If I would've read the reviews, I wish I would've read them now, I decided to put my stay there as well due to the timing and situation. I needed a last-minute room. It was 3 AM. Sunday morning I was calling around for hotels for my 80-year-old grandfather. I finally found him a room. It was here upon arrival. They told him card only he only carries cash. He called me and told me that they cannot do cash when I got there. I had minimal questions about Apple Pay and putting his ID on the room my grandfather because he was the one staying there, not me. The front desk guy, Daniel then became irate he began shouting to leave the hotel, and the police were on the way. As I was helping my grandfather, exit the hotel because he was very slow due to his age. I hear Daniel telling the police that I was a prostitute and on some type of substance. The police show up search my car because he told them I was on a substance. interrogate my 80-year-old grandfather after they say that there is no crime being committed. They end up, leaving us telling us that they don't want us at the hotel. We were not doing anything illegal for them to call the police? The police informed us that the area is always getting the police called there and very known for prostitution. This was the most embarrassing situation I think I have ever experienced in my entire life. I have a meeting with my lawyer to see if I can settle for this because the accusations and calling the police without committing a crime the audacity and disrespecting his elders. I could not believe my eyes. I would never have stayed at a best Western, but due to the circumstances, I feel like it was my only option, but l am glad I didn't work out because I would not have even wanted my grandfather staying somewhere of this capacity. read more

I am traveling the country right now on a budget so I have a large back packing back and it's August so it's pretty hot. I also am enjoying this trip with my dog a well behaved 9 1/2 year old rescue boxer mix named moose. So I acknowledge I arrived in an uber early disheveled hot, sweaty, and tired. I was meeting a friend who had gotten the room for me but wanted to get my dog out of the heat and allow her to rest. When I walked in just like every other hotel I've stayed in I was approached with a look of disdain. I explained my friend would be coming shortly. She asked the name on the reservation but since it was my friends I was unable to provide the last name. I was told I couldn't wait inside. I said no problem and went outside to wait patiently for my friend. I then had another gentlemen come out to tell me that his manager had told me to leave (untrue) I was treated as hostile though I was simply attempting to be understanding but needed relief from the heat. I was made to wait around the corner on the side of the building in about 3 feet of shade. My friend arrived and got the room. I went in a side door and not the front door. I had an uneasy stay as I felt very unwanted as a tired traveler. The bed was nice and room comfortable. I understand my shortcomings in not having the reservation in my name and being a tired traveler but i felt quite unwelcome and uncomfortable. I didn't even want to leave the room for breakfast and worried if they saw me I wouldn't be able to get back into the room to retrieve my belongings. read more

Bug!!! There was a roach when we checked in killed it. Then next morning another roach on the floor killed it. When out for the day and a roach on my pillow as I was laying on it!! Tried for another room nothing available it was F1 race weekend. Promised the room was cleaned. Next day good then Saturday morning while drinking my coffee a roach ON MY CUP. In my years of traveling, this has got to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Poor customer service. Rude employees and didn't have my room cleaned for the my entire stay of 5 days. And every time I had to go to the front desk to ask for my room to be cleaned but to no avail. Weird white cum stain looking residue on my mini fridge counter, a fake phone? WTH is going on here, broken fixtures galore. In an area where you are likely to be shot and robbed. DO NOT STAY HERE. ON GOD. I woulda given it negative stars if possible. we had 3 rooms in early July due to my Mom passing away. if you dont get to breakfast by 8:15 dont expect to eat. the room two doors down had two dogs that were left alone that barked until 2am ish. management would not address. my father made reservations again for my moms celebration of life one month later. he paid for two nights upfront. I called to see if we could arrive one day early. that afternoon prior to our arrival I experienced an issue with my vehicle that had to be taken care of the next day so we could travel. I called the hotel to let them know I was not able to arrive on aug 2nd and would arrive on the 3rd which was the original arrival date. i was not told that I would be responsible for Aug 2. upon arrival on the 2nd I was rudely informed that I had to pay for the night we did not use due to auto issues. I completely understand hotels rules for cancellation. in all my years I have never been charged for late arrival when I have called in advance and still checking in. much less for having automobile issues trying to drive to my mother celebration of life. I'm completely spent on the lack of grace and consideration. honestly this isn't about the money. it's about the leadership and values of this organization. my father paid for two nights for 5 rooms for two nights for family. none of us will ever patron this hotel again. read more

