but this motel isn't great. It's better than the Super8 in Quartzsite but not by much. We have a bunch of coworkers staying here and a few have had problems. Some have rooms that smell like mildew and one had an AC unit that didn't work. Mind you, it's been 112 degrees F. Despite only getting three stars, this place actually restored my "faith" in Best Western's somewhat. Last year I had booked an entire vacation in Best Western's, five different hotels. Four out of the five were below average, and one was utterly abysmal. But the Desert Oasis here made me feel better about the chain again. Everything here was as I expected. I was looking for a comfortable place to "park my carcass" for a few hours, and this place was it. It was clean, friendly, and got the job done. I still think $70 a night is too much for a hotel at this level, and I have told them that via their website several times. But it seems that I am behind the times in terms of hotel rates. Anyway, bravo to the staff at the Desert Oasis for giving me a clean, comfortable, and stress free night before I hit the road again the next day. Just a couple of oddities... the ice machine is coin operated. Since when do hotels charge for ice these days? Boo on you. Given that this motel is situated between a Flying J Truck Stop and the J's huge neon sign I didn't have high hopes for what we were going to find. On the flip side, we knew they had rooms for $65 and, quite frankly, we were exhausted and willing to put up with just about anything that wasn't infested or life threatening. Based on those low standards, the BW (which is now called the misnomer "desert oasis," rather that the supremely accurate "flying j") scored high marks. The staff was perfectly nice in our limited interactions; the room appeared to be quite clean; the bed didn't kill my back; and the blackout curtains actually did their job, despite the dual challenges of neon and gas pumps. My only main complaints were the fridge was unplugged when we got in, and was thus rendered useless, the bagels at the free breakfast were god awful (which I expected, but one has to try), and-- to echo a previous reviewer-- the shampoo etc (I conveniently forgot mine at home) was crap. But really, if those are my biggest complaints about a motel located in the middle of the desert at a truck stop, I think I'm doing pretty damned well. read more
