We stayed here due to being close to the river walk & price was more economically for 1 night. Great location, next to a Sonic restaurant, one entrance for parking lot as gated on other side of lot. Full sized beds, was comfortable for me. Updated room with outlets with usb plug ins. Had an damp smell when walking in room as sink is adjacent to door, bathroom did not smell. Although Not noticeable when I was on room on second bed. Breakfast was descent and filling. Employees very friendly. Did not use the gym but set up looked nice. Did not use Pool, looked as needed a chemical check, or more chlorine as had a green tinge. read more

I was pretty happy with my stay. I like best Western plus. But as I was checking out of my room, a small roach crawled out from my sink.

An excellent choice at this price point, and a hidden bargain if you're visiting the Riverwalk or the Alamo in downtown San Antonio. Clean, relatively spacious modern rooms with decent Wifi and climate controls. About the only flaw I've found in their setup is no hairdryers in the bathrooms. The area immediately around the hotel is devoid of any really good restaurants; it's also a bit sketchy at night. However, the lot is well lit and not particularly large, so I felt safe parking my car there at least. Nice selection of hot breakfast items served from 6:30 - 9am, and best of all there's easy access to the freeway whether coming or going. All in all a very good hotel. Re: Being a bargain stay for the Riverwalk - this place is literally 5 minutes away, 10 with traffic. Find a spot in one of the many garages and go enjoy the sights. Yes, you have to pay to park - but when you consider that (with advance reservations) you'll pay ~$100/night versus triple that for most places right on the walk, you'll still end up way ahead. Take the bargain hotel and splurge the difference on a *good* restaurant on the river, not one of the tourist trap chains! read more

Iv had a reservation for over a week. When I arrived at the hotel to check in me and my mother were told that are room was still being cleaned. Come to find out the lady at the front desk has been tell multiple people that after 30 mins of waiting we returned and was still told the room was "being cleaned"!At this point I'm aggravated! Continental breakfast, pool, mini fridge and microwave. This is a pretty general hotel. We meant to choose the one off River Walk but got confused because of the name Downtown. It's only 5 minutes away by car so it wasn't a big deal but if you're looking for the one you can walk from I believe it's called Sunshine. Anyway, the workers were nice and the place seemed clean. We found some trash behind our bed but oh well. Oddly enough our bathroom since was right next to the door. I've never seen a set up like that. It was an ok stay and the bed was comfy. read more

First impress was nice. Nice exterior. Nice pool, nice lobby, friendly staff and nice room. The room had two queen sized beds and a couch and a large TV with lots of channels Always a plus when your in a hotel But that's where it ended. The beds, towels and carpet were damp. The room did not have a bad smell , you could just feel the dampness. It had not been raining so it could not be blamed on that, the Texas heat should have everything dried up. Beds were not comfortable even though they had several pillows. My rating is more like a 3.5-4. It's a good place if you just want somewhere decent to sleep. The staff was friendly and the hotel was overall clean. The area seemed safe. The room was a little humid which made everything feel wet when I walked in but the A/C helped after. The bigger cons were the fact that the window curtains were sheer and people could definitely see into the room from the street. Luckily I had a clip that was able to help me out but otherwise it would have been weird. The other con was that the shower curtain kinda didn't make sense. If it was in in or out of the tub a good part of the bathroom floor got wet. I would stay here again. read more

Just fine, no surprises (the way I like it). I stayed for 10 nights and it worked out really well for the work I was doing. Great BBQ place across the street (Bill Millers), Great taqueria near that and Sonic right next door for those late night cravings. My Toyota trucks GPS got confused by the address, try I-35N instead of PanAm expressway, though the phone figured it out without issue. Super nice people at the front desk and decent breakfast (eggs/bacon/sausage/bagels/juice). I'd stay here again. read more

My mom booked my room w her card and I've never had a problem with this before but we had to go through a whole process of verifying her card after the room was already paid for. Also the front desk manager by the name of Derrick was completely rude about the entire situation, and also tried to take my card as well for any "accidents" which makes zero sense for them to take two cards and I didn't appreciate the way they handled things at all I will never book at this best western plus again! read more

This is a fairly new hotel. The exterior and amenities were appealing upon arrival. However, we were awaken at 4am with a huge waterbug/roach crawling on our head. After turning on the lights we found 3 more on the walls. Not sure if this was a problem because we were on the 1st floor or what. The front desk attendant said they have problems because of the trees outside. This was a huge inconvenience. We did not plan on driving back to Dallas at 5am! Just beware, bugs, huge bugs, are part of the amenities here. read more