For a Best Western PLUS I expected more in terms of cleanliness and presentation. Our room was a little dirty, and our bathroom, I have no idea what was going on in there. It seemed they had painted over a potential leak and we found black spotting all over the ceiling and wall. Looked like the beginning stages of fungi or potential mold. Just dirty, and did not look clean as we found hair in the tub as well. We also had a random employee just walk in without knocking a little bit after arrival. Yes, we forgot to lock the door, but for an employee to just come in without knocking. Not hospitable. Overall we weren't impressed for a PLUS, seemed like a 2 star place, and that's what im giving it. A little disappointed. read more

So far, I have stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions in the past four months. I'm generally frustrated with this hotel in a love/hate relationship. I want to score it higher in some areas than others so, 3 stars it is. First off, this area is pretty sketch for Austin, but it's affordable and meets federal hotel rate limits. The parking lot it well lit and I felt safe enough to walk inside at night. There are also many restaurants nearby to eat at or get delivery. It's quick access to popular local roadways. (Speedy access as long as it's not peak hours). For the positives - the hotel is clean and the rooms are clean. I don't have to worry about bugs, mold or anything of the like. Individual wall thermostats in each room. Hot breakfast is plentiful, along with grab and go options. They have two coffee/tea areas available 24/7 and a complimentary happy hour every evening in the lobby. Generally positive customer service. My frustrations: Stay 1 - my room key would not work. I first had to get housekeeping to let me in my room. When I went down to the lobby to get a new key, they reprogrammed me two, I went up to try them and they didn't work again. Staff came up with me the third time and tried my keys agreeing they weren't working and explaining someone would just have to let me in and out with a master key. I ended up not leaving my room the rest of the night and just taking all my belongings down with breakfast then checking out. My room was right outside the elevator and I heard it ding every. Single. Time. Stay 2 - This room was the very last room down a long hallway. The room seemed to be one that hadn't been updated. My prior room had a very nice white vanity and modern touches like an adjustable shower head and deeper tub. This bathroom had peeling wall paper and a cramped, old shower. The shower head just sprayed like bee stings. The walls didn't have the fresh paint coating like the prior room. The people above me were also super loud. There wasn't very good insulation in this room. Stay 3 - everything was great the first night. Then the next morning as I'm in the shower, I hear a toilet flush (maybe above me?) and the water turns ice cold. I would assume this would not happen in a hotel. I go off for work and come back in the afternoon to my room card being disabled. So back down the elevator I go lugging all my things, exhausted just for them to reissue my room key again. Thank goodness it worked, but no explanation for why my card was disabled during the day. A few hours into the evening, someone around my room starts smoking cigarettes because the smell starts wafting through my vents randomly. I have a no smoking room for a reason. There was no explanation for this. Also by the elevator again so I get to hear the ding ding every time the elevator went up and down. The hotel can do better. I'm sure of it! read more

I especially want to share my experience with Renee from the front desk who helped us book an additional night. the blankets and sheets were dirty and stained, the carpet wasn't vacuumed, the place was covered in dust, and my room is non smoking but reeks of tobacco products. i woke up with swollen eyes because of the dust everywhere. also note that you'll be staying super close to the highway so if you're a light sleeper that's yet another reason to skip out on this hotel. for the price, you could stay at a far nicer hotel with better service and cleaner rooms. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights when visiting Austin. Although the hotel is in a slightly sketchy area, the hotel itself is fine. The room was clean, standard size. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was good, towels standard. Employees were all politely professional. Very good coffee available 24/7. I was looking forward to the great complimentary breakfast that other Yelpers had reported on and was sadly disappointed. Probably one of the worst. The toasted bagel was fine, the rest-meh. I understand people are rude and don't care about the noise they make walking up and down the hall or slamming their doors, but the hotel must be made of cardboard with how loud the rooms are. The water pressure in this place is low and I'm not satisfied, the TV remote wasn't working so I had the batteries replaced and the Closed Captioning is not working at all! This hotel is very expedient to downtown as it is right off I-35 and it is also very close to North Loop, which is a wonderful area to shop and grab coffee. The staff was very friendly and the full breakfast was good. That being said, our room was clean but the bathroom had a decent amount of mildew around the tub and there was hair on the floor when we checked in. The bar near the check in desk was occupied by a group of rather seedy characters in the evening who would stare as we walked by, a very mixed crowd here. Overall, it wasn't an unpleasant stay by any means but I think you can get something better for around the same price. read more

