And if that happens, your building will close and rot away, and eventually the desert sands will blow and build a giant dune over the property like you were never there. Well, I don't know if that's in BB's future or not. Seems like there were quite a few trucks in the parking area when we stopped last time heading through Blythe, but inside made me wonder if I somehow traveled through a mini-wormhole to a grocery store in a communist country. The place was pretty barren and devoid of anyone who knew how to smile. The restrooms? Yeah, you're in a place that reaches 120° F in the summer, and the flush is pretty much broken, if anyone bothered to use it anyway. George Clinton did a lot more for "P Funk" than this place did, let's just leave it at that. I don't know, man... what was I thinking? There's a Valero next door, so maybe this place's days are numbered.

There were a few gas stations in Quartzsite, just off I-10. The Pilot Rest Stop got our attention as gas was $2.79/gallon, compared to nearby competitors that were advertising $2.99/gallon. While there are quite a few pumps, the fuel area was congested as the good gas prices attracted a lot of drivers. The diesel pumps were separate and were not as busy. We did not go into the Pilot convenience store nor the on-site Taco Bell.

A nice spot to stretch your legs, walk your dog , or answer nature calls. There a couple picnic tables and park benches available and at the westbound location a gazebo that I'm guessing once held a picnic table. If you're road weary and needing a nap if you're a light sleeper you should bring earplugs or consider another location, as the I 8 provided a lot of road noise. Over all I do reccomend this Roadside rest. Both East and West Bound are good. I've had sleep over stops at both locations while on different road trips I've taken. I've never encountered any problems at either location.

Disgusting. Noisy. No shade…read more I stopped for a quick nap and did not like this rest area at all. I hope it's not a sign of how bad California does highway rest areas! First, no shade. Okay, that's livable if you can park at the right angle. I was able to line up with the back doors into the Sun so it didn't get hot inside. Second, no deceleration ramp. People we're zipping into and out of this rest area and that's an accident waiting to happen. Third, it was noisy. Right next to the highway with no barrier from the road. Loud trucks going past and some of them using their engines to break. Not a good experience. After the nap, I thought I might use the restroom. It was disgusting. Papers on the floor, graffiti and worst, unflushed toilets full of waste. Do yourself a favor and drive a few miles west to the Love's Travel Stop. Big parking lot, clean bathrooms, a much better experience.

Parking is ample enough for 18 wheelers, cars, trucks with boats, motorcycles and RV's. The bathrooms were clean, well-stocked, with individual bathroom doors that locked and had bleach disinfectant. Shaded park overheads over benches. Easily accessible and usable for manual and motorized wheelchairs. Easy ramp to enter away from the highway and to enter safely onto the highway. Most notable is a Blue Star Memorial Highway to pay tribute to the nation's armed forces.

I reported the lack of hot water the first morning and was told they would have the maintenance person inspect and diagnose the issue the following day. That evening still no measurable hot water. (Warm at first then cold quickly). I called and complained the second time. I was told that it's a "known" problem and the hotel has a "problem " with sufficient hot water when the hotel is full.??!! The next morning a customer told me he was told the hotel has had this known problem for at least the past 6 weeks. I told the female desk clerk that this was unacceptable and I would be filing a complaint with their Corporate office and she hung up on me. Great customer service. (And we paid the full price for 6 nights). We were forced to take cold showers nearly every day. Frankly I believe they are lying and simply have an inadequate water heating system. They use "boilers" and not on demand heaters. They should use on demand heaters ~ period. They instead chose to save money at their customers expense. I am shocked and appalled at how poorly this hotel is managed and maintained. I will never stay here again nor any Hilton affiliated chain hotel and neither should you.