One of the sub-par Best Westerns. 1. Had to keep having our key cards re-scanned 2. There seems to be always a line to the elevator; perhaps the way the stairs are situated, people tend to use the elevator even though they want to use the stairs 3. Very small area for breakfast 4. Check-in clerk at night is less than welcoming 5. There is no safe in the room. The welcome manual directed guests to have valuables stowed at the front-desk safe. It turns out, there's no safe. And the clerks did not know that their own manual gives this instruction. It took a while for them to understand what we wanted. When they finally understood, they said they can take our valuable and put it in the next room. We asked if there is a safe in the room. They said there was none, but they will lock the door. To which we asked, who are allowed in the room and how often do they do so. Response: The employees who need to go in, and whenever they need to. That really screams "safe and secure" (*sarcasm*). 6. If you can't find parking near the entrance, you'll have to park in an outer parking lot that feels a little unsafe. We expected better. read more

Evidently recently rebuilt, they did an excellent job. Clean rooms, safe area. Nice breakfast area with eggs, sausage, waffles, etc. Surprisingly good workout area with various free weights, resistance, and cardio machines. Friendly staff and great location. Decent hotel if you're on a budget. We stayed here for the Metallica show at the Alamodome and it's only about a 10 minute drive away. The area around the hotel is ok but I wouldn't recommend walking around outside late at night. The rooms were clean and comfortable and thankfully the a/c worked. My only major complaint was the pool. It was filthy. My wife and I both wanted to go swimming before the concert, but we realized that would be impossible once we saw the pool. The free breakfast was decent, about what you would expect from a continental breakfast. We probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

Minute I walked in, I loved it. Customer service was great, friendly staff. Then we got on the elevator and going up to the 5th floor, the elevator slammed hard as if we were going to be locked in or worse. Then our toilet was not working and we had to manually fill the tank with water, well after that stopped to work, the toilet seemed as it would overflow, called front desk, was told they could not find anyone to help or find a plunger, after about 20 minutes, a woman gave my friend the plunger in the hall way of the lobby to bring it up to us. My husband had to attend to this issue. I am upset about this because for one the room is not cheap and we as guests should not have had to conduct the job of the hotel. The tub in shower would not drain either which was another disappointment. I wanted to love it, but these 3 issues made it impossible. read more

Stayed there last night and had a good experience! The reservation phone number got our reservation wrong but the ladies at the front desk corrected it and were super nice! I think their names were Gina and Diana...at least that's what they said at the front desk the next morning. They were. Very kind and accommodating to not only my husband and I but to my two super tired kids. Their kindness was refreshing after 12 hours of traveling. The rooms were big and clean! We had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. The next morning we had breakfast downstairs and it was good. Exactly what you would expect from a hotel breakfast. However, the one thing that stood out to my husband and I was once again the staff. A woman named Tiffany was so helpful and kind. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience with our crazy kids. We definitely recommend staying here. They make a family feel like they are at home! read more

We won't stay here again. Room was clean and breakfast was good. However, the shower drain was clogged so we reported that. Then left for the day and put out the sign to clean the room. Came back at 8pm to the same sign, room not made up, no fresh linens, and the cash tip left out on both beds gone. Ummmm...reported the situation to front office and told them we didn't have clean towels or anything. They apologized and said they'd send some up. 25 minutes later, no towels yet. So I decide to walk down five flights to the front desk, repeat my conversation, and the person at the front desk said, "oh, I have that for you right here", gets up and walks over to a bag of towels and toiletries on the counter and hands it to me. I said, "I didn't realize I had to come down and get this..."Seriously, don't clean the room and then can't even walk the stuff up to me? So here I am unpacking my bag of supplies. Tacky. My husband was stationed at JBSH and while waiting on housing we decided to stay at this hotel. Best western's are always our go to as they have rooms big enough for the 6 of us without having to spend hundreds of dollars a night. The free breakfast is great, a ton of choices my kida got to make their own texas shaped waffle which they loved. The rooms are clean and modern, the beds are super comfortable with lots of pillows. The front desk is great and they have a little room with snacks and drinks to purchase, along with free lemonade and coffee 24/7 in the lobby. We spent a lot of time in the pool which is small but everyone had a great time! The location is...well its not terrible but from what im seeing so far living here its normal for this area. There is a awesome Mexican restaurant super close, along with a burger place,sonic and gas stations within walking distance. You really cant ask for more from a hotel or their staff! We are definitely pleased and will recommend this place to our family who comes to visit. read more

We are staying for 5 days for my son's Air Force BMT graduation. We have been very pleased with our stay here. Front desk staff are very helpful. The staff cleaning our room everyday have been excellent. The breakfast is good. We actually had a queen suite with 2 rooms for less than $100 per day from Priceline. Very centrally located 10-20 minutes to Lackland Air Force Base, downtown river walk area, and the airport. Very close to Fort Sam Houston. I have never left a Yelp review but look at it often. read more