After making it through the check-in and arriving in our room the bed sheets were covered in stains. We checked the room for any signs of bed bugs because of past reviews, and did not find any until the next morning in which we woke up with many bites from sleeping. We stayed here two nights and it was two nights too long. As soon as we entered the room, there was a terrible smell. It immediately felt like mistake from Hotel Hell. The sheets were littered with spots that hinted of age old mold that was cleaned too late. Throughout the night, I couldn't stop itching. From either bed bugs or God knows what. In the morning, we came down over an hour before breakfast closes. But, regardless, most items were missing. No potatoes, no tomatoes, no yogurt and, best of all, no place to sit. There was a horrible management decision to turn the lobby into the breakfast room. Naturally, there aren't enough seats to fit 20 people here, let alone a hotel. It looked like a disaster shelter, with people littered everywhere with small plastic plates on their laps. Absolutely abysmal. Best Western Plus? More like Worst Hostel Minus. read more

Hotel is ok. Looks decent on the outside. The staff is super friendly and nice. Unfortunately they gave us a room right outside the backing so we had to hear everything going on downstairs. In addition to that our pillow had what looked like blood on it. We asked for a new one and they quickly gave us new pillows, but I slept with as many clothes on because in was creeped out. They do offer free happy hour and free breakfast. read more

This was a great hotel. The room and bathroom was clean with a nice fit and finish. I love how pet friendly they were, with a much nicer and more lax policy than many other hotels. The location was convenient; close to down-town. They have a nice pool, coin-laundry, and fitness center. There is even a gas bbq pit and semi-covered outside area with tables/chairs. The breakfast was the best free breakfast I've seen, excluding the really expensive hotels. We walked in somewhat "grungy" after swimming at one of the watering holes and didn't feel judged. Formerly a rundown ramada inn new owners sold out to best western and redid it. What a difference! More than new paint, new wallpaper, they got rid of the basement smell. Don't know how that was done. Incredible amenities like all day cappuccinos, an led fireplace in lobby- tre kewl- a propane fire pit in pool area, and even a plug in for our Tresla! Usual stuff, nice breakfast, comfy beds, color tv, blah-blah blah. Service was great. In a city like Austin, the value vs cost really stands out. read more

The hotel mgt. was friendly. The noise from other guest seemed to creep up through the walls. It was almost unbearable. I've never seen the hotel staff getting their breakfast at the same time as hotel guests. The line was not short either. The hallway carpets were old and stained. We went in for a cocktail after dinner and the service was very slow. We ordered two beers and then we were ready to leave I got our check. It took the longest time for them to come and bring us our check and then when he brought our change he shorted me $.23. I went back up to the counter to get the rest of my change and he stood with another guy for the longest time then asked me if I had change for $.25. Then he proceeds to go get change for $.25 and counted out $.23 and put the other two cents in the tip jar. I thought that that was very crazy to do only because he would rather short me almost $.25 than to let me have two cents in order to give me my correct change. I came to stay in Austin for the weekend with my boyfriend after finding a good deal on hotels.com. Got to the hotel on Thursday and was pleased by an awesome "manager's happy hour" with free drinks 4:30-6. Friday, woke up to a great free breakfast. No sketchy people, unlike what other reviews say, just some construction workers. Things are going great until Saturday night, when I notice a few ants on my nightstand. I go to move a cup of water so I can kill them.... and there are ants EVERYWHERE. To our dismay, they had managed to crawl all over our things, presumably in search of food (which we had in the room unsealed). Was bit 3-5 times by fire ants. They are still crawling on the ceiling as I'm writing this review. Honestly great experience up until the last night--then it was all ruined by these unwelcome bugs :( read more

I love this place!!! I have stayed at so many places around the world and I always come back here to this place in Austin. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The owner...I think he is the owner...he sort of resembles Mack Brown and probably watches alot of football, goes to church and has like Harvard grandkids...is SO nice and cooks a happy hour with food and cocktails complimentary 5 days a week. I only hear his staff speak highly of him. He makes people feel comfortable and welcome and I like that. The breakfast is awesome! Like eggs, bacon and sausage, biscuits and gravy and fruit, yogurt and really whatever you want...waffles...good coffee. I think this is one of the few places I would want my parents and friends to stay at and I know it will be consistent. Its very clean and everyone is happy. It's also so convenient as far as driving around the city or taking transports. I am very grateful that I found this hidden treasure in Austin, TX! read more
